Fire POV

I lean against Fury as he finishes telling our story, watching Astrid deflate with almost every word.

"So, let me get this straight – your Night Furies are the friends that've been tryin' to get you two together?" Gobber asks with wide eyes.

I chuckle with Fury at that. "Out of the whole story you just heard, that's what you choose to question first?" I ask around my giggles.

He gives me a bland look. "I knew abou' everythin' but those two friends of yours actually bein' dragons and their intentions this whole time, Fire, so don't you be getting' on me abou' tha'!"

"I was going to ask about that myself, Aida," Stoick rumbles in agreement. "What is your… relationship to one another?"

I look up at Fury with a slight blush. "He insists on following human traditions as much as we can. Not that we don't bend the rules enough already…" I drawl, getting a blush out of Fury. "But nothing to be worried about."

"Unless Snotlout attempts to make a move on my betrothed again," Fury mutters, pulling me into his side and resting his warm hand on my bare side, tracing circles lightly with his fingers.

"This is… really going to take time to get used to," Fishlegs stutters, blushing madly and trying to keep from looking away.

"And when did you ask her?" Stoick asks in shock.

I whistle innocently and look up at the ceiling. "Funny story, actually," Fury chuckles, shaking with laughter. "I actually asked for permission from Eclipse last night while she and Pitch were getting dinner, and asked right before we laid down for the night." He jerks his shoulder, forcing me to look back at everyone. "Let's just say…"

"It was about damn time," I announce rather loudly. "Poor Fury's been dancing around his feelings for years."

"Yeah, well… that incident made everything a little worse."

I shiver involuntarily at the reminder, touching the scar on my neck. "Certainly a memorable experience, to say the least."

Gobber notices my small gesture. "An' how did you get tha' scar?"

I trade a wary look with Fury, letting him answer. "It's a long story, and you wouldn't believe us if we told you."

"You've been living with dragons since that night, which is already pretty hard to believe. What's next? You went traipsing around with the gods?" Astrid asks with a scoff.

I wince at that. "Actually, that did happen a little after we befriended Pitch and Eclipse."

"I now have a healthy respect for the strength of non-Vikings," Fury mutters. "And the Gods we fought alongside were entirely too happy to see Vikings and dragons. The guy we were against… not so much."

I roll my eyes, smirking at the warning rumble of thunder over Berk. "Alright, no more baiting Asgardians Fury. Heimdall might just let your favorite of the two through if we aren't careful."

"He's due for a visit anyway, might as well tease the guy a little bit," he answers far too cheerfully.

"Yes, because antagonizing Asgardians has always been a bad habit of yours." I wince at the clap of thunder in what had just been a sunny day. "Great, now you've done it." I grab my helmet, twisting my hair up and tucking my head and hair into it, forcing loose strands into the back of the helmet before stalking to the back door. "You know where to find me if he doesn't smite you."

With that, I push through the door and run into the forest, chilled drops of rain beginning to fall from the sky as thunder rolls through the dark clouds. In my element, I pull myself into the branches of the first tree on the edge of the forest, jumping through the limbs easily and almost carelessly, eyes darting around to find the strongest and weakest branches three trees ahead on my route to the cove. The rain builds in strength, making the branches almost dangerously slippery and difficult to keep my balance on. But the fear of falling fades once more as I see that beautiful flash of white scales rushing my way, and in a heartbeat I jump onto her back, flying with Eclipse between the trees of the dense forest of Berk.

"Fury baited Thor, didn't he?" she asks me, growls filled with the same annoyance flashing in her eyes.

I nod, scratching lightly at the scales behind her ears. "I told him not to, but since when does he ever give up the chance to taunt someone?"

"Thor went to see Pitch in the cove, but I left because I knew you would be on your way there in a poor attempt at avoiding the noisy Asgardian," she ends in a soft, teasing croon. "They might be on their way to the village now, if they aren't busy fighting again."

I roll my eyes at her. "Something tells me you want to go watch them," I grumble, and she gives me a sheepish, gummy smile. "Alright, fine, let's go to the cove to say hello."

She warbles happily, shifting with excitement and weaving through the trees back the way she came faster than when she met up with me. "Thank you, my little Fire."

