Hey guys.

I'm not gonna say that it's been a while, because it's been A LONG-ASS WHILE.

I will announce it now: a continuation for this story is highly unlikely. I just can't bring myself to write it (and it's been that way for years). Apologies to the folks that wanted to see cool things and got invested. Y'all were super supportive, and your words truly touched me.

If I ever do continue the story, it could be in many years from now, as I'm dealing with some personal issues, and I don't know when and if I could return to the state required for writing this specific story. It has a special place in my heart, due to the issues it deals with. I'd love to make it as I imagined one day. I already decided on the ending, after all.

If you like, you can forget about this story with one last thought that maybe in the future a notification will pop up that a new chapter was added, and you'll find it again.

Otherwise, if you feel like you don't want to wait for something that might never come, if you just want to know how the story finishes... feel free to proceed below.

Well, here we are, you're probably reading this far because you just want to know what happens in the story, even if it's never going to be written. I get it, curiosity can be a real pain in the ass. So I'll try to summarize all my ideas, at the best of my abilities...

.

As we all know, Izuku unlocked his powers when Rin interacted with him. There were going to be more ESP like Izuku and Rin, people who had by chance activated their powers. ESP was going to be revealed as the predecessor of all quirks, as you'd find out later. There would be some cool individual ESP users, some friendly, others neutral... They weren't going to be main characters, but they'd still have a great impact on Izuku.

There would be other cool powers Izuku would unlock with time, some he'd discover by accident, others when in dire need. Those would include becoming invisible, astral projecting (which would put his body in an automatic defence state where anything that touched him would instantly decay, like Shigaraki's quirk), he could also use some sort of green lightning energy (think also Kaminari's electricity), and he could manipulate cold and fire (like Todoroki) and even cause explosions a few times (like Bakugou). The discovery of these powers would cause some turmoil in the relationships of the class, as the other students, particularly Bakugou, would view him suspiciously because of this and feel inferior, as Izuku appears to be able to display a lot of their own quirks. Izuku himself would feel guilty about it, and try to use only telekinesis as his trademark quirk.

Other powers, the more interesting ones, would include telepathy, and the ability to create a "Time Pocket" - basically, he could freeze time except for himself and anything in a one meter radius, so that he could exist unbothered for a while and avoid attacks. Also the reverse, where he could freeze time for himself, and basically disappear for a while, as he basically skipped forward into the future by doing this. Yeah, I know, it would be a complicated power. Rin couldn't get to sort it out because she didn't develop it herself, so Izuku would have a hard time trying to use this.

Also about telepathy: it would be Izuku's worst nightmare. Basically, he'd feel bad that he couldn't help all the people now that he could hear their despair all the time, and this woulg get Izuku fall into a really bad depression at some point, which Rin, his friends, Nana, All Might, and everyone basically, would pull him out of.

Rin would train Izuku more on how to use his powers. The ghosts would also be recruited to help Izuku find out about the movements of the Anti-hero organisations, including the League of Villains that Shigaraki would belong to.

All for One would accidentally learn about Izuku's ability to deal with Time-Pockets, and he would order him to be abducted, in case the quirk could be used for achieving immortality, somehow (All for One didn't figure out that Izuku was an ESP user at first, only later, and his knowledge about ESP was little anyway). It was during his time abducted that Izuku would end up using his astral projection for the first time, managing to get to Rin and have her cause a poltergeist phenomenon that would give clues to his friends and the Heroes about his whereabouts).

All Might wouldn't choose Izuku as his successor, but Mirio Togata, who would go on to become the greatest hero. Still, All Might would be a very good teacher to Izuku, regardless. Izuku would also send Nana Shimura's regards to him, and help him have closure about some issues. Nana would eventually pass on, after confirming that things will be alright for her disciple, after he's managed to forgive himself.

Anyway... there'd be a lot of adventures. The class would bond quite a lot with time. Bakugou would apologize to Izuku eventually, and admit to him that he felt guilt for all the years of bullying that he put him through. While there would always be an air of awkwardness in their conversations, Izuku and Bakugou would have some kind of friendship, respecting and trusting each other in the battlefield.

Oh, also, this one might have been a bit obvious but, there would also be a period where the UA staff would be trying to find who was the traitor and giving information to the Leage of Villains. Izuku would be their number one suspect, because he seems like he could have been given multiple quirks by All for One, or even according to a theory that he could be All for One's son with the same quirk inherited. Although All Might doesn't doubt Izuku, having seen first hand that he has a good heart, the Principal and others would keep a close eye on him for months. I haven't decided who would be the traitor in the end, but the point is, everything would be resolved and Izuku would be proven innocent.

There would be a few slice of lice chapters, not just fights and mystery and stuff. I would have tried to make it enjoyable, and show the progress that Izuku gradually has as he gets better with communication skills and builds his relationships with classmates, making friends and raising his self-esteem and confidence. There would also be some backstory for the characters (such as Todoroki, Mina, or Kirishima's stories). You'd also get to see that Izuku had a fragile relationship with his father, who would be revealed to be in jail - it wouldn't be talked much, as it would be irrelevant to Izuku's life. Seeing how Todorki learned to let go of his rage towards his father, Izuku would also be able to process some of his emotions, and finally talk to his mom about his father a little.

Also, I'd add some All Might x Inko Midoriya romance in there, because what the hell, it's interesting, plus I think it'd be hella funny to have Izuku try to accept the fact that his mom is dating the Symbol of Peace. I'd also show how Izuku would have ended up putting All Might off the pedestal (a process that started even from chapter 1). The two are able to talk more comfortably as time passes.

