While the Kingdom's forces finished looking through the city of Himassa for any beastmen and human captives, over the horizon came the forces that would be relieving a large portion of the their forces, just like what had happened with Asodosia. Leading the main body of the relieving forces, were 4,500 Dragon Kingdom soldiers, led by General Ezekiel Ross himself, along with the 300 soldiers from the Theocracy led by Noah Kai Roth, and 700 soldiers from the Empire led by Commander Jean-Peire Picard, with the aid of Iris Joy Pernet.

As Ezekiel and his men made their way to the entrance to the city, the foreign forces stopped just before the main gates and concentrated in distinct groups so as to start setting up their forward operating camps, since the city had yet to be declared safe. By this time the Espada present knew what had transpired in the refugee camp with Sajin and the true enemy leader. So they knew that the battle for the third city of Asike, would need more forces than the Dragon Kingdom had fielded here.

While Nazz greeted Ezekiel and informed the General of the situation, Cerabrate and Leinas made their way to the Empire's forces. Crystal Tear's leader was convinced that given the clear strength of the enemy, they would need more help in case there were still monsters like Tomo waiting in the wings. His previous arrogance now dead and buried. Meanwhile, Abel and Inon went to speak with the Theocracy's forces, with Carmyn left behind due to Noah's known racism, and rumors regarding his sadistic tastes.

Arriving at the Empire's forces, almost immediately there was a certain tension that fell upon the soldiers as they came face-to-face with Leinas. Naturally, all of them knew who she was and knew she walked away from the Empire for some mercenaries. Even if none would voice this disapproval in front of someone who was now seen as a hero.

However, this also meant that as soon as they arrived, the soldiers merely looked at them and continued about their tasks, not sending the Espada and adventurer away, but neither acknowledging them. Luckily this didn't last long, since Iris and two of her men appeared, and the second-in-command of the Empire's forces motioned the duo to follow her.

"You just saved us a massive headache." Cerabrate remarked with a chuckle.

"Don't thank me yet. While I have nothing against Leinas for what she did, Commander Picard is very much like most of the people you see here and see her as a traitor." Iris calmly informed as they walked.

"That's their problem, and not what I am here for." Leinas said with a tired sigh.

"Perhaps... However, try to keep in mind why you two came here, before speaking with the Commander. Like it or not, he's your connection to the Empire." Iris coolly said.

"Noted."

Reaching the center of what would be the Empire's camp, Leinas and Cerabrate were met by the Commander, instructing eight of his men as they set up their war tent. A sigh escaped Picard's lips, since the man had been informed of their two visitors before they arrived at his location. While he wasn't pleased with the situation he wasn't going to ignore them like some indignant child. Instead, he decided to be openly indignant as he crossed his arms.

"Why did you bring a traitor here, Iris?"

"She is a hero. I would be remiss to ignore her desires." Iris calmly replied.

She wasn't lying, since in the Dragon Kingdom the Espada were seen as heroes from their many conquests and incredible feats. This much Picard knew, but he wasn't changing his own view on Leinas just because of that.

"Hmph! Hero or not, people that have turned their back on their country aren't welcomed here. But you Cerabrate? I was informed of what happened in the battle. You have potential as a field-commander. Not many would be able to pull themselves and their forces back together after being faced with such an enemy, and having lost long-time comrades." The commander pointed out sympathetically.

"I am... thankful for your praise. However, no matter what your troubles are with Leinas, we are here for a good reason." The adventurer professionally informed.

"Something you'll want to hear. Or are you happy picking up the Kingdom's scraps, Commander?" Leinas mockingly added in a neutral tone.

"What did you say!? Do you know who I am, woman!? You have no right to speak to me like that!" He roared back, getting the attention of those nearby.

"Commander, now is not the time for this. They are clearly offering you the 'glory' you've been looking for." Iris pointed out with a weary sigh, causing Picard to give her a bewildered expression.

"It is as she says. We don't know what lies beyond this city. Not to mention that after this major victory it is possible the enemy will try to press us even harder. That is why we ask the Empire to provide more soldiers, and actively participate in the campaign's next step." Cerabrate explained.

"Indeed. No more scraps. Only glory and battles fitting of your family's military legacy." Leinas added, now with a clearly more mocking tone.

Picard gritted his teeth, angered at the fact that a traitor was looking down on him. Angered at the fact that Iris was once again going beyond her duties, and angered that once again he was looking over some foreign city. He was also angered by the fact of how calming their suggestion was. Indeed, he had been craving a real fight ever since he arrived in the Dragon Kingdom, and craving a chance to distinguish himself.

"You want my men and I to fight on the frontlines?" He asked, now looking and sounding much calmer.

"That is what we need." Cerabrate calmly replied.

"While I agree with it, but I will need to convince His Majesty to agree to it himself." Picard matter-of-factly informed.

"Agree? But the agreement with the Empire..." Cerabrate when, but the Commander simply spoke over him.

"Involved us fighting? True. However, you cannot expect 700 soldiers to make the difference you are wishing for. We'll need more people, which need to be moved here, and only the Emperor can approve that. After all, we also have our need for those forces. And managing 700 men, is easier than managing more than 2,000." Picard informed, his words surprising the rest of the people present.

"You mean to request 2,000 soldiers?" Cerabrate asked, shocked that he said such thing.

"Of course. How else am I to fully exert my expertise and gain something from this? Just make sure your people are able to pay for it." Picard growled, his disposition clearly changing as he now glowed with glee.

"I thank you for your help." The adventurer said, taking a graceful knightly bow, which prompted a chuckle from Picard.

"Ah, don't thank me yet. I should also mention what I'll be suggesting for what might be sufficient compensation for my efforts."

