Hi everyone, who still reads any of my stories. I feel like I'm a decade old now. Haha

Anyway lovies, enjoy.

Rise up- Beyonce

Letter 7

Sonic smiled as he grasped on to the Chaos Emerald. Tails jumped off his ship and on to the ground. He approached Sonic and took it off his hands. They arrived outside Tails' workshop and appeared inside the garage. Shadow stood inside the garage watching as Tails and Sonic smiled happily up at each other and their successful rescue.

"Two emeralds, five to go," Tails told Sonic. "The rest are still out there. I'm going to read my letters to see where the others are,"

Tails closed his ship's cast and started walking to his garage.

Sonic turned around facing Tails. "Hey Tails. If you've been reading your letters why'd you still get caught by Eggman?"

Tails turned.

"Actually, I was supposed to get caught!" Tails said swiftly lifting a finger up. His two tails wiggled around meaning he was excited. Sonic smiled and crossed his arms listening. "It said not to worry and that all would work out as "planned". And, I was already going to Eggman's base, but it never told me anything about Cream coming. That was surprising."

"She just tagged along with you?" Sonic inquired.

"I was flying when she appeared in the backseat! By then I was almost at Eggman's base. I couldn't turn back around. I told her to stay put, but she insisted in coming with me into the base." Tails thought about how she could've gotten hurt if anything went any other way than it did and how thankful he felt she was okay.

"How strange," Sonic mumbled his hand on his chin.

Shadow stepped out of the garage and approached them. Sonic's eyes shifted up catching his.

"Shadow," Sonic said looking at his quiet demeanor.

"Everything went accordingly," Shadow stated looking at Sonic. Sonic smiled reassuring him. Mid-way in battle he had felt like Eggman was going to win, even being told in his letters that he had nothing to worry about. In the end all went according to plan.

Which reminded him.

"I'm glad we didn't know everything was supposed to go as it did." Sonic said, walking towards Shadow with Tails walking next to him.

Shadow only huffed and turned to the sunset down the hills. His arms were crossed and he looked peaceful looking down at the hills and the valley. Tails and Sonic soon joined him in looking outward to the skies. It was quiet for that moment as they enjoyed the breeze of the air gliding through them.

"It's nice, huh? The sunset." Sonic commented breathing in and exhaling with a large smile.

"While everything's still sane," Shadow replied, making Sonic frowned, but he looked back at the sun with a small smile forming.

"Then let's make the most of it," Sonic said placidly.

Another bit of silence before Shadow finally moved from his position. He faced the fox and the hedgehog and walked past them heading to the garage.

"Where are you going?" Tails asked.

"Inside, in wait for the next day." Shadow said leaving the two.

Sonic made a face and cracked up a small chuckle. Tails moved in closer to Sonic, "This Shadow seems so moody,"

"Don't mind him. I still wanna enjoy this," Sonic told his best pal as he returned to seeing the sun set behind the horizon of the valley.

"Today was a good day. You and Amy seem to be getting closer," Tails told him.

A brighter smile broke across his face, lighting his eyes with delight. "We have," He said proudly. "It's only a matter of time before her birthday, but by then things will be changed."

"I'm going inside to read my letter. I wanna prepare on what I have to do tomorrow,"

"Good idea. Tomorrow will be a busy day,"

The sunset was gone and dusk scattered across the sky.

"What's happening tomorrow?" Tails asked while blinking.

…..

Amy went shopping for her party items in which we failed to do last time. She spent all day organizing her party. I spent so much time trying to find Eggman that I didn't focus on the situation at hand. Getting everyone to go to her party.

"No," Knuckles told Sonic blandly for the fifth time. Knuckles had his eyes closed and lie his back on the Master Emerald as Sonic tapped his foot impatiently.

"I'm telling you! It only has to be for two minutes-tops!" Sonic elucidated.

"I don't care the reason. This Emerald is not leaving this island nor are you bringing the party out here. Too dangerous." Knuckles said opening one eye and glaring at Sonic with it. Sonic sighed a sweat drop on the top of his forehead. If only Knuckles wasn't that stubborn.

"Knuckles, there's a reason to all this. You have to believe me when I tell you that this important." Sonic said more leisurely.

Knuckle's eyes both opened and gave Sonic his undivided attention. "Okay. Enlighten me."

Sonic frowned looking deadpanned. There was no way he was going to convince a stubborn echidna…unless he showed him proof.

"I guess I'm left with no choice…" Sonic said frazzled, taking his hand and putting it behind his back. Knuckles grew cautious of Sonic's movement and quickly lifted his hands up as to fight, but Sonic pulled out an envelope.

Uncertain of what was going on, Knuckles didn't release his position. He watched warily as Sonic took out letters and pulled out one specifically. Without a word Sonic walked up to Knuckles and handed him the letter. Knuckles looked confused but took a look at the letter.

