A/N: I'm not actually that good at writing stuff like this (so please be nice to me) but this show has taken over my life and I have to do something while I wait for new episodes...so here's a little thing.
He realizes, in absolute mortification, that he's staring at her again. This happens all the time now, more often than he cares to admit, and it's only getting worse. He finds himself subconsciously standing outside her door before he goes to bed, watching her as she sleeps, looking so gentle and innocent.
Yeah right.
She looks gentle and innocent like that only when she sleeps. Because then there are all the times she throws people across the street, and spins cars around, and gets drunk and rips poles straight out of the ground, and those make it even worse, because he stares at her and keeps staring and can't look away.
At first he just chalked it up to innocent curiosity—Why is she so strong? How strong is she exactly? Where did her powers come from? How does it work?—but now that's only an excuse. Now she's talking to that awful cop on the phone, her voice soft, smooth, and dripping with honey as she tries to sound demure and innocent, and he can feel the rage build up inside him. That idiot cop. He always calls her weak. She can't even be herself around him. She is pretending to be something she's not.
And he can't stand it. What makes her so enticing anyway is the fire, the barbed comments, her confidence and ability. Hearing her promise to protect him. How unafraid she is, of everything.
Anyway, this cop who she is so in love with doesn't see her as she is. She hides herself from him. Gook Du doesn't know her at all.
I am the one who knows her, he thinks, and he pulls up to a stoplight, unable to take his eyes off of her because she is so strong and kind of terrifying and bizarre and unlike anything he has ever faced before and he loves everything about it. Everything about her. He loves that he is the one who knows the truth about her abilities and he is the one she told her fears and concerns to about using her powers for good and he is the one she has agreed to let help her. He wants to go on helping her for the rest of forever. He wants to be the one to stay by her side.
She is still falsely trying to seduce that stupid cop and he forgets that time even exists until a car honks loudly behind him, indicating that the light has been green for several seconds now, and he realizes that he has been staring at her like that for a minute or two, completely unconscious of anything or anyone else.
She glares at him as he abruptly turns his eyes back to the road. "What are you doing?!" she whisper-shouts at him, her hand over the mouthpiece on her phone so the cop won't know she's capable of getting angry. "Pay attention!"
He doesn't offer an explanation as he slams down the gas pedal with a little too much force, because the only explanation is that she is coming to mean more to him than he ever bargained for and he doesn't know what to do about it.
