It was a typical Saturday afternoon in the Heights Alliance Dorms with the students of 1-A using the common area to de-stress after another long week of hero training. Tenya Iida and Momo Yaoyorozu were at one of the tables helping Minoru Mineta, Koji Koda, and Mashirao Ojiro go over material they hadn't understood in class. Rikido Sato was using the kitchen to make a variety of cookies while telling off Hanata Sero for trying to steal the dough. Mina Ashido, Ochaco Uraraka, Tooru Hagakure, and Tsuyu Asui were sitting on the couches catching on a drama that had been popular lately. Overall it was a fairly peaceful afternoon for the heroes in training.

That is until Mina broke the peace with a frustrated shout. "I've had it! I thought this drama would help but it's not I want some gossip! I'm practically starving for some back in middle school it seemed like a new couple sprung up each week how can that possibly stop now that i'm in high school!"

"Ashido I demand you stop that yelling, we are studying over here!" Iida replied pointedly ignoring Momo telling him he too was yelling. "Besides we are hero students things like gossip are not something we should indulge in."

Mina was having none of that though "Quiet you old stick in the mud I may be a hero in training but I'm still a girl, I want to hear about who has a crush on who or who is dating who. C'mon someone has to know something I'll take anything."

Mineta turned in his chair to face her "well I have some good dirt on…" Mina was quick to cut him off though "No no no I do NOT want to hear about some gravure idol you read about."

"Oh so I guess you don't want the scoop I got on Midoriya the other day." The way everyone's heads snapped to him freaked Mineta out but not as much as when Mina climbed over the back of the couch grabbed him with both her hands and tried to shake the answers out of him. "D-damn i-it Ashido s-stop s-shaking m-me."

She immediately dropped him and gave him room to breath "Geez Ashido you'd think this is personal for you or something." Mineta took a second to brush himself off before telling them what he saw and heard. "So I was in the support department the other day to see if I could get a gun or something to launch my pop off better when I saw Midoriya talking with that crazy girl that turned Iida into a billboard during the sports festival. As I was leaving I saw her lead him to a corner of the lab outside of Powerloader's line of sight and knowing how crazy her inventions can be I decided to be a good friend to Midoriya and make sure she didn't hurt the guy."

Mineta slowly made his way over to where he saw Hatsume drag Midoriya and had to cover his mouth to stop the perverted giggle that he nearly let out at what he heard.

'Ain't these babies soft Midoriya bet they feel good in your hands.'

'They feel amazing Hatsume and so warm.'

'Heh I knew you'd like them now get over here I got something even better for you to see.'

"Now being a good friend I wasn't about to cock block Midoriya so I got the hell out of there." With a satisfied smile Mineta ended his story and looked around at the reactions of his classmates. Almost all of them had disbelieving looks and Uraraka was glaring at him so hard he actually feared for his life a little. "What, do none of you believe me?"

Iida was the one to respond to the question. "Of course we don't, I highly doubt Midoriya would do such a thing first of all, and secondly Hatsume refers to all her inventions as her 'babies' so you clearly misunderstood what happened." The gathered group all nodded at the logic behind the statement and Mineta deflated with the hole punched into his story.

"Uhm I agree with Iida but uhm I don't think Mineta is that far off though." Koda's quiet voice brought the attention on him and he shrunk as he realized all eyes were on him. Momo gave him a soft tap on the shoulder to calm him and encouraged him to explain. "Well I was in the forest the other day getting to know the animals when I came across Midoriya and Hatsume as well, I was too far to hear the whole conversation, but in hindsight what I did hear was kind of in line with what Mineta was talking about."

Hiding behind a tree Koda saw his classmate in the distance talking with the girl he had worked with in the sport festival he didn't mean to spy on them but they were just close enough that part of their conversation carried over to him.

'Midoriya...would find you...out here'

'Hatsume you surprised me...so dirty'

'Like..one to talk...covered in sweat..wanted to find...sleep'

'Fair enough...both shower...then bed.'

"I then got out of there because I realized I was being rude, but the birds told me they see Midoriya and Hatsume together quite often." Koda's story planted a bit of doubt in everyone's minds as there was no real explanation they could think of to write his story like Iida did Mineta's.

Sero was the first to speak up. "Wow so maybe the two of them really do have something going on and Midoriya is a pretty smooth operator."

A blushing Mina was next to compose herself. "Wow this turned a little more mature than I expected but it is pretty much what I wanted...Midoriya and Hatsume hmm you know what I can see them being a cute couple."

A few of the others nodded in agreement but Uraraka hastily interjected. "Hold up now this is pretty flimsy evidence to suggest that Deku is going out Hatsume. No offense Koda but you did only hear a third of what they said and Mineta filled in the blanks with what he wanted Deku to be doing."