"That is?" Leinas suspiciously asked with a perked brow.

"A city. That should be enough."

"That is way too much." Leinas growled back.

"I remember having heard of a small city near our border that allows one to look over the Katze Plains. Would that be it?" Cerabrate asked, earning himself a smirk from the Commander.

"Indeed~! Given our annual wars with the Re-Estize Kingdom, something like that would be useful, and it is on the edge of your territory. What do you say?"

"Hmph. It's a ridiculous proposition. Which is why I want something in return. A wager if you will." The adventurer replied.

"Oh? And what is that?"

"You clearly don't care for what your Emperor gets from this deal, and while you care for your country, you are here to bring yourself and your family glory. The city would simply be a bonus. I say, that if you and the extra men that you will call here are as useful as you think they are, you can get the city. If not, we will pay the Empire exactly what we do for what we have now."

Cerabrate silently gulped, doing his best to keep his calm expression. He knew that the Kingdom was in a dire financial crisis. So much so that certain areas of the country were being neglected, and couldn't risk using any more funds, or waiting for the favor of others. So now he tried to not gain the Empire's favor, but get Picard's and play to the Commander's ego and desire to take part in this war.

"That's a bold thing to say, even for an adamantite-ranked adventurer... Hmm... Very well, I'll take you on that bet. Let's hope his Majesty also agrees to it."

"Then once again, I thank you." Cerabrate said with another bow.

Shortly after Cerabrate and Leinas left, with Commander Picard now being in rather high spirits. So much so that Iris was compelled to speak up.

"I see you have regained your energy."

"I'll finally be doing what I was born to do. It is only natural I would be feeling much better. Not only that but you are here, with all that knowledge of fighting Beastmen." Picard retorted.

"Oh? I thought I was unwelcomed here."

"You are, and your path in life completely goes against my own. But now that we are going to fight? You are most welcomed, as long as you keep in mind your standing in this army." He informed with a laugh.

Meanwhile, as Leinas and Cerabrate were walking away, the was Espada clearly displeased with how things turned out. However, it wasn't entirely a surprise since he came with her as a representative of the Kingdom.

"What now? A city isn't something one easily gives up." She pointedly remarked.

"That is for me to worry about. But it is something they want, and it is among the cities that we had to more or less abandon during the war. Most of its population was relocated, so all that we have there are some soldiers, merchants, and their families. It would be a loss, but not a grave one." Cerabrate informed with a sigh.

"That is... a rather selfless point of view."

Indeed, Cerabrate had yet to fully settle from what had happened in the battle, and ever since he lost two of his companions and taken control of the Kingdom's forces, he'd been operating on autopilot. He just did everything that came to mind to achieve victory, and this felt like the best option, even if he knew that he would have to explain himself to the Queen. Or more likely the Prime Minister. A conversation that he did not relish in having.

As this was happening, Abel and Inon had made their way to where the Commander of the Theocracy's personal field tent was being built. When they met Noah, the man was sitting on a chair surrounded by four of his highest-ranking soldiers in full armor, and with a cup of wine in hand, looking rather bored, despite the current situation.

"Welcome, Commander Abel Cujo, and Espada Inon Zur Morres. To what do I owe the the pleasure?" Noah asked in a friendly tone, taking a sip from his cup.

"Greetings. We come here with a request, both to you and the Slane Theocracy itself." Abel informed with a slight, respectful bow.

"Hoh? I'm listening."

"I'm sure you have been informed of the monster that charged through our army and killed members of Crystal Tear. A creature that had to be especially handled by the Espada. We fear the presence of more of these enemies, and a fierce reply as we start to push them even further out of territory. For that, we ask not only for you and your men to aid us in battle, but for the Theocracy to send in more assistance, since the Kingdom can do only so much in providing enough soldiers to handle the situation." Abel informed, trying to be as formal and cordial as possible.

"I see... Well, while I understand the need for more troops, I fail to understand why you're telling me this. This is a matter to be dealt with between your Prime Minister and our Council." Noah pointed out, once again drinking from his cup.

"That is true, but these are hardly normal circumstances, and some things should be done as soon as possible." Abel informed, earning himself a chuckle from the Theocracy forces leader.

"Hehe. And if that recommendation is put forward by such successful individuals, the higher the chances your government supports the decisions made here. Very well. I'll pass the word on to my superiors. Just don't be too confident when it comes to the troop numbers, or the price they'll entail. After all, we have our own war to fight. Still, I'm very interested in getting to fight this enemy. It's been too long since I've gotten to kill some filthy non-humans." Noah hissed, his more sadistic side showing.

Abel didn't bother to see if the man had anything else to say. Now that he had shown this side of himself, he simply gave him another bow and dismissed himself along with Inon. While the Espada had mostly been with him to add onto Abel's presence, Inon was simply happy to see that things went as smoothly as they did. As did Abel, since he never really devoted himself to the political sides of war, preferring to be on the frontlines.

Shortly after these exchanges the forces of the Empire and Theocracy informed their respective nations of what had happened via the [Message] spell. Despite the mistrust of the spell, the information was simply too significant to ignore, and thus each nation made contingency plans to ensure the veracity of the information in question. In the case of the Empire, the magnitude of the information delivered to them prompted Fluder and Loune to seek out their Emperor, who at the time was in the palace's garden.

Taking advantage of some free time, Jircniv had decided to spend some time near a pond in a small area surrounded by four white pillars, overhang-roof, with cushioned seats. While he was watched over by four guards, Jircniv enjoyed drinks and refreshments with some members of his harem. So much so that the two sudden arrivals weren't exactly welcomed.

"Your Majesty, I apologize for the disturbance." Loune informed with a bow.

