The shuttle settled in the grass area in front of the cabin, still mostly clear of snow, two days after Christmas. Leanna's line of snowmen from before Christmas was a much-reduced line of snow while Harry and Reli's snow castle had mostly collapsed into a heap off to the side of the grassed area.

John, Liara and Tali disembarked from the shuttle with kit bags in their hands as they jogged across the grass, with the shuttle taking off behind them. There were four figures waiting for them on the front veranda of the cabin.

"Daddy, Mummy." Leanna called and ran out to greet them, hugging her parent's legs, until they each took one of her hands and began walking her back to the cabin.

Both Reli and Harry were much more restrained in waiting for the approaching group, waiting on the veranda with Hannah Shepard.

"Hey mum." John greeted before turning to his son. "I'm sorry I could not be here for Christmas Harry. There was something I had to take care of."

"I understand, dad." Harry replied. "Auntie Tali, welcome to Oma's Cabin. Is something wrong?"

"Um… Thanks." Tali replied nervously. "Sorry, it's just the Normandy is undergoing some repairs and I don't like people I don't know working on her."

"Tali, I know all the engineers assigned to the Normandy repairs." Hannah Shepard informed. "They are very capable. Half the team, including the team leader, are Quarian."

Tali visibly relaxed at that. While she may not know the individuals involved, she trusted her own race to be technically competent to a degree rare amongst other races. Humans could be quite inventive and adaptive, but they did not have the deep understanding of how things work that was almost instinctual for Quarians.

"Thank you Admir…." Tali began before cutting off at Hannah's look. "Ah…. Hannah."

"You are welcome, dear." Hannah said with a smile. "John, you are still in your usual room with Liara. Tali, I am assigning you the room that is supposed to be Leanna's, but seeing as she keeps sneaking in to sleep with Harry, I'll just move her into his room."

Leanna blushed slightly a that but looked happy and gave her beloved brother a hug. Harry stroked his sister's head and gave the other's a 'what can you do' kind of look.

"Come in and we'll have dinner." Hannah continued. "I understand there was some action and you all needed a break, but please tell me you did not leave Wrex in charge of the Normandy while you three are down here."

"No, mum." John replied. "Garrus is in overall command and Engineer Adams is assisting with the repairs."

Hannah simply nodded and led them inside. As soon as they crossed the threshold, the aroma of fresh baked bread and a slow cooked roast hit everyone's, except the Quarians, noses.

The Grangers' car pulled up in front of an imposing high-rise building in downtown London. Nori briefly glanced over at Jane Granger, who smiled encouragingly, and took a deep breath before exiting the car. She had called up the extranet message she had received from Admiral Shepard on the inside of her visor so she could make sure she did not miss any details about the who she was to report to, along with where and when.

Entering the building and passing through a weapons scanner, which gave general specifications of her suit but confirmed she was unarmed, she made her way to the reception desk, where a pretty human female was seated.

"How may I assist you?" The receptionist asked.

"Well… um… I am here to see Doctor Hampton." Nori stumbled over her response. "My name is Nori'Tenos…."

"Ahh, miss Nar Helios." The receptionist semi interrupted with a smile. "Doctor Hampton is waiting for you. He seemed quite excited at the possibilities when Admiral Shepard contacted him. Lifts to your left, floor sixteen. I will let the secretary up there know you are on your way."

Nori made her way to the lifts and pressed the up button. She felt self-conscious as she appeared to be the only Quarian around. When the lift doors opened, there were six passengers, five humans and another Quarian. Entering the lift, she hit the button for sixteen and stood next to the other Quarian. He wore the red suit of a Quarian Marine, someone she would not normally associate with on the Flotilla, but at the moment any Quarian was a secured compartment in a decompression event.

Three of the humans got off on floor six, the Quarian Marine and a Human got off on floor fourteen, then it was Nori's turn on floor sixteen. The lifts opened out onto a little foyer with a human male sitting behind the desk.

"Ahh, Miss Nar Helios." The man said, standing. "This way."

The man led her down a short hallway before knocking on a door.

"Come." A strong male voice said from behind the door.

The man with her nodded for her to enter and turned back towards his desk. Nori pushed open the door and entered, her eyes sweeping the room. It seemed like a typical office, like the Grangers had back at their practice. Behind the desk was an older man, slightly balding, dressed in an Alliance uniform with a white coat over the top.

"Ahh, miss Nar Helios. Nori, correct?" Doctor Hampton asked, getting a nod. "I am Doctor William Hampton. Technically I am a Major, but here I am just Doctor Hampton. Just how much has Admiral Shepard explained to you?"

"Not much, Doctor Hampton." Nori replied. "She just mentioned I would undergo accelerated Medical Training designed for Alliance Medics two days a week."

"Well, the Medic training will only be one day a week. The other day you will be in private instruction with me. All our Alliance Medic candidates have a very basic understanding of human physiology from their general education and experience with some aspects of human medicine purely from living as humans. Your one on one sessions with me will help get you up to speed with these basics and help you get ready for some of our more advanced courses." Doctor Hampton explained.

"Thank you, Doctor." Nori said. "I can't express how much this means to me."

"I think I understand." William replied. "You want to help your people, and I want to help the Quarians as much as I can as well. Much earlier in my career I worked on the Citadel, running a small clinic for the less affluent members of the station, one of the few places that Quarians could go for reliable medical treatment without discrimination. Since the recent agreement between our Governments, I have become the resident expert on Quarian medicine, including taking over primary care of the Quarians working with the Alliance High Command, either in the R&D team or the specialists here in temporary assignment."

Nori was simply amazed at the level of expertise she was going to be learning form.

"Quarian immune systems are fascinating. A semi-symbiotic reaction to invaders. It will be fun trying to crack that with you, Nori." Doctor Hampton announced.

Standing from behind his desk, William went to one of the book cases that lined the wall and pulled out a three-inch-thick book. Moving over to a side table with a few comfortable looking chairs around it, he beckoned Nori over as he sat down. At his urging, Nori sat in the chair next to his and he laid the book down on the side table.

"This is one of the most concise books on Human Anatomy ever written, and it is not overly technical like some texts." Doctor Hampton explained. "I want you to start reading, aloud. I will help with any technical terms you are unfamiliar with. Once we get through a section, I will test you to see how well you understand."

Nori simply nodded, looked down at the book and began reading.
