Author Note

Welcome to the Aloha, the fourth part of the Love at First sight Saga

If you are new coming into this then I would seriously suggest that you go back at read Love at first sight. If you don't read that one first then this one may be confusing. If you have already read that one and you wanted to continue reading then thank you very, very much for re-joining me. It means a lot

This story is and always has been a McDanni story but there will be a lot of background Danlin as well (Danny Williams/Caitlin Richardson). It safe to say that the Danlin love story is by no stretch of the imagination as easy as the McDanni love story, especially as I'm not even sure whether the relationship will last at this point!

The core four, Steve's sister Mary and several other characters who will be recognisable from the show will feature heavily in this story and you'll also get to meet not just the rest of Danni's siblings but her parents as well and the people who she was closest to in the modelling industry. You'll also get to meet Steve's Aunt and Uncle who raised him since he was fifteen and the cousins he lived with. So there will be plenty of family goodness all around.

As previously mentioned in Love at first sight. Female Danni will be referred to as Danielle unless someone is directly referring to her in conversation or speaking to her directly. This is to try and make having male Danny in the story less confusing for the reader.

I feel like I should put a warning here that this story will be incredibly fluffy and feel good. I jokingly refer to it as my attempt at a Mills and boons book but I just wanted to write one story with limited angst (there will be some because this is me after all) that would hopefully make anyone reading it smile and feel happy for Steve that he has found someone like Danielle so early on which changes everything for him (We're still in season one here)

I may add things from the show, which will no doubt be how the angst will be added, but we shall see how it fits in.

Nothing more to say other than the fact that I hope you enjoy my new offering; it should be a long one again!

Saga

Part four of the Love at first sight Saga

Part One

Minus 1 day – Saturday 9th April 2011

Every minute feels like an hour, every hour feels like a day, every day feels like forever but I'll wait forever and a day for you

"Okay Danielle, I just need you to just turn a little more to the left for me, yeah just like that, that's perfect my Darling Girl. Now do me a favour and stare moodily into the distance as though you're thinking about something which is troubling you, maybe you forgot to turn the oven off this morning or you left some hair straighteners on and have only remembered on your way to a job so you can't turn back to check. Yes, exactly like that, that's what I was looking for, you are such a natural at this! Tell me once more why you have decided to leave the modelling world?"

Danielle Richardson resisted the urge to roll her eyes at the photographer's tacked on question to his ongoing flow of directions to her, a question which she had heard more times then she cared to count over the past two and a half months of her life, and instead continued to stare into the distance, barely noticing the beautiful scenery surrounding her as she silently counting down the seconds until the photo shoot would be finished and she would be free to kick off the pair of high heels she was wearing, high heels which were far too large for her feet making even standing still in them for the photographs a potential health hazard for her.

She wondered as she stood there, trying not to shiver in the cool spring air which had yet to heat up, just how many more times she would have to hear that same question directed at her over the upcoming eighteen months or so until she completed the final modelling jobs which she had left to do. She had expected to hear some murmurings from the people in the industry once the news that she was retiring from the modelling world and leaving all the glamour that came with it, behind her to move to Hawaii broke out, but she hadn't expected anything like the reaction that there had been. It was as if the modelling world was up in arms about the decision, no doubt wondering what it would mean for them and their businesses. In a way the logical side of her brain could understand the gossips and chatter about it. It was rare for a model at the top of her game to leave the industry behind unless she was being forced out which wasn't the case with Danielle. She was making this choice on her own which was unheard of.

It had been a harder break to make then she had foreseen it being but she had made it clear to both of her managers that she was taking on no more new bookings and was only completing the ones which had been previously agreed before she had come to her decision to retire. Even now, her desire to do the best she could do and preserve her reputation as someone who kept their word once it was given and a contract was signed was strong, warred constantly with her desire to simply pack it all in and go to where she belonged and where she wanted to be with every fiber of her being. She was lucky that her managers had arranged for the remaining photo shoots she had to shoot to be completed on the various islands of Hawaii, most likely a decision they made because she had made it clear to them that once she was back in Oahu again, that she was not going to leave it again, at least not for a modelling job.

