I'm actually publishing something this summer! (Yay, I'm finally beating my writer's block!) Not so surprisingly it's something angsty. Though surprisingly it's a poem.

ENJOY!

The first thing he remembers, when he thinks about "the day",

Is the laughter, the joy, the brightly shining sun.

A day, a moment, a life that was supposed to be fun,

Now all it does, all it can, is make him want to cry.

...

Because where is the joy, the laughter, the life,

When they are all gone, and he's still here around.

Brothers, sister, a father with a wife,

Now all he can see, is his uncle's worried frown.

...

Everyone stays away, like he would be pestilence,

Douglas, Perry, the students, they're all the same.

And he actually wishes for death, for just a moment of silence.

But there's nothing to do, no way to mute the cries of blame.

...

Day out, day in, second by second they shout,

In his sleep, his mind, again and again in his head.

And with them comes the question, the everlasting doubt,

Would they be happy, that he lives while they're dead.

...

He should have done something that day, anything at all,

To help them, to save them, to keep them here alive.

But they died instead, when he was the one meant to fall,

There was no funeral for him, though a funeral of five.

...

Despite what he always swore, they died for him,

But now by their headstones, he remembers another vow.

Made as an assurance, by siblings at a time less grim,

To always, no matter the circumstances, in their lives happiness allow.

...

He will keep that promise, some day, some time,

Like a magnificent bird, for peace and joy he will fly.

When his existence, no longer will feel like a crime,

And his family he will see, when it's finally his time to die.

I hope you liked it! Personally I'm having mixed emotions, I haven't written a poem for years.

Anyways, leave a review? They're always appreciated! They're like chocolate! :P /Libra
