On distant planet, in board hall, in throne, surrounded by holographic displays, sited a person. She looked like a woman – tall, with dark pink hair, and snubby nose. She was wearing a cloth, that look like mix between royal dress, and futuristic costume. That was ruler of Gem Empire, and right now, she was monitoring everything, that happens on her planets. While monitoring, she decided to remember a past, everything, that was before, she become a rule of her Empire.

In beginning, her name was a Pink Diamond, and she was part of Diamond Authority, which consist of, as you can guess, the Diamonds – her, Blue, White, and Yellow. Despite of being one of co-rulers of Gempire, everyone always was watching on her down, sometimes, literally – weak, small, and compared to other Diamonds, looking like a midget, and there even was a rumor, that she is defective. But she was a Diamond, never the less, so everyone has to pay her respect, that she deserves.

She failed to surpass a disgusted snort – with respect she deserves, yeah, right. No, of course everyone bow to her, and address to her by her title, but she always felt, thanks to her empathy, that this nothing, but a façade, from fear of other Diamonds, and nobody respected her more, than quarts soldiers.

It's unknown, how would worked out her destiny, if she didn't meet one certain Peridot scientist, who's research become stepping stone for her new Empire. It was after her talk with Yellow Diamond, about her lack of her own planet and army. While being in terrible mood, she decided to walk around, to clear her head. While walking, she come across one of laboratory, located in abounded hall – all equipment was in terrible shape, and sector looked like some boondocks. Pink choose this place, because no come here, so no one could disturb her. That is why she was very surprised, when she heard muffled muttering. Perhaps, she would try to get rid of intruder, or run, if not for words "improvement of gem's characteristics". Intrigued, she diceded to listen.

- … compared to previous observation, most noticeable changes seen from shards implanted in control group JS-5, while group XC-3 shows almost no changes, because of lack of outside stimulus for improvement. Group DZ-9 shows unexpected result – thanks to high synchronization with shards, there is improvement of physical strength and size of bearer. Side note – find a new supplier for food for test subjects, and shards – I was called by higher ups several times, and I have a suspicion, that piece of slag is going to sold me to Diamonds…

Decided, that she heard enough, Pink Diamond enters the lab, and clear her throat. Peridot, startled, quickly get her weapon (tonfa stick), prepared to strike intruded – only to stop, after seeing, who she was about to strike. Paralyzed, and trying not to poof from fear, to keep any remnants of self-respect, gem-scientist was prepared to accept her fate.

Meanwhile, Pink Diamond observing "crime scene" – metrical machines, computers, flask with technicolor liquids, and most important, "victims" – creatures, locked in glassy boxes. Some of then looked like a lizard, some swimming in water, others were covered in fur and feathers, and some, couldn't be descripted properly. Beside animals and fishes, there was some plants and mushrooms. Everything had one thing in common – into their bodies were planted shards of Gems – mostly it was shards of fallen quarts' soldiers, but there was couple of elite. Decided, that she not gonna get all information by observation alone, Pink, after closing a door, said to Peridot:

- Tell me everything.

Understanding, that she is out of options, Peridot told Pink Diamond everything: she was member of science team, who's mission was research planets, chosen for colonization. They have to research next things: how fertile lands for kindergartens, how convenient terraria for building, and finally, observing local life forms, to determinate, how much of threat it can be for future colonization. Last part interested Peridot the most – after all millenniums, that she spends in observations, one particular ability of organic life forms perked her interest – adaptation. While every Gem was getting a set amount of abilities after creation, and one weapon, had to work with that, and could do only limited amount of purpose, while organic life, when needed, could change, to rise its changes to survive. Intrigued, Peridot decided observe life forms on planets, that wasn't on colonization list. Seeing, how its strive to survive change it in time, that for immortal Gem nothing but blink of an eye, scientist was struck with idea – what if, instead of regular hard-light based bodies of Gems, give them organic one. Of course, such bodies if gonna have cons, but there and pros as well. For example, if physical body of Gem damage too much, it must retread into her gemstone for recover. Someone is gonna say, that is nothing, but in battle, it could be a critical situation – first, gemstone is much smaller, than a body, and can be easily lost in heat of battle, and second, most important, there is a risk, that enemy, who poofed one unlucky gem, is gonna crack her gemstone. While some organic creatures, as Peridot find out by most inhumane tests (she is lucky, since there is was no Greenpeace around), could functioning, despite of serious wounds, which could provide an advantage in battle. And if they would be able improve natural self-healing with Gem shape shifting ability…

When Peridot offer her idea to one of Diamonds, she couldn't believe her luck: not only she wasn't shuddered, but she also was able to dodge energy ray, which was supposed to poof her, leaving her with sense of fear, and loss of her previous position. But despite of failure, she didn't abounded her idea – secretly gathering some organic creatures, and implanting shards of fallen Gems into their bodies, in hope of results. And as a reward for her hard labor, scientist got results – lot of the test subjects shows improvement of their organic bodies, as well of shards, being with them in symbiosis.

