"2B. I can fly us down to the location of the Beyond"

The land settled with one last rumble as the spacecraft ground to a standstill, a grey and brown mass that was clearly out of place against the natural greens and blues of the forest and sky in the afternoon.

2B scoffed unknowingly. It was her way to show surprise at the titan's words.

This big metal thing? 2B looked at BT, trying to imagine the titan with the wings and halo of an angel. 2B had to push her lips together to stop herself from laughing at him.

She felt she was not the same android who followed the commander's orders to the letter.

"2B. An analysis indicates an increase of wind speed, although it is still possible to fly."

"Yeah, I've felt it too." A light breeze brushed against her, but the way the clouds were getting dragged up and moved as quick as it did, became a clear sign of a change about to arrive.

"Due to an increased risk of falling hazards, it has become necessary for you to occupy the compartment reserved for pilots."

"Right..."

2B climbed into the titan's giant hand, which brought her to where it's face would be. It sprung upwards, revealing a seat surrounded with a bunch of buttons and switches. She hopped in, and the lid closed.

It was dark for a moment, then 2B's vision lit up light as feeds of the outside entered her vision like pieces of a puzzle.

"So this is what a pilot sees..." Scanning the cockpit, 2B found what was probably the controls for the pilot to... well pilot the titan.

"2B. We are about to take off, try to hold on tight, so as to not damage into any of the controls".

The cockpit rumbled slightly, and for a moment 2B thought it had something to do with the spacecraft. But then the ground beneath her began to retract, and she knew that the titan was really flying.

"You really can do everything, BT."

The titan didn't answer.

From a distance, the titan BT-7274 would have looked much like some kind of giant bird. But there was no flapping of wings, or feathers. Instead, BT was a giant machine, that as using jet boosters to propel himself towards the newest point of interest in whatever adventure he was in.

"Although my previous pilot, Jack Cooper praised the loadout "Northstar" for its ability to fly, the pilot disliked the weapon attached to it."

"So why couldn't you just use another weapon from a different loadout?"

The android did not receive an answer. In fact, the titan did not speak until the crashed spacecraft filled her entire vision. Ironically, her vision should have been blinded.

"2B, we are approaching the Beyond. Sensors indicate the damage of the crash has caused a small opening in the starboard side. There is a giant-class gate nearby that you can open, which will allow me to enter the Beyond."

"Right."

The titan landed with a thud, and the lid opened. 2B leaped out, and as her heels landed onto the dirt, she entered into a sprint with unbelievably fast motions. The side of the Beyond looked like it was about to roll over her and flatten her like a machine pancake.

BT was highlighting the crack in the ship with a laser pointer, but 2B was concerned with other things.

A creation of humanity. A space-worthy vessel built by humans, how would it look on the inside? 2B hoped it would be better than the clinical white of the halls of the bunker. More than that, what would a human be like? She imagined faceless human male, anxious to see what they would look like.

The gap in the vessel was a little high. She had to jump to grab onto its ledge. But once she was inside, there were no humans. BT's voice was in her head.

"2B. There is a console that controls the gate. Use it to allow me to enter."

2B followed an image of something highlighted in bright yellow. The inside of the spacecraft was much different than what she imagined. It was a dull and dark metallic, with some yellow on some railings. And even then they were bent and broken out of their original shape. The entire bay was drowned in red emergency lights and blaring horns that were beginning to die out.

The console approached 2B as she hustled through the ship. There was an obvious red button under the words "OPEN GATE". Without thinking, she pressed it.

Afternoon sun spilled into the red bay, and the titan arrived with it.

"Well done 2B. My sensors indicate movement further into the Beyond. There is a corridor that allows titan movement throughout most of the ship. Recommend we use it to rendezvous with the Militia forces."

The android looked through the ship's bay. Although there was debris from the crash partly in the way of the corridor, it was in fact there. The large passageway was accompanied by a smaller, human-sized walkway beside it.

"Alright, let's go."

Although they were together for a while, a time came when BT could not go with her.

"2B, I am picking up militia transmissions coming from a section of the ship I cannot enter. You will have to continue without me. I will remain here, until you return."

The entirety of the ship, apart from the areas close to the outside, was drenched in the red of the emergency lights. BT highlighted the frame of a door that, although was lined with those lights, seemed extremely eerie as it stretched into darkness. It looked out of place from the service ways she and BT had been using.

"I will be able to remain in radio contact, as you rendezvous with the Militia forces."

'Just through here' 2B gave one last look to the titan before she entered into the scary hallway.

After the third red light, the emergency horns died out, and the lights were no more. Usually, her pod would provide a good source of light, but it was currently out of reach. She stepped slowly through the darkness, and thankfully she could not sense any kind of branching path.

Until she went far enough, that the lights returned, but the claxon on the horns was nowhere to be heard.

There it was, slumped on the precipice between a path that could go in three other directions.

Instantly she booked it towards the human. When she arrived, she saw that his chest was barely moving. He turned his face towards her.

"Ru...run away, save yourself..." The soldier gave one final groan and died completely. The soldier was looking right through her, like she was an illusion. His face, as hard as it was to see in the red light, was similar to images in records.

