A/N: So it has been a pretty long time since I had written for this fandom... I suddenly got a perfect idea for this couple and well... here it is. I hope you all enjoy!

The First Date

When Raven had finally agreed to go out with him, it was the best day ever for Beast Boy. Never had he actually thought that she would agree, especially since she acted like she nearly hated him all of the time.

It had been a month now since she had made him the happiest guy in the world but even after all this time, he felt like they were still stuck in the pattern of being friends. Sure Raven never really dated outside of their relationship but she should have at least somewhat of a clue, right? They kissed every now and then but was he wrong to want more? It was nice that she sat closer to him on the couch when he played video games, she even let him in her room twice.

He was just so eager to show her how much love he had to give, he just wished she would be willing to allow him to do so. He wanted to hold her hand and whisper sweet nothings into her ear, but he knew that would just earn him a slap to the back of his head. He just wanted something to happen in their relationship, but he was nowhere near willing to give up on them. He would continue to try.

Currently, they held the living room to themselves, being that the other Titans had already headed to their rooms for bed. It was getting late but they were a little preoccupied to sleep just yet. He had an angry expression on his face as he smashed the buttons on his controller. Raven sat next to him with a book in her hands. He was losing in this game he had bought and after losing to the same guy multiple times, he was ready to throw the controller out of the tower. He tried pressing in combos to dominate the villain but nothing changed. Now he had lost all composure and was hitting every button that he could in hopes that something would change. It was when the 'YOU'RE DEAD' screen filled TV, he knew he couldn't take anymore. Falling back into the couch, he let out an exaggerated sigh.

Raven had taken a pause in her book, glancing over to the side. "Lose again?" She questioned but already knew the answer from the look of defeat on her boyfriend's face. She turned back to her book and flipped to the next page, "You know, you could always ask Cyborg for help. I'm sure he could help you beat the bad guy. Maybe you should lower the difficulty?" She suggested with a small shrug.

He felt his cheeks grow hot, was she seeing him as someone weak? He didn't need someone to beat the game for him, he could do it all by himself! Lowering the difficulty? What a joke! He was a man! He would not do such a thing. Grabbing the controller once more, he started up the mission once more. As long as he kept a calm mind and a composed form, he had no reason to lose. That was why he continued to lose before, he was simply getting so angry over nothing. Forming a smile, he worked to push the buttons in the combos he had burned in his memory.

The screen went black, 'YOU'RE DEAD' popped back onto the screen. The controller went hurling towards the screen before being stopped only a few inches away from the TV. Being coated within a black aura, it was soon set back down on the table in front of them. His arms crossed over his chest as he looked away angrily, Raven continued reading her book.

Maybe he should just head to bed, it wasn't like he was going to get anywhere with the game. Plus Raven... It looked like she planned on sitting out here until he decided to hit the sack. He couldn't tell if she was tired, her face was pretty expressionless.

"You're staring," She pointed out as she looked to the side once more. Closing the book, she set it down on her lap. "What's on your mind?" She asked with a raised brow.

He blushed lightly from being caught, pulling a grin, he rubbed the back of his neck. "Not much really, thanks for saving the TV. Guess I let my anger get to me." He explained before leaning back, "Just can't believe I'm struggling so much with it."

She stared at him unblinkingly, "I just didn't want to hear Robin and Cyborg yelling about the TV being broke again. Saving myself from a future headache, that was all." She explained nonchalantly.

He found his smile slipping off his face before he turned to the TV, turning off the game, he let out a small sigh. "Rae... Can I ask you something?" Glancing over, he noticed she was just staring his way. He swallowed hard and readjusted in his seat. "I just want to know if you're happy. I mean, with us and all." What he got was silence, just what he had expected. He loved her so much but he wasn't sure if she agreed to date him because she actually felt similar or if it was because she was tired of him constantly asking her. Looking over, his brows rose.

Raven sat there, looking downwards. Her fingers were playing with a loose strand of hair, rolling the purple lock back and forth. Her pale cheeks actually let off a small amount of color. She didn't look his way, however. "If I wasn't, do you think I'd be putting up with you as much as I do? She asked softly.

