I Don't Own Naruto

"So you are the one who captured me," spoke a monotone voice as Naruto stepped into the interrogation room.

"That I am," replied Naruto as he looked to the owner of said monotone voice, a red haired boy with dark black rings around his teal eyes. "I was told you wanted to speak with me Gaara."

"What did you do to me when you captured me? I can no longer hear mother's voice," questioned the youngest son of the Kazekage.

"I created a better seal on the Ichibi so he can no longer torment you," replied Naruto simply.

"Why?" questioned Gaara.

Why wouldn't I?" replied Naruto instantly.

"Because I was your enemy why wouldn't you kill me and prove your existence?" inquired Gaara getting a confused look from the blond before him.

"How would me killing you prove my existence? spoke Naruto, the blond had met some twisted people in his time but most of them he could decipher at least some level of their logic, but this, this was something else.

"How would it not? others would not be able to ignore the fact of a life taken," declared Gaara psychotically, Naruto shook his head sadly.

"And yet by me sparing you and helping you has proved my own existence to the point you even wanted to see me," replied Naruto trying to word his thoughts in a way that Gaara would understand.

"So you don't kill anyone, you spare everyone?" questioned Gaara unbelieving.

"If I could I would, but there are some people that have to be put down, but others like you are misguided and can be saved," spoke Naruto with a small smile.

"You chose not to fight for yourself but for others," spoke Gaara confused.

"Yep, fighting to protect what you care for rather than to destroy what you hate will in my book always make people stronger," said Naruto.

"But that makes no sense fighting for yourself makes you stronger," declared Gaara.

"And yet I stand here before you a free man, and you behind that table hands cuffed and chakra sealed," stated Naruto simply.

"But what if you have nothing to protect?" asked Gaara looking at Naruto curious of his answer.

"No one has nothing they want to protect," replied Naruto.

"I have nothing I want to protect," said Gaara.

"What about your family?" prompted Naruto.

"They don't care for me why should I care for them?" stated Gaara.

"They do, at least in their own way, they are scared of you, you constantly threaten to kill them, but even still even now I bet they are terrified of why you, and you alone were taken from your cell," said Naruto, upon hearing that comment Gaara looked down at the table in front of him.

Naruto stood there in silence while Gaara thought.

"Thank you Uzumaki-san you have given me a lot to think about," spoke Gaara respectfully.

"It's fine Gaara, if that's all I'll leave you to your thoughts," spoke Naruto getting a nod from the red haired jinchuriki in front of him before he turned to the door and left the room and the young man behind him.

"Well aren't you the little saint Uzumaki," spoke Ibiki stepping out of the observation room to the room he had just been in.

"He is a lonely child looking for anything to give his life meaning why would I hurt him?," asked Naruto turning to the practiced interrogator.

"This way Uzumaki," spoke Ibiki not answering the boy's question. Naruto fell into step behind the man as he was lead to the second reason he was here.

As the older man came to a stop next to a door Naruto stopped and stepped into the room as the door was opened for him.

"It's been a long time Guren," spoke Naruto stepping into the interrogation room, the blue haired woman's head snapped up when she heard the voice at the door.

"Uzumaki," snarled the woman through gritted teeth looking to the young man at the door.

"I wonder if you would have spoke with such venom if it was Kin or Tayuya who had stepped in," spoke Naruto with faux wonder.

"You bastard what have you done with them," snarled Guren glaring at Naruto.

"Nothing, I would have thought you would know that I would never hurt them," declared Naruto.

"I also at one point thought that you would never betray Orochimaru-sama yet here we are," spat Guren.

"What has that man ever done to deserve such loyalty from you Guren?" asked Naruto.

"He gave me a purpose, a place in the world," declared Guren with no hesitation.

"A purpose? You mean to be a medical test subject for the rest of your life, occasionally going out to get more test subjects for a man who will throw you away the second you are no longer of use to him. And a place in the world? What that four by six foot room underneath in Kusa? Come on Guren I thought you were smarter than this," spoke Naruto exacerbated by the blue haired woman in front of him.

Guren crossed her arms in a huff before looking away from Naruto.

"Why are you even here? The other guys think I'd crack if I saw a familiar face?" questioned Guren sarcastically.

"No Guren I'm here to see if I can talk some sense into you for the sake of Tayuya and Kin or if you are going to join the other Oto ninja at the chopping block," spoke Naruto with a sigh, making the blue haired woman cast a glance his way.

"'For the sake of Tayuya and Kin', you say that like they're here," chuckled Guren rolling her eyes.

"They ARE here," declared Naruto with emphasis, "Kin was part of the team Orochimaru sent here for the exams and Tayuya came here for the invasion but has been loyal to me over Orochimaru since before I left Oto and abandoned him during the invasion. Kin and Tayuya are both under the protection of my clan here in Konoha," continued Naruto.

"Don't lie to me Uzumaki, you're not a good enough liar for that," spoke Guren.

