"We've still got it, huh, Scully?" He blew the words into her hair, and smiled against the top of her head.

They did still have it. Whatever it was. This was more than impossible. It was out of the question and almost beyond comprehension. This kind of thing seemed to be a theme for their life, though, and this curve ball was just another time they managed to beat the odds.

She blew a soft laugh into his chest, and pulled him closer. "What are we going to do, Mulder?" Her words were choked in tears, as she stepped back so she could look up at him.

He nodded slowly, hands sliding from around her back. He took her left hand in his, fingers tangling together. His right sought her stomach almost instantly, fingers splaying barely there against the fabric. "House is big enough for you, me and a baby," He said softly, eyes cast down, focused hard on the miracle laying under his hand.

She pushed out a hard breath and shook her head, "What are we going to do, Mulder?" She asked again, her mind moving through so many questions that she couldn't formulate a coherent thought. "We will be well into our seventies when he's in high school."

His eyes slid up to meet hers, and a soft smile tilted his lips. "We won't be the cool young parents on the block, that's for sure. She'll never bring her friends around."

She smiled at that, and let her hand slid over his, both holding each other and this impossible miracle, with all the strength they had. "That's not what I mean…"

He nodded. He did know what she meant. He knew that there were a million questions she was trying to ask, trying to answer. "I don't know what you want me to say, Scully. We're having a baby."

She swallowed back a hard breath, eyes locked with his. How he could do this, be so calm, be so strong, look at her with such love and conviction, she didn't know. But it was all that was keeping her sane. "Don't you want to know how, why…" Her words trailed off as she processed the look he was giving her. Raised eyebrows and an almost victorious smile.

"We know how," He teased, his fingers unlacing form hers so he could brush away her tears.

"Don't you have a million question, Mulder?"

"I have about four million, Scully. But what good is any of that now? We have time to ask and answer all of them. Right now," He told her, his voice cracked slightly, throat choked with a wave of emotion, "we need to get you home."

"You think we can do this, Mulder?"

He smiled and took her hand again, leading her away. "Of course we can. Look at everything we've been through. Gun shots. Alien abductions. Jail. Cancer. I died, Scully," He reminded her, his hand firm and soft in hers, "and look where we are now? Still here. Still together. Still doing the impossible."

She nodded, and squeezed his hand. As impossible as this was, at least this time she wasn't alone. This time he was unwavering and unflinching at her side.

"You've seen a doctor?" He wondered as they walked hand and hand along the dock.

"Yes. But only to confirm the pregnancy."

"Mmmm," He nodded, "We need to find you a good doctor. And we need to make sure you start eating right. No more coffee, Scully."

She laughed and smiled at his profile. "If I can't have coffee, neither can you."

"We're in this together, Scully, but don't get carried away."

Maybe he was right. Maybe they could and would be able to do this. Maybe this was their reward for surviving everything life threw at them. Their end game, for beating the odds.

Their happily ever after, for being able to best the universe.

And maybe he or she end would up being the best thing they ever did, after all.
