Anxiety gripped Yu and as he rode the elevator up to Ozpins office. Had it always been this slow?

"You must relax," Chiron advised. "Panicking will get you nowhere."

Taking his advice Yu inhaled, and exhaled reigning in his feelings just as the elevator let out a ding before opening the doors into the headmaster's office where both and he and Glynda were discussing something but stopped as they saw him enter quickly.

He wordlessly summoned Sherlock Holmes

"Is something the matter Mr Narukami?" Ozpin inquired curiously.

"Are you aware of the recent disappearances that have been occurring in Vale in the last two months?" Holmes asked

"I am, Ms Adel has been in my office every day trying to get me to help do something, ever since her friend Noire became one of the victims about two weeks ago," Ozpin explained sighing regretfully. "Sadly as I've told her, my hands are tied due to this being a civilian affair. Despite what some might think, hunters, cannot arbitrarily involve themselves in whatever matters they please. The only exception being that it somehow involves Huntsman in some way in which case Beacon can assist. But until such time, even I cannot access the case files."

"You can now," Holmes informed him as he took Yu's scroll and wandered over to Ozpins desk with it. "Ruby Rose and Jaune Arc, are now victims fifty-one and fifty-two respectively."

"How do you know this?"

"The perpetrator contacted me directly and emailed me a video of him doing it from Ruby's scroll," Yu explained as Holmes put his scroll onto Ozpins desk causing a holo-screen to appear with the video file Adachi sent ready to play. Holmes hit play and they all watched as an unconscious Ruby and Jaune were put through the tv screen.

"Who was that man?" Glynda asked.

"His name is Tohru Adachi, he's a former cop, from my world. He murdered two people and set up another guy to try and kill more under the guise of saving them from him." Holmes explained idly. "I assume now you may access those files?"

"I can now," Ozpin confirmed as he turned and typed at the screen a bit before the case files came up. There was a map of Vale with red dots all over it, showing times and dates. Clearly the last-known locations of the victims.

"Does this mean that all of these people are dead?" Glynda gasped.

"No". Holmes said examining the map. "If any of the victims were dead their bodies would have turned up dangling from rooftops or antennae. It would be a media spectacle that not even the council could keep quiet."

"When people died in the TV World, which is where he sent Jaune and Ruby and probably the other victims too, their corpses would appear hanging from rooftops or antennae," Yu explained. "The fact that no bodies have turned up means that they are all alive for some reason. Plus, Adachi is a slacker. He would take this many people in such a short time frame just to kill them, it would be a chore to him rather than any fun."

"Fun?" Glynda said indignantly. "He does this for fun?!"

"We can learn his motivations when we catch him," Ozpin said looking to the map that Holmes was examining.

"Indeed, it is too late at night to get a hold of witnesses, but we can begin the search at the sight of the first crime scene." Holmes pointed to a spot near the centre of the city. "But I have noticed a pattern." He pointed to the earliest date. "You see, the earliest kidnappings occurred in alleyways that were close too or in the High Street where the shops are located. Why?"

Yu thought for a moment before remembering something. "People still have grandparents who fought in the great war against Mantle," Yu recalled. "They'd have heard stories about what Mantle and its armies did. What they wanted to do. Even though they branded as Atlas, those people and their children and grandchildren don't trust Atlas, seeing it as Mantle by another name. As such they don't trust their technology like holo screens, which is why solid screen TV's are in high demand still."

"Precisely, which means?"

"One of the stores near the first kidnapping is bound to sell them." Yu realised.

"Indeed, professor." Ozpin nodded to Holmes and tapped a building to the right of the first kidnapping, a box appeared showings its name 'Bourbons TV's' "The entrance is bound to be there, or one anyway. He's probably moving another TV around which he used to get Ruby and Jaune."

"Then if we know where it let us go and-"

"Not yet." Holmes cut Glynda off to her annoyance. "Professor Ozpin, can you access the security footage for Noire's store. The police are bound to have looked at it themselves."

"One moment." Ozpin fiddled with his scroll until a video came up, with the familiar sight of the inside of Noire's store. Judging by the light it was night time, and it seemed as though Noire was closing up.

The play button was pressed and Noire was near the back moving around some clothing. Suddenly the doors opened up and fog began to roll into the store. Although there was no audio the movement of Noire's chin indicated she said something, probably to the effect of 'we're closed'.

It was then a familiar figure lumbered in. It held two long-barrel revolvers. Its face was shrouded in a blood-stained cloth sack, with only one ominous white eye to see its surroundings. It wore two long chains across its left and right shoulders, forming a cross.

"The Reaper," Yu said nervously remembering his encounters with the being which had nearly killed the team.

"Reaper?"

"It's a very powerful shadow," Yu explained. "Powerful enough that even with my friends all fighting together we nearly died trying to beat it. It's strong against pretty much every type of damage, physical or otherwise."

The video continued to play, the Reaper crept closer and closer to Noire, the revolver in its right hand vanished just as Noire whipped around and it grabbed her covering her mouth with its gloved hand muffling her screams. She thrashed and kicked but it was no use. The Reaper held her aloft as it walked back out of the store, the fog following it as the doors closed shut and the video ended.