"Why would I lie Guren? what do I have to gain? You saw who else was captured in the invasion there is no information that you could provide that they couldn't, and if you did listen to me, and Tauyua and Kin aren't here you'd come after me so why would I lie?" inquired Naruto.

"..."

"..."

"..."

"What do you want?" asked Guren shaking her head looking at Naruto.

"For you to denounce Orochimaru AND Oto, if you do I will place you under my clan's protection and you can have a new life here in Konoha, a better life," spoke Naruto simply.

"Why are you trying so hard? What do you want from me?" asked Guren.

"I'm not doing this for you Guren, I'm doing this for Tayuya and Kin," declared Naruto turning towards the door. "I've said my piece, I'll give you a day to think it over," continued Naruto opening the door.

"WAIT," yelled Guren making Naruto stop and look back at Guren. "I-I want to see them before I make up my mind," requested Guren.

"Fair enough," replied Naruto.

#A Few Hours Later#

Naruto sighed as he collapsed on one of his sofas, he had once more dragged Yugao out of a bar, well he and Anko had, and Naruto had learned what had caused the Kunoichi to start acting as she was.

"I should have been quicker," muttered Naruto to himself, covering his eyes with his hand.

"Quicker with what Naru?" asked a familiar voice, Naruto looked up to see Shizune standing in the open doorway to the kitchen.

"Nothing Nee-chan," spoke Naruto half heartedly.

"Naruto," came the stern but still caring voice of Shizune.

"With Hayate-san, if I had been quicker we might have been able to save him," declared Naruto

"Hayate-san? What's brought this up?" asked Shizune moving to sit next to Naruto placing her plate on the coffee table in front of the two of them.

"For the second time in as many weeks I've pulled Yugao out of a bar where she's drunken herself stupid, and Anko-sensei says its been happening on and off since Hayate … … passed," explained Naruto

"Naru, there was nothing you could do, it was a miracle that we could even give him the time he would have had," declared Shizune.

"But"

"Not Buts Naru, there was absolutely nothing you could do I don't even think Tsunade-sama could have done any better had she have found Hayate-san," declared Shizune, Naruto closed his eyes before taking a deep breath.

"Thanks Nee-chan," said Naruto with a half hearted smile. Shizune pulled Naruto into a hug.

"Anytime Naru," declared Shizune

#Several Days Later#

Once more a sunny day blessed the Land Of Fire, civilian, nobles and ninja alike once more filled the Konoha arena to observe the finals of the latest chunin exams.

"I am sorry about the delay in these finals, but it's only thanks to the bravery of several young Oto shinobi who told me of the Otokage's planed invasion that we can even have these finals here today so I must delay these finals for a few moments more to recognise these brave shinobi who we can now count amongst our own ranks," spoke Hiruzen his chakra enhanced voice reaching the ears of everyone within the arena. On the arena floor stood five formerly Oto shinobi, the ones to be officially credited with the information that lead to the thwarting of the invasion. "As Hokage I thank you on behalf of Konoha and all of her people, Kin Tsuchi, Dosu Kinuta, Zaku Abumi, Tayuya Uzumaki and Guren Kozuki," spoke the Hokage causing the crowd to whistle cheer and clap, much to the embarrassment of the former Oto ninja, who once the cheering died down quickly left the field. "It is at this time I must also announce that due to the untimely death of the Yondaime Kazekage the Suna ninja have all bowed out of the finals and left to return to their home village," spoke Hiruzen in a sombre tone lying through his teeth very skilfully "As such the matches have been re-arranged, the remaining matches will consist of Naruto Uzumaki Senju Yuki Of Konoha verses Chojuro Shio Of Kiri, Shino Aburame Of Konoha verses Tenten Higurashi Of Konoha, Fu Uzumaki of Konoha verses Haku Yuki of Kiri and Ino Yamanaka of Konoha verses Sasuke Uchiha of Konoha, Dosu Kinuta having opted to bow out at this point," declared Hiruzen, as the matches were listed off murmuring broke out throughout the crowd.

"Uzumaki, Shio you two are first," declared Genma chewing on a senbon as he stood on the arena floor.

Chojuro leapt over the bars from his place in the competitors box landing in a crouch on the field.

Naruto smirked as he stepped out onto the field having been waiting in the hall knowing he was first, he had been looking forward to this since he had been informed of his opponent.

Chojuro, the nervous wreck of a boy, that 'Arashi' had trained while helping the Kiri rebels. The blond red head was curious how far the boy had come.

"I-I hope you are ready Uzumaki-san I don't plan to hold back," declared the bespectacled boy with only a slight timid stutter as Naruto stepped up to the centre of the arena.

"I don't plan on holding back either Chojuro come at me with all you have," ordered Naruto with a smirk, pulling Samenikuya off his back, Chojuro mirrored the blonde's actions drawing a katana from a sheathe at his waist.

"If both of you are ready, then, begin," called Genma jumping back.
