Chapter 5

It hasn't even been a week since Neo had returned to start the yearly prank war, and Ruby was already exhausted from playing peacemaker. Luckily she was most of the time absent for other jobs and appointments, but unfortunately everyone had taken her neutrality as a sign to send her all the word vomit they could over the phone.

The device just would not stop vibrating! Some people already got the wrong idea earlier that week when she just wanted to enjoy a nice coffee with her girlfriend, and her pants continuously buzzed from the notifications!

It was so embarrassing and now Weiss won't stop making lewd jokes about it. What she could gather from the mass of messages Cinder had sent her, is that Reese must have caught on to her love for these Belgian chocolates she allows herself to indulge in once a month, the girl having managed to get her hands on them before Cinder received them, and filled them with super hot tabasco sauce! They all know Cinder spent the majority of the day on the toilet when she eats spicy foods!

Now the weekend was upon them again, and Weiss had invited her to meet some of her friends, who would not stop asking her about her.

Weiss also said to be prepared for some bad puns and attempts to hit on her. Her last message said "Park your bike close, so we can escape quickly if needed" which concerned her about what kind of people the younger girl is surrounding herself with.

Weiss on the other hand made sure that Blake kept Yang on a close leash, Ren maintained control of Nora, and that Jaune did not know of this little get together, since she was worried he would attempt to insult Ruby.

Pyrrha was pretty safe since everyone knows the girl would never do something to disturb their privacy.

"You know you can't hide her forever Weiss..." grumbled Yang, who was currently sat in the corner like a child that just gotten punished for being naughty.

Weiss crosses her arms and huffs "I am not hiding her. For your information we are pretty open about our relationship. I just don't like it when everyone in this school starts asking questions about her due to how famous she is."

Blake who was currently reading on her ebook (fanfiction) just snorts "So in other words, you don't want any competition for her attention and love. Right?"

Weiss gasps dramatically "How dare you! Of course there is no other woman who could match me!"

In the background she could hear someone snort and her glare immediately focuses once again on Yang and Nora, who somehow had materialized next to her "Is there something the two of you would like to tell me?"

Both girls are obviously struggling to keep a straight face "It's just…..you acting like you are the hottest one out there." Nora is the first one to give in, while Yang does her best to keep talking "Don't get me wrong. You are kind of good looking, but you have no boobs! Or an ass!" And with that statement, Yang is also lost to laughter. Weiss, now completely red faced, doesn't even hear the door knock due to her raging anger, her mind preoccupied with thoughts of how to freeze them and cut them into pieces bit by bit for daring to say she is plain looking!

So she doesn't even notice when Pyrrha stands up to answer the door, opening it to reveal a mysterious stranger, dark tinted sunglasses and a basecap pulled down to hide their face. And if that isn't suspicious enough, the form fitting leather jacket, pants and gloves the person is wearing makes Pyrrha wonder how this person could survive the summer heat.

After ushering the mystery person in, and closing the door behind her, said person finally discarded her disguise, and before anyone could say something, swept the ice queen up in a hug.

"Ruby!" Weiss squeals, a bit surprised by her sudden appearance, but also happy to have her girlfriend there at last.

For a moment she forgets that the pair are not alone, and hugs the life out of her lover, grinning like a small child that just got her favorite toy back.

"Ahem" A fake cough coming from the corner occupied by the two ninjas interrupts their little lovey dovey reunion after just a few days.

Weiss of course blushes a bit and let go of the older woman, while Ruby just has a small laugh, thinking how cute Weiss is when she is embarrassed like that. It has been a while since Weiss introduced her to her friends.

Mostly because the girl has a hard time making friends in the first place, so Ruby is relieved her girlfriend is enjoying her youth with some peers.

Looking around Ruby could feel the thick ice in the room. They all just know her as a celebrity and are probably not sure what to say. It's a situation she has faced quite a few times since she has become more known. Deciding on a direct approach, she takes off her hat, shaking out her long hair, before smiling brilliantly at all of them. "Hi! I'm Ruby, Weiss's other half!"

Everyone simply stares at her for a moment, until Yang breaks the silence. "Holy Schneet! Weiss really is dating one of the most gorgeous women in the world!"

Pyrrha smiles as she walks up and offers Ruby her hand. "Pyrrha Nikos, it's a pleasure to meet you in person."

Ruby shakes the offered hand with a grin. "Likewise! Weiss talks about you guys a lot you know." The ice broken, the group of friends quickly gather around and start bombarding the actress with questions, leaving Weiss back in her corner.