"What brings you here?" Jircniv asked, as one of his concubines poured him some wine.

"We have received news from the Dragon Kingdom. Himassa has been liberated." Loune urgently informed.

"Leave us."

With one command, Jircniv dismissed all of the women, with the exception of the one to his right which had been part of his harem for some time, had earned his trust, and had shown good judgment. Still, she was quick to rise and wait for any instruction.

"Come in. Sit." Jircniv instructed.

"Is there something I might get you?" The concubine asked.

"No, thank you." Loune replied, while Fluder simply motioned his disinterest.

The two men took a seat on some chairs to the Emperor's right and waited as Jircniv took a sip from his wineglass, and finally turn his attention to them.

"Continue."

"According to the reports, these beastmen were more advanced than others, employing very human-like techniques in combat. Not only that but they were smart enough to retreat when things turned against them, and are said to have kept their human captives as a labor force, completely different from what had been seen up until now. Among them was one that they believe to be the first officially confirmed Beastman Lord. It was able to kill many soldiers, take head-on attacks from swords, magic, and siege-engines without damage. Among those killed were two members of Crystal Tear, and was only stopped when Carmyn Zoya of the Espada teleported him away." Loune informed before taking a breath.

A chuckle escaped Fluder's lips as he stroked his beard, extremely pleased at what they had come to learn about the Espada. Especially their magic user Carmyn. On the other hand, Jircniv continued drinking, while the victory was welcomed and the behavior of the Beastmen was interesting enough, the existence of such a monster was troubling. Not only did he fear that something like that could probably take out even his elite knights, but it only added to the rumors and theories that these Espada were at the level of heroes. Especially if renowned adamantite-ranked adventurers had lost their lives fighting it.

"From what we know, since the presence of this particular enemy was expected, the 6th-ranked and 5th-ranked Espada Inon and Carmyn, along with a team of five workers and the Commander Abel Cujo were allowed to set out to an undisclosed location where the battle with the Beastman Lord took place. At the same time, those known as Fracción made their way inside Himassa killing many of the enemy before reaching their leaders, where apparently only one of the expected two dominant beastmen rulers were killed." Loune continued.

"These Espada truly are something, aren't they? It starts to make sense why people would compare them to heroes. Who knows the things they might be able to show us." Fluder said in an eager tone.

"Show us?" Jircniv asked with a raised brow.

"Indeed. Their feats indicate great power. More than we could say has been granted to them by gear or items. Imagine how much their magic-casters might know and be able to show us." The old magic-caster explained, his interests made clear.

"I see you are still interested in that Carmyn." The Emperor remarked with a chuckle and amused sigh.

"Not only her, but also that Annika Masador Aenar, whose rank is higher than Carmyn's."

"I see... Indeed. It bothers me that Leinas is of such high rank and seemingly capable of such feats, when she was nowhere near those heights when she served me." Jircniv admitted as he pondered on these events.

"It may be due to her curse being removed. Without it, her body no longer had anything impeding her growth, so it is a possible explanation." Fluder sagely pointed out.

"Too bad you were unable to remove it yourself, and she was able to earn her freedom at the hands of an unknown... Still, I agree that the Espada are too great a force to pass out on. Let's see how they handle this war and I might yet extend my hand to them. Anything else?"

"Yes, Your Majesty. This part of the report regards Leinas and the leader of Crystal Tear, Cerabrate, speaking to Commander Picard. It would seem that, without approval of the Dragon Kingdom's government, they told the Commander that due to the high possibility of stronger enemies and an aggressive answer to this victory, he would be needed on the front lines. Not only that, but they request more soldiers..." Loune informed, pausing as he tried to word the next section of the message.

"...Commander Picard apparently says that, it be best for the Empire to benefit from this is for him to be put in charge of anywhere between 2,000 to 3,000 additional men. Not only that, but among them he wants all of his family's personal strategists and lieutenants. For all of this... he made a wager with Cerebrate that if the Empire proves their worth in conquering the city of Asike, the Dragon Kingdom will give the Empire a city that rests on our borders and near the Katze Plains." Loune added, visibly worried by what had just been said.

Loune remained silent, Fluder let out a weak chuckle even if his mind was still on the Espada, even the concubine chuckled at the boldness of the man's request, while Jircniv simply laughed aloud.

"He's putting his status to use~" The concubine said with a chuckle.

"Indeed. I was starting to think it was a bad move to send him to the Dragon Kingdom, but it seems that he has finally found something to do with himself. Still, that is a very bold request, to think I would send him 3,000 soldiers, including his family's elite. But if I'm not mistaken, I think we have asked the Kingdom to give us that city for some time correct?" Jircniv asked, motioning his concubine to give him more wine.

"That is true. In the past requests have been made, and they were politely declined since at the time the Kingdom was still able to somewhat maintain the city. From what we know now, the city is almost abandoned, since they are no longer able to maintain it." Loune replied.

"It would indeed be useful to have. But I don't know what to think of the fact that if we don't prove our 'worth' we'll get nothing for delivering more soldiers... What do you think?" Jircniv asked his concubine as he drank.

"Me, Your Majesty? Well... isn't the Kingdom poor? It would be easy to take over a territory that has some order to it and still some kind of worth, would it not?" She suggested.

"Indeed. That might be something I'd consider if there were no Espada, and they were able to defeat the Beastmen, but not now. But you do have a point. They aren't well economically, and perhaps it would be for the best not to push them even further. Even if it's still ruled by that hag that masquerades as a child. Hmph... Loune, send this message to the Commander; We accept the wager and he will be given an additional 2,200 troops for it. However, he won't be getting his elite, since I won't send the people that he has watched over and taught during all this time to their possible deaths, while his family and the Empire still have use for them."