You never found any evidence on Eggman and that's okay, because it was a quiet day in Mobotropolis. She finds you and asks you to hang out, but you refused and run away from her. Today marks the day you being to distant yourself from her. It marks the countdown to the day I regret everything. Instead, today make it all about her. Maybe take her out, hang out with her, or if these letters didn't help you the first few times and everything is the same, help her with her party. Don't forget to make her feel special. Don't forget how to spend some time. The time you have with her is now.

..

Amy opened the door to Sonic appearing in front of her. Amy gasped closing the door half-way. "Sonic?! W-What are you doing around here?"

Sonic smiled. "Just came wondering if you need help with your decorations or anything."

"Ah. No," Amy stuttered catching herself stuck on what to say, but finished with, "I-I'm done for now."

Sonic knew she didn't want him seeing her decorations and every surprise till her birthday and so he took a step back. "Are you planning on doing anything else at the moment?"

Her cheeks flushed at those words and she slowly let her hand open the door slightly so that she could see him more clearly. "No," She almost whispered her words.

"I'm going for a walk. Wanna come with?" He asked, moving his hand in a 'come on' motion.

Her heart wretched inside her chest. She was left speechless for the feeling of upheaval his words caused. Was he asking her to spend some time with her. All she could do was nod her head quite ecstatic.

Sonic stepped back. "Don't forget your keys. I'll wait outside," He told her, turning around and walking away so that he could let her know he wasn't peeking inside. Amy bit her lip and closed the door rushing inside to get ready.

Once she went inside, Sonic looked at the sun starting to set. He subtly took out the letter of the day, re-reading some of the notes his future-self left.

I know you don't feel the way she feels about you. Trust me I've been there before. But if you cherish her as I did, as a friend, you'll understand that spending time with her means the world to Amy. But you gotta show it. Take my advice on spending time with her in any way possible. It could potentially save her life.

Amy came out of her house and Sonic deftly hid the letter behind his quills. She locked the door and hustled over to his side gazing up at him. Sonic blinked at her amused before she spoke, "Where are you walking to,"

"Anywhere. Let's go explore," He suggested.

"Wait you didn't plan on where to go?" She questioned him. She knew Sonic was someone who'd run with the flow, but she didn't understand why it caught her by surprise. Sonic shook his head and walked behind her. He scooped her body and caught her as her knees buckled, swinging her up into his arms. Shocked by his actions, she let out a short yelp.

"I'm not much of a planner. Let me show you how I run my life," He told her with a wink before busting into speed and running across the land. Amy closed her eyes shut because the air was jarring her face with its force.

"Open your eyes Amy!" Sonic advised her. Amy opened one eye at him and saw him smile as he looked ahead. "Look,"

She listened and slowly opened her eyes against the strong wind but was able to catch the beautiful scenery of the sunset and the mountains. Amy gasped in awe at the breath-taking view. Sonic smirked as he took a glimpse at her and then ran faster towards the mountains.

He reached the top of the highest mountain in the valley. He was at the peak of all of the land, the city of Mobotropolis. He set Amy down and she gasped looking outward the land.

"Whoa," Was all she could really say. Sonic put both hands on his hips confidently.

"I like coming up here sometimes when I wanna take a moment to myself." He said.

Amy rubbed her left arm. "Why bring me up here though?"

Sonic sat down on the grass and leaned back on his hands. "Why not?" He replied back.

Amy sucked in her lips confused. Sonic laughed and patted the grass next to him. "Sit down. Sometimes its good to just sit and enjoy a moment."

Amy finally smiled in acceptance of what was going on and sat next to him in a crisscross. It was quiet for a moment. Just two hedgehogs looking out at the view of the ombre colors the sun was radiating. Amy rested her chin on her knees after a while. Sonic faced her.

"What's wrong?"

"No, nothing's wrong," Amy quickly lifted her head up at him.

"Doesn't sound convincing," He examined her face and tilted his head to the side.

"No-it's just-"Amy sighed sounding emotionally defeated. "That's not it."

"Then what is it?"

Something that never crossed my mind was that Amy wanted to be heard. She had so much going on in her head and so much that clouded her thoughts that by the time we all figured it out, it was too late. Allow her to speak. Allow her to open up to you and don't forget to open up to her.

Today, just enjoy her company.

Amy blew her bangs to the side. "I was just thinking you're right. Sometimes it is good to just sit and enjoy a moment," She recited serenely.

Sonic looked back at the view. "Whenever I'm feeling down or tired I come up here. I like seeing life and how it moves quicker than we actual think it does. Being up here and doing nothing, you'd think time would be slower."

Amy's eyes widened. "I didn't know that,"

Her eyes wondered about the view and surveyed the area. All was slow and nothing was really moving. All she could see was green, trees and water. But the longer she looked she couldn't understand what she was talking about. There wasn't a bird in sight or animals moving about.

"I don't see what you mean," She told him. Sonic leaned forward towards her, his head besides her, and he pointed at the sun. "Look,"

Her eyes followed his finger and slowly she understood. The sun's ombre colors were disappearing and subtly the sky was becoming darker.