But a quarter of his face wasn't right. It was covered in something red and black. 2B thought it was a burn injury, but as she looked again, she saw that the red and black had a geometric shape. Diamond-like, and sinister. The same pattern was on the soldier's exposed hands. Thin red energy arced and stretched out between the tiny diamonds like miniature lightning bolts coloured red.

2B looked towards the rest of the hallways, two of them were blocked off with scrap and debris, the other one had the sounds of gunshots coming from it.

One giant blast tore though towards her, and the was no more gunshots. 2B abandoned the soldier, and sprinted into it. Eventually it cleared out into a large room that looked like it would be some kind of gathering hall.

Again, there was more downed humans. The same red and black diamonds were arcing over the soldiers. But this time, the plague-like substance stretched onto the metal floor. The bodies began to stir.

They seemed like they were being pulled up by the strings of a puppet. In the red light, 2B saw that the red and black diamonds were quickly spreading over their bodies.

"2B, the Militia forces have been affected by a machine-like symptom that causes them to turn on us. The emergency self-destruct protocol has been initiated, causing detonations throughout several of the Beyond's load-bearing structures, together with the core of the Beyond. Analysis indicates the Beyond will suffer a catastrophic explosion within ten."

"Recommend you return. I have been engaged by the infected Militia have deployed Titans."

The horns came back, and 2B turned the other way and bolted down into the darkness that she came from. It was incredible that she could do this in high heels.

2B emerged from the hallway of darkness, into a fire show of gunfire. BT was moving erratically, and was engaged with several titans within the cramped passageway.

Infected soldiers arrived with the enemy titans, and also came from the doors that connected with the smaller walkway. The guns they were using to attack BT, looked more like they were attached to their arms by the red plague, rather than them actually wielding them.

One of the titans, who looked to be a blue-and-green version of BT fired a barrage of rockets from a huge array that was equipped on it's back. It looked like a swarm of bees trained in on a single point, and lit the dim passage with it's propellant burning up.

In response, BT held a hand towards the storm, and a swirl of energy emerged just like in the city, but was orange in color, and disintegrated the missiles. But after only a second, the force had failed, and the titan was left to face the explosive hail. The next moment, BT lifted both arms, and crushed them against the metal floor.

Along both arms, distinct igniters were visible, and ignited a gas that had been pouring out of some giant canisters left by the enemy titan's legs. A massive explosion consumed them all, leaving them within disintegrating heat.

2B looked the other way, and saw that more titans were closing in. They were all the same vanguard-class, but the first in line moved forward with a giant sword's blade between it and BT. The two behind it looked just as vicious.

The infected soldiers had begun to notice her, and she hid behind the frame of the door when they fired on her.

"2B. The situation has become critical. Remaining here will delay us long enough for the Beyond's explosion to destroy us as well. Immediate exfiltration is required. It has become necessary for you to take shelter within the cockpit, in order to avoid instant fatality from enemy titans."

2B looked at the approaching titans, and the quickly-approaching soldiers before she quickly had to jerk her head back in when an obvious red light stared her right in the eyes.

"All right, on three then."

No response, as BT was fighting the sword titan with an identical sword.

"One..."

It was here that 2B would have said 'two', but a grenade had just rolled into her cover.

"Two-three!" The android launched herself out of the doorway just as BT had deflected an attack from the massive blade. the titan turned aside, and let her into the pilot's seat just as the grenade had blown.

With 2B safely inside the pilot's compartment, BT put the broad side of the sword ahead to deflect the bullets of the mini-gun wielding titan that was starting to lay into it. BT dashed forward.

2B's entire world became a washed-out and colorless gray as the enemy titan disappeared from sight, and BT moved through the space where it had been.

A flash of light, and the color had returned, along with another titan in the way. Again, BT dashed forwards, and the colour disappeared along with the enemy titan.

When they emerged, there was nothing between them left but a few soldiers who couldn't damage BT with their firearms.

Infected soldiers dotted their way to the point in the ship where they had entered, and were easily ignored.

When they reached the giant gate that could admit titans. There was another titan in the way. When BT fired it's weapon, a large shotgun-like gun, the titan deployed a large frontal shield with a hexagon pattern, and began to fire at BT with something resembling an explosive rifle.

BT blocked the attack with the sword, and dashed forward. Before BT could disappear, the titan shot BT with what looked like a beam of electricity, and slowed to a crawl right in front of it. The titan punched BT through the shield and moved him backwards.

"2B. The enemy titan is able to nullify the phase dash used by ronin. Analysis indicates the quickest way to get to safety, is to activate the core ability for ronin; sword core. It is able to ignore the effect of the nullify, and quickly restore the dash charge for increased movement."

"So do it!" 2B half-yelled from within her space.

"Negative. It is impossible to activate sword core without a designated pilot. A neural link is required."

Although BT was behind the sword, the titan was still firing at him with the exploding rifle

"..."

"Enemy titans are approaching from behind. They will engage us within one minute."

2B, who had come back from the dead, wanted so desperately to survive, even if she didn't yet know why.

"Fine, do it."

"Affirmative."

As a green light began to fill the compartment, 2B might have prayed for the process to succeed.
