Rin absolutely loved the group his brother was forced to teach. Despite it being under the circumstances it was under, he was loving the experience. Rin knew he would have to find some way to convince his brother and dad to go camping together once he made his way back home. Even if he had to do so dragging. Granted, he wasn't friends with any of the students. Not really. But he was thoroughly entertained by the situation.

There was a twinge of sadness and envy, knowing he wouldn't have a chance at such friendships like the three boys or the two girls had. Sure he had the angels to talk and interact with and he loved Metatron dearly as a friend and uncle figure. And he couldn't imagine his life without them either. But there was that envy seeing other people able to interact freely with their friends and not look crazy was something he craved. His eyes went over to Shura.

She was the only other person he ever met that could see the angels like he could. But was she really a friend? Or just someone who Shiro trusted? It was a souring feeling in his stomach. He hated the feeling. It was the one sour feeling in an otherwise amusing and fun trip. He was even more thrilled to hear that Raphael had left the group to do whatever he normally did when he wasn't with Shura.

It was when night fell that things got a bit more exciting. Apparently the test was a little jaunt in the woods to get some kind of lantern Metatron told him was a large demon with a taste for fire. Rin had to admit, he was kind of curious about it. But considering they were supposed to bring them back, he knew he was going to see one. Once the students were gone, Rin decided to try and play it safe, despite the want to hang out with his brother.

"I will be right back Yukio-chan!" Rin proclaimed standing up. "Stay safe," Rin commented.

"Magdalene-san, where are you going?" Yukio questioned.

"Oh, you know, nature's call and all." He chuckled seeing Yukio take on a slightly embarrassed look.

"Ah. Take your time."

Rin waved as he walked into the woods. He waited until he was a safe distance away and removed his mask. He did actually do what he had told Yukio and Shura he was off doing when a sudden chill went down his spine. He paused for a moment, zipped up and slipped his mask back on his face.

There was a demon nearby. Something strong. Something not like the lantern demon. There was only the sound of scuttling insects growing more agitated around him.

"Demon, or just the bugs?" Rin muttered aloud. He half wished Metatron hadn't been in some discussion with Sandalphon and Ariel when he had left to relive himself. With slight apprehension, he pulled out the sword that the Vatican bestowed on him and stood ready to strike. Then, a loud crunch was heard.

"Don't look like one of the little in training ones," a dull, unemotional voice spoke. Rin didn't whip his head to the voice. Instead, he altered the grip on his blade and slowly turned to face a peculiar looking man with green hair, with a large point near the back. His eyes were similarly shaped to Samael, and he was clearly a demon. Rin hated to think that he may in fact be one of the demon kings.

"My apologies. I'm not. Just a person here to make sure things go well."

"Mmmm," the demon king hummed as he twirled a small lollipop stick in his hand, clearly just been eaten. His head tilted slightly and his eyes narrowed in on the sword Rin held.

"That's quite the sword you have there. I thought that it was locked up with the exorcists," he commented, a slightly manic note in his words.

"It was. Now I wield it."

It looked to be the wrong thing to say as a manic grin came to the green haired being's face.

"You must be strong then. Let's play."

Rin was barely able to get his blade up in time to parry the demon's swipe.

The demon seemed only more amused that the game wasn't over like he seemed to have anticipated.

Rin looked at the demon's ears as he gave a bit of distance between them. He didn't know how well those long ears could hear, so he refrained from even muttering a call for the angel's help. He instead focused on the fight and fell into the fighting stance he learned from Michael. The demon attempted to strike him once more, aiming for his face. Rin lowered his head and attempted to slash at the demon's forearm. The demon nimbly moved out of the way.

The earth seemed to grow soft down beneath him and jumped off the rapidly appearing quicksand.

It was with that, he was fairly certain he knew exactly who the green haired person was.

"You are certainly very skilled, demon king Amaimon," Rin growled.

"You aren't the most boring plaything either," Amaimon chuckled. An unsettling look came to his face.

"I hope you don't die too soon. Big brother doesn't let me play with the baby exorcists. And I haven't been able to play in a while."

"You enjoy games?" Rin commented, a bit louder than before, hoping his voice would carry to a hopefully curious angel or Shura. He didn't want the defenseless students or his brother to get caught in what was sure to be a difficult fight. He took a gamble and moved forward to strike Amaimon. Amaimon easily dodged by jumping over Rin. His clawed fingers slashed as his back making Rin howl out in pain.

His back stung terribly from the deep cuts and he could feel blood come out rather quickly. He dimly noted that he had never felt quite a pain as deep or as distracting as what the demon king no doubt just casually inflicted.

"Your blood... It smells off," the Amaimon commented.

"Smelling blood, that's gross," Rin tried to distract.

Amaimon shrugged his shoulders and focused on what was important. The little game of cat and mouse he was starting. He got close and kicked Rin in his chest. Rin cried out in shock and pain but was able to keep his wits about him to strike Amaimon as he was pushed back by the kick. His sword was able to cut his hand, albeit, a rather shallow injury.

"You're only able to do this? You are boring. Maybe I should see if anyone else here is more fun," Amaimon casually threw out.

Rin growled. He could take hits, but he would not let anyone get hurt if he could help it. Gone was the idea of just admitting he could see angels and calling them for help. He was the son of Satan, a devout follower of god. He wouldn't let one of the demon king's hurt anyone if he could help it. Small flames of pride and wrath burned in him.