"As you wish, Your Majesty." Loune acknowledged with a headbow.

"Then, you are dismissed. And tell the rest of the women inside to return."

"Of course."

With that Loude and Fluder got to their feet, bowed to the Emperor and took their leave, with the rest of the concubines returning after, all the while Jircniv still found himself both amused and annoyed at Picard's actions. Though despite Jircniv calling off plans for the usual annual war with the Kingdom, he had to admit that border-city was quite the boon in this case.

In the Theocracy, a meeting had been organized by the Cardinals and other high-ranking officials in the face of the new information. The Captain of the Black Scripture, Marcus Septimius Amor, had also been called upon to take part in this meeting, now that it was becoming clear that the Espada were clearly stronger than previously imagined.

When the meeting concluded, Marcus left and started making his way away from the chamber, wondering when he would be getting some time off, just to come across a most curious sight. Before him was Zesshi, the half-elf sitting on the floor and clearly reading the report that had been sent to her regarding the latest developments in the Dragon Kingdom. This had frankly shocked him, since it was so out-of-character for her.

"I see you are busy." Marcus remarked with a light-hearted tone, still bewildered at the sight.

"Yes... Well, I was wondering who writes these and why they don't get straight to the point, but I must admit... I am interested..." Zesshi informed, turning her attention to her Captain.

"Then perhaps you would like to join us in the next meeting, after the battle for the next major city."

"I just might. But I am wondering, what did they say about the Espada? And this 'Beastman Lord' for that matter."

"The beastman was a surprise, but not something we weren't entirely expecting. In the past the Theocracy has come across individuals that were close to the power of what was described. It is just that such existences are simply more rare at present. It seems that it was killed by two Espada, which just adds to the power of both sides. When it comes to the Espada themselves, ranked or not, it is clear that our first thought about them wasn't entirely correct, and they are far stronger than the ranks given to adventurers." Marcus honestly replied, realizing that hiding anything from her now would be futile, since she was honestly paying attention to the details.

"I assumed as much from what I read. I'd imagine that the Cardinals are planning to get on the Espada's good side, correct? They can't ignore such power." Zesshi calmly suggested with a grin.

"That is true. The Cardinals believe that the Espada are a group of great power, and at this point more or less comparable to our Black Scripture. Though they don't believe that they have yet reached the same level as I, and certainly not your level of power, when we are beyond that of the realm heroes."

"You'll make me blush, Captain~. And there's no need to be so negative about it. Haven't the Espada surprised us up until now? Who knows? They might still be holding out on us, and among them is someone worthy of my attention." She suggested, placing her hand over her womb.

"That is a frightening thought. That such individuals have managed to go unnoticed up until now. Not only that but it raises even more questions about the people in-charge, since they are just merchants with no association to anything that would justify their gathering of such powerful individuals." Marcus contemplatively retorted.

"Perhaps we're still missing something. Whatever the case, are we going to be sent to the Dragon Kingdom?" Zesshi asked with an expectant smile.

"We are not, but it seems that Cerabrate, the leader of the adamantite-ranked adventurer team Crystal Tear, took it upon himself to request our forces join the fight, and for the Theocracy to send in more men."

"Oh? And? What was decided?"

"Naturally, the Scriptures will remain. However, the Cardinals agreed to send in 700 more men to add on to the 300 already on-site, with no charge for the Kingdom so as to not further strain the political situation, and keep the relationship with the Espada amiable. Since it is believed that the Espada's interests in this war may also be political, given how close they have gotten to the Kingdom's top figures." Marcus replied, causing Zesshi to roll her eyes with a slight pout.

"That's no fun, but I guess I'll let it go, as usual... Also, what about Labrax? Any reports from him?" She asked, surprising the Captain.

"No. At least nothing that is worth our attention."

"Still, I want anything we have from him regarding the Espada, and I want him to send another report on them as soon as possible… If you will, Captain." Zesshi said in an eager tone.

"I am sure you'll be able get those orders issued yourself, but I will see what I can do. But may I ask why you are interested in his opinions?"

"He's the one currently appointed to make sure I don't lose my edge and train my [Talent], so there surely is more he can do than give me techniques to absorb and learn more about my [Phantasm]." Zesshi replied with a rather dismissive tone.

"And he has several years of experience with different kinds of opponents, so he would be able to give you a good idea as to what the Espada are up to." Marcus added, getting a nod in reply.

"In that case, I'll see what I can do to get you those reports and send word to Labrax. Is there anything else you would like to discuss?" He asked, feeling as if this conversation was helping Zesshi develop her interests.

"Not at the moment. I'll wait for those reports and keep an eye out on anything that comes regarding the war itself."

"I'll leave you to it then." Marcus said, giving her a nod before leaving.

Zesshi allowed her Captain to leave, before a wide grin twisted her face. She was starting to get excited about the Espada. More excited than she had been about anyone in quite some time. However, she had learned not to let these emotions get the better of her. After all, when she was younger and she had been allowed to fight the people that had earned her interest within the Theocracy, all of them fell in one or two blows. As things were now, anyone of interest outside of the Theocracy were all outside of her reach, as per the Cardinals rules.

That was why she was going to wait for these reports and for the war to unfold. In addition, she was going to get any report regarding the remainder of the Espada, since the two highest-ranked Espada were operating outside of this war. They were arguably easier to get to as long as she knew their location, and they weren't in such a troublesome place as a war-torn country. Indeed, if the Espada proved themselves to be what she wanted them to be, there wouldn't be a rule or anyone in the Theocracy able to hold her back.