Ironically the news of her impending retirement had made her more popular than ever within the industry, with the various brands and high powered people begging her to do their photo shoots for them, people who were willing to pay her double the amount of her standard fee and who nobody would normally dream of saying no to but she had refused every offer which had come her way. The industry has swiftly learnt that beneath Danielle's serene and kind nature was a stubborn streak which once aroused made it almost impossible for anyone to change her mind about the issue.

Danielle wanted to leave the modelling world and that was exactly what she was doing, regardless of whether people thought she was mad or stupid for making that choice, Their opinions quite frankly didn't matter to her.

She had always been sensible with her money and had built up a large enough nest egg to ensure that she would never have to work again if she chose not to and would still be easily well off with money to spare.

She had kept quiet about her true reasons for leaving the business, only telling the truth to the six people closest to her; her two bodyguards, her two managers, her makeup artist and hairdresser that she was uprooting herself there to be with the man who she loved.

The same man who she had met in Hawaii back in January when she had been on a much-needed vacation and who had swept her completely off her feet, making her fall in love with him with an intensity which she had never experienced before and which she doubted she would ever experience again.

"And that is now officially a wrap on this shoot Danielle, you're finished here. Fantastic job as usual, the photos have come out perfectly and exactly how I wanted them to look, it's like you read my mind. Thank God they chose you for this shoot, you are an absolute godsend to me. If these photos don't make the product sell then nothing will." The photographer stated loudly, attracting her from her thoughts, she blinked before glancing towards him.

"Thank you" Danielle responded politely, stepping down carefully from the makeshift platform, she leaned down and pulled off the high heels with a relieved sigh, thankful that she had managed to last the whole shoot without breaking her neck. She picked them up as she stood straight, accepting the large towel which one of the harassed looking assistants was holding out to her, swapping it for the shoes. She wrapped the towel around herself, nodding at the photographer who was still talking to her, raving about the photographs before she turned to look at Julian Perry, one of her bodyguards who was standing near to her with a watchful expression on his face as his green eyes constantly scanned the surrounding area clearly looking for any threats. "I'm ready to head back to the trailer now." She told him, smiling when he merely nodded at her, the hard, icy look in his eyes easing away as he handed her over a pair of black ballet pumps which she recognised as the ones which she tended to wear out and about which he must have picked up from her trailer. She took them from him with a smile.

"Thank you for these" She told him quietly as she slipped them on before she nodded at him to indicate she was ready to go and turned around, heading across the crowded area towards where the trailer, she had been allocated on her arrival was situated, aware of Julian at her side like a comforting shadow.

She breathed out shakily, her eyes drifting close for a moment before she forced them back open.

It was finally all over.

All the commitments she had made which had to be done around the world and on the mainland were completed, finally allowing her to go back to Hawaii. She smiled at her second bodyguard Harry Roberts who grinned back at her from where he was leaning against the side of the trailer, looking relaxed as though he didn't have a care in the world though she knew from experience how misleading that was when it came to the tall man. He was anything but relaxed when he was on the job.

She climbed up the shallow metal stairs leading up to the door to the trailer and turned around to them, her mouth open though she closed it a moment later when Harry spoke up, clearly reading her mind.

"We'll wait for you outside the trailer Danni, take your time with getting ready, we still have plenty of time before we have to be at the airport for the flight later on." He reassured her with a wave of his hand as Julian took up his position on the other side of the door.

She nodded at him, smiling at them both before she pushed the door open and stepped into the small confined area, closing the door behind her to shut out all the noise which she could hear before she leaned back against it with a sigh, her eyes drifting shut again as a wave of relief came over her leaving her knees feeling weak.

"You know that you still look like an absolute natural pro out there in front of the camera, are you absolutely certain that you want to give up your career for love?"

Danielle jumped, her hand coming up to cover her heart as her eyes landed on her older sister Caitlin as the dark-haired woman came out of the small bathroom. A smirk on her beautiful face which made it clear that she had seen Danielle's reaction to her comment.