He found himself smiling once more, this was a new look to her and he liked it. Maybe this is the chance that he needed, the one to get closer to her. They never really talk about their relationship like this. He had to take it while he could! "Good... I just wanted to make sure. By the way, do you have any plans tomorrow? I thought maybe we could... do something? Just the two of us?" He asked shyly, his words becoming weaker as each came out of his mouth.

She finally looked his way, her brows knitted together? "All alone with you for countless hours? I don't know if I'll survive." His face fell, knowing that he would already get shot down. She stood from her seat and grabbed her book, "I suppose I should be able to put up with you that long. I should get a full amount of sleep so I'm prepared."

He gawked at her, surprised to hear the words come out of her mouth. She...agreed? "R-Right. I'll see you in the morning then?" He asked, wanting to make sure this was actually happening. How cruel it would be if his ears had misheard.

She gave him a nod, "Goodnight Beast Boy." She didn't say much more before leaving him alone on the couch.

But he didn't care that he was all alone because, after a whole month, they were going to go on a date. They were finally going to act like a normal couple! He was pretty stoked. But now... he needed to figure out what it was that they would do. He wanted to impress her, he wanted to make sure she enjoyed herself. Even if he could get one smile out of her, he knew he had succeeded. Excitement filled him and he jumped up from his spot on the couch. He needed to start planning right away and then get some sleep himself. It wouldn't be good if he was all exhausted and dragging them down all day. Grinning to himself, he made his way out of the living room before heading to his own quarters.

When the sun rose, he was the first to wake up. Making a fresh cup of coffee was the first thing on his agenda, he knew he would need the caffeine for the upcoming events. It had taken two hours of research on the internet before he finally felt confident enough to take her out on the best date ever. He had a whole day worth planned for her, he just hoped she would be able to handle it.

He made breakfast next, his famous tofu bacon and eggs. It was soon that the other titans entered the kitchen, one at a time. Cyborg was thankful for the pot of coffee as well, taking a large cup with him to the table. While he cooked, he noticed the only Titan that hadn't shown up yet was Raven. Had she decided to sleep in? That wasn't in the plans, he would have to wake her up!

"Beast Boy, you seem in a pretty good mood." Pointed out Robin as he flipped through today's newspaper. "Something going on?"

He couldn't hide his wide grin as he moved around the food in the pan, "I don't know what you're talking about. I'm always like this in the mornings." He explained with a small hum.

Cyborg snorted, "Dude, you are usually the last one of us awake. Don't try to fool us, whats up?" He asked, staring at the other.

He found himself giggling to himself, "Raven and I are going to be unavailable for the day because we have a date." Saying it out loud like this just made him even more pumped. "So maybe I am a little excited."

He received multiple surprised looks and hummed to himself as he plated the food. He made it with so much love that he was sure they would be overwhelmed by it. "I'm going to go grab her, enjoy the breakfast." He nearly skipped to her room, he knocked multiple times but received no answer. "Raven... you awake? I made food!" He called as he continued knocking. If anything, she would get annoyed and come out to make him stop.

It was when his knuckles began to hurt that the door finally slid open. Raven stood there, a calm look on her face. The only thing that looked different was the fact that she was not wearing her normal outfit. "How do I look?" She asked if almost uncaring. "I don't own many clothes, if I had known we would be going out, I would have prepared better." She explained with a small shrug.

He couldn't take his eyes off of her, "Beautiful..." Realizing he was almost drooling, he cleared his throat, "You look pretty nice, it's weird seeing you like this." He paused, "Good weird." He noticed the smallest of smiles on her lips but it had disappeared as soon as it appeared. "Breakfast... We should probably eat before we leave." He explained, his hand going to rub the back of his neck. It was a bad habit that he knew he needed to break but he couldn't help it. Every time he was with her, she made him feel nervous.