As the Dragon Kingdom found itself celebrating its second major victory against its enemy, and the Empire and Theocracy reacted to this and the continuing rise of the Espada, in a world that seemed to at this point be "flourishing" with strong individuals like Momon, Nabe, and the mysterious Ainz Ooal Gown, Aizen and Amelia calmly made their way to the Roble Holy Kingdom.

They left their original base of operations some hours ago, and were currently making their way to inspect what would eventually become their newest main base via ship. Naturally they weren't alone with Cthalpi, Juno, Rylen, Jaecar, Elsa, Annika, and Jillur going along with them, so that the Espada would have some people to utilize once they arrived at their destination.

Currently, Aizen, Amelia and Cthalpi were sitting around a table near the front of the ship, taking in the sea air as they talked. The trio was wearing plain looking clothing, or at least nothing that would get the attention of another ship and make them thing that they were anything more than merchants and the organizers of the Espada. So much so, Aizen was wearing his glasses and had his hair in its messy state.

"We leave the mainland and things turn out like this." Amelia sighed with a rather pleased tone.

"Agreed. Things have taken an interesting turn in the Dragon Kingdom. So much that we stand to profit even more than we could have expected. While I had wondered if our presence there might lead to us making contact with the Brightness Dragon Lord, the Elder Coffin Dragon Lord's attention is also a good in its own way. Even more so after Naz'da'gar defeats him in their planned duel." Aizen remarked with his usual cunning smile.

"Huh... You're sounding more confident than Naz.~" Amelia commented with a light chuckle.

"Perhaps, but he's letting his past get the better of him. No matter who his opponent is, he has to keep in mind why he was chosen to be the Cero Espada. It should still be fine, as I will be there as his witness, just in case."

"I doubt he would want you to interfere. Still, I agree that if he is careful and makes full use of his power, even with his avatar, he should be able to win this. Even if I am rather curious to see what this Elder Coffin Dragon Lord can do. Especially after what Sajin and the others said about their fight with 'Kana'." Amelia said, looking excited for the prospect of this battle.

"Assuming Nazz draws Kana away from the battlefield. Along with reinforcements from the Baharuth Empire and Slane Theocracy, we should be able to focus on any undead that is thrown at us, and the Beastman King Kaze when we time comes to re-take Asike." Aizen calmly added.

"Kaze? You think he will actually be there? I understand that they might have to face an undead force, but the King himself?"

"Indeed. I'm sure that he is no true King but a puppet, knowingly or not. It became clear by the attack on the village, that the Espada are pushing the beastmen too far back, and beyond the Dragon Lord's comfort. That is why he is having beastmen killed or taken back, like Tomo. He is preparing to bolster the enemy army as much as he can. Which will likely include having Kaze take part in the battle." The Shinigami correctly pointed out.

"Which, assuming that Nazz can hold Kana from the battlefield, will only benefit us. After all, if from what we know Kaze is at the same level as Tomo and the strongest undead are also at that level, even if they are Revenants, it shouldn't be too difficult for the Espada we have on site to handle. It also means that this war might soon be reaching its conclusion, which is even better, since we needed that as soon as possible to add to our feats. It'd be rather fitting of heroes.~" Amelia remarked with a mischievous chuckle.

"..."

As they spoke, Amelia noticed that Cthalpi had clearly ignored the entire conversation and her attention was fully placed away from them and on some point in the distance. Amelia had to call out to her several times until Cthalpi finally returned to her senses.

"I-Is something the matter?" Cthalpi asked, finally facing the duo.

"You tell us."

"I... Ahem. My apologizes. I am thankful for the fact that the Espada came to my island, that they offered us an alliance, and that it's been going well. I was even able to come and see the world once more. I just think that I should get back there. It may sound foolish, but I miss my people, and I worry for them." The Player informed.

"I understand, and I have nothing against you returning for the time being. However, I ask you wait until after we have arrived at our destination. It would benefit you to see a bit of it." Aizen cordially suggested.

"Agreed. I do think we're probably already risking our 'luck' by depriving the island of its god for too long. Still, like Aizen says, just see part of the Holy Kingdom and you can go." Amelia added.

"I am thankful for your understanding. And I apologize for not having participated in the conversation, but when it comes to what we've learned regarding the war, perhaps it would be best to send in more Fracción?" Cthalpi contemplatively added.

"That is a good point, and one I had considered before, but decided not to act on so as to make it seem like the Espada are still unfazed even in the face of a greater threat. Although to have it where they too call upon additional help would show more of the seriousness of the situation, and make our victory even more grand. Hm. In that case, we shall keep Shunsui and Ukitake there, and have them arrive at the same time as the rest of our reinforcements. Just in case there are any stronger opponents among the undead and beastmen, we'll be making use of Kenpachi and Yachiru. Hmm... Perhaps we shall also send Coyote Starrk and with Lilynette, since it is a bit of a waste not to send them into the field more often." Aizen sagely informed.

"Then how do you want to do this? Should I send word to them? Or we're going to have them just appear in the Dragon Kingdom with a letter?" Amelia inquisitively asked.

"We'll send them as soon as possible, with a letter from you regarding how we are sending in these extra combatants for free as a showing of good will. Perhaps it is something 'Nazz' can use to his advantage." Aizen said with an amused smirk.

The conversation then took a more menial tone, until a figure erupted from the sea just to land a few feet from their table. None were surprised, as this was Jillur bringing his superiors a report of what was happening under the waves. He and a few merfolk he knew, including his mate Mira were making sure nothing attacked them from beneath.

In addition, Jillur had also instructed his "pet" Kraken to follow the ship, but at a much greater distance. While that seemed overkill for a trip like this, it was justified by the fact Aizen wanted to make an impression on the one guarding the waters near the Roble Holy Kingdom, the Sea Dragon. For his protection duties, Jillur had opted to reduce himself to almost skin-tight pants to better move through the water as he liked.

