Well it's been such a long time…I think I should be adding that ending I promised since it's been 2 years…oof it's dusty! Gonna separate this into at least 3 or 4 chapters. Here goes anything!

Despite the ever present sting in her backside, Ahsoka eagerly made her way out of her room and into the main hall of the Jedi Temple. She had made Anakin a promise, and it was one she knew she couldn't break. As for her heavy handed mentor, he would be busy with the interrogation of Car Affa. This would be a difficult assignment, but one that would definitely prove herself to Anakin as being trustworthy once more. At least that's how she saw it.

"After all, what's a Jedi Knight without their lightsaber" she said to herself.

'You're not a Jedi Knight though…not yet at least' she thought inwardly.

The young Togrutan quietly made her way to the library. The best way to start her search would be best served if she had some assistance. Who better to help than Madame Jocasta Nu? Hastening her stride she arrived in the vast area known as the Archives. The cavernous room seemed to only get larger as she progressed into the area. Sitting quietly at one of the many tables was the Jedi librarian, focused on a datapad before her.

"Greetings Madame Jocasta" Ahsoka said softly.

Turning her attention away from the information before her, the elderly woman looked up at the young padawan and smiled. Ahsoka Tano was the kind of padawan that she enjoyed having in her company.

"Ahsoka! Welcome my dear" the woman said warmly.

Ahsoka bowed her head ever so slightly as she stood before Nu.

"Thank you Madame" Feeling rather embarrassed, Ahsoka grabbed onto her left arm as she briefly reconsidered enlisting the elder Jedi's assistance.

Noting the rather nervous stance the younger girl held, Nu pressed forth gently with a question.

"Is there something I can help you with dear? You look a bit tense"

Knowing she couldn't weave her way around this, Ahsoka plowed straight forward with her request.

"I lost my lightsaber today. A pickpocket snatched it from me while I was on a mission with my master. Is there any way you can help me find him?"

Jocasta stood up and motioned for Ahsoka to follow her. The two slowly walked between the rows of archives

"I'm sure that if you explain your loss to your Master, he'll understand" Jocasta suggested as they walked.

Ahsoka looked away from the older woman, her lekku darkened ever so slightly. She could still feel the burning sensation in her bottom. Lying to Madame Jocasta may not seem like a bad idea, but knowing Anakin; he would not be thrilled if he ever found out. Out with the truth then.

"I…already told him…he wasn't exactly thrilled. He won't be able to assist me because the Council needs him for interrogating Car Affa."

Though not entirely sure how 'thrilled' the well-known volatile Jedi was, Nu sensed that it did not end well for his apprentice. Not wanting to force the young girl to explain what had occurred between them, Jocasta led Ahsoka to a computer terminal. She promptly sat down and began sifting through files of various criminals associated with theft.

"This set of archive data contains the lists of all known thieves who live on Coruscant."

Ahsoka's hopes seemed to just barely lift as she stood behind the librarian and looked on at the various mugshots. However, as time passed, Ahsoka felt less and less enthusiastic about the chances of finding the pickpocket. Her unease became noticeable to Nu, who despite her best efforts, could not seem to find the mystery man they were looking for.

Finally after what seemed like hours, Ahsoka's patience ran out as she turned away from the terminal

"Ugh! There has to be a better way to find this thief." She said in a defeated tone.

Jocasta turned and looked at the padawan. Her expression was of sorrow and despair. Ahsoka bowed her head. Her downcast body language made her look upset.

"I'm sorry. Pickpockets are not in my field of expertise."

At that very moment the young Togruta was on the brink of tears. Everything seemed hopeless and completely against her.

"At this rate it'll take me years to find him"

Realizing that her young companion was ready to quit, Jocasta remembered that there was one person who would be able to assist Ahsoka.

"I might have another idea…there. That, is Tera Sinube."

Ahsoka looked over in the direction Nu was pointing to and spotted the person she was describing. She didn't exactly jump as it looked like Sinube was…asleep?

"He's an elder Jedi, he happens to be an expert on the Coruscant crime world."

As they approached, Ahsoka realized that the 'Crime Expert' was dozing off at his terminal. This alone made her feel as if enlisting his assistance was a bad idea.

"I think he's sleeping" she said rather unconvinced.

"Yes...? Well, he will be able to help you." Nu said with an air of confidence.

Trying her best not to startle the old man, Ahsoka gently walked up next to him and tried to wake him up.

"Uhh…Pardon me Master Sinube?"

The Cosian Jedi shook as he woke up. Having not yet realized that someone was speaking to him, Sinube looked around in confusion before noticing a Togrutan girl standing next to him. Not wishing to seem like an old man, the Jedi elder concocted an explanation for his seemingly senior act of dozing off.

"I was just resting my eyes" he said somewhat believably.

"Hello Master Sinube" Nu said kindly.

The Cosian turned as his longtime friend addressed him.

"Good evening Jocasta"

He turned his attention back to the girl that had approached him first. He couldn't place her nor tell if she was padawan or not.