Weiss huffs as she glares at them. "Would you all give her some space?!"

Blake just smiles as she moves to stand next to her best friend. "Weiss, did you really expect this not to happen? She is a real life superstar. Even I am a huge fan of her work with Haven!"

Weiss still huffs "I know... We talk often enough about the shows. Still doesn't mean I have to like it..." A little part of her felt satisfied that Yang and Nora both lost this little bet she knows they had going on behind her back.

Questions like "Can you show us some acrobatics? Can you do a triple salto from the stand? And do you know this or that celebrity?" are obviously the most important questions coming from them. Nora even asks if Ruby was able to jump out of the window and not have a scratch!

But the question that interests them all is obvious.

"So how does it feel to be one of the most famous women in the country, and how the heck did Weiss convince you to date her?" asks Yang. Which even though Ruby is smiling, has her eye twitching a bit.

But Ruby will not be outdone, especially if she has a chance to tease Weiss a bit as well. "Well, since you asked so nicely? I have to admit, there was a lot of persistence. And a lot of whining fits!"

"Hey!"

"And in the end, I had to end up kidnapping her, and refused to release her until she agreed to date me. Otherwise, I was going to have to release her back into the Wilds!" Ruby finishes with a flourish.

"That is not at all what happened you dolt, and you know it!" Weiss yells at her.

"Hey, I was the one telling the story! And my version always sounds better!" Ruby shoots back with a wide grin, causing Weiss to groan.

Weiss gives her friends a stern glare "Don't believe what she says. I had to ask her out like a million times before she finally gave in. She just likes to make fun of this story."

Seeing how the conversation kind of turned one sided, and not wanting to reveal too much private information, Ruby flops down on what is obviously Weiss's bed "So tell me, what spell did Weiss use on you guys?"

To everyone's surprise, Ren smiles as he opens his mouth. "Weiss was my tutor in French. It turned out she and I enjoy a mutual love for classic literature."

Nora nods. "Same thing. And I still suck at French, but she got me through."

Yang chuckles as she throws an arm over Blake's shoulders. "She's besties with the kitty cat here, so I just accepted the fact that the Ice Queen is part of the deal!"

Ruby nods, still feeling that the atmosphere was a bit stiff despite them talking animatedly.

"So do you guys have any plans for tonight? Or do you just want to sit around and have uncomfortable small talk?"

Blake is the first one who pulls out her favorite game, which she conveniently always has ready under her bed. "How about we play some Cards Against Humanity? I know no better game to get to know each other."

"Nah! I got a way better game!" Yang declares confidently as she slams a deck of Uno cards down on the table. "This is where the real women are forged!"

Ren fake coughs "And men." He may be a peaceful man, but he won't be denied his manliness!

Weiss on the other hand had once again a different idea "How about some Game of the Life?"

The room fell silent once again, everyone giving Weiss an unreadable look, not sure whether she was serious or not. Blake of course knew her roommate well enough by now, and lightly teased the girl. "Is that to see how many children you and Ruby will have?"

Let it be said the little group of misfits doesn't see THE Weiss Schnee being such a blushing flustering mess can she say? She is still an innocent maiden at heart!

Ruby just shakes her head with a small smile. There she is, the small girl that used to drag her around all over the place… Clasping her hands together, she decides to take charge. Otherwise they will never start with the gaming! And she hadn't destroyed someone else's dream and hopes in a long while!

"So how about we first play Uno to get warmed up before giving Cards Against Humanity a chance? Those are both great games after all!"

After a few moments to consider the suggestion, everyone nodded in agreement with this plan. Well, almost everyone, since Weiss was still pouting about not getting to play her game.

The rest of the evening went actually rather smoothly, compared to what Ruby had initially feared. Of course there was still this ….barrier that existed between her and the rest of the group, but it's something she had grown accustomed to a long time ago. The important thing was that Weiss was having fun...

Which is a rare sight for her friends, from what Ruby can gather. Everytime she laughs or does something cute, this Yang girl and some of the others look at her as if she had grown a second head.

As amusing as this small party is, all good things have to come to an end. And in this case the end comes with an unwelcome visitor.

It was odd how quiet things could get when all of his friends either avoid or ignore him.

Lying on his bed Jaune couldn't help but reflect on the past few days.

Why was everyone so mad? He didn't say anything wrong! Just because he stated the truth, they couldn't blame it on him that they couldn't accept it.

