POSITIVE, NEGATIVE
Cold.
That was all Knuckles could feel as he hung from his wrists, shackled to the dungeon wall. Pain had ceased to be of any matter to him, and he'd gotten over the loneliness. He felt blind; everything was shrouded in darkness, except when she came to visit. That door at the top of the concrete staircase would open, and all that light would pour into the room. Then one shadow would be cast on the floor next to him, and he'd know immediately that it wasn't a rescuer.
"Unnh." he muttered, flexing the muscles in his arms, trying in vain to break free of the shackles, ".No good."
The door swung open, and Knuckles' eyes glanced down at the shadow on the floor; he was praying it was someone who'd found out where he was being held captive. His heart sank as he recognized the shadow: Tall, curved, and winged.
Rouge.
She came down the staircase elegant and flowing, like she always did, her grace only one-upped by her beauty. Which was, in turn, one-upped by her sarcastic wit and twisted, evil mind. "And how's my little Echidna plaything doing today," her cruel-yet-soothing voice asked, "Hmm?"
"I'm not any better than yesterday, you bitch." Knuckles hissed, straining in his bonds, "Why bother asking me that every day you come down here? You know the damned answer." Hate flared in his cobalt blue eyes as he silently wished for Rouge's sudden demise.
Rouge giggled, walking up to Knuckles and placing one delicate finger on the tip of his nose. "It would be wise of you not to call your mistress a bitch," she quipped, leaning in very close to Knuckles, her hot breath playing against Knuckles' neck, "Otherwise, I might have to punish you."
Knuckles cursed to himself, knowing full well what Rouge was capable of, especially since she had the upper hand in this situation. "Sorry." he grumbled, shutting his eyes.
"Sorry what?" She obviously expected Knuckles to have said something else.
Knuckles cursed under his breath, and then said, "Sorry, mistress."
Rouge giggled again, leaning up and kissing Knuckles on the cheek. "That's better." she laughed, turning on one heel and going back up the steps, shouting back to her captive Echidna, "No punishment today, Knuckles! You were good, for once!" The door slammed tightly, sending a clattering echo through the dungeon. Knuckles' eyes had been shrouded in the darkness again.
Knuckles growled angrily, making another desperate burst to free himself. Of course, this only hurt his arms and wrists more. He sighed, hanging his head in shame and sadness. He could only force out one sentence; one sentence on how he felt about this whole terrible situation.
"Fuck, it's dark in here."
