Loosely based off of DetouredBe's story, Bright and Alert as Always, but with a different twist.
The evening Fidget brought Mr. Flaversham over to Ratigan's hideout, Ratigan went to find his right-hand man, Fidget, who was sleeping soundly on the faucet of the rum barrel, which led into the dance room. Ratigan called out Fidget's name just to get his attention, but much to the rat's disgust, the bat was still asleep and laughing. He called again, but it was all the same. Grr! What could possibly be wrong with him tonight? Ratigan wondered, Why is he difficult? Is he really that tired?
He tried tapping Fidget on the shoulder to get him to wake up. Even that didn't help Ratigan get where he wanted the bat to be. So, Ratigan picked up his feather pen. Hmm, maybe this'll help awaken him, the rat thought, as he attempted to wake up the bat by tickling him. To his astonishment, Fidget still hadn't wakened, he still continued his remnants of his slumber. Ratigan growled in contempt. How will he ever wake up? That I don't know.
Since the feather idea didn't work, he took a stab at yelling at the bat again.
After so many attempts the rat had failed with the bat, who had been too deeply asleep to hear anything, including his shouts, Ratigan finally shouted, "I GIVE UP!" With that, he made his way into his room and kicked a box that stood before him in frustration. To his downfall, the box landed on top of him.
This time as Fidget slept, he giggled louder than he intended.
Ratigan recovered, picked up his mess, and sulkily walked to his bedroom, while Fidget continued napping in peace.
The End
AN: Ratigan may be out of character to some, but I thought it'd be funny if he actually DID give up. Hope all of you enjoyed this piece!
