Story update as it was apparent some folks were less then pleased that I posted an omake chapter when I listed as such in the first place. Well cause I didn't got a real chapter ready and needed to show the story wasn't dead…

Well here's the next chapter!

01:02 PM Hours, April 6th, 2018 (UNSC – 2536)

Alnus Base

"Oh gosh, it's been a long time I've ate real meat other than soy-substitute." Alexa Turpin moaned as she savoured the taste the meat. The light-skinned blonde with dark blue eyes was out of her ODST armor and in her combat uniform, enjoying R&R time at the surface of the world Fantasia, as the UNSC designated the planet as.

Zinah Quinn nodded in agreement as the ODST of Asian-descent enjoyed the plate of sushi she was having for lunch. "Amen to that Turps, at least we're taking a break from the MREs with something actually delicious." She then swallowed a salmon egg sushi and closed her eyes with approval. "Ahh that hits the spot."

The two female ODSTs were at the mess hall of Alnus base where they and few dozens of other UNSC personnel of TF Rei were taking a break there. Most of them were at the mess hall dining on fresh meals straight from Earth after months and years of eating military food aboard the ship or on the field, and interacting with the 21st century members of Task Force Rei – now including US military personals and other nationalities of UN member states in the future – to increase the understanding and cooperation between the two factions. There were chinks and other gaps that needed to be lessened in order for Task Force Rei to work flawlessly.

The interactions saw the 21st century personnel highly curious of the 26th century, asking various questions that weren't edging on classified information, and also expressing their reaction to the web packages the UNSC released to the public. While the UNSC were somewhat curious of 21st century Earth, mostly from those who weren't born at Sol system or had little knowledge of the time period.

"Can't believe they made Twilight into some shonuen anime crap, I mean who the heck thought it would end up in that format and be actually good!" One of the US marines exclaimed.

"Was it that bad beforehand?" A UNSC army trooper asked. "All I know that it took stuff from a book series in public domain and revamped it to become a popular series – which I really love – all over human space."

"Unbelievable, but public domain huh. Wonder what kind of weird ass crap I'm going to end up seeing." The marine muttered.

Then a JASDF pilot leaned in and whispered. "Apparently there's a Game of Thrones show but directed as a harem comedy."

"What."

"That was my reaction too. Also, you should see some of the new movies and series they released. Knight Lights, Romeo and Juliet: Return of the Night King, Gundam Effect: Saren's Counterattack, RWBY: Tales of BRIM, Godzilla vs the World series, Bionice 2222, and John Wick: Universal Assassin. They're all freakin sweet!"

Shaking his head in disbelief and muttering something about binge watching for the rest of his life. "Speaking of which, how does Game of Throne ends?" The same marine asked again.

"Which one?" Quinn entered the conversation.

"What do you think genius." Turpin rolled her eyes at the question.

"Oh, the 21st century one. Forgot about that considering how many remakes, reboots, spin-offs, copy-cats, and similar series that came because of it. And on the ending… That's classified, I'm not going to be that spoiling asshole." Quinn answered. "Though I wouldn't put it too far for some jackass to spoil it to ruin an entire world's fun."

Meanwhile at the area around the gate building, various vehicles of either the UN task force – colored in standard white – or military vehicles of different Earth province-nations were pouring out of the gate to Alnus base. It appears that Captain Cutter finally got the UN to intervene in the situation, desiring a familiar presence and wanting international assistance in this world rather than working with a single nation. Though there were some obstructions from the Japanese government regarding an international group setting foot on Japan and entering Fantasia, but pressure from the international community and the UNSC Spirit of Fire made them relent.

The majority of the new military and civilian arrivals were to become part of Task Force Rei, which has expanded from a simple joint-task force of rescuing enslaved Earth citizens to a permanent task force jointly run between the UNSC and the UN member states. Whose additional roles now includes studying the various mysteries of Falmart, uplifting 21st century tech in a controlled manner, deciding which UNSC technology to release to the public, and along with general peacekeeping duties.

While in the matter of the Japanese-Empire war, Japan was planning out potential peace talks with the Senate and the Empire through Princess Pina, hoping to end the situation with little bloodshed as possible. All the while making sure their kidnapped citizens were well accounted and brought back alive. The red-haired princess was in hot potato over the issue of Japanese slaves. The UNSC also gave a statement of not taking any part in the war between Japan and the Empire, but affirmed that it would continue to carry out peacekeeping duties. The heavy losses the Empire and its vassal kingdoms suffered diminished their ability to protect their borders or provide order in the country side. Reports of Ratkins, Centaurs, and all sorts of creatures and raiders were roaming the country side of Elbe and other kingdoms were coming in.

And observing the entire scene was Major Fredick Vaughan in his combat uniform recently assigned to Task Force Rei as the lead commander of Alpha unit. His current assignment with accompanying Sorceress Irisia was folded into the task force along with his squad and Boomerang company. And if the rumours were truth, he could end up commanding or working alongside 21st century forces, something he wasn't fully sure about but orders were orders.

However, it would give him plenty of support and additional options in his current long-term assignment of working alongside the sorceress in helping out with whatever she and Professor Anders needed to help with their work. Oh, and being the unlucky or lucky SOBs to test out the new 'magic'-enhanced weapon variants. The engineers were ripping their hair out trying to figure out how they worked and coming up with many potential creative ideas concerning certain weapons and vehicles.