They made it to the kitchen and just like how he reacted, the other titans followed suit. Starfire was all about this new look, gluing herself to Raven's side. Beast Boy watched from across from the table as he ate his food, he couldn't hide the happiness from his expression. She looked so uncomfortable having everyone's attention on her.

There was a time before when it was like this, when all the Titans were shocked by the current events, that was when Beast Boy had yelled out to the world that he was finally dating Raven. No one believed him until Raven confirmed it herself. She had done it without blinking an eye, so nonchalantly. He didn't know how she did it.

Finishing up his food, he set his dishes in the sink before turning to the others. "Unless it is an absolute emergency, I hope you will not contact us while we're gone. But of course, if you do need us, don't hesitate to call, okay?" He walked towards Raven, he was surprised to see that she actually ate what he cooked. "You ready?" He asked, lightly touching her shoulder with his fingertips.

She glanced up at him before standing up, cleaning up after herself, she was soon waiting for him. "Lead the way," She told him with her arms crossed. She didn't know what to expect but with Beast Boy, no one ever did.

The two left the tower, he paused to look up in the sky. There weren't any clouds, the sky was blue as can be. The sun above was already heating the air, the day was perfect for this date. He looked her way with a grin, "This first place is a little far away, you willing to fly?" He asked before transforming himself into a bird. Not waiting long enough for her answer, he launched himself into the air. Flapping his wings, he glanced behind to see she was right on his tail. He should have known better to even think that she wouldn't be able to manage to keep up with him.

The two flew away, leaving the titan tower behind them. It was about a ten minute trip before he had swooped down and transformed back to his normal self before he even hit the ground. Giving his limbs a stretch, he let out a sigh. "Nothing like a little morning exercise and cold air to jolt yourself awake."

Raven soon landed next to him and gave a look around. The only thing in front of them was a dirt trail and a thickness of lush trees. She looked over at him with a raised brow, "If I knew we were going to be outside like this, I would have brought sunscreen." She continued to look around but didn't say much more after that.

Beast Boy smiled sheepishly, "I figured since you like a guy who could turn into animals, you would like to take a nature walk with me." He shrugged his shoulders and tried not to acknowledge the fact that she didn't seem too impressed with his planning. He soon felt better when she began walking, leading the way. The walked for minutes, not many words were exchanged between the two as they experienced the sights around them. At least Raven was looking around, Beast Boy was just watching her. With the way the sun shown down on her, she looked even more beautiful. How in the world did he get so lucky? His eyes traveled down before resting on her pale hand. It was looking pretty lonely at the moment.

"You're staring," She pointed out, not even looking his way.

"I.." He paused and looked away. "I was thinking about asking you if you would like to hold hands, that's all." He admitted with a blush. How did she catch him staring like that all of the time? Did she have eyes in the back of her head?

She looked at him a bit surprised before looking away, "I guess that is what people on a date do..." She murmured to herself before slowly holding her hand out. "If you try something weird, don't blame me if you go flying." She explained with a small huff.

Beast Boy was beaming when he saw her hand move his way, he took it without a second thought. Of course, when he grabbed it, he couldn't help but be surprised. He figured her skin would be ice cold, but that wasn't the case at all. Her hand was warm in his, he moved closer to her as their fingers intertwined.

They were making progress, he couldn't believe it! Before they always kept a foot between themselves and now he was holding her hand! Hearing birds tweet and what sounded like squirrels rustling through the weeds and up the trees, he continued to look around. To him, this wasn't so bad. The trail wasn't very long so he wanted to enjoy this as much as possible before it ended.

It wasn't long before they had hit the end and he was disappointed when she let go of his hand. Maybe it was too sweaty for her, he was a bit nervous. "The next place isn't too far away but we will have to catch a quick taxi." He explained as he led her out of the woods and onto the streets.

She gave him a nod before they were on their way to the second place. Once there, she looked up at the building. This was a place she had never been to before, she gave him a curious look.

He just smiled and led her inside, "I used to come here with the guys on the weekends, figured I would show you our hangout." He gave a shrug, "You might like it, we'll have some fun." Telling her to wait there, he stepped away to go grab them a room. Soon he had a key and headed back over. Leading her to the back, they entered a hall full of doors. Going to the number that matched the key, he slid it in the lock. Looking back at her, he grinned at her confused expression. "Ready to have some serious fun?" He asked as he turned the door handle.