Well now that he thinks about it, he did say it in a pretty harsh way. And obviously he isn't a homophobe, or he wouldn't be able to be friends with Yang and Blake.

But Weiss has shown all the signs of being into boys! What with the looks she gave him, or other boys, or the fact that she had even flirted with him! He couldn't have just imagined this! (He totally did) On the other hand, Weiss did say that she and this Ruby Rose person had met at a pretty early age. And with the age difference it could be that this woman influenced Weiss in thinking she was gay. Yes! That had to be it! Thinking about it everything makes sense now!

But how could he convince Weiss that she deserves a proper man who will love and care for her? That she really was just confused by all these hormones and stuff?

Well it doesn't matter right now. He can still think about it in the coming days, his head is already starting to hurt from all this thinking.

Maybe now that a few days have passed they could have calmed down. It's boring to just lie around in his room and play video games, so he could as well check up on them.

Walking to the other side of the dorm where he knows Weiss's and Blake's room is (He heard from Ren that they were all hanging out there, without inviting him) he could already hear the laughter coming from the room.

"No need to feel hurt Jaune. It's not like they are excluding you on purpose from all the fun. I am sure if I knock and ask they will let me in gladly. They probably just forgot to ask me because they were still mad or something..."

Giving himself a little prep talk and taking a deep breath to shake off these negative thoughts, Jaune did what he intended, and knocked. Though it did take much longer than he expected (he had to knock twice) before someone opened the door, but Pyrrha immediately greeted him with a kind smile like always.

"Hello Jaune!"

Smiling back Jaune felt immediately better seeing the redhead "Hey Pyrrha. What are you guys doing? Maybe I could come in and chill with you."

He didn't notice the nervous tapping of her finger on the door, or the way she was blocking the view of the room "Oh, we… we were just talking about ...about school! Yeah we were just talking about boring school topics and weren't playing any games or something like that. Not at all."

Unfortunately as gorgeous as the girl was, she was an equally horrible liar.

"Sooo, does this mean I can come in? I have plenty of stories to tell you guys of how boring some of my classes are."

How could she ever say no to this innocent smile of him? They were friends, and it just felt wrong to not include him in their group activities..

With a deep sigh, knowing that the others wouldn't be as welcoming, she let him in.

"Thanks Pyr!" walking right past her he walked in, looking for Weiss, planning to sit next to her, he at first didn't notice the new person in the room who was just entering the bathroom.

Giving Weiss his brightest smile, despite her not looking at him and still talking to Blake he thanked his lucky stars for there being an empty place next to her.

Plopping down, and startling the poor girl with the sudden motion, he looked around in the room. Noticing the black and white cards on the floor he couldn't help but give a fake chuckle "You must have gotten bored by talking about boring things…."

The room was awkwardly silent for a moment, only disrupted by the sound of the toilet flushing in the background.

A moment passed and Yang was the first one to say something "Hey Jauney boy! Didn't expect to see you here today."

Relieved that his friends indeed have calmed down, he leaned back on his hands "Well I was bored, and Ren mentioned that you guys were hanging out here, so I decided to swing by. If that's okay with you guys..." He was looking at everyone while speaking. "I am no idiot, and I know that after our last group outing, things have been... not so good between us. I was hoping to apologize for offending you guys. I didn't mean to sound so homophobic."

Crossing her arms and glaring at him, Weiss was obviously still mad "If you aren't homophobic, why did you claim it was 'unnatural' to love another woman, and that I was "confused"? Don't think I have already forgotten your insults Arc!"

Gulping nervously again, he knew if he said one wrong thing again, he would lose some of his best friends. "Yes I said that, and I still think all of these things...but I have realized… that I have no right to tell you what to feel or not. Despite my opinion of the matter, you are still my friends, and I hope you can accept my apology"

All eyes were on Weiss, since depending on what she said, this would end well or very bad. For him.

Still glaring with these icy pools she calls eyes, Weiss raised one of her perfectly shaped brows. "Was that a statement or a question?" Without waiting for a response from the blonde she groans before saying "I accept this apology, but don't think I will forget about this."

And with this the whole group exploded in chatter again, everyone relieved that the tension was finally gone.

"Oh and Jaune, this place is already taken. So you will have to find another place to sit."

Weiss points out in a still not happy about him being there tone, but this just served to confuse him.

"What do you mean, this seat is taken? Everyone is already sitting somewhere."

And right on cue the door of the bathroom opens, and the woman he really didn't want to ever see again stepped out.

And of course Ruby Rose had to look amazing even when she returns from peeing!