"That must be how he's doing it." Holmes suspected. "It's no wonder the police have released no information on this. The description would spread fear among the people and combined with them being unable to stop this for so long..."

"The negativity produced would attract Grimm." Ozpin nodded.

"If Adachi can control this Reaper then we are in serious trouble," Glynda said shaking her head.

"No, fortunately for us Adachi could only make fake Reapers, they aren't strong as the original but still dangerous," Yu told them. "He must use them so he doesn't expose himself it lets him wander Vale without suspicion."

"Professor can you contact the police and have them bring the owner down to the store, inform them of the circumstances." Holmes requested. "Oh and please ensure that neither JNPR nor RWBY try to do anything rash, I'm sure they'll figure out something is wrong eventually. Adachi is dangerous and having to protect them will make fighting him much more difficult."

"I will go with you, I am still a professional huntress after all," Glynda stated.

"Alright." Yu nodded and walked over to the elevator with Holmes and Glynda in tow.

When the doors shut and it began moving down he gave voice to one more thought.

"How did Adachi do this? I tried accessing the TV World back on Port Island during the school trip but the TV was normal. So how did Adachi do it on another world no less?"

"Yet another question for him to answer when we catch him," Holmes said as the elevator finally reached its destination.

Jaune groaned as he felt pain shoot through his body. He rolled over and briefly opened his eyes. He saw someone standing a short distance away just watching him.

"Ruby?" he groaned as he tried to stand up but failed and fell onto his belly as he did so he heard the crunching of...leaves?

He opened his again and pushed himself up. A twig snapped and as his vision cleared up he saw trees all around him. He thought he saw a pair of yellow eyes staring at him from the shadows but they seemed to just vanish before he could get a proper look at who or what they belonged too.

"Ugh...The Emerald Forest?" He asked as his vision stopped swimming and he recognised where he was. "But how did I get-RUBY?!" He snapped up looking around for his fellow team leader and friend. "RUBY!" His call for her went unanswered as it echoed throughout the forest.

Getting no answer he pulled his scroll out of his pocket, but as soon as he opened he groaned as he saw 'NO SIGNAL' at the top.

"No signal, but why?" He asked. "Even out in the forest the CCT should still give scrolls a signal, it should be stronger than it would be in Vale."

He paused as he heard a chuckle seeming to come from all around him at once.

"Hey is someone out there?" Jaune asked putting his scroll away.

"Pathetic." The word came from the trees, almost a whisper but still perfectly audible to Jaune.

"Hey, come out." He demanded.

The voice returned but now seemed to be coming from different directions with each word.

"Lazy" "Loser" "Thief" "Fraud" "Liar" "Weak" "Pathetic"

"My Team already knows," Jaune yelled, drawing his sword. "I told them!"

"Thief! " "Thief!" Thief!

"SHUT-" A growl cut Jaune off, he saw many pairs of red eyes staring at him from the shadows of the forest "-up" A growl, came from behind him. He whirled around just time to bock a Beowolf leaping out of him, its fangs and claws bared. He just barely had time to raise his sword as it closed in.

When Glynda and Yu got to the High Street the flashing blue and red lights of police cars were waiting for them, Standing near the officers was a man rather appropriately dressed in a Bourbon coloured suit. He yawned having been dragged out of bed by the police.

Seeing them an officer in charge approached, speaking to Glynda.

"Professor Goodwitch, we have the man you requested." He said begrudgingly, not happy at having hunters intervene in police affairs. "But I don't see how he's connected to this."

"I assure you that he is captain." Professor Goodwitch said

"He probably won't know anything important, but he'll provide enough clues to make this picture clearer," Yu said.

"Well, we're in the middle of getting hold of his bank records both business and personal." The captain told them. "Hopefully they'll arrive soon, the chief wants this case closed as soon as possible."

The three walked over to the police cars, and over to the suit-wearing man. He had bags under his eyes and an annoyed expression on his face.

"Was it really necessary to wake me up at this time of night?" He demanded to another officer.

"Sir, we just want to ask you a few questions that's all." The officer tried to placate him.

"Then why did it have to be out here in front of my store rather than over the phone or at the police station, it's cold damn it."

"Mr Bourbon I presume?" Yu asked causing the man to turn around to face him.

"Yes, that is my name. Alex Bourbon." The man confirmed in an arrogant tone, a sneer on his face as if he felt everyone around him was beneath him. "And who are you?"

"Yu Narukami." Yu introduced himself, before pulling out his scrolling and bringing up a picture of Adachi. "This is the man behind the recent rise of kidnappings, do you recognise him?"

He showed Bourbon the picture of Adachi and when he saw it Bourbon froze, he gulped and a small bead of sweat trickled down his brow, but he quickly composed himself.

"Y-yes, he came and bought a TV from me once a couple of months ago, what of it?"

"Well, this is Tohru Adachi and you see a couple of months ago is when the first kidnapping occurred," Yu stated looking at his scroll at the case file, he took a breath and let Holmes and what he remembered Naoto teaching him to guide his words. "The first victim was a young man named Jim Green. He was out partying and was making his way home. You see his parents keep track of his scroll, the signal vanished at 6:07 PM. The scroll stopped transmitting in the alleyway right next to your store."

