Sleepy Annabeth was Percy's favourite Annabeth.

Her sharp edges would come off, and she became soft, smiley and snuggly.

Not that he didn't love her any other time, but he saw more of her sleepy side than anyone else so he had a special, personal affection for it.

The problem for Percy was that he had long since forgone the platonic-best-friend affection behind and had descended into the depths of all-encompassing, heart-wrenching, unrequited love.

Which, objectivity speaking, wasn't too bad.

Annabeth didn't have a boyfriend, she spent most of her time with Percy anyway and he got best friend rights to her personal space whenever he wanted. Although recently, the urge to kiss her had gotten unbearable and he wasn't sure how much longer he could keep this up.

His second problem was that Annabeth simply wasn't interested in dating anyone. And she laid down that law with every new guy who approached her (Not that Percy was complaining on that score).

Currently they were squashed on Percy's sofa, not really watching a documentary on sea lions.

Annabeth wasn't watching because she was falling asleep.

Percy wasn't watching because he was watching Annabeth.

He was close enough to count the freckles on her face and had one arm tucked behind her, drawing aimless patterns on her back.

Grinning as he watched her eyelids start to droop, he made to pull away but was stopped by a whine and an arm pulling him back.

"Don't stop." She mumbled, squinting at him blearily.

Chuckling he resumed his tracings, savouring the satisfaction that crept onto her face.

After a while, growing bored of circles, he drew a smiley face, then a heart.

Earning no response from Annabeth he wrote his name, then hers.

Then he wrote:

Percy Annabeth.

Still no response.

Then:

Annabeth I love you so much I could die.

I've loved your since we were in school, probably longer.

I love your laugh, your smile, you're mind, your heart.

You're amazing.

I love-

He froze when he noticed Annabeth was watching him carefully over her shoulder.

"What?" He asked a little hesitantly.

Ducking away she shook her head, ears and cheeks dusted pink.

"Nothing, I just..."

She looked up at him shyly.

"I love you too."

He blinked, stunned, feeling himself turn bright red.

"But-!"

Grinning she put a finger to his lips.

"Who else would there be?" She asked, half shy, half exasperated as she rolled her eyes, her cheeks also stained red.

Percy thought this over for a moment and coming to the conclusion that she was right, heck, she was always right, he nodded in agreement. He looked back down at her determining whether she was just having him on and leaning over her, he hesitated only slightly before pressing his smile briefly against her smile.

"Really?" He asked.

Rolling her eyes again, she nodded and hooking her arms around his neck, she nuzzled his nose sleepily.

"Yes really. Since, like, always. To be honest I'm not sure why we never... happened. You know? It just kinda makes sense."

Grinning he closed the distance between them (both figuratively and literally) and kissed her like he had wanted to forever.

Sleepy Annabeth was definitely his favourite.