"Jesus Cait are you trying to give me a heart attack or something? Remind me to kill Harry later on for not warning me that you were in here waiting for me, I think I just lost at least ten years of my life due to the pair of you." She grumbled with a shake of her head as she pushed herself away from the door and moved across the room towards the sofa where she had dumped her small suitcase on her arrival earlier. It never ceased to amuse her that despite all the possessions she owned, everything she truly seemed to need could fit into something so small and still leave her some room left over for anything new to be added. She could never decide whether it was a good thing or whether it was sad in a way. "So, care to explain to me why you are here when the last time we spoke you were over in Germany doing a fashion shoot."

"I was over there doing the shoot" Caitlin responded mildly with a shrug at her. "But we actually finished early for once and since I had nothing planned, I figured I would fly out here and see you since Mom said you were still out here shooting. I did try and make it here before you started the shoot but I got caught up in the traffic. I saw Harry outside and he said I could wait inside since you would be coming back here as soon as you had finished anyway." She explained as she dropped onto the space on the sofa beside Danielle's suitcase and leaned back, her dark hazel eyes fixed on Danielle as she went through her suitcase and selected an outfit to change into. "So, you didn't answer my question earlier, are you sure you want to do this? You truly going to give up everything you've worked so hard on for Steve McGarrett? This might be your last chance to change your mind."

"I'm not going to change my mind" Danielle replied simply, a brisk tone to her voice as her eyes flickered over to her sister. "But I don't view it as me giving anything up Cait because when you say that it makes it out that I'm doing something negative and I'm not, I'm taking the view that for the first time in so long I'm actually doing something for me rather then doing something for someone else. I've been a model since I was nineteen years old and I'm now nearly thirty-one. It's about time that I moved on from this sort of life style to see what else is out there for me. I want to be happy and Steve makes me extremely happy."

"I know he does baby sis" Caitlin said on a sigh. "I saw you and McGarrett together plenty of times when we were in Hawaii remember? I'm well aware about how you feel for him and how he clearly feels for you. It's just that this move you're making to Hawaii is such a massive step for you, I just want to be sure that you'll be okay with it and that you've thought about everything that moving out there actually entails. It's going to be like starting a new school where you know no one or something like that at least, you can come up with your own metaphor for it."

"I have thought about it Caitlin, I mean this is me we're talking about remember, aren't you always accusing me of overthinking every little thing." Danielle replied with a confident note to her voice, sighing when Caitlin merely looked at her in response. "Look, I'll tell you the exact the same thing which I've told Mom and Dad and David when they've made similar comment to me about this, me moving to Hawaii and being with Steve is all I want, he makes me happy and that is a good thing."

"You're right, I know you are, it's just... it's a lot to take in, like I knew you doing it because you said you were but now that we're here it just seems crazy that it's happening." Caitlin admitted before she breathed out nosily. "Still you're thirty like you said, you're old enough to make your own decisions about your own life but there is one thing which I've got to ask though, is McGarrett aware that you're arriving in Hawaii tomorrow to stay for good?" Caitlin asked changing the subject, a grin coming to her face when Danielle shook her head at her with a wide grin that matched the mischievous look in her grey eyes.

"I did think about telling him that I was coming but I decided to leave it as a surprise for him instead. We spoke to one another this morning and he mentioned to me that the team had just finished a high profile case today which means that tomorrow should be a paperwork day for them all which as you can imagine has gone down like a lead balloon giving the small fact that tomorrow is a Sunday and it's meant to be their day off. It sounded like the paperwork for the case couldn't wait though which also should mean that they are all on the office for at least the morning which works out perfectly for me. My flight to Honolulu international airport arrives tomorrow morning at ten, so I'll get a taxi from outside the airport straight to their office and hopefully be with Steve again by eleven. All the while he'll be thinking that I'm still here in Japan. I might have said we were running late to put him off the scent" She commented with an innocent look which made Caitlin laugh even as she shook her head.

"Well that's not too long for you to have to wait to see him then" Caitlin remarked, remaining quiet as Danielle nodded at her before she picked up her set of clothes which she selected from the suitcase and disappeared into the bathroom. "So, tell me Danni, is McGarrett still in the process of planning your wedding? Has he told you the date of it yet? Just want to know about whether I should start thinking about what to wear for it yet." She called out, raising her voice so that Danielle would be able to hear her through the closed door.