"Our target approaches, Aizen-sama." Jillur professionally informed.

"Maybe that's why the ship seems to be swaying more than it was a while ago." Amelia mused.

"Finally. Inform the others and have them join us here. What about the merfolk?" Aizen asked, as he rose to his feet and removed his glasses.

"They are considering abandoning us, despite what we offered them for escorting the ship. Only Mira seems keen on staying, but even so I'm not sure for how long. This particular dragon holds a high standing in their eyes." Jillur informed, as he used his ring to inform the rest of the Espada.

"We just need a witness, just in case your word isn't enough." His superior added, brushing his hair back with his hand, surprising Cthalpi with how dramatic the change was for him.

At the same time Juno, Rylen, Jaecar, Elsa, and Annika appeared on the deck, with Cthalpi and Amelia rising to their feet. The former merchant now looking rather eager for what was about to happen, since she could tell Aizen wasn't going to employ his usual plotting for this one.

Just as Amelia had noted, the ship was swaying more and more, as a now visible and massive silhouette made its way towards them. This prompted all of the merfolk in the area to escape from their current positions near the ship while Mira, moved by her connection with Jillur, and a certain morbid curiosity to see what the Sea Dragon would do to the one named Aizen, climbed her way on to the ship.

"So, this is the one, Jillur.~" Annika chuckled as all eyes went to the female merfolk, whom thankfully wore a skintight one-piece bodysuit to cover her modesty.

"Pay her no mind, Mira. And remain close to me." Jillur sternly said.

Mira did as she was told, ignoring the gazes of the other individuals on the ship, but not failing to notice Annika who, she judged from her smell, was Jillur's partner, and what a beauty she was! Even for a merfolk like herself. However, she was able to push aside any jealousy as her attention then went to Cthalpi and Aizen.

This was the first time she was this close to either of them, and it suddenly became clear why Jillur with all his power would work for Aizen. The man had this strange and powerful presence to him. Not only did Aizen make her uneasy, but Cthalpi sported a very similar air to her, even if she felt a bit more familiar and twisted, akin to the few Deep Ones she had met.

Finally, the massive silhouette stopped at the ship's right, and so did the ship itself. A strange event that was followed by massive water tentacles to emerge from the sea, attaching to the vessel, ensuring wasn't going anywhere. This was followed by the new arrival, raising its long neck from under the sea, water cascading off it as its massive draconic eyes fell on the group.

The dragon was a dark bluish-green, with a much lighter shade upon its underbelly, with two long whisker-like barbels decorating its snout. A few long fangs were exposed on its upper jaw and a long fin went down the base of its head, to the base of his large and muscular tail. Indeed, its body was covered in clearly thick scales and was overall muscular, despite its longer and snake-like frame, along with its atrophied wings.

"Merfolk Mira, and Conqueror of the Kraken Jillur. I wasn't expecting to run into either of you in a situation like this." The Sea Dragon said, with a clearly male sounding voice and deep tone.

"My Lord..." Mira spoke up, but the dragon interrupted her.

"I don't need explanations from you, Mira. I do however require explanations from Jillur and those two." The Sea Dragon informed, his eyes going to Aizen and Cthalpi.

"While your appearance doesn't match what I was expecting, you are the one that resides in that solitary island correct?" He asked with a dignified tone, looking at Cthalpi.

"Correct. I am their ruler and watcher, Cthalpi."

"And you... I am unsure of what to say about you, since your presence is strangely similar to a Dragon Lord." He continued, now looking at Aizen.

"We'll get to that in due time. My name is Aizen. Sōsuke Aizen. What is yours?"

"Hmph! A bold way to address things, but my name is Karvi La Gama, also known as Sea Dragon and these are my waters. I want to know why you are here and why the Kraken is following your ship, even if at a distance." The Dragon informed, now with a more imposing tone.

"Aizen doesn't hold back too much." Amelia mumbled with a chuckle.

"We are of the Espada Mercenary Company, or simply the Espada. We are currently making our way to the Roble Holy Kingdom. The reason for all of this is naturally you, Karvi La Gama. I offer you an alliance with us, and with me." Aizen announced.

"...!"

Mira wanted to berate the man for addressing the Sea Dragon in such a disrespectful manner, but Jillur stopped her by placing a firm hand on her shoulder. While the reaction had been a spontaneous one, she would be lying if the fact the 'human' named Cthalpi being the one behind that sinister island did not unnerve her.

"A bold proposition, Aizen. However, these are my waters and any conversation with me usually starts with an offering. Especially if they are new to the area like you. Then why do you think you deserve different treatment?"

"Isn't my crew enough to warrant said 'different' treatment?" Aizen calmly retorted.

"Hmph. A fair point, but as you are I had no reason to think you have won over their loyalty with your power alone, and I don't think you have anything to offer me."

"Indeed, I have nothing material to offer you at present, but I have a goal. One that I used to gather all these forces under me, outside of my natural power. That goal being the unification of this world, under the point of view that all would be treated equally no matter what their race or standing."

"With you at the top I presume?" Karvi asked with a chuckle.

"Indeed. Only one can stand at the top." Aizen replied, getting a boisterous laugh out of the Sea Dragon.

"Hahahaha~! How amusing! However, such a thing can only be achieved if you have the power to reel in the more troublesome individuals..." Karvi began, when Amelia interrupted him.

"And you still think he doesn't? You have the 'Conqueror of the Kraken' here. A 'god' in Cthalpi. Not to mention that the revived Catastrophe Dragon Lord is one of the Espada. The Platinum Dragon Lord is already in an alliance with us, even if he doesn't know the full extent of our goals. We don't mean any disrespect, hence the sizable force we brought with us, but you are not at the level that can threaten us."