I smile softly at her, laying down against her back and pressing my lips in a soft kiss to the top of her head. "I love you too, Eclipse."

Pitch warbles in laughter, echoed by booming laughs. "Careful Fire, or Fury might get jealous," he teases, coming over to delicately pull me off my dragon's back with his mouth, teeth retracted so he won't accidentally hurt me.

I scratch at the sides of his jaws, right at the hinge where he loves being scratched. He closes his eyes and pushes his snout into my stomach, crooning and purring. "Then should I be jealous of you and Fury?"

Thor, laughing at the three of us, lifts me up and into a bone-crushing hug. "Little Fire, you have grown much these past years," he greets, almost whispering compared to his normally booming voice.

I grin, despite the lack of air going into my lungs, and try to hug him back. "It's good to see you again too, Lord Thor," I return, a little less enthusiastically and nearly wheezing from how tightly he holds me.

He releases me almost immediately, a sheepish grin on his lips as he sets me down between the Night Furies. "Heimdall informed us congratulations were in order for you and Fury."

I grin shyly up at that. "Thanks, Lord Thor."

"Come along, Little Fire. I come bearing gifts for you and your betrothed from my kin and our comrades of Midgard!" He promptly throws me over his shoulder and takes off towards Berk at a sprint, one arm wrapped firmly around my waist and the other around a chest half my size.

I beat uselessly against his back. "Thor! Come on, I'm almost an adult!" At his continued laughter, I simply pout. "This is embarrassing!"

"I have not seen two of my comrades for nearly two years, Little Fire. Allow me my fun," he chuckles merrily, slowing down as the tree line ends, just behind the Chief's house.

"Please put me down! How are you gonna open the door, yell until the whole village is here wondering why it looks like you're trying to kidnap me?" I ask, sarcasm bleeding through enough to prove I'm starting to truly be influenced by Fury.

"I was just about to ask about that," Stoick calls faintly, making me smack the back of Thor's head before I twist around to look at the paling Chief. "Aida? Is… is he…?" he stutters nervously.

I roll my eyes as Thor finally returns me to my feet at his side. "Chief Stoick, this is a good friend of ours, Lord Thor Odinson of Asgard. Thor, this is Chief Stoick 'the Vast' Haddock of Berk; Fury's… father."

"The man who cast you both aside," he growls coldly.

"No smiting him, I don't want to have a horde of angry Vikings blaming me for having the God of Thunder killing their precious Chief. Make him sweat if you really need to, but absolutely no smiting," I whisper, grabbing him arm and doing a poor job of pulling him along to the house. "Come on, it's raining out here and I don't wanna get sick."

He quickly moves a hand to rest on my shoulder, guiding me around Stoick and into the house. "Ah, Fury! Just the Viking we were looking for!"

"Hey Thor," Fury greets him, slightly nervous. "Ah, you know I was just kidding, right?"

Thor laughs at his nervousness. "Of course, my friend. Comrades may jest amongst one another, or they may not be a team." He hefts the chest onto the table in front of Fury, sitting me down next to Fury and taking the seat to my right. "Gifts from comrades and kin, for birthdays, holidays, and your betrothal!"

I laugh at Fury's confused frown. "But… it just happened last night. How did you all get all of this so fast?"

Thor laughs heartily at this, and now I'm also confused. "My friends… Heimdall has watched the two of you for us since we parted ways, and we all knew it would happen sooner rather than later. The Man of Iron was insistent upon having gifts prepared for this glorious day!"

I roll my eyes with a sigh, leaning over and laying my head on Fury's shoulder. "Can't say that I'm not surprised," I mutter to him.

His hand comes up almost automatically to pull off my helmet and run his fingers through my hair once more. "I'm hoping there aren't too many embarrassing gifts from your father," he murmurs softly.

I give him a look. "I would worry if he didn't give us anything… risqué," I whisper, my cheeks warming dangerously.

He smirks at me in a promising way that almost makes my knees give out. "Careful, we're sticking with tradition my dearest."

Thor laughs and claps us gently on our backs. "It is good to see you finally together."