"Ochako has a point, ribbit, when you think a little neither of those stories have enough context to imply them going out unless we assume that they must being going out already." Tsuyu said agreeing with Uraraka and providing a little peace of mind for her friend.

"What's got everyone in such a huff? I could hear you all from the front door." Shoto Todoroki was fairly confused when he walked into the common room and saw a group of his classmates huddled around each other.

It was Momo that answered his question. "Ah Todoroki, well we were discussion how it appears Midoriya and Hatsume from the support department may be a couple but we don't really have any evidence to suggest they are."

"Midoriya and Hatsume...hmm that explains the phone call he got earlier." Hearing what they were doing made Todoroki recall something he heard as he was leaving to visit his mother. The others urged him to explain.

'Hey Hatsume what do you need?...Oh ok yeah I can do that, do you want to meet at the gates?..When?...Sure I'll let you know when I get back from my training.'

Silence met Todoroki after he finished telling them what he had overheard until Tooru let out a sigh and said what they were all thinking "That sounds to me like Midoriya set up a date with Hatsume."

"Alright this is getting us nowhere we're just going to have ask Midoriya when he gets back to make sense of all this." was Iida's attempt to bring order to the growing confusion over if his friend was going out with the crazed inventor.

"Great idea I'll be right back I gotta get some stuff so we can interrogate Midoriya when he gets back from his workout." As she was saying this Mina was already running to the elevator despite Iida's complaints that they were not going to interrogate Midoriya.

Izuku Midoriya was tired, every little bone in his hands were sore, but he still had a couple things he needed do before he could rest for a bit. One of those things was to send a quick text to inform Hatsume that he had gotten back from his training session like he had promised. Izuku had just put his phone back into his pocket when he noticed that a number of his classmates were surrounding one of the tables in the common room. Curiosity peaked he decided to see what they were doing. "Hey everyone whats going on, why are you all standing around a desk lamp…and why is Ashido wearing her 'serious suit' again?"

Before anyone could answer him though Mina had turned the desk lamp on right into eyes blinding him. Izuku then felt someone push a chair into the back of his legs causing him to fall into the seat. As his sight returned he saw Ojiro and Sero standing at his side both with apologetic faces. Sero was the first to speak to Izuku "Sorry about this Midoriya but you know how Ashido is once she gets an idea she follows through, just play along and this should be over fast." That did nothing to ease the dread that had begun to fill Izuku.

Once again the light was in his eyes as Mina finally decided to speak. "Alright cut the shit Midoriya where were you on the night in question?" When silence met her question she slammed her hands on the table and changed her question. "We know you know who did it if you give us what we want to know officer Ojiro won't have to play bad cop to get the answers!"

Izuku had never been as confused as he was in this moment, what was Ashido talking about, why would Ojiro be the bad cop when she was already badgering him, why were they asking about where he was, and most importantly what was going on? Thankfully Tsuyu had his back. "Uh Mina look at him he has no idea what going on right now maybe you should explain why we're interrogating him first."

Mina stuck her tongue out at the frog girl but decided to head the advice and drop her act. "Sorry about that Midoriya, but well we were talking about gossip and the topic of you and Hatsume came up so we kind of wanted to know what was going on between you two and I kinda got too into the interrogation part, my bad."

Izuku sputtered and coughed when he heard why they had decided to interrogate him "Wha-what do you m-mean? H-how did that c-come up?"

Mineta and Koda took turns telling Izuku what they had each heard and Izuku couldn't help but blush at the conclusions they had come too. Mineta being who he was though took Izuku's blush to mean they might be right and decided to ask the one question he had. "So Midoriya are the two of you doing it?"

Sighing at the smaller boys one track mind Sero decided to just wrap the boy up in tape so they could get to the bottom of this before Izuku could die from the embarrassment.

Redder than a tomato Izuku practically screamed out that was not at all what they were doing. He took a moment to calm himself and then told the group the truth behind the two events. "Y-y-you guys got it all wrong Ha-atsume and I aren't doing it." Another breath to stop his nervous stutter. "You guy remember how she refers to her inventions as babies right? She was just showing me this gel she made that warms and relaxes muscles, she wanted to see if it would help take the pressure off when I use my quirk.

"As for Koda's story Hatsume has the bad habit of ignoring everything when she has orders to fill even sleeping and bathing and she had just filled a large order for some of the upperclassmen. She had soot, grease, and oil caked on her but she wanted to give me a support item I asked for. Since I had just finished working out I told her we should clean up then we could go over the item before she went to bed. Nothing like you all thought happened is going on." Finally getting the context for what was going on had felt like a weight was lifted off of the group and they all went up to Izuku apologizing for making such off base assumptions about him.

Todoroki feeling responsible since it was his final story that had spurned on the interrogation in the end decided to clear the air with his friend. "Sorry about what happened Midoriya they had already heard Mineta and Koda's stories but when I told them about a conversation I heard you have on the phone with Hatsume it sounded like you two had a date planned and then Ashido rolled with this whole thing."