"Exactly so. On a scale of level 1 to 100, you are just a 50. Even if you are a dragon." Cthalpi added with a surprisingly cold tone.

"Level? I'm a 50? Wait... Those terms and manner of speech... D-Do you mean, that you are a Player of YGGDRASIL!?" Karvi gasped, his expression finally showing some clear concern, as he was aware of such things from his predecessor whom passed on his knowledge and powers of [Wild Magic].

"Yes, I can be referred to as such. I can also tell you that everyone here, not counting Mira and Amelia, stands above you in 'level'. And that Aizen, stands over even me as a level-100."

"Even so, we aren't here for violence. Simply to forge an alliance, and spread our operations to the Holy Kingdom." Aizen coolly said.

"Hrmm... You serve him, Cthalpi?" Karvi asked, clearly shaken by these sudden revelations.

"I serve my people. An alliance with Aizen benefits them and I, so I accepted it. So now I work towards our mutual goal. Under his guidance yes, but free to give my opinion and act as I see fit as long as it is justified."

"I'm surprised. To think a Player would bend the knee to anyone else... Grmm... Well, your goal certainly is noble, and I don't think any of you are lying, but I would like to see this power that made even a Player join you." The Sea Dragon said, his eyes going to Aizen with a deathly edge.

"Reconsider what you're saying, Karvi. It is for the best. After all there is no need for aggression. Just join us." Aizen insisted with a cautionary tone.

"I've already made my decision. Prove yourself to me, Aizen." Karvi growled back.

"Very well."

The moment Aizen's eyes met Karvi's, all present saw and felt a bright, purple aura form around his body. The very air around him started to vibrate, as the sensation went to the ship itself. So much so that the water tentacles that held the ship in place fell apart, and this sensation falling upon the Sea Dragon.

"Hurk!"

It was as if a massive weight had fell upon his body, prompting the Sea Dragon to slightly lower his head and even back away from the ship in surprise. It was all he could do to remain afloat, however this feeling didn't ease up. This prompted the Sea Dragon to prepare to call upon his [Wild Magic], but then this up until now physical pressure seemed to slip through his body and fell not only on his soul, but also on the souls he had accumulated during his life.

"Dammit!"

The dragon let out a booming hiss, unleashing a sizable ball of blue-colored flames upon the vessel. Something Juno was quick to act upon as she jumped onto the ship's railing and quick-drew her sword.

"[Slash of Light]."

With a calm tone, yet in a swift motion, Juno used her blade to deliver a blinding slash that dissipated the attack, much to Karvi's shock.

"Argh! Stop! I-I yield!" The dragon roared, as he felt this strange pressure eat away at his and his storage of souls.

As soon as he admitted defeat, the pressure vanished, and the aura that decorated Aizen along with it. Karvi letting out a loud groan, as his body sunk deeper into the water until only his head was barely still above the water, and his breathing now heavy and labored.

"I am glad that you have seen reason, and honored that you agreed to this alliance, Karvi. I look forward to working together with you in the future." Aizen said in a calm, and strangely friendly tone that made some of them think he was mocking the Sea Dragon.

In the blink of an eye everything started to make sense in Mira's eyes. It was enough to where she immediately tried to kneel before the clearly god-like power this man Aizen possessed, but was stopped when Jillur squeezed her shoulder. She understood this to mean that she should not go ahead with her intention and she held onto herself. However, both still knew that when she returned to her people Mira would need to tell them of what happened. Especially what transpired with the Sea Dragon.

Naturally, this was part of Aizen's plan. It was precisely why he asked Jillur to enlist some merfolk to "escort" them. The purpose of this trip was not only to travel to and establish their operations in the Roble Holy Kingdom, but make it clear that these waters no longer belonged to the Sea Dragon. After all, his control on them was already questionable the moment Cthalpi took up residence on her island. Meaning that now that the Sea Dragon yielded before Aizen's "request", and Cthalpi herself joining with Aizen, once the merfolk were to learn of all of this, a large portion of sea was now under Aizen's control.

"W-What will you have of me? Ahem!" Karvi asked, slowly lifting his head back to eye level with the ship's crew.

"As you said, there is merit to my goal. Now that you have agreed to our alliance, I want your aid achieving it. Nothing more. For the time being, I simply wish that you continue performing your regular duties as 'Guardian Deity' of these waters." Aizen calmly replied.

"...Very well." The Sea Dragon said, though still weary of Aizen.

"Then, you can take your leave if you wish."

Karvi let out a low growl as eyed the entire group once more, and then gave them a nod before vanishing back into the sea. He would need time allow this new existence to fully settle in, along with tending to his wounded pride.

"Jillur, we will not require the merfolks' services anymore. You may take them back. I'll give you three days to do so, and to rest." Aizen informed, giving this large period of time as a reward for the Espada.

"Thank you, Aizen-sama." Jillur said in a stoic, yet still grateful tone.

As the ship continued on its way to the Roble Holy Kingdom, back in the Dragon Kingdom both Abel and Cerabrate had been sent back to the capital as soon as word of their meeting with the representatives of other nations fell on Ezekiel's ears.

Both men and Carmyn, who had taken care of their "travel", decided to join in and been taken to a room where they were greeted by Prime Minister Falko, who was sitting behind a desk with General Iain to his right, and General Sol to his left. As soon as they entered the room the door was closed. While the Espada's presence was surprising, both men were left open to the Prime Minister's clear displeasure.

"What were the both of you thinking!? What makes you think that either of you had the right to go speak with any of those two, and ask them not only to join the fight, but also to call upon their nations for additional help!?" Falko growled, surprising those who knew him with his ire.

"..."