He opened the door leading to a pretty small black room. Lights were bright against the wall, leading to a screen with speakers. "It's really nice that this room is soundproof so no one can listen in to others while they sing." He explained before falling down onto the leather couch that was conveniently there. Leaning forward, he grabbed a microphone. "Ready to sing some karaoke?" He asked with a growing grin. He knew he caught her off guard by her expression, he had planned for this. He was ready to impress her with his skills.

She took a seat next to him and picked up a catalog on the table and gave it a glance over, "The fact that you guys come here to hang out is really... something." Flipping through the pages, she glanced up. "I'm not singing, this is completely all you."

His smile fell, "But it's fun when more than one person is singing!" Seeing she wasn't moving from her decision, his shoulders fell. "I guess I'll just have to sing for the both of us to make up for the loss." He explained before turning to the screen to select his first of many songs. He gave her a smirk, "I'll hit you with one of my favorites, even got the number one spot." He gave her a wink, only getting a roll of the eyes as a reply.

So he sang will she watched, this continued up until his throat felt raw. She didn't say much, but she did clap slowly for him every now and then. That meant something, right? He had asked her multiple times if she would like to sing at least one song before they left. He was disappointed each time she had said no, he was very curious about what her singing voice sounded like. He was sure it was beautiful.

It was when they had left the place that he realized that hunger would soon be approaching. It was a good thing that the next place had delicious food! So far it seemed like his date plan was a bust but there was no way that the next place would fail. It brought him to tears every time he had gone. She wasn't the type to laugh but he hoped that this would... No, he knew this would be what made this date better.

Giving a smile, he noticed she was staring his way as they walked. What was she thinking? He was afraid to ask, he didn't want to hear her answer. "You hungry?" He suddenly asked, wanting the thoughts out of his head.

She shrugged her shoulders, "I could probably eat something."

He took her hand, giving it a squeeze. "We should hurry then, I can't have you starving." He led her through the streets of their city, his grip on her hand tightened. With so many people out and about, he didn't want to lose her.

It was about a twenty minute walk before they hit their next place. It was a small building that he recognized much too well. Going inside, he went over to a woman sitting behind the counter.

Raven watched them interact, it seemed like they knew each other. She looked around, a bad feeling was hitting her gut. Where had Beast Boy taken her now?

He turned towards her, two tickets in his hand. "Let's go," He said excitedly before pulling her away towards the back. Tables lined the room followed by a stage. People occupied many of the tables but he luckily managed to get a table close to the stage. "Order whatever you want just don't eat too much or you'll throw up from laughing too much." He advised her, knowing from experience. "Raven, welcome to my favorite comedy club!" He enthused.

The expression on her face was close to horror, this is what he expected. But he knew after see witnessed such comedy gold, she wouldn't be the same. He smiled at their waiter and soon ordered their food. It wasn't long before two plates sat in front of them, the lights became dim. It was starting!

A man with a microphone had started the show off just talking about the place before introducing the first comedian, handing the mic off, the true part of the show began. A man, most likely in his forties stood under the bright light on the stage. Sticking the microphone onto the stand, he cleared his throat. "So... one of my close friends gathered the courage to try out for this trumpet position in this orchestra he adored... turns out he blew it..."

There was a pause in the crowd except for one table, the one belonging to them. He pounded his fist on the table and laughed, "I get it! Trumpet!" He continued laughing, earning a smile from the comedian.

"You really are entertained by the littlest of things..." Raven mumbled to herself as she poked at her food with her fork.

Beast Boy overheard her easily, giving her a glance. He continued to watch as the man continued telling his bad jokes. He thought the guy was pretty funny, how could she not? He looked back towards the guy and sighed softly. Every place he picked has sucked, Raven didn't look like she was enjoying herself at all! He was a terrible boyfriend! There was no way she would agree on a second date. He sat in the chair, the jokes sounding less funny to him. He kept to himself as he thought about why he was failing, he had a feeling why. Everywhere he chose... They were places he loved. Raven was completely the opposite of him, why should she like what he did? He had to think in her point of view... He continued thinking for a moment before nodding to himself. He knew what to do.