"Like I've told you before Caitlin when you've brought this subject up, Steve is not planning our wedding because he hasn't even asked me to marry him yet. We might have discussed it briefly with one another before I left for Paris and we might have agreed that he could think about who he would choose as a best man if we went that route but that was it." Danielle replied as she re-entered the room dressed casually in a pair of dark jeans and a simple dark green vest top which suited her fairness.

"I'm not going to lie, it's genuinely sweet that you actually believe that is all he is doing Danni. I hate to the one to break this the news to you but McGarrett has gone way beyond just thinking about who his best man would be if you got married. He's already planning the wedding down to the smallest detail, making sure that everything for it is perfect for you both. I don't think it matters to him whether he's proposed to you yet or not, not anymore at least." Caitlin stated with another smirk coming to her face, clearly enjoying the conversation.

"And how would you know that Caitlin? Have you been speaking to Steve since we left Hawaii?" Danielle asked her, a tinge of curiosity to her voice.

"No, nothing like that, I've only seen him once since then when I managed to get over to Hawaii to see Dan for a long weekend and it was literally me saying hello to him, that was the extent of our conversation with one another because Dan and I were late for some reservations he had booked for us. Besides even if I had wanted to speak to McGarrett it would have been impossible since I don't actually have his cell phone number. I know all about what's happening over there because Dan has been keeping me in the loop about it and fills me in when we speak to each other, the last time being a couple of days ago. He told me all about it, mainly because I think he doesn't quite believe what's happening himself. Did you know for example that McGarrett's already asked Dan to be one of his best men for the big day." Caitlin explained to her, stretching her legs out in front of her and crossing them at the ankle.

"Wait, One of his best men? As in plural best men?" Danielle questioned with a raised eyebrow.

"It seems that McGarrett couldn't choose between certain people in his life so he decided that the best way to solve that issue was by asking three people to be his best men and have the the rest of them who had be in contention for the spot to be his Ushers instead, therefore involving everyone without hurting any feelings." Caitlin answered with a wave of her hand; her eyes fixed on her sister's face taking in the thoughtful expression which came over it at her words.

"So he's planning us to have a big wedding then?" Danielle commented, sighing when Caitlin shrugged in response.

"It seems that way. I mean would you have three best men and several Ushers if you were planning something small?" The brunette responded. "Though we do have to take into consideration that this information has come from Dan who has been known to over exaggerate about things in the past so you may want to take everything with a little pinch of salt." She admitted

"A little?" Danielle responded with a raised eyebrow before she looked away, dropping her eyes to her task at hand before she spoke. "So, what did Dan say in answer to Steve's request about being his best man then? I'm assuming since you seem to know everything that you know that as well" she asked.

"How do you think he answered him? He said yes of course when McGarrett asked him to be his best man, the guy is Dan's best friend and he's like a brother to him, there was no way that Dan would have said anything but yes to taking on that role. I doubt anything would have stopped him from standing at the Commander's side on one of the most important days of the man's life. On top of that Dan likes you a lot so he is in complete support of the marriage or rather the soon to be marriage, everyone is just waiting for McGarrett get around to actually proposing to you."

"Don't tell me that the reason you're here now is because you want to see all of this with your own eyes" Danielle queried with a raised eyebrow, rolling her eyes when Caitlin nodded at her with a grin. "I should have known, that there was a reason behind your visit here, no one flies from Germany to Japan just to say hello to someone, not even when that someone is their sister. So come on, hit me with it what exactly are you planning? Are you coming to Hawaii with me so that you can see Dan or is this wedding stuff your actual motive behind it? You definitely didn't have any plans to come the last time we spoke on the phone after all."

"I'm going so I can see Dan for a bit" Caitlin admitted to her, dropping her hands to her lap and absently picking at the material of her jeans before she continued to speak, her eyes lowered and focused on her task. "The long-distance aspect of things is harder than I thought it would be and since I don't have any photo shoots until at least next week it made sense to come over with you now. I've booked myself into the same hotel that we were in last time we stayed in Hawaii, or rather the place that I stayed in since you pretty much moved in with McGarrett after your first date with him. I'm assuming the plan for you is to do the same thing this time around?"

"That is what I'm assuming is going to happen, if it doesn't for some reason then I'll be staying in a hotel while I look for a place on the island to buy or rent." Danielle stated, a smile coming to her face as she thought back to the last time she had been at Steve's place. Hopefully, she would be saying there for good this time.

