Although Harry believed what Fleur had told all of them in Dumbledore's office, he wanted to see for himself. He and Daphne took his dragon egg to the prefect's bathroom. Daphne tossed her robe on the floor. She already had on a one-piece swimsuit in royal blue underneath which nicely hugged her curves in all the right places. Harry couldn't help it but to stare and he was certainly glad he invited her along for this.

Harry nervously dropped his robe on the floor right next to Daphne's. He had on maroon swim shorts.

"You certainly keep yourself in shape." Daphne nodded approvingly as she admired his form. "I am really glad you invited me." They both entered the pool, then submerged the egg in the water. They heard an almost musical message coming from the egg.

An ear-piercing screech above the ground,
Join us, where our voice is sound,
We've taken one you would like thrown into the abyss,
Allow that, then victory you will surely miss,
You will only have an hour to look,
And reclaim what we took,
But after that, if your efforts lack,
Dear Harry James Potter, your opportunity won't come back.

"Looks like the messages were personalized for each one of us," Harry said.

"We've taken one you would like thrown into the abyss," Daphne repeated the line that really stood out to her. "Either that part of the message is different for each champion too or all of you got someone you can't stand."

"So far Delacour is the only other one who complained about who she has to rescue," Harry said.

"I can see why she would complain. Pansy was so rude to her," Daphne admitted.

"She is rude to everyone, even you," Harry said. "Someone she calls a friend."

"Yeah, I guess you are right, but right now I don't want to think about that. I just want to kiss my sexy boyfriend," Daphne said.

"Let me know when he gets here," Harry joked.

Daphne laughed and then leaned in and kissed him. What started as a few gentle pecks on the lips, quickly turned into full-on snogging. Harry remembered his bet with Mr. Greengrass. He knew this was what he would really miss if he didn't win.

Edwin Gaunt met privately with Severus Snape. They had a rather heated shouting match that would have been heard three floors away were it not for silencing charms. Daphne and Astoria approached. They opened the door and walked through only to hear the tag end of the conversation. "You wouldn't want everyone to know about the crowds you used to hang out with, would you?" Mr. Gaunt asked.

"Well that girl should be punished," Snape said.

Daphne and Astoria looked at each other and they immediately knew what this was about.

Mr. Gaunt nodded. "That is fine, but don't get the girl expelled or anything that gets her parents involved. Do we understand each other?"

"I will think about it," Professor Snape said his voice laced with venom. He had no intention of giving in to blackmail, but he felt he could better prepare for the consequences if he had a head start.

"You do that," Mr. Gaunt said before making a hasty departure.

Of course, Astoria wore her mind reading amulet, so she realized this wasn't going to go well. As much as she knew she was in trouble, she gained a new respect for Professor Snape as she realized how much they had in common where at one time she planned to confess to avoid blackmail herself. "I don't blame you for not giving in to blackmail. I wouldn't either," she admitted sheepishly. "But I can't help wondering, what crowd you used to hang out with." She knew what she was doing. She hoped asking would make him think about the answer to her question, but as luck would have it, it didn't work. Only one name was on Professor Snape's mind, so Astoria had to ask. "Who is Lilly and why shouldn't you be hanging out with her?"

"She is just someone I knew a long time ago," Professor Snape answered.

"Lily?" Daphne questioned as she wondered if that meant Harry's mother. Astoria looked at her and shrugged. They both knew Harry's mother's first name was Lily, but surely, she wasn't the only person who ever had that name.

Astoria hoped Professor Snape would be questioning the silencing charms not working properly, but she was wrong. They didn't even talk about Lilly and the surface thoughts from him focused purely on how the heck did she know about Lilly, the only woman he ever loved? "And loved," Astoria mumbled in a tone barely above a whisper. She couldn't picture Professor Snape ever loving anybody, but she knew it was true.

"Never mind that. We need to discuss something else," Professor Snape commanded. Then he paused briefly with a scowl. He stood up so he towered over her and his expression hardened.

"You will tell me where exactly you got the Polyjuice potion," Professor Snape demanded.

"One of the teachers had quite the stash of it. I helped myself to one," Astoria said. She could hear the unspoken accusations flying from Professor Snape's mind. "Yes, I stole it, but only one."

"I think I know where you are going with this," Daphne said. "It wasn't her that posed as me and slept with Malfoy."

"Are you sure?" Professor Snape asked Daphne.

"Positive." She nodded.

"I know who did that," Astoria said with a smirk. "I could tell you. I could even tell you which teacher has a stash of polyjuice too." She knew this was something he really wanted to know.

"Tell me!" He tried to intimidate her with a glare.

"What do I get out of it if I cooperate?"

"How about me reconsidering the decision to have you expelled?"

"It is like you read my mind."

Daphne couldn't help it but to chuckle at the irony of that.

Astoria took Professor Snape to Moody's back office. She investigated where the potions used to be and of course they weren't there now. 'Damn it' Astoria thought to herself. Then she heard another thought she wasn't quite sure where it was coming from.

'Help! Let me out of here!' The thoughts got louder in her head to the point of practically screaming. She walked till the sound got closer. She came upon a locked chest.