The most popular one being what would when you combine a nuke or MAC round with mana?

"Are you major Vaughan?"

The ODST major turned around to see a familiar JSDF lieutenant standing behind him, who honestly looked like he belonged to a desk job at a base.

Guess the rumours were truthful after all.

"Yes, I am, Major Vaughan of Boomerang Company, 9th Shock Troops Battalion." The lieutenant did look somewhat familiar to him. Then Vaughan remembered where he met this lieutenant. "I remember you at Italica."

"Lieutenant Itami Youji of 3rd recon team. Yes, I was at Italica. Nice meeting you again, major. I've been given orders that my team is to be assigned to your unit." Itami said as he handed Vaughan some papers authenticating the order.

Satisfied with the paper Vaughan looked at Itami again. "Welcome to Alpha unit lieutenant. Hope you're ready to work with ODSTs, they ain't your average UNSC marines or any special forces you've worked with so far."

"Anything else I need to be aware of?" Vaughan asked the lieutenant.

"Uhh, besides my team, command is also assigning several units that recently arrived at the base to your command." Itami answered. "US, British, French, Korean, Russian, Chinese military units. That's the only thing I know so far."

Vaughan had a feeling he was going to get some headaches in the future with the mixture of the provincial military units. Now he might not be the most knowledgeable guy of early 21st century Earth history, but he could recall from his old basic civic and history courses mentioning that time period to be rather… interesting with the current socio-political environment.

Gunnery Sergeant Henry Sackman of the US marine corps jumped out of the truck he and his squad were riding on, as did countless other marines disembarking from their trucks and humvees. The veteran marine of twelve years who served in Afghanistan felt relieved that his current deployment was at a more peaceful setting.

Less people shooting at him with AKs and RPGs, and more focusing on peacekeeping crap and so on. Oh, and exploring a fantasy world along with its fantastical inhabitants right out of a fantasy setting. Along with working with a future alternate dimension space UN military.

While he was making his way towards the newly expanded barracks recently setup to house all the new and future arrivals, he then heard a rumbling sound not too far away from where he was which drew his attention to awesome sight.

A group of UNSC armoured vehicles were moving around the base, their presence making their 21st century counterpart look like kittens to the tigers they were. He saw two of the UNSC's quad-tracked MBTs called Scorpions passing by a pair of parked M1A2 tanks, their overall profile marginally larger and intimidating even with the little odd design. Though he knew better to question said 26th century tank when some basic simulations from the UNSC showed a platoon of M808 Scorpions chewing through a battalion of the latest M1 Abrams with little effort while laughing off any attack made against it.

It was like pitting a WW1 tank against a BMP-3 IFV except the BMP-3 was only using its autocannon because the cannon was overkill.

Off course the Scorpions was the opening starter meal before the main course as Sackman watched in awe at the M850 Grizzly following behind the Scorpion. The massive tank with double-barrel 120mm cannons and quad-track design was an awe-inspiring sight, it gave off an aura of invincibility and power. Its appearance reminded him of the Mammoth tank from the Command and Conquer franchise, a house-sized mass of 'f*#k you'; a statement he felt was right for the Grizzly tank as its heavily-armoured appearance suggested it would take an at least few tank battalions or barrage from an artillery battery to destroy it.

Then there was the other tank-like vehicle last in line that had six wheels and a double-barrel weapon, though its gun design seems to be more resembling a railgun or similar. Overall, it resembled a tank destroyer of some sort with the wheel and turret design. He wondered if he would get to see this unknown vehicle in action in the near future.

"I can smell the envy from our tankers right now." Sackman turned to see his friend, staff sergeant Simon Williams remark on the sight. "Hope we get some in-depth look to these sweet babies the UNSC has. Some of our boys here and some geeks online initially laughed at them, but after a simulation prep and an armor demonstration along with target practicing shut them up cold."

"We'll have plenty of time working alongside UNSC hardware and weapons. I'm more interested in seeing their marines in actions, especially the ODSTs I've heard about." Sackman eyed at the UNSC marines he saw nearby decked in heavy armor that made theirs look like papier-mâché.

"ODSTs? Huh, from what I've heard they're supposed to be space navy SEALs but more hardcore and badass." Williams whistled at the thought.

"Don't let them hear you say that else their feelings are going to get hurt." Sackman chuckled. "Though I think that giant robot armor thingy might be the real deal."

"Oh yeah, forgot about the starship trooper folks, though if you ask me, they resemble the TROJAN super soldiers from Icon."

"The what again?"

"Really, one of the best FPS series to come out and helped define key features everything about the genre!?"

"Sorry, not everybody plays video games religiously, Williams." Sackman shot back at the bewildered Williams. "But I get your point of them being super soldiers and all that jazz. We'll probably see them kicking all sorts of ass or flipping tanks around."

Then a roaring noise of a large engine thundered across the base as both marines and hundreds of others looked above to see what could be described as a building with four engine pods descending down towards the base, carrying what appears to be a large prefabricated building module.

Everybody looked at the large spacecraft descending further down to an unknown area of the base until it landed and dropped its package with a thud. Eyes were still glued to the massive dropship ascending once more to the sky and shot towards it as it soon became an unidentifiable blip.

"That's not something you see every day." Sackman slack-jawed in awe.

"You should've seen the leaked video of their big spaceship arriving in atmosphere. Now that's what you call arriving in style."