"Sooner or later it'll be nightfall and then a new day." He said leaning back, not noticing how flushed Amy got from how close Sonic had gotten. She let that thought fall and she cleared her throat.

"That's amazing," She turned to him. "You do a lot of thinking up here. You're like Aristotle the Owl."

"I'm nothing like Aristotle the Owl." Sonic laughed and Amy laughed back covering her mouth from trying to laugh too loud.

"To me you are," She said sincerely catching his attention. He didn't say anything and didn't move a single muscle in his body, so that when Amy turned to look at him, he was calm. She blushed when he only stared back at her with a smile.

She blushed and looked away quickly. "Someone who's smart and wise beyond his years anyway," She added.

"Really?" Sonic's tone got softer. "You're calling me old?"

"No!" Amy spat but Sonic only laughed. "No Sonic that's not what I mean!"

"Okay, I'm listening." He said, his laugh dying down. "What do you mean,"

Amy's words got stuck in her throat. His eyes felt as if they were piercing right through her. She could feel the strong energy he possessed and yet his soft demeanor. He was so perfect. But she didn't know what to tell him. It was all happening too fast. Suddenly Amy didn't understand how he could go from wanting to find Eggman to wanting to relax and be with her. Something didn't feel right. Amy closed her mouth and turned to face the view. "I don't know…" She trailed off with her voice, feeling confused, but brought it back up with a joking tone. "I'm just kidding,"

Sonic blinked hoping he would get some sort of trust bond here, but maybe he messed up. Sonic backed away and turned to look at the view. "You want to know why I brought you here," Sonic asked her.

Amy side-glanced him.

Sonic closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He made sure Amy didn't note how nervous he was. He reopened his eyes and spoke.

"I mean, when was the last time we even sat down and talked." He admitted which Amy thought about for a little until he continued. "We haven't. I've been so focused on Eggman and protecting everyone that I haven't had a chance to relax myself and you have your party going on..."

When Sonic trailed off and hesitated to continue his sentence, it made Amy think that her party was the problem. What Knuckles said about being cautious about the party and how Eggman could interfere was going to be perilous. Amy interjected, "No, I understand."

Sonic whipped his head over to her. "Huh?"

"You don't have to say it," Amy stood up and dusted her shirt as Sonic watched dumbfounded.

How could she possibly understand? He never even got to tell her…how stressful it must be to make her own party yet how important it was to him and everyone else. She never got to hear it.

Amy smiled. "You don't have to worry…"

"Wait—" But Sonic stopped himself, remembering what the letters told him. To listen to her. He closed his mouth shut waiting on anything else Amy had to say, but Amy took that as an agreement. Amy swallowed hard and was about to speak when she received a call.

Amy stopped and looked at her phone to see Cream's caller ID. She answered it right away.

"Yes Cream?" She began and Sonic's eyes changed slowly. He didn't know it, but something didn't feel right. Something about the atmosphere changed.

"Yes, I'll come over right now," She told her through the phone. "Okay. See you,"

Sonic got up from the floor and approached her. "Everything okay?"

"Yea, I'm just going to her house for tea." She told him.

"I'll take you,"

Amy wanted to say no. She really did, but she hardly ever got him offering her rides like that nor did they spend much time together. It was rare as it was and soon she was going with Cream. She wanted to spend every time she could with him. She nodded at him. Little did she know, that deeply within, she was discreetly upset.

Shadow was at the top of Tail's workshop looking down at the night of the land, his arms crossed over his chest. The land was dark and hardly any light was around due to Tails already having his lights out. It was a bit cold that night and the wind was blowing on his arms and his quills, but that wasn't troubling him. Shadow saw a figure walking up the hill top coming towards him. Shadow's eyes shifted towards the figure but his body didn't move.

After a moment, Shadow's eyes averted forward to where he was staring off in the first place. The figure landed next to Shadow after flapping up to the roof.

"Chaaao,"

"Shhh, we have to be quiet, Cheese, so we don't wake Tails up,"

"Tails won't here you from up here?" Shadow told Cream without looking at her.

"Oh, that's a good thing," Cream said hopefully.

Cheese flew around Cream and went in front of Shadow. "Chao," Cheese barked at Shadow. "Chao Chao!"

"Hmm," Shadow hummed. "What's wrong with him,"

"Shadow, something terrible has happened," Cream explained, waving her arms up in the air and shaking them around just as Cheese did the same thing. Shadow raised up an eyebrow and didn't say anything.

Cream pulled out an envelope and a letter in it. Slowly, Shadow turned his body towards her and the next words wiped away his composure right out of his closure.

"Everything that was supposed to happen today didn't happen at all. Amy's disappeared!"

OH Shoot!

A whole year later!

Sorry, writer's block for this story hit hard! And I almost don't find a reason to finish this story! Meh! Sorry. I mean, I'll continue to post if anything, but fair warning: may not finish the story.