He kept silent to himself as they pulled the next person on stage. It was around the fourth person when they decided to begin wrapping things up.

"Everything alright?" Raven asked, looking over at him. "You haven't laughed at the last few jokes, are you finally realizing that they aren't funny?" She asked.

He looked up at her with a grin before tapping his head, "Trying to memorize them so I can tell the others titans, that's all." He explained. She was way too observant, he was even starting to worry her. Great. At least on the bright side, she had yet to really complain about any of the places he had brought her. So maybe this wasn't going as bad as he thought? Maybe...

They finished their food and people around them clapped as the last comedian left the stage. "Great food and a great show, what more could you ask for?" He asked out loud as he gave his full stomach a rub.

"Better content," She answered immediately before standing up. "I bet this is where you get all your material for your jokes, isn't it?"

He stood and followed her with a smirk, "I don't know what you're talking about. I am all original." He told her with a shrug. He didn't need to copy jokes to be funny, he radiated humor. "I think you enjoyed the show but are just embarrassed to say it out loud. I get it, I do." She gave him a small glare, ending his words there. He couldn't stop smiling however when he noticed the lightest of pink on her cheeks. He was so right.

They left, he, of course, grabbed her hand once more as they were walking down the sidewalk. If he knew better, he knew she wouldn't be so allowing to let him touch her after this. He wanted to soak up her warmth as much as possible.

"I feel like I'm going to regret asking but... where to next?" She asked, looking his way. The day had gone by so quickly, there was only a couple more hours before the sun would begin setting.

"You are just going to have to wait and see," He told her, looking around himself. He knew where he wanted to go, he just wasn't really prepared to go there himself. This was a place that screamed Raven. That meant no drooling, no sleeping, no acting like his usual self. They were going somewhere so boring that he never could see him entering the place. They were going to t-

"The art museum?" She said out loud, stopping at the entrance. She gave him a confused look, "Honesty, I wasn't expecting this." She told him before looking back to the building.

He tightened his hold on her hand, giving it a light squeeze. Was that a good confused look or a bad? As he thought more about it, he felt himself being pulled up to the front doors. He soon smiled to himself, he was pretty sure it was a good confused look.

He kept close to her side as she walked around, watching as she looked around continuously. They didn't stop and look around for long, it was like she wanted to make sure they could see everything. It was really nice, he noticed that she wore an expression that he had yet to see today. "You really like this place, huh?"

Raven looked over at him, giving a small nod. "What isn't there to like about it? The quietness? The lack of people? I don't think this place could possibly get better." She paused to look at a statue, "It's nice to take a moment to appreciate something that someone took their time making. Especially something with such high details, I can only imagine how much sweat and tears it took to create this." She explained, giving off a light sigh.

He followed her eyes and rose a brow, all he could see was a naked dude. "I understand how you feel completely." He lied as he nodded his head. Looking back at her, his smile came back. If he knew this type of place made her this happy, he would be eager to stay here all day. Sure he messed up, but all that mattered was that he picked the right place now.

They continued walking around, Beast Boy hadn't realized how big this place actually was. They had to have been there for hours before Raven turned to him, telling him that she had looked at everything and was ready to head out if he was. He definitely was.

When they had left the museum, they were surprised to see that it wasn't a sunny sky meeting them, but a sky full of stars. "Sorry for taking so long, I guess I didn't realize how much time had passed," She apologized softly.

Beast Boy shook his head, "Don't be. I'm glad you enjoyed yourself." He told her with a reassuring smile. He gave a look up to the sky and watched the stars for a moment. "I'm glad you agree to come with me, it was nice, it being just the two of us." He admitted, following it with a sigh. "There's just one more place I would like to take you, after that, we can go home." He told her, receiving a nod, he began walking.