"I don't know you…do I?"

Ahsoka took note of the elder man's confused expression. She tried her best to be patient with the obviously advanced senior before her.

"My name is Ahsoka Tano. I was told you could help me?"

Not fully understanding what she was getting on about, Tera pressed her for an answer.

"Help You?"

Before either could continue, Jocasta excused herself from the conversation and departed for elsewhere in the Archives. Sinube refocused back to Ahsoka and she continued.

"A thief stole my lightsaber and I only got a quick look at him. I-I could tell he definitely came from one of the aquatic planets…you know, one of the water worlds?"

Not realizing that she was in a laughing mood, the old man tried to lighten up the atmosphere with a dry joke.

"So, what you're saying is, there was something 'fishy' about him?" he chuckled.

Ahsoka was not amused and it was clear in her sideways glance at him that she was not in the mood for games. Sinube quickly noticed her 'get serious' expression and wiped his face clear of humor.

"Well let's try and see where he went, shall we?" he motioned to the monitor before him and began to search. Ahsoka immediately began describing the events leading up to the theft of her lightsaber.

"We were in the slum district: G17."

The Jedi Investigator immersed himself into filtering out the possible locations the pickpocket would have gone. His mind raced and began to consider as many possibilities as he could.

"Where would he go? Your little pickpocket? To a gangster hideout? Unlikely but possible. Maybe the gun market? To sell the lightsaber. Within the radius…Just a moment. Let me see…"

While he deciphered the identity of the thief, Ahsoka stood behind him with an air of frustration and impatience. At this rate she would be the same age as the senior citizen Jedi Master by the time she found her weapon.

"He was a Patrolian. That's a fish guy. Maybe…is it one of these fishes?" Sinube said after opening a screen of fish-like criminals.

She felt her gut knot when she looked at the screen. Of the 6 fish she could see, one stuck out to her and she felt a sense of hope.

"That's him!" she pointed out happily.

"Interesting indeed" Tera remarked.

Opening up the file, the old man perused the information before him. As far as thieves went, he wasn't much to take note of. Relatively low level offenses and not too particularly dangerous. At least not to a Jedi.

"According to the file, his name is Bannamu. A petty thief. He hangs out in the slum districts."

The young Togruta bubbled with excitement and confidence. Her thief now had a name and an address. All she would have to do now was make her way to the slums and bang! Nab the little punk and get back what was rightfully hers! Without waiting for more information, she rushed her gratitude to the Jedi Investigator.

"Thank you Master Sinube!" Ahsoka said as she tried to get away from him.

"I'm sure I-" he began.

"Your help has been invaluable" she cut him off.

I don't have time to chat I gotta go! She thought to herself in mild irritation.

"You're welcome" he got barely got through.

At this point he knew the teen would rush her search and miss her lightsaber. Sinube decided in that instant that Ahsoka needed to learn patience. That and he wanted a piece of the action as well.

"If there's anything I can do-"

"Yes there is. I haven't been on assignment in years. And if you don't slow down, you're not going to find what you're looking for. I'll come with you."

Ahsoka felt a sense of dread and annoyance. The old man would only slow her down. She made a promise to her Master and with Sinube along, it would only take longer to get her weapon back. This was not how she expected the search to go.

"Okay gramps…it would be…nice to have company." She said in a strained yet enthusiastic tone.

"Splendid!" Sinube said heartily.

The two ventured out of the archive room. Ahsoka would try her best to maintain a positive attitude despite the tag-along Jedi Master. As they exited the Library, Ahsoka waved goodbye to Madame Jocasta and started for the hangar. In spite of her current predicament, the teen felt as though she should apologize.

I shouldn't have called him gramps. He's a Jedi Master. A padawan showing disrespect to a master displays immaturity and arrogance. If Anakin had seen that he probably would've scolded me. Respect is paramount between Jedi. I didn't show respect to my Master when I lied to his face. I knew I shouldn't have and yet I did. My impulsiveness landed me in trouble with Anakin and I paid the price for that. Maybe Master Sinube is right, I need to slow down. If I had just stopped and told him the truth, he would've been upset yes, but I wouldn't have gotten spanked for it.

"Master Sinube…I-I'm sorry. I shouldn't have referred to you as gramps." Ahsoka said as they continued through the Temple corridors.

Sinube remained silent as they continued along. Though he knew wanted to tell her it was alright, he could sense that there was more to what the young girl had to say. Not wanting to prod her too much he simply grunted in response to her statement.

"Mhmm"

Ahsoka felt as though she should explain and pressed on in her explanation.

"It's just…I let my master down and lost my weapon. All I want to do is make everything right. But it's no excuse for me being disrespectful to you."

"We all have our faults. For some it is being impulsive and for others, being overconfident. It is not merely about right and wrong, but rather being able to know when one is exhibiting said faults."

Ahsoka smiled faintly at hearing his words of kindness and wisdom.

Maybe there's more than meets the eye to him after all.