Now, the big Ending: it wouldn't be an epic fight against some dangerous ESP villain or anything like that.

I thought that something far more terrifying, raw and realistic, would be a natural disaster. In a natural disaster, there's no bad guy to beat, you can only strive to save as many people as you can, and the core value of being a hero is saving those in need in the first place.

In this case, I would make it be a tsunami. Japan, as you probably know, has mourned many victims from tsunami before. It is very terrifying and awful, and I wanted to show that it's a tragedy and raise awareness.

So, even from the first few chapters, I'd introduce you guys to Izuku's reoccuring vision (his premonition powers would kick in during his sleep). He would hear water, and smell something salty, before waking up. At first, the vision was weak, and he'd disregard it as a simple dream. But as months pass, Izuku would begin to feel fear when having that vision, and eventually he'd be able to see a huge wave, and understand that it was a tsunami. But the vision would never give him any other information about when it was bound to occur, and so nobody could really do much to prepare.

Then, one final day, Izuku would have the final vision, where he had the opportunity to look at a pharmacy's flashing sign where the date and time were written: around him, the town appeared to be damaged by a heavy earthquake, and in the distance he could hear the tsunami warning sirens. He'd wake up with nothing but hours at hand. A warning for the earthquake and tsunami would be issued by the government, after he'd have All Might and the UA staff convince the higher ups about the realness of the danger. Thankfully, due to Izuku's warnings the citizens could be safe during the earthquake.

But then, the tsunami would be fast approaching, with little time at hand. The coast towns would be mostly evacuated, but some bigger cities wouldn't have enough time for everyone to get to safety. As the tsunami would be a horrifying size, the damage would be terrible, and some lives could be lost.

Izuku would use his ESP to push the tsunami back along the entire area of the japanese coast that would be hit. Although he couldn't stop it entirely, he would manage to reduce its force and size very considerably, saving thousands of people and property.

This would take a huge toll on him however, and Izuku would be unable to use his ESP from there onwards. Yet, a single leftover ability would still work: Seeing and talking to the deceased.

In the Final Chapter, it would be revealed that Izuku went on to become a popular novellist, known for his heartfelt stories. As a side-occupation, Izuku would help ghosts move on, talking to them and helping them out with their unfinished business. Tanaka is still around, being a sort of manager for Izuku's appointments with the various ghosts in town. In his free time, Izuku would hang out with his friends from Class A, who would all have graduated UA and become great Heroes.

Rin and Izuku would have a final chat on the roof of the building where Izuku once wished to put an end to his life. Rin would note how much Izuku grew over the years, and that she believes he's become a wonderful young man. Izuku accepts the compliments and expresses gratitude for Rin's guidance, and her saving him from his own self, oh so very long ago. Izuku talks about how in love he is with life now, and how he wants to treasure every moment. When Rin asks him if he's bothered that he never graduated UA to become a hero to fight against crime and had to give up on his dream, Izuku points out that he still gets to save people, those who nobody else can see, and perhaps those who read his books and feel unseen. After a few moments of silence, Rin says she's very tired, and that maybe it's time for her to take a nap. She asks Izuku if she can keep his cardigan, his glasses and his shoes, to which he laughs and says that he's outgrown them anyway, and that she should keep them as a souvenir. Rin makes a few more jokes about Izuku's brocolli hair, and wishes "Peter Pan the Deku Bread Man" all the best luck with his new girlfriend. Izuku blushes and turns around, demanding to know how she found out about it since he and Uraraka only shared a kiss the day before, but he can only hear faint laughter - Rin is no longer there. Izuku Midoriya smiles to himself, happy that Rin was finally able to rest, and deciding that looking at the sunset on his own is lonely, heads down the stairs with phone in hand to ask Uraraka if she'd like to have dinner with him later.

.

Anyway, this is how it would end.

I wanted to give a bittersweet but ultimately good and happy ending. I really wanted this to be a story about Izuku overcoming his depression, opening up and becoming more social, embracing his self for who he is, standing proud and confident in the world, despite the mistakes and hardships that accompanied him everywhere. You see, I was in a very bad place when I first came up with the idea for this story, and even before I had written the first chapter, I'd decided that I wanted this to have a happy ending, and show that everything passes, and good comes along, not just bad. I hoped it would be a good message to all of you, dear readers, who might have felt tired at some point in your lives, perhaps. I wanted to let you know that, you're not alone, and it does get better.

I promise you that it does.

Oh, I also wanted to show that Izuku could still help people, even without actively battling villains or chasing criminals in general. Just by showing kindness, he could help others. And he also touched so many with his novels, giving them a nice story for when days are dark and you need to escape somewhere nice for a while. Maybe that's my own dream (becoming a writer) that I inserted in this story... But I started writing the story for myself too, so I guess it's fine. Midoriya Izuku seems like the kind of character who'd make a good writer, anyway.

In regards to the tile: I think it's pretty obvious that what I'm referring to is human lives, as sand that runs in an hourglass. But the cool thing about hourglasses is that you can choose to turn them over and have the sand move once more :)

To you, my dearest readers, I truly wish all the best in life. Chase your dreams, but more importantly, chase the little moments that make life truly worth living. However, don't sweat about it too much- you won't have to do the chasing all the time, time has a habit of bringing things to you as well. All sorts of pleasant surprises, that you can't imagine happening, are already on their way to find you. Hold your chin up, take a deep breath, look at the sky, even if its pitch black and cloudy outside, and declare to the sun and all the other hidden or visible stars that you are here today. And You Are Not Alone.
