He was a shell of broken memories. Her smile made his worries and fear fade away, how could he have that now when she left him? He never was brave enough to say I love you, the night he had enough courage she slipped away into the shadows, she disappeared. There was no trace of Maka Albarn.
He sat in a stump of depression without his meister by his side what else was he supposed to do? He couldn't fight on his own? He couldn't live with any of his other friends. she left him, she broke him. Who knew that Soul Eater Evans could be broken by such a nerd?
Blair stood at the door tears rolling from her eyes as she read the only thing Maka left behind.
One silly little note that made Souls heart break in a million pieces.
Soul,
I know you didn't want it to ever come to this, ever. But, it's time for me to leave. You've been such an arrogant and snarky partner but I guess that's what made me choose you all those years ago. When papa died, I thought I was the worst daughter for my actions towards him but you made me smile and start to let happiness invade my life again, for that I thank you. I will surely miss the excitement in your eyes before we started fighting and the amazing tea you made only for special occasions, I will certainly miss hearing you play the piano late at night when you can't sleep.
Remember when we made you into a death scythe? You were so happy you cried and hugged me so tight I couldn't breathe. I had never seen you so happy and within seconds you started crying tears of sadness because you didn't want to stop working with me so I started crying with you. Thanks to you, that was the best day of my life.
I probably won't ever return to death city, I beg you please, don't search for me. This isn't the end on Maka and Soul, I'm sure we will meet again in another life and go on wild adventures again, this life time is just the end of the road for us. I won't be offended if you find another meister or if you destroy the house in anger after reading this letter, I can not promise that I won't regret this decsion and not want to just run back to the apartment and continue my life with you. Just know that I will miss you immensely, and I'm sorry more than anything in the world that I have to leave. Soul, you've been my partner, my best friend, companion and my rock through and through, I love you dearly and I will never forget you.
Farewell and good luck with your oh, so cool life. I can't wait until I hear about you getting married and having mini Souls running around death city, the thought brings a smile and a tear to my face. Remember I love you.
Sincerely Maka.
The note was stained with her tear. He couldn't have a cool life without her, she was the coolest partner, the coolest best friend. He saw her more cool than he could ever be. He missed his meister, he didn't care if he got shamed for being meisterless, he wouldn't let anyone wield him, unless they were her.
Blair wailed, falling to the floor in a puddle of tears. Souls eyes were drained, he cried so much there was nothing left. He was in her room, it was so empty and dark but he could still sense her in the room. It was the only thing that comforted him.
She left him, she had promised she wouldn't leave. How could he not go to look for her, tell how stupid it was to up and leave him, but she said what she said and he couldn't disobey his meister.
She left behind her childhood teddy bear for him just so he had something to remember her by. He looked out her large window. He hoped she was looking at the same grinning moon as he. She was looking up at the same sky with tears running down her cheek.
They would meet again, in another life.
