Authors Note

Hi.

It's weird looking at this odd fanfiction I made like three years ago before anything such as Volume 5 or 6 and 7 popped up. Taking a look at this has made me realise the bounty of mistakes and errors in here (Rook? Really? Rat is also a stupid name for an antagonist in hindsight). I guess it's nostalgic; almost like looking at a bad drawing you made when you were five or something.

It's funny how strange situations going on in our little world bring you back to the beginning.

In hindsight, I should let this remain here and have it stay as it is. Funnily enough I'd like to, at the very least, go through everything and fix it all up, and finish this. To be frank, I'm doing this out of a sense of nostalgia. This isn't an entirely serious attempt at finishing the story, so no, I won't spend too long explaining everything.

However, I'm going to have to rewrite pretty much most of it. Reading through the reviews, along with reading the story itself, has made me aware of many flaws (OOC issues, plot holes, plot-induced stupidity, quite bad dialogue and the main character being a massive idiot etc). It actually makes me wonder how it got as popular as it had, to be honest. You all are appreciated for picking up those things.

I don't know how long it'll take to have everything rewritten until this point. It'll take a LONG time, though.

What I will mention though is a few changes:

* The antagonist will have more of an explanation on his motivations, his backstory, and will have more of a buildup towards his actions later on.

* The Torchwick/Neo/Antagonist alliance will stay, but it will be woven into the story earlier than before Volume 1. Neo will have backstory and motivations.

* There is also another big change to what will happen; Jaune won't be going to Beacon. I also want to replace him with someone surprising. This is because I've decided to change the 'trope' as to have the Gamer go to Beacon, and it will give a significant reason as to how Jaune ends up working alongside Torchwick and Neo, eventually meeting Cinder. Bear in mind - Jaune will meet Neo and Torchwick years before Volume 1 which will give him enough time to develop power. It will align with his Gamer powers thus not making him OP.

* Other antagonists such as Cinder will have motivations/backstory and such explained and will be based on their folklore (e.g - Cinder is based on Cinderella, with Salem based on the Fairy Godmother. I will also decide which folklore Tyrian and Watts will be based upon.)

* Some characters will be changed in terms of motivations and how they act. Hazel and Adam are the main ones, with Hazel having a different reason for why he despises Ozpin (which will make Ozpin a 'grey' character - it does have something to do with his sister's death but something at a greater scale than that in fact it will have something to do with Mount Glenn as well) and Adam acting like he did in the Black Trailer - an antagonist mentor to Blake who wants equality for Faunus and Humanity but will do so at horrible costs, rather than someone who wants to subjugate humanity to slavery and Blake. Salem will also have a different reason as to why she wants to gather the Relics. Emerald and Mercury will be kept the same, though I'd like to explore them as characters too.

* Speaking of Salem - she will be involved far earlier within the story than by Volume 7.

* I'm also changing the order of where the Gamer will go; I'm having Jaune go from Vale to Vacuo to Menagerie (along with RWBY, not on the same side though) to Mistral to Atlas. This is because I feel Atlas serves as a 'final' area, especially because of the ending of Volume 7. Also, Atlas rising into space is a potential idea.

* The 'Gamer' powers will be nerfed. INT and WIS will no longer be stats, and the other stats will be nerfed too in terms of developmental gains. This means combat will be based on skill, rather than relying on power. This is more to 'up the stakes' and therefore make every event feel like the main character could actually lose.

* Speaking of which: there will be consequences for the main character's actions, regardless of winning or losing. This will help make things more natural in a sense.

* The 'Gamer' powers will also have an explanation in the RWBY universe and will be connected to the Brother Gods. It'll act similar to the Silver Eyes in a sense. Jaune's semblance is the Gamer power itself.

*I'm also nerfing the Silver Eyes by having them take longer to use and also have them use up Aura. This is because I think the Silver Eyes is too OP and, to be frank, if RWBY Jaune gave his aura to Ruby and found a way to enhance the Silver Eyes then it would annihilate most of the antagonists in an instant. I feel as if the Silver Eyes should also be less controllable, having to pop up when Ruby goes through intense emotions, which will be a very difficult double-edged sword for her to deal with.

* Semblances will be explained. Aura will be too. Qrow and Raven's 'bird powers' will also be explained differently. And yes, Raven's semblance will be important in the long run.

* Taiyang will also be involved in the plot, equal to Qrow.

* Raven will have backstory and an explanation as to why she left, having to do with her Spring Maiden powers. It doesn't make her sympathetic entirely but it does explain why she abandoned Yang.

* Summer will stay dead.

* Speaking of Team RWBY: Yang's character development will be different, along with Blake. Weiss is fine. Ruby will definitely have changes.

* Watts is going to appear in the Vale Arc and he will wreck shit up, along with far more buildup for him to go up against Ironwood. I'm setting up something for Ironwood and Watts to do with the Atlas Arc, deciding to keep that part in RWBY the same. He's also going to act as an antagonistic figure to Weiss.

* Pietro and Penny vs Watts might also be a thing.

* Torchwick is going to become far stronger than he is in canon due to his altered backstory.

* Qrow and Taiyang will have a rivalry with Tyrian (for different reasons than him favouring his 'Goddess' over the world.)

* Everyone is going to fight differently, in a sense. Their semblances will not only have their canon applications but also new ones. Especially Ruby.

* Nora's semblance will be slightly different than in canon. Rather than just be able to absorb lightning, she will be able to channel it into her weapon, and whether or not she will use lightning dust similarly to Hazel is uncertain, though.

* Glynda will have more of a role to play post-Vale and will, in fact, be involved with protecting the Relic of Choice. She'll also have an important fight.

* Cinder, post-Volume 3, will be different from canon Cinder. I disagree with how Cinder turned out in Volume 5 after having one of her eyes destroyed by Ruby, I mean, come on. How can you be cocky after you had your eye destroyed, your body burned, and being unable to do most things for months?

* None of the Arcs will be appearing for a really long time. I don't think I can focus on them in this story, unless Jaune goes to Ansel by chance or something.

* And more.

As you can see, there are a LOT of changes to deal with and I'm going to rewrite the whole story because of that. To be honest, I'm not really doing this for the sake of making it the best story ever, I just want to finish this as a fun project to do. It's nostalgia.

Thanks for reading.