With pain and adrenaline now kicking in, he felt a small inferno burning inside him. His blue eyes locked on Amaimon from behind his mask. His hands tightened around his sword. He charged forward once more, the glint of the moon reflecting off the steel. Amaimon dodged it again, the blade instead slashing a tree he had been in front of. Amaimon's eyes widened as Rin immediately focused on the demon king, ignoring the slash mark he made to the tree that seemed to be burning a hot white. The slash mark on the tree quickly erupted into ethereal blue flames.

The flames didn't leave the one tree, but their light chased away the night and any other light in the area seemed nonexistent.

"Father?" Amaimon breathed. Rin responded with a howl as he surged forward, faster than he had ever run before. His blade poised to stab Amaimon, to hurt him so he couldn't take away what Rin deemed as his. His blade flickered under the blue light of the flames, dancing and changing, glowing more white than blue. Amaimon narrowly avoided the blade, his coat being caught and burning white, then blue. He slashed at Rin's face, a piece of the mask breaking off, revealing a bright blue and furious eye.

"Don't even think about touching one hair on their heads," Rin roared. Rin thrust his sword forward, stabbing Amaimon in his chest. The demon king of earth screeched feeling heat pour off the blade. He grabbed Rin's shoulders and threw Rin back into a tree.

"No, you're not father. No... You're Father's little human hell spawn," he commented in a monotone. "Little brother."

Rin glared hatefully at the demon king. Amaimon tilted his head.

"You are interesting," Amaimon commented. His lips peeled back into a grin. "So you are an interesting playmate."

Amaimon charged and tackled Rin to the ground, his head hitting the ground. Rin's vision was swimming. He looked Amaimon in the face and spat in his eye.

Metatron, Sandalphon, and Ariel whipped their heads in the direction Rin had left to utilize a tree, getting Shura's drunken attention. She darted her eyes in the direction Rin "Magdalene" had gone off.

"Something wrong Shura?" Yukio asked.

"Nah. Just gotta take a leak. Be right back four eyes."

Yukio rolled his eyes. Shura began to walk with Metatron flying alongside her. She waited until she was out of sight before running. Her heart seemed to stop seeing a flash of bright blue fire burst into existence.

Shura's eyes widened. The miasma of hatred and the blue flames now painting the forest from one single spot could only be Satan.

The two continued on to see the demon earth king pinning Rin on the ground near the burning tree.

"Rin!" Shura cried out. Metatron charged forward, a lance materializing in his hand made of a soft glowing metal like material. Amaimon jumped to avoid the angel's weapon. A twinge of fear appeared in his eyes coming face to face with an archangel. Though demon kings could go toe to toe with the angelic warriors, he knew that it would only draw the attention of Samael. Samael would not be pleased if he learned that he had fought an archangel on essentially school grounds.

But more importantly, he wanted to avoid the blessed weapon making contact, especially after being struck by his younger brother's flaming sword.

In his focus on the angel, he missed the second swordsman's arrival and was nearly struck by her blade.

He glowered at the two who now stood as opponents. The angel looked impassively at him, then back to Rin. Amaimon could hear the labored breathing of Rin as his body was damaged from their little play time.

Amaimon made a decision then and there. He struck the ground, the earth shaking aggressively beneath them. The ground began to break apart and Rin, along with the burning tree fell into the crumbling earth from the quake.

"RIN!" Metatron cried out. Shura used her blade to dig into and hold onto a tree. She watched as Metatron dove down into the new ground cavern as the blue flames died down within. She watched in anger as the demon king then covered the cavern, essentially burying Rin alive.

"Big brother will be mad if I stay any longer. I'll play with you later," he said in a carefree manner. Shura watched as the demon king left, a heavy pit in her stomach knowing that there was little chance anyone could have survived a fall like that, especially with the flames of Satan burning with them. And being covered up...

She closed her eyes and did something she never had done before. She prayed. No one deserved to die like that. Especially not Shiro's kid. Not Yukio's brother.

When her eyes opened, she saw something lying on the ground, different from the rubble and the minor destruction. She walked over to the glimmering object to see a piece of the mask Rin had been wearing, an eye of the identity of Magdalene.

At least she could say that the helper was gone. Died fighting a demon king. And Satan.

Deep underground, Metatron sat by Rin's side, using holy water to clean the deep cuts on his back, and his angelic presence to encourage him to heal. He removed the broken mask from Rin's face and slipped it into his own bag. His wings lay over him to keep him safe and warm from any potential underground demons. The flames on the tree began to die down, mere embers of the inferno they once were.

A mix of anxiety and hope radiated from Metatron. The flames, while blue held a slightly different energy to the flames of Satan. They burned a bit cleaner, a bit brighter, and most of all, a bit more pure than the fallen angel of hell. His flames were near the same color as Satan's flames, just before he fell.

First it was Zoldyck's Doctor, then Son of the Archer and the Year of the Egos, then Galra?, and now The highest power. Four days, four story updates and I am freaking loving it. Hope you all are doing well in this time of mass chaos, disease and mayhem. I know I'm surviving, still working at a grocery store so, there is that.

And well, it's been a while since I've updated this one. And Shura, poor Shura has no idea.