"At least if you're there with him, you'll hopefully be able to rein him in slightly when it comes to all this wedding stuff since according to Dan, your husband to be is a bit of a groomzilla" Caitlin informed her with a laugh. "From what I've been told he's treating the whole thing as though it's a Naval operation that he's in charge of and he's recruited the rest of the team into helping him as well."

"Oh dear God" Danielle replied on a sigh, reaching up and resting her hand on the back of her neck, digging her fingertips to lessen the sudden tension which came over her. "I can't believe he's planning it that much without saying a word to me about it; he hasn't even met Mom or Dad or David or any of the other brothers yet. The only person he has met from the family is you and that didn't exactly go great lets be honest." She pointed out.

"That is true which is what makes watching all of this from the side-lines so interesting, though I can see why you are stressed out about it, I probably would be too though lets be honest there's no way I'm planning on tying the knot with anyone." Caitlin stated, swiping her hand through the air as though she was swiping the mere concept of getting married off of the table. "It's weird to think that you'll probably be married by this time next year. You'll be the only other person other than Nate to be married out of the siblings so you know that Mom and all the Aunties are going to be all over this like a rash, to say that they will be pissed off if McGarrett has gone and taken care of everything instead of them will be an understatement. We'll all be feeling the repercussions of his actions for years to come because it means that they'll be even worse when one of the brothers get married and will be determine to plan everything down to wire and it will all be down to them missing this opportunity to help with your big day. Mom will never forgive McGarrett if he deprives her of being able to help plan her daughter's wedding, upcoming family events will be so tense due to it."

"Is this your attempt at making me feel better Cait because if it is you have failed miserably." Danielle snapped at her, shooting her a glare which clearly made Caitlin feel bad if the way she shifted on the couch was any indication for Danielle to go by.

"Look everything will be fine Danni you'll see, you'll just have to talk to him when you see him and explain the situation and how if he wants to be accepted into the family by Mom then he needs to let her help with the wedding. It's not like you're asking him for much lets be honest. Let's just hope that he listens to you and chills out about the whole thing, I mean like you keep saying, it's not like he's officially asked you yet for your hand in marriage, if anything he's jumping the gun a bit. If I was you I'd say no the first time he asked just to mess a bit with his head." Caitlin said, cheekily, winking at Danielle when she rolled her eyes at her. "Have Mom or Dad mentioned to you about when they plan to come to Hawaii to visit and meet McGarrett for the first time or is that conversation still pending. You'll have to let me know when it is so I can arrange things so I'm around for it because watching McGarrett go up against Mom and Dad is not something to be missed. I best make sure I have popcorn for it."

Danielle rolled her eyes again at the comment, knowing that Caitlin was deliberately winding her up. She instead focused her attention on zipping up her suitcase before she turned her attention back on her sister.

"Mom has already told me that they are flying into Hawaii to visit on the 15th July and that they plan to stay here for at least a month if not longer. Whether the brothers decide to come at the same time or whether they will make separate trips over here themselves I don't know, you'll have to call them and find out yourself what their plans are. Mamma only spoke about her and Dad visiting."

"Dad must have some sort of venture planned for Hawaii if he can get away from work for that period of time." Caitlin remarked thoughtfully before she pulled a face. "If they are coming on the 15th July then that doesn't give you much time to get settled in and prepared for them, it's already the 9th April, that gives you just over three months, that's not long at all."

"Trust me I know, I tried to ask them if they could come later maybe in August or even September time for that very reason but you know what they are both like when they get an idea into their head. Dad is determined to meet Steve as soon as possible and July is the earliest he can get away. They both seem pretty determined to meet him probably because they know already that he is the reason why I'm leaving the modelling world. I mean Dad hated me being in it lets be honest, but at least it was always a steady income and we both know how he feels about steady incomes." Danielle remarked on a sigh.

