Follow You (Azazel) X-Men First Class Chp. 8
*Just a filler chapter*
The submarine was bustling with new activity after the events at the FBI compound concluded with the addition of a new team member. Angel. Yuki's gold eyes flickered to the tan woman with mild interest from her spot as she leaned against the cold metal wall. The woman seemed a lot less confident once everyone had settled in to their normal stations.
Yuki pushed against the wall to stand straight and paced over to Angel who was huddled against a back corner. She avoided eye contact with everyone including Yuki.
"You okay," It wasn't hard for her to see the young woman was struggling in her new surroundings, "You regret coming?"
Angel's dart to hers quickly before darting away finding her shoes far more interesting than woman in front of her. Yuki picked up on her discomfort before looking around the room at the others sitting at their stations, "Here come, follow me."
Yuki took the girl's hand before leading her to the other side of the sub where the lounge and rooms were for everyone but Shaw. She sat the young mutant down before dropping down on the couch across from her, sprawling so she could take an unnecessary amount of space up for herself.
"Quiet here," Yuki said gesturing to the empty room with a flippant wave of her hand, "No boys, Talk freely."
Angel's brows furrow and Yuki offers her a lazy grin.
Angel makes a quick frantic motion, "I don't regret it if that's what you're thinking. I just... I thought that if I went with them, if I helped them I could be with people who were like me. Different. I felt alone and then those people just... they just mocked and ridiculed us. I would have rather gone back to the people who started at me while I was stripping than to be stared at... like they started at me!"
Yuki could see the stress building up behind tearful brown eyes and her ears dropped to lay flat against her head. She leaned across the empty space to place a hand on the young woman's hand, trying to offer comfort. Angel sniffled quietly as she pulled her hand away from Yuki's and her gaze returned to the floor. Yuki sighed, she knew exactly what the girl was doing as she had done the same age when she had first been recruited to the group.
"When I was your age... I was held prisoner in facility much like one we found you in. Big cement walls, white rooms, and people who stare," Yuki leaned back in her seat, "Day in and day out Yuki would be tormented, starved, beaten for being born. Didn't even know how to speak right. Then 'Zazel and Shaw come along and offer me chance. A chance to do something more."
Yuki reached over and took the young girls hand firmly this time and giving her a pointed look, "Yuki was just like you in beginning. Always looking over shoulder, clinging to 'Zazel, and always afraid. Things get better. It takes time but you are safe with us."
Angel smiled softly bringing up her other hand to wipe away a stray tear and Yuki squeezes the hand she has in hers, "Thank you."
Yuki stands to wave her off with a soft grin, "It is no problem. We have busy day tomorrow, let's get you settled in."
Yuki got Angel settled into a bunk before making her way back to her own room where she dropped down on her bed. Her mind was restless. Everything was changing and the world she once knew was rapidly evolving into something new and before she knew it she had nodded off to a uneasy sleep.
END OF STORY NOTES.
1. I meant to have this up a while ago but I got sidetracked on where exactly I wanted this chapter to go. It got broken up into two chapters for ease of both the readers and myself.
2. That being said this month begins a very busy couple of months for me in the Con Community. (Yes I'm a nerd if you haven't guessed and I've got events scheduled for the next couple months in a row.)
3. I'm almost done writing chapter 9 and I hope to post it before I leave next week.