The last place he wanted to take her was as bad of an idea as the comedy club, so he had to make another quick change of mind. He thought of another place pretty quick however, already pulling her towards it.

It was just a small shop, one of the few places that remained open after the sun went down. The large cup as the sign is what made him remember the place, it being kind of odd compared to the buildings beside it. But it screamed Raven's name and he knew she would love it.

When they arrived, he rubbed the back of his neck. "Their main drink is coffee but they also have herbal tea and that kind of stuff. Their food is pretty good too." He explained shyly, "I know you already drink the stuff all of the time but I figured you would like to try it in another brand or whatever..." To be honest, he just felt kind of lame.

"What are we waiting for?" She asked, giving him a tug forward.

He chuckled and followed behind her as they entered the small shop. Getting a friendly greeting from the cashier made the visit even better, Choosing a table in the far corner, he was happy that it was just the two of them. He had gotten himself his usual coffee while she had gotten a type of tea that he couldn't even attempt at pronouncing. When she had seen the menu, she made a comment about being surprised at the fact that they had so many different types.

Now he was staring at his reflection in his drink, not knowing what to say. After this, their date was over. A part of him wished they wouldn't leave. He took a sip of the hot beverage before sitting back in his chair. "Raven... I want to apologize. Before the museum... I dragged you to all of those places that you would not even think about liking. I'm sorry that our date sucked." There, he said it out loud. What he wasn't expecting was to hear was the smallest of chuckles. Looking up, he noticed her eyes held amusement. "What? I don't get the joke?" He said confused.

She ran her finger along the rim of the cup, her eyes not leaving his. "You said the date sucked, I don't remember thinking once that the date was bad." She explained, "Even now, you are still catching me off guard."

He looked at her surprised, "How could you not think it sucked? I made you walk all day for what?" He asked, his brows raising. "You didn't look like you enjoyed any bit of it."

She let out a sigh, "You know how I am with my emotions Beast Boy. I'm sorry I made you feel like I didn't enjoy it because I really did. It's funny thinking about it now but after you asked me if I wanted to go out on a date, I had to meditate for two hours to keep my emotions from getting out of control." She confessed, her cheeks growing warm. "I got the chance to watch you sing your heart out with such happiness that it just makes me jealous. Listening to you laugh at those poor jokes... It made me realize that your laugh is one of the many reasons I have feelings for you." She explained as her fingers gripped the cup to keep still, "It also made me appreciate your jokes because they are so much better." Her eyes lowered, "You surprised me even more when you took me to the museum, it's one of my favorite places to visit when I am by myself. You being there... it made it even better. Even now, taking me to a cafe that sells herbal tea... You really amaze me Beast Boy."

"I love you, Raven." He didn't even think about it, the words just flowed out of his mouth. But he meant each word, of course, next thing he knew, the cup in his hand suddenly exploded. He jumped up at the hot liquid, looking at her in shock. That's when he saw a look that was a first for Raven. A smile going along with a heavily blushed face, it made the burning of his skin totally worth it. "I'm going to go grab a towel, don't worry about it." He told her before pulling himself away to see if he could get something from the cashier. He couldn't remove the smile from his face, even when he came back. He noticed Raven was back to looking like her normal self, sipping away at her tea.

"Sorry about your drink," She apologized shortly, not looking his way. Setting her cup down, it was now empty. "We should head home soon, I'm sure the others are getting worried."

He nodded, "You know they're going to pound us with questions, right?" His smile turned to a grin now knowing that Raven had a fun time with him. He actually wasn't that bad of a boyfriend! As they headed out, he looked her way. "So is a date number two possible...?" He asked with a curious look.

She glanced next to him before giving a small smile, "Only if I get to take you out next time." She told him, surprised by his sudden punch in the air. "You are such a dork."

He moved closer to her, "Yeah? But I'm your dork."

Just like he had guessed, as soon as they arrived back at the tower, they were pounded with questions. While Raven went back to her room, probably to meditate, he answered them happily. He really could not ask for a more perfect first date.
