"Leo!"

Huh?

Leo wasn't sure where he was, who was speaking, or what was going on. His body felt like it was on fire, which was entirely possible. His eyelids felt like they weighed a million pounds. He let out a moan.

"Leo? Are you awake? Open your eyes!"

The voice sounded more clear now. Leo struggled to open his eyes, but only managed to get them into slits; and the light that blinded his eyes upon opening caused him to shut them immediately. His body screamed in pain. What happened?

He attempted opening his eyes again, preparing for the light this time. He saw Piper standing over him, a look of concern on her pretty face. "Oh thank the Gods," she said, wiping blood away from a cut on her cheek.

"Whaa…" Leo tried to speak but his mouth was dry as a desert and his throat burned.

"Save your strength," Piper ordered. "You…you fell pretty hard. Jason's on his way to get help."

It was then that Leo noticed the tears streaming down from her eyes.

Leo attempted to sit up but immediately cried out as his stomach flared up with pain. Piper let out a sob and put a hand on his chest. "Stay still, Leo. I know it hurts. Help's coming."

Leo swallowed and focused on his breathing. The fire in his stomach was unbearable. He attempted to talk again even though Piper had told him not to."W'hapnd?" Leo mumbled through teeth gritted in pain.

Piper took a deep breath before answering, a sympathetic look on her face. "We were fighting some venti on a cliff. One of them was about to hit me with lightning…"

Suddenly it all came back to Leo. He had shoved Piper out of the way. The lightning had missed them, but Leo had gone tumbling over the edge of the cliff. The last thing he remembered was a terrible ripping pain in his belly as he fell hard on a rock and the cracking noise as he landed hard on his foot before he blacked out…

He struggled to sit up again, this time lasting long enough to see the damage done. He almost threw up when he saw his ankle twisted the wrong way and the rib sticking up through his abdomen.

"Leo!" Piper cried. "You have to stay still! You're really hurt!"

"Thanks…cap'n ovvvvioussssss…" Leo choked out.

Piper sobbed again and more tears fell from her eyes. "I'm so sorry Leo…its all my fault! Why'd you have to save me?"

Leo tried to answer but it ended in a coughing fit. Manly. Black spots danced in front of his eyes and he wasn't sure if he could stay conscious. "Pipes…" He choked out, ignoring the pain the flared up from the effort of speaking. "Not…yer fault. Had…t'save…" Leo stopped to catch his breath. "You."

He heard shouting in the distance. Piper sniffed and perked up at the noise. "You hear that? Jason's back. You're going to be okay, Leo. You are."

"M'hm" Leo mumbled, eyes closing as the drowsiness made the world start swimming.

Piper noticed Leo drifting off. "No no no, Leo stay with me. They're so close." Piper lightly smacked Leo's face, trying to keep him from passing out. "Please, Leo!"

The last thing Leo remembered was people yelling his name, then he drifted off into painless bliss.