Izuku saw this as his chance to let his friends know something he had wanted to tell them for a while now. "Ah well we are going out on a date actually." You could hear a pin drop that followed revelation. "We just haven't done that yet but I've been seeing Hatsume for a while now to be honest." Checking his phone real quick he noticed the time and began to panic. "Oh no if I don't hop in the shower now I'm gonna be late, that call you heard Todoroki was me promising to take Hatsume out for lunch today...so I'll see you guys later." Izuku then rushed to the elevator so he could grab a change of clothes then take a much needed shower before his date.

Everyone stood in shocked silence that despite their huge misunderstanding about the incidents in question but they ended up being right in that Izuku Midoriya was in fact dating Mei Hatsume, no one dared say anything. That is until much like the outburst that started this whole thing Mina just couldn't restrain herself anymore. "Wait a damn minute Midoriya I want details! Get back here and tell me how you two got together!" She then made chase after him hoping to corner him before he made it to his room.

Mei Hatsume was fiddling with the remote for one of her babies while she waited for Izuku she was early and figured he would be a little late so she felt there was time to kill. This particular baby was actually a favorite because thanks to it malfunctioning she had gotten closer to the green haired boy that would later become her boyfriend. She stopped her adjustments to think about the fact she actually had a boyfriend. Romance to her wasn't the mystery of love but rather the mystery of her next idea and the joy of building her next baby. Mei was aware that most people couldn't handle her eccentric behaviours and most wouldn't be able to keep up with her. Also she was no fool, she knew that some people were more interested in her body than anything else she could offer. With all that in mind Mei had decided that she'd focus solely on her babies while at U.A and leave stuff like dating for later in life, that is until one of her babies lost control and smashed right into the head of Izuku Midoriya knocking him out.

Out of courtesy she had decided to wait in Recovery Girl's office until he woke up so she could apologize. He had woken up while she was trying to fix her baby and ranting to herself about it malfunctioning in the first place. So caught up in her own world when he suggested a possible fix it caught her so off guard she ended up breaking the component she had been trying to fix. While they were both exchanging sorries, to make up for surprising her he offered to help her rebuild and fix her drone that had struck him. She had said yes mostly to humor him, she hadn't expected his to be able to keep up with her genius.

Mei had been proven right when he struggled to keep up with her explanations but what she liked was that he would ask her questions to figure out how he could help and understand her blueprints, she had underestimated his intelligence and his persistence was equal to her own. His understanding of how quirks could be used proved invaluable when she got a slew of new support item orders, his insight helped her think up lots of new and interesting babies. While she could tell he was intimidated by how little she cared about personal space and how intense she could be when it came to her babies he never once shied away and if anything got more supportive when she was in her 'inventing moods' as he started calling them. Mei laughed to herself when she saw first hand when Izuku went into his mumble mode as he tried to figure out something and while it was undeniably creepy she found it charming as it was so similar to her own eccenteries.

She had surprised herself when out of she had taken the initiative and asked him out after a brainstorming session. Her favorite memory was the first time she had made one of her ideas work in real life but the smile Izuku gave her as he said yes would forever be a close second. Because of their respective schedules dates had been confined to U.A's campus but she enjoyed just hanging out with him. Today was actually only the second time they'd left campus for a date and she was excited even if it was only a late lunch and some window shopping.

Mei shook herself from her memories when she saw Izuku running up to her, checking her watch she saw he was late but not late enough to justify him running as fast as he can without his quirk. When he turned his head back to see behind him she saw what he was running from, the pink skinned acid girl from his class was hot on his heels. As Izuku made it to her rather than stop and explain what was going on he just grabbed her and told her to hang on. "Ashido I'm sorry but I'll answer all your questions later Mei and I have a date to get to." Without letting the girl reply he let a little bit of his quirk surround his body and ran out the gates before Mina could begin a second interrogation

Laughing at the absurdity that seemed to follow her boyfriend she let him know that Ashido had not followed them so he could relax. "So Midoriya why on earth was your classmate chasing after you?"

Once Izuku caught his breath he answered his girlfriend. "Well it's actually a funny story I think you'll enjoy it but I'll let you know over lunch. Although I'll tell you now that my friends kind of figured out we're going out so if you want we can hang out in my dorm after we finish lunch if you want."

"Wow Midoriya you work fast, we haven't even started our date yet and you're already inviting me back you your place, how bold." She let him fumble over his words for a minute before wrapping her arms around one of his. "Enough impersonating a fish Midoriya how about we get this date going I'm starving." Izuku snapped his mouth shut and led Mei to one of his favorite little diners.

The most recent chapter inspired me after seeing how into her work Mei could be and how easy it is to misunderstand a conversation when you only hear parts of it.
