Roasted Swan

Her eyes found the blue ones and she remembered the time so long ago. Rumpelstiltskin saying how ironic the roasted swan was and that she'd understand it later.

But looking into the blue eyes of the daughter of her enemy, she didn't think he knew everything. Like the way she loved those blue eyes, or the way the blonde made her feel like she was perfect.

It wasn't ironic, it was True Love trying to show her she'd be fine years to come.

''I'm ready, Emma,'' she whispered, a reminiscent smile on her wrinkled face.

The other woman, with only few gray hair, smiled sadly. ''I'm not, Regina.''

''We'll meet soon enough, love,'' she whispered. ''But you need to make sure our great-grandchildren know about our story.''

The blonde chuckled. ''You think I'll live that long?''

''I know so.''

One last kiss, and the blue eyes filled with tears as she closed her eyes and slipped away, seeing her in-laws.

''Welcome, Regina,'' Snow White said hugging her.

''Took you long enough,'' she teased her True Love.

''Had to make sure our lineage was secured, dear.'' The blonde grinned cheekily, her face and hair back to what they were when they first met.

''I love you.'' She kissed the other woman, before giving the younger woman time with her parents, and grandparents, she had never met before.

For a moment she let herself think about her messy ties with her wife's family, but shrugged it off as her mother came next to her to watch the reunion of her wife's family.

''I'm glad I did what I did,'' her mother mused sadly. ''In a way. Otherwise you wouldn't be this happy with Emma.''

''Everything happened the way they were supposed to, Mother.''

The older woman smiled softly. ''I do wish though I would've been nicer to your father,'' she said, glancing behind her to see him. ''But we have each other now.''

Emma and Regina walked around the garden, hands intertwined, as they conversed of the years they had been apart, reminding each other how much they loved each other and how much they had missed the other.

In years to come they would get their son and two daughters with them as well as their families, but for now it was their time to enjoy being alone, before receiving their children again.

Their mothers watched them walk around the garden, the brunette sometimes stopping and pointing at something, while stopping to kiss or hug every two minutes.

''I can't believe that after everything, we'd be mothers-in-law for each others daughters,'' the younger woman commented, with a smile.

The older woman smiled. ''But how glad are we to have our daughters this happy.''

The two agreed on that, and with proud and happy looks watched their shared daughters, content on how everything turned out.
