Jamie's Shock of a Lifetime

Last Time:

Jamie motioned for Eddie to bring baby Josephine to him. While Josephine was switching between Eddie and Jamie's arms, he introduced his daughter to some of the most important people in his life. "Dad, Grandpa, Erin, Danny, this is Josephine Marie Reagan. My daughter."

Every Reagan in the room turned to Jamie with wide eyes and dropped jaws, not believing what they were seeing in front of them or what they were hearing.

Chapter Three:

With disbelieving eyes, Frank looked to his son, "I have another granddaughter?"

Nodding his head, "Yeah dad. You do. Do you want to hold her?"

Frank reached his arms out to take Josephine from her father. While handing his daughter to his father, Jamie began to tell the story of how he found out about Josephine.

"We were at the precinct when Dana came in, carrying Josephine in her carrier. She asked to speak with me privately, but I asked Eddie to stay since we had plans after tour. But those plans didn't happen obviously. Instead, Dana hands me Josephine in her carrier, tells me her name, hands me some legal documents and left."

Henry was watching Frank with his newest grandchild. "Did Dana say why she chose the name Josephine? Because it sounds an awful lot like…"

"Joe, yeah grandpa. She did mention that Josephine was named after Joe, knew that that would be something that I would want. Dana called her Jo a few times while she was with us, and she seems to respond to it pretty well so far. I'm just going to have to decide which name to mainly use, ya know?"

Henry nodded to his grandson in understanding. While he was not thrilled about the circumstances that Josephine came to be a member of the Reagan family, he was glad that the Reagan's could add another chair to the dinner table. Okay, well a highchair for now, but a regular chair in a few years. Maybe two chairs… Henry thought to himself.

Danny cleared his throat, itching for his turn to speak. "So, uh, Eddie. What's your role in all of this?"

Jamie nodded at Eddie, giving her silent permission to tell his family whatever she felt most comfortable with.

"Well, I'm Jamie's partner. I'm always going to be there for him which by extension means Josephine. I'll be there for Jamie and Josephine, whether they want me to or not. They're stuck with me now," Eddie gave Jamie a nice smirk and he smirked right back.

Danny and Erin shared a look with each other. They knew that they needed to do something with the two partners. They are way closer than any other pair of partners than anyone has seen before. Somehow, someway, the two older siblings were going to get their little brother to admit what he felt – which was not something that has been an easy task since Joe.

Henry was holding Josephine, or "Jo" as most of the family kept referring to her as. She was surely the center of attention tonight. A little bit later on in the evening, Frank asked Jamie to join him in his office.

"So Jamie," Frank started, "I was thinking, that it would be a good idea for you and Josephine to move in with Pop and I for a while. Just-" Frank held up one of his big paw-for-hands, stopping Jamie from interrupting him. "-until you and Josephine get into a rhythm, a schedule. You're new at this parenting thing, and you don't have her mother to help you out. Besides, Pop and I would love for the two of you to be here!"

Jamie shook his head with appreciation. "Dad, I really appreciate it. I do. But for right now I think Josephine and I will be just fine at my apartment. Besides, Eddie lives just a few blocks over if we need her."

"What about daycare? Pop has offered to take care of her while you're on patrol," Frank countered.

Man, he is pushing this real hard, Jamie thought. "I'm taking some paternity leave to help Jo settle in, establish routine, and get to know each other."

Sighing in temporary defeat, "Alright. We can talk about who will watch Josephine when you return to work after Sunday Dinner," Frank conceded.

Jamie gave his father a smile and a, "thank you" as he turned to head back to his family. His family, he thought, Josephine, Eddie and I. That is something that I might like one day… Jamie came back into the living room with a smile on his face.