"Maybe the potions are locked in here," Astoria said.

Professor Moody raced into the room. His jaw dropped as he saw Astoria with her wand pointed at the chest. "Don't open that," he screamed.

Astoria didn't listen. Instead, she pointed her wand at the chest. "Alohomora," she called out. Energy flew from her wand and the chest unlocked. An all tied up Professor Moody rolled out of the chest. In comparing the two of them, they looked mostly the same except the one from the chest looked thinner and paler.

Professor Snape looked between the two versions of Professor Moody. "There better be a good explanation for this," Professor Snape said.

"I have no idea," Astoria answered.

The Professor Moody who wasn't tied up, turned away and ran down the Hallway. Professor Snape pulled out his wand and pursued him.

The Professor Moody who was all tied up, tried to speak, but couldn't do to being gagged, but Astoria could hear his thoughts.

"You're welcome," Astoria said. "Oh, of course." She ungagged him so he could speak, then she started to untie him. By the time she finished, Professor Snape and the imposter Moody were long gone.

Astoria and Professor Moody went to Dumbledore to report on this. Professor Moody explained that he was tied up and locked away in that chest since the start of the school year. He had no idea who locked him up or why as the person who did it looked like himself. He knew he was in there for a long time, but he was surprised to learn that he had missed half the school year.

Professor Snape joined them. His hair was messed up and his all black robes were now covered in tiny white feathers. "Don't ask," he said as he did his best to brush off the feathers. "I couldn't catch him."

"Lucky for him. If I got my hands on him!" Professor Moody said with a clenched fist.

"Oh, glad I am not him," Astoria said. She knew exactly what he wanted to do to that scumbag who had him locked up for so long.

"For you, I think a reward is in order. I am awarding your house fifty points. I would like to make it more, but only Dumbledore can award more than that," Professor Moody declared. "You saved my life."

"I wouldn't go that far," Astoria said.

"I would. The only reason I was kept alive was so who ever was behind this could always have fresh hair samples for his polyjuice potion. He even gloated, telling me that I would be killed after I was no longer needed." Then he stopped talking and only thought, 'That is a mind reading amulet you're wearing isn't it? Don't worry, I won't tell. I am very grateful for what you did.'

"Ok, I will give her an additional fifty points. Well deserved." Dumbledore nodded. Then he looked to Professor Snape. "And I believe that puts Slytherin in the lead." The emeralds piled up in Slytherin's hourglass.

"That is very nice of both of you, but I am about to be…" Astoria began to speak. She was going to say something about being expelled. Where she failed to find the potions, she wasn't so sure her deal with Professor Snape still held.

"One of my best students." Professor Snape patted her on the back. "Run along. I will see you in class." He told Astoria.

"Thank you!" Astoria did as commanded and couldn't wait to tell Daphne all about this.

Astoria joined Harry, Daphne, Ron and Hermione in the courtyard. "So, how did it go?" Daphne asked with a deep sigh preparing herself for the worst.

"Well, you know how you say you sometimes think you were cursed with bad luck?" Astoria asked. She stopped herself from smirking and did her best to keep a straight face.

"That bad?" Daphne just looked down at the ground.

"Actually, it is almost like I got a Felix Felicis potion or something," Astoria said gleefully.

"A what?" Ron asked.

"A liquid luck potion," Hermione answered.

"Not only am I not in trouble, but I just earned one hundred points in the house cup competition. That was enough to put Slytherin in the lead. Professor Snape is very happy with me now," Astoria gushed.

She could hear the thoughts of the three Gryffindors. Ron and Hermione were both happy she wasn't going to be expelled but didn't quite like the fact that Slytherin was in the lead. Harry was happy for her, but if Slytherin were to take the house cup this year, he somehow wished Daphne and Astoria could win but Draco doesn't.

"Don't worry guys. It is far from over." Astoria couldn't help it but to snicker at their thoughts.

"How did you do that?" Daphne asked with a big smile on her face.

"You may think you know Professor Moody, but" Astoria began.

"Yeah," both Hermione and Daphne answered with a hint of distain in their voice which was nothing in comparison to the negative thoughts both harbored for him.

"No, actually, you don't know Professor Moody." Astoria explained everything to them about how she freed Professor Moody, who had been locked up the entire school year and replaced with an imposter.

"So, it was the imposter who tried to have me convicted for putting Harry's name in the Goblet of Fire," Hermione said.

"Me too!" Daphne exclaimed. "Are you thinking what I am thinking?"

Astoria nodded vigorously knowing that both Hermione and Daphne were thinking it was probably the fake professor Moody who put Harry's name in the Goblet of Fire.

Hermione wondered if that was the big secret Malfoy's lawyer had on Professor Moody. If so, the lawyer might know who was behind it. Hermione wished she had a mind reading amulet of her own so she could pay that lawyer a visit and find out, but there was no way she was going to make the same mistake twice and actually steal it from Astoria. She had learned her lesson. She contemplated asking if she could borrow it but doubted Astoria would say yes.

Astoria just smiled at her and then whispered, "Or we could go together."