After hearing her story, Pink Diamond thought – on one hand, if one of the Diamonds forbid experiments, then there is a very good reason for this, and hiding something like that could bring her a lot of problems. On other… she put her hand on her gemstone – this was an opportunity for improvement, to become stronger, and finally get rid of this feeling of being pathetic. After some thinking, Pink Diamond make a decision – she made a deal with Peridot: she will keep silent about experiments, and even provide everything, she need, and in change, scientist will provide her with data, including the one, that she already have.

It was better, than being shuddered, and Peridot agreed. And both sides made good of their part of the deal: Pink Diamond always provided everything, what need for research, like equipment, or test subject, and as a bonus, got rid of previous supplier – there is was a lot of accidents, where Gems ended up being shuddered. In her turn, scientist always send detailed record of her experiments, telling about every, even smaller details. All this data Pink Diamond keep save, coding it, and never give other Diamonds even a slightest hint, about its existence.

Unfortunately, their fruitful business come to an end – somehow, other Diamonds learned about experiments, and as result, laboratory was destroyed, including all data and a test subjects, and Peridot… was shuddered. She can't tell why, but Pink Diamond decided to keep shard of the Gem scientist, keeping it save in box, next to lab data.

Later, after death of a scientist, Pink finally got, what she desired the most – her own army, and a planet. In any other situation, she would be delightful – but, because of loss of Peridot, and hence, loss of her change of improvement, she couldn't. It's unknown, what she would do with her life, if not for creatures, inhabiting her new planet – humans. Humanoid creatures, looking almost like majority of Gems – bipedal, arms, with hands, for using tools, which they proved, by using their primitive equipment. They could make an excellent army of new, organic Gems… if only she had an opportunity. Right now, all what she could to do, it's send some human into her human zoo, reread Peridot's data, and send reports of colonization to other Diamonds.

One time, when she was reading scientist research data, she failed to hold her anger.

- For the… - she angrily muttered. – Such an opportunity, and all they care about, is another tower or kindergarten with characterless soldiers!

- Totally agreed, - suddenly said her Sapphire.

Pink Diamond always keep her close, because of her ability to see future, so she could be ready for surprise calls – some imbecilic soldier won't be a problem, since she couldn't understand what see coded research data on monitor, but someone with brains, or Moon Goddess forbid, one of the Diamonds, it will be an end for her.

Meanwhile, seeress continued.

- Humanoid creatures, with body parts, adapted for high functional works, and rudiment of intellect, but do they care? Those pieces of slag, sitting on theirs… thrones, won't be able to see a true potential, even if poke their face with it!

Looking with surprise at Sapphire, Pink Diamond let out a chuckle.

- You know, you would make everything much easier, if you just told me, that you are here, Peridot.

- My apologies, my Diamond, but because of circumstance, I have to keep low profile. And I am grateful to you, for keeping my shard save, - politely said scientist, bowing.

As turns out, several days before her execution, Peridot decided to make plan B, if something happens to her – one time, when she accidently met with Pink, and her Pearl and Sapphire, who were escorting her, they were attacked by a monster – corrupted Gem. Seeress only got time to yell "Look out, My Diamond!", before she got poofed by a monster. Seeing, that everyone busy dealing with a monster, Peridot take lying gemstone of Sapphire, and run (this, by the way, was official reason for her execution – she's run away, while Diamond was in danger, despite the fact she is scientist, not a fighter). In her lab, she made an unspeakable – she transfers copy of herself into gemstone of Sapphire. So, even after her execution she keeps on living – even if a little not herself. The most painful experience wasn't her "death", but a destruction of all her hard labor.

After hearing out Peridot-Sapphire, Pink Diamond asks, if she able same think to her. She was.