"I think it's safe to say we have all had to sit through that very same talk Danni with him, it's like some weird sort rite in our family, you turn sixteen and you get the summon to his study and then you get the talk about the future." Caitlin said with a shudder no doubt remember the meeting. Danielle couldn't blame her, it was a vivid memory for her as well. "I suppose considering everything you can't really blame them both for wanting to meet him. I mean like you said he is the reason why you've made such a drastic change to your life and it's made even more drastic by the fact that it was you who made it rather than say me, you have always been the steady, sensible one who thinks things over for years before finally acting on it." Caitlin pointed out as she pushed herself back to her feet. "Have you warned your Commander about the upcoming visit from the parental unit so he can mentally prepare himself for it?" she asked, raising an eyebrow when Danielle shook her head at her.

"Don't give me that look Caitlin, Mamma only called me late last night to tell me about it and I've been pretty much rushed off my feet since the day started with the shoot. I figured that since I'm seeing him tomorrow in person that it could wait until we're back together. It seems like July is going to be a busy time for us because he told me last week that his own family are planning on coming out to Hawaii around that same time for a visit so that they can meet me in person." Danielle confessed with a shake of her head.

"Jesus, just make sure you keep August quiet then or you'll burn out from all the hosting you'll be doing." Caitlin advised her before reaching up and pinching her lower lip thoughtfully. "I'm not surprised that they want to meet you in person though, especially if McGarrett has told them that you're his future wife and that the two of you are planning on being married to each other soon and he loves you and you're his soulmates and all other romantic stuff that I can't think of right now. I feel like that McGarrett is not the type of man who normally declares his love out loud for anyone so when he does, its a major thing to people who care for him. Its probably that SEAL mentality that they drill into them, mission first, emotions second."

"Which from what you've been telling me is probably exactly what he has done and what he has told them, not that he's technically wrong, we will be married some day soon, I will be his wife, he does love me and we are soulmates, he's just possibly misleading them slightly when it comes to our actual timeline to get these things done." Danielle agreed as she lifted the suitcase up and placed it next to the door before, she turned, her mouth tilting up into a smile as she accepted the light coat which Caitlin was holding out for her. She pulled it on and buttoned it, wondering briefly as she did whether it would be one of the last times, she would wear it, before she reached up and pulled out her ponytail running her hand down it as she spoke, her eyes focusing back on Caitlin. "I'm heading off to the airport now to check in for my flight, it's not for a few hours yet but I'd rather be there, ready to go just in case something comes up. Harry and Julian are coming with me because there is no way they will let me get on that long a flight alone, especially after what happened on our way home from Hawaii the last time. What about you though? Are you on a later flight to what I am?" She queried.

"Actually, we're on the same flight as one another. Mamma gave me your flight details when we last spoke since she figured it made more sense for us to go together." Caitlin told her as she turned away and began to gather her own belongings together.

"Well she isn't wrong." Danielle admitted with a shrug.

"Hopefully we'll be sitting next to each other on the plane or at least near one another since that was what I requested from them but you know airlines, just because you ask for something, doesn't necessarily mean that you will get it." The taller woman said, the comment causing Danielle to nod with a rueful expression.

"Well in that case, let's head off, Harry seems to think we have plenty of time to get there but like I said I don't want to risk being late and also I'd like to have some lunch at the airport before we board the plane. The photo shoot assigned a driver to me who is already waiting to take us so at least we won't have a delay in getting there, at least they did assign me a driver, it wouldn't surprise me if Julian hijacked the ride, he does love to drive after all." Danielle remarked as she picked up her own suitcase and pulled open the door, stepping out into the crisp April air, her eyes glancing around her before focusing on Harry, noting as she did that Julian was gone.

"He's checking the area around the car out to make sure it's safe." Harry told her when she shot him a questioning look, clearly knowing without her speaking what she wanted to know.

"Of course, he is and by making sure its safe what you really mean is that he is hijacking the car from the driver." She replied, sharing an amused look with Caitlin before she began walking towards the area where the cars were parked, Caitlin falling into step beside her.

"Do you think that you will miss anything about this life?" Caitlin asked her quietly, waving her free hand around them to indicate the organised chaos.

Danielle remained quiet for a moment, looking around her before she nodded slowly.

I'll miss some of it but what you've got to remember is that I don't technically retire for another eighteen months. I'm still going to be doing photo shoots, I just won't be flying around the world to do them." Danielle said before she gave her sister a long look. "The truth is Cait that I am more than ready for this change. I'm finally ready to do something for me."
