Chapter 2

As the girl, named Adora, woke up, she saw that she was surrounded by the large deer and the others. Now feeling afraid, she jumped up and ran towards the outside!

Now startled by the girl's movement, Bambi saw her make a break to get away and he only shook his head.

"Where does she think she's going?! It's dangerous out there," he said, now standing and going after her.

"Bambi! Be careful of man," Faline said in concern.

"Don't worry; I've got to get that human female back though," he said, now chasing after the girl. After a few minutes, Adora stopped and looked in the distance.

"I have to get out of here," she said, now bending down a nearby pond and getting a drink with her hands. But she swirled around as she heard the bushes rustling and moving. And it was none other than Bambi! He looked around to see if she was near and when his eyes landed on her he gave a confident smirk.

"Now human, come here," he chuckled, now coming forward.

"You stay away from me!" She said, not understanding him.

"Human, there's no need to fear," he said gently, still coming forward.

"Now you…," she started.

"Human!" he said, now seeing her accidentally bang her head on a nearby tree branch.

"OW!" She said, now rubbing her head. It definitely hurt and she was so busy rubbing it that she didn't see Bambi almost in front of her.

"Are you hurt?" Came a gentle question. Her eyes opened wider and wider as she stared at him.

"W-What…?" She said in shock.

"I asked if you are hurt," he said again, now getting closer.

"I-I can…hear….what?! This is impossible!" She said in shock. Bambi stared at her in realization for a moment and then his eyes widened in wonder.

"Are you saying you can understand me? A man usually cannot understand my species," Bambi said.

"This is impossible!" Adora said, now panicking hard.

"Human…," he said softly.

"I've gotta get outta here! I hit my head and now I can understand animals!" She said in horror.

"Human," he chuckled, now getting closer.

"This is EEEEEK!" She said in shock as he licked her on her face.

"Calm down," he said with a small smile, now giving her a friendly nudge. "These woods are made of wonder that man cannot understand; you possibly have run across some of its' hidden magic."

"But…," she said.

"Are you here to hunt?" Bambi asked seriously.

"No. I would never hurt animals. I only came to study them and I got separated from my dad," she said.

"Then…that must be why you can finally understand me. You are being pure about being here and being one with nature. You're not here to kill," Bambi said. "Man is usually not welcome in these woods."

Those words made Adora gulp and try to move back, but Bambi walked forward and gave her a small smile.

"Wait. I did not mean you. You are not a threat…if anything you feared me when we first met," he chuckled.

"But why did you help me? Especially if you hate man," Adora asked.

"Because you've shown me something different human." He said.

Adora gave him a small smile and then walked towards the large deer.

"I would never want to harm any animal. And…my name isn't human. I'm Adora." She said with a smile.

"And I am Bambi, the Prince of the Forest," he smiled, now nodding for her to follow him. As they were walking, Thumper and Flower came out of the bushes and stared in shock at the new girl.

"B-Bambi…she's still here?" Thumper asked.

"Yes and she is going to be our guest for a little bit until she returns home," Bambi said softly.

"But she's man…," Flower said in concern.

Adora sadly saw their faces, still somewhat fearful. Even Bambi was still somewhat guarded and she understood why. She turned back and began to walk into the bushes, but Bambi quickly walked in front of her.

"Wait…where are you going?" He asked.

"I am going to find my dad. I know that you all don't trust me and I don't blame you. People have hunted in these woods and I'm sure destroyed many lives that lived here," she said, now looking at the ground.

"I-I don't want to talk about what has happened here, but yes…man has killed many that have lived here," Bambi said sadly.

"Man killed his mom!" Thumper blurted out. Bambi looked at him in agitation and Adora's eyes welled up with tears and her face took on a look of horror. Bambi looked back at her and gave her a sympathetic look.

"Adora…listen…you…," he said. But that was too much for her. She darted up a tree as quick as lightning and pulled her knees up to her chest and she put her head down and began to sob. Just hearing that hunters ruined their lives like that made her sick to her stomach.

"Adora! Adora, please come down!" Bambi pleaded, now standing up on his hind legs. "You are not responsible! Please listen to me!"

"You shouldn't have said that, Thumper," Flower said, now looking at the rabbit.

"I know," he said, now hanging his head.

"Guys, we have to get her down," Bambi said, now getting their attention. The two nodded and climbed up on Bambi's back and he lifted them up into the tree. "Adora, they're coming up."

"Please, I just want to be alone," she said, now seeing Flower and Thumper climbing up near her.

"Sorry, but you are not allowed to be alone," Bambi smirked, now seeing Faline come and join him.

"You are a good human," Flower said sweetly, now placing a paw on her leg.

"Please don't cry, human," Thumper said, now trying to move her head up.

"Her name is Adora, guys…now get her down here," Bambi said in concern. Thumper was thoughtful, but then he got a devious gleam in his eyes. He began using his nose to tickle on her legs and Flower did the same.

"EEEEEEEEEEK! No! That tickles," she laughed, now feeling them tickle her more as she wiped her tears a bit. As they did, they finally convinced her to come down and she was met with friendly licks and love from Faline and Bambi.

"We want you to be comfortable around us; we don't want you to feel like you have to fear us," Bambi said. "You are not responsible for my mother's death and I want you to trust me."

"I understand, Bambi, but I am still sorry for what man has done," she said, now hugging him around his neck and hugging the others. "You all will always have a friend in me. I have moved close by and I feel like I will be in these woods more often."

"Really?" Faline smiled.

"Yes, because I am part of a team. A team that can stop hunting in these woods for good," she said gently. They all looked at her and then crowded her with licks and cuddles of gratitude.

"This is proof that not all of man is bad." Faline said.

"Some of them are wonderful," Thumper said as she hugged him.

"Some of them are kind," Flower said, now rubbing against her.

"And some of them are our friends. Welcome to our family, Adora," Bambi cooed, now letting her hug his strong neck. What else happened you ask? Adora continued to visit her friends now and then and she actively helped them to keep their forest safe and sound.