And this is where legendary Rose Quarts come from – leader of Rebellion, protector of Earth, and initiator of Great Gem War. Oh, it was a beautiful time – she got not one, but two armies! So what, that both her armies were against each other? The most important thing, she got, what she needed – colonization of the planet has to put to stop, and humans was mostly safe. But, war was keep going, and Diamonds didn't want to surrender planet so easily. Plus, lots of Gems in army of Rebellion start to lose their trust to Rose Quarts. That is why, Pink decided to make a risky move, that will scare away Diamonds, and rise authority of Rose Quarts – shuddering of Pink Diamond. First, she come through unpleasant proceeding – making her Gemstone fragile enough for sword. She could just use Breaking Point, created by a Bismuth – but this would bring unwanted questions (she poofed weapon maker not because she felt sorry for others, but because, she had reputation of merciful and all forgiving leader to keep). Then, just to be safe, she and Peridot-Sapphire made a special place on planet, so, if scientist had to leave a planet, she would be able to communicate on close channel.

After all this, she, after consulting with Peridot-Sapphire, she summons Rose Quarts, for negotiation – of course, reason for bringing sword leader of Rebellion was need to protect her allies, after all, she is not that naïve. And so, this is happening – enraged, Pink Diamond attack Rose with her sword, but Quarts easily rebel attack of tyrant with her shield… and right before everyone eyes, one of the Diamonds, top of elite, tyrant, terrorizing this planet, "fall". And not being poofed, so she can make her comeback after regeneration – no, she was shuddered, without any hope of restoration. She got, what she wanted – Diamonds leave the planet alone, and every doubt against Rose Quarts come without trace. But one little problem thou – Diamonds turns out to be very vengeful persons, this why they decided to punish every Gem on Earth. Army of Rebellion for reasons, and others, just because they didn't care. Their revenge? They used some energy, that could corrupt any Gem, turning them into a mindless monster. Pink Diamond, now being Rose Quarts, barely had a time to shield herself, and a handful of her allies, to prevent to become a monsters. Fortunately, Peridot-Sapphire was able to leave this planet, and keep her mind.

After all time, she spends on Earth, Rose Quarts wasn't able make to significant progress in creation of organic Gems – most, she achieved, it's control over the plants, something close to things, created by Peridot – Lion. She was ready to give up, when she met him – Greg Universe. On first glance, he was just another, plain human – there was lot of them. But for some reason, she felt attraction for this human – perhaps, because of his words "You the one, I want the most!".

After spending time with him, and incident with baby Sour Cream, she decided to make another risky move – create organic Gem, with, ahem, natural way of local's inhabitants. When Peridot first heard about her decision, scientist wasn't so delightful – she told about risks, odds of failure, while not watching her language. But, she gives up on trying to reason with her Diamond, and she agreed to take a part in this madness – retiming communicator, scientist was able gain all data from Rose Quarts gemstone, thanks to her connection with shard of diamond, even if leader of Rebellion will cease to exist as a person.

And finally, the moment has come – birth of her son, first prototype of her new army – Steven. Start was very slow – first time he couldn't even properly talk or walk! There wasn't even a thought about using Gem powers. But then, everything become to rise – summoning weapon, enhanced strength, healing spit (gross, but more convenient, than healing tears – it's much easier just spit on wound, rather than cry on it), creation of new life form (watermelon people), variation of shield (bubble, bubble with spikes), fusion with human being, direct control of others, and finally, most important – creation of his kind. Last ability emerges, when Steven tried to save this imbecile Lars, when they both got stuck on Homeworld. Of course, it was basically same thing, she did to the Lion, but thanks to Steven nature, it was evolving.

Peridot was delightful – all data, she got from Rose Quarts, when she was Steven, helped her make a colossal progress in her research. She studied every detail, his every action, every cell of his body, so scientist could understand nature of organic Gem, its ability, its potential, its limits.

Until finally, this day has come – day, that mark begging of her rising, and new Revolution – day of her resurrection. Gathering enough data, and sample of Steven's DNA, Peridot decided to try to resurrect Pink Diamond from shard, that was in possession of scientist, and give her a new organic body in process. It took a lot of resources, and time, but it was worth it – instead of small, weak, pathetic girl she was, from the container with biocrystal formula emerged strong, tall, mature woman. She wasn't a Pink Diamond anymore – no, this name belonged to pathetic excuse for person. She took name Blood Diamond, as a reminder, about thing, that make her the one, who she is now. She didn't forget the one, who was loyal to her to very end, and thanks to who everything was possible – Blood not only restored her original gemstone, but gave her a new, organic body, fusion of Peridot and Sapphire, since scientist, while missing her old gemstone, got used to Future Vision. New fusion gained name Bio, as a tribute to passion of scientist.

