She had instantly jumped from bed when she heard the scream.

Lyra!

It was all she could think about as she darted through the corridor until finally reaching her child's room. Another scream, this time, lower.

She opened the door quickly, seeing the girl thrashing around and moaning. She made her way to the bed.

"Lyra" she shook her shoulders gently "Lyra! Wake up, darling"

The girl jolted awake, terrified, her eyes wide. She sat in bed and Marisa hugged her tightly. Her breathing was heavy and uneven, her body trembled as she was still thinking about the terrible dream.

"Shhh… It's alright; it's alright, my love. It was just a dream" she said as she stroked her daughter's hair.

She held Lyra tightly until her breathing evened again or, at least, wasn't as shaky.

"The Gobblers..." Then child murmured "They'd caught me and they... They were dragging me to hell…"

"Don't think about it" she whispered softly into the girls' ear.

The Golden Monkey caressed Pantalaimon. He ran his pointy fingers between the ermine's ears and, after, through his whole body.

She didn't lose her embrace. She had been so scared that the physical proximity was maybe more her own comfort than Lyra herself. It was the first time something like this had happened and, strong and the child was, Marisa knew it wasn't like her to yell because of a nightmare. So she waited until Lyra moved.

The youngster looked at her thankfully and lied down again. Pantalaimon made his way to her side.

Marisa smiled at her and stood up.

"Mrs. Coulter..." she hesitated "Would... Would you stay with me until I fell asleep? Please..."

Marisa lied beside her daughter once more. She caressed the Lyra's hair and face until she heard the deep breathing signaling that the girl was back into dreamland.

"Sweet dreams, my beautiful girl"