Abel went to speak, but Carmyn promptly spoke over him.

"It was our idea. After the events of this battle, we thought that it would be for the best to gather as many forces as possible and hit the next city with all we can muster when the time comes. The enemy clearly isn't as stupid or weak as we've been led to believe. After our latest string of victories, they will try to get back their lost ground." She sternly informed.

"What makes you think this?" Iain asked with a skeptical tone.

Naturally Iain had been briefed on what happened, and given his current unfavorable standing with his Dragon Lord superior, he wanted to find a way get himself out of such a precarious situation, and by any means necessary.

"It's the natural thing to do after so many losses. Along with the fact that there might be more Beastmen Lords still lurking, and we have been faced with a powerful undead, that was clearly created by the enemy. Now is the time for us to regroup, recover, and bolster our forces." She replied.

"It won't harm us to be cautious. Or to procure more forces." Sol pointed out in a placating manner.

"I agree that we are in need of more forces. Especially after losing part of Crystal Tear. But such forces come with costs." Iain said with a weary sigh.

"Exactly. More money and dept, and more commitment from us. And you, Cerabrate... Who said you were in a position to offer the Empire one of our cities!?" Falko growled.

"With all due respect, it was a wager. One that involves a city that is paid little to no attention to, and one that the Empire has shown interest in the past. It will cover the cost of whatever forces they send in easily, if they win the wager." Cerabrate calmly argued with surprising grace, whilst the prime minister sighed.

"If they accept your terms. Which isn't likely to happen... As for you Abel, at least you didn't go and offer them a city, but Commander to have not discussed payment for more troops… is also very troublesome. Not to mention none of you should have done this to begin with."

"I should add that the Espada will be deploying four more Fracción free of charge, so as to aid in the upcoming battles." Carmyn announced.

"That's... very generous of you." Iain remarked in surprise.

"Once again, we are very grateful to the Espada... And I want the two of you to understand that you aren't yet trusted to make such decisions. Especially with nations that are several times our better, and only gain from either having more of their men here or further weakening us, whether it be politically or economically. Do you understand that?"

"Yes, we do." Both Abel and Cerabrate replied in surprising unison.

"Good... Now, comes the part where I congratulate both of you on having had the courage and initiative to see such difficult tasks through. We can only hope it will do us as much good as we need. But now let's move on to other matters..." Falko said, pausing has he rubbed his temples.

There was no other way to put it. They had been foolish to put themselves in such a situation, to have made it so they were the ones that called upon reinforcements from other nations, but Falko knew that to save time and face, there really was no other way. Not when the opponent seemed to be so powerful, and some of their worst fears seemed to be coming true. Which became all the more apparent with the loss of two adamantite-ranked adventurers. It was not an exaggeration to say that such losses had a direct impact on their national strength, image, and morale. But first things first, as the prime minister spoke.

"Commander Abel, your contributions to this battle were, while minimal, were no less vital in keeping the Espada safe, as they dealt with the threat of our first confirmed Beastman Lord. You are to be commended for having accepted such an assignment, especially when there are many that would have pushed to be put on the frontlines, and further their reach within our military."

"Even if your motivations seem to be influenced by the Espada. Have they perhaps offered you a position within their ranks?" Iain asked in a veiled, accusatory tone.

"With all due respect General Iain, that is a moot point. While it is true that I have devoted a lot of my time to helping the Espada with their tasks and have been open about it, I would never accept an offer that would take me away from my country, unless said request was for its benefit." Abel replied, with a serious and confident tone.

"That's a good attitude to have. I daresay it is fitting of a general. Now, why don't we move on to Crystal Tear?" Falko suggested, looking at General Iain in a displeased manner.

"As you wish."

"First, our condolences for the deaths of Diogo and Bane. Theirs is certainly a major loss for our country. However, it also showed that you are very capable of leading. For that I won't decide what your next move is, but I will make it so that Labrax is permanently added to your unit of support troops, since you have worked with him before."

"Forgive me prime minister, but I must ask, why the freedom? Especially after what happened?" Cerabrate asked, still dwelling over his failure.

"I was told that you cowered in the face of an opponent that easily broke apart our formation. Was unaffected by everything thrown at him, and easily killed two of your people. You cannot be blamed for what happened. Though I can stand here and congratulate you for regaining your senses and pushing on. Not only that, but helping our forces regroup and leading them into battle. Doing more than was expected of you. I am giving you this freedom because now is the time for you to decide where your ambitions lie." Falko replied, causing the adventurer to gulp silently at the implications.

"I see... Then I accept Labrax into my group as a temporary member. After that? I cannot say I have thought of it. I still need time to think things through. On the other hand, I have been praised and congratulated for the role I took during the battle, despite taking it upon myself to make a deal with another nation. I say that, I wouldn't mind taking on such a role again. If it became necessary."

It was very clear to Falko that the Cerabrate of old had almost completely vanished. It was very relief since he was now certain the adventurer wouldn't try to do anything in regards to his ambitions. Especially those related to the Queen. At the same time, it worried him to no end that even such a powerful and proud man had been broken and humbled by the enemy.

"That can be arranged if you wish. Nevertheless, we thank you for your work not only as an adventurer, but as a leader. That concludes all we had to say. I'll give word to everyone once I know what our 'allied' nations have decided. Until, then you are dismissed." Falko informed.

With that Abel, Cerabrate, and Carmyn exited the room and promptly made their way back to Himassa, even if they did so at different paces. Abel and Carmyn went back together, clearly pleased with the way things had gone, while Cerabrate lagged behind still thinking of what he would do in the future. While he still wanted his group to be successful like before, he had come to consider the strength held by an army, and dreaded what else awaited them as they continued to push the beastmen back...