After getting a new bodies, duo of new organic Gems go to Earth, to test their abilities. It was unforgettable – sense of might, when crushed corrupted Gems, with her bare hands, without summoning her weapon. Sense of power, when she gained control over defeated enemies. But best moment of this test were the day, when she finally met "allies" – Crystal Gems. It was when Blood Diamond and Bio fought one especially dangerous fusion experiment – a huge monster, with a lot of arms, and gem shards, putted together. This abomination make a number on them, but only because they wanted to learn their efficient in fight, while being wounded. Slaying monster, Blood Diamond wanted to pick up trophy, when she felt fear… nay, primitive horror, radiating from seven individuals. Turning around, she couldn't surpass her grin – behind them, inside of pink bubble, created by Stevonnie, were the ones, who fight alongside with her, when she was Rose Quarts, and that shorty Peridot, whom Bio gave a mean look. View of a tyrant, who should be dead for six thousand years, covered by bleeding wounds – all this looked like a scene from nightmare. Nightmare, that become reality. Giving everyone one last look, Blood Diamond, finally picked up her trophy, and ordered Bio to leave, walked away. She never turned around – no one of Crystal Gems could follow them, too shocked by what they saw.

Several months later, after some tests and fights with remands of army of Rebellion, they were ready for new step – creation of a new army. But before that, Blood Diamond decided to cut loose her connection with her past – in her last fight with Crystal Gems, she relived them truth about their precious Rose Quarts. Despair, denial of truth, despite of proof – all this helped her to destroy last guardians of Earth, and, using Rose Quarts gemstone, she gained control over Stevonnie, preferring human fusion over Garnet. After getting rid of most serious (as thout Blood Diamond) obstruction, she, after gaining control over corrupted Gems in the temple, decided to go to her human zoo. Baiting one of ships of Homeworld, she, with help of Stevonnie and Bio, get rid of the crew. Gemstones of fallen Gems Blood infuse into Stevonnie body (as turns out in one of the tests, she can infuse gemstones in others gems body – but unlike fusion, all action controlled by main gem). Unleashing monster on important strategic posts of Homeworld, Blood Diamond took over her human zoo, - sealed all Gems, and change communication, to keep low profile, they turned human zoo into facility for creation of organic Gems.

After creation, and training of her new army, Blood Diamond begun her assault – taking over small strategic points, she slowly grows her power. When other Diamonds decided to finally to take some action, it was already too late – second Great Gem War was inventible.

This war was bloody and merciless – destabilizers were no good against armies of Blood Diamond, and her soldiers could better take a damage, a were able to take control over poofed Gems. By the end of the war, she personally fought against all Diamond Authority. Their speech how her experiments is nothing but sacrilege – yeah, right, look who is talking! Like your oh so precious Cluster was example of perfection. Ok, it did, what it was made for – destroyed planet. What next? How they planned to control this… abomination?! At least her creation much more elegant, and listen to her. So Blood Diamond felt no remorse shuddering all Diamonds, - but she expressed her gratitude to Blue, for caring for her human zoo.

Officially, war ended after death of Diamond Authority, but there is was one problem – in beginning of war, Stevonnie, somehow gaining control over themselves, go to Earth. There, they explained what happening right now to their friends and families, and, turning them into something like Lars (without killing them beforehand), and giving them ship, they asked only for one thing – stop them, and Diamonds. And so, even after death of all Diamonds, there still was a thread for her empire – humans gathered Gems, who was against new and old order, and too often she was getting reports about rebellion on another colony. But unlike previous Diamonds, she didn't underestimate a threat – she gave a direct order about exterminating parasites. It was already centuries, but she didn't rush it – she was patient.

Suddenly, her walk on memory lane was interrupted by appearance of another person – tall figure, with dark skin, and shoulder length black hair. It could be called plain looking, if not for gems, implanted into its body. On forehead was a pearl, flanked by triangle peridot. On its chest was amethyst, with frame made of bismuth. On ride backhand was a sapphire, on left – a ruby. On nose bridge shined jasper. And finally, on its back was drop shaped lazuli.

Kneeing to her, unknown said.

- My Diamond.

Switching her attention to incomer, Blood Diamond said.

- Report.

- All supreme leaders of Resistance were eliminated. There are still some troops, but their end is just a matter of time.

Satisfied with report, Blood Diamond switched her attention back to monitors.

- You done well, Cluster. You free to go.

- Yes, my Diamond, - answered Cluster, rising from its knee, and bowing to her.

Turning around, it walked toward the exit – with a single tear, rolled on its cheek, just to dry and be forgotten, like everything else, what were precious for this creature.

Lips of Blood Diamond stretched in cruel smile – finally she has her own army, planet, and even Empire.

Who said, that pretty girl can't have it all?