Bourbon's gloved fist clenched as Yu continued. His sneer turning into a look of anger.

"Ten minutes before, you concluded your business with Adachi, and I'm willing to bet that you allowing him to leave the store via the side entrance which leads into that alleyway. Shortly after he kidnapped Mr Green." Yu kept on going, and tried a bluff "Then twenty minutes later a pair of White Fang members pulled up in a van in the street over, they went into the alleyway and came out with the very TV you sold to him. They loaded it into the van and drove away."

The officers were shocked and began talking amongst themselves.

"The White Fang?"

"If they're involved this just became even more serious."

"I-I want a lawyer." Bourbon demanded to the dismay of the police.

"That's your right, but all any judge or jury will hear is 'accomplice' and White Fang." Yu pressed causing Bourbon to flinch. "Some of the victims are beloved community leaders, even the best lawyers in the world won't be able to convince a jury to let you go."

"Accomplice but I didn't do anything!" Bourbon yelled furiously.

"That's not what they'll think when we demonstrate that your TV's were used in the kidnappings." Yu shot back.

Bourbon gulped audibly this time as an officer ran up to the captain with a piece of paper and a USB.

"This is insane." He whined.

"Captain we got the warrant." The officer said handing the warrant the USB to the captain who put the USB into his scroll.

When he went through the files, he let out an impressed whistle.

"Well, well, you came into quite the fortune recently according to your bank records." The captain said.

"And according to our detective work two months ago was around the time you fired your only employee, I bet she did your finances too, so you got rid of her so she wouldn't see all this money going into your business account." Another officer said. "She was complaining about you online and filed a complaint to the Employment Standards Bureau."

"You didn't take long to spend it either." The captain said. "A down payment on a private island off the coast of Patch, a security deposit to an expensive former Huntsman PMC probably to protect your new home from Grimm, and a decent amount of shares in the SDC to keep the money rolling in, am I right?"

"Tell us the truth." Yu demanded, "And I bet the DA would be willing to cut you deal for being co-operative."

"Oh, and by the way, we talked to your new accountant, the one you hired from Cobweb Accounting, out in Mistral." The detective continued pushing.

"Who are they?" Yu asked.

"They're a shady outfit that helps the wealthy manage their finances no questions asked for a 'nominal' fee of course." The captain explained looking at Bourbon who was now going pale. "Their speciality though is Tax Evasion." Those two words seemed to do it, they caused all of the colour to vanish from Bournbon's face. "I wonder, if we dig deep, I bet your sentence would keep you behind bars until you die."

Bourbon let out a loud groan before giving in.

"Fine, what do you want to know?"

"What exactly did he want from you?" Yu asked. "If it was just one TV he would have kidnapped you to make sure you couldn't talk."

"He just said that he needed to buy fairly large solid screen TV's in bulk."

"It was more than that" Holmes said fixing his eyes on Bourbons "What was his exact wording when he made the order?"

"Do you want a deal or not?" The officer snapped.

"Alright, alright." Bourbon flinched "He said, he needed them big, big enough that you could crawl inside and he needed a lot of them."

"How many?"

"About a hundred."

"What about Adachi himself?" Yu asked. "Did he tell you to do something specific? something he needed you to be kept around for?"

"Well, he did say that there was one TV that I wasn't to let be sold under any circumstances, he didn't say why though."

"Show it to us." The captain demanded.

Bourbon nodded and nervously took out his keys and unlocked the door to the shop. He pushed open the door which jingled the bell near the top. Yu followed him, with Glynda and the captain close behind along with Holmes.

Rows of Televisions of all sizes and types sat on the shelves and stood in the middle of the store. The owner lead them to the right side of the store, they went along the row of TVs until he stopped at a fairly large plasma screen TV.

"This?" The captain asked raising his eyebrow. "Are you sure this is IT?!" The captain was shocked as Yu placed his hand on the screen which rippled and allowed his arm to phase through up to his shoulder.

"This is the entrance," Yu said pulling his arm back out.

"My word, it must be a semblance," Glynda said with astonishment.

"Captain, I need you to go back outside and get as many ambulances here as you can." He was about to object But Yu cut him off. "Those people are still alive, Adachi is a slacker, he wouldn't kidnap this many people unless he needed them for something, plus no bodies have turned up so they are still alive but will need medical attention when we free them."

"Got it, you come with me." The captain dragged Bourbon along with him. Neither of them noticed Holmes vanish and return to the Sea of Souls.

"You said we," Glynda noted.

"Yes, if it comes down to a fight I'll need you to take Jaune and Ruby back to the exit quickly," Yu told her.

"Very well, how do we do this?"

"Grab my arm and don't let go," Yu explained.

She did so and Yu put both his hands onto the screen and pushed his way through, he felt Glynda come with him as they tumbled down through the portal.

*BEEP**BEEP**BEEP**BEEP*

Ruby Rose groaned and blindly flailed her hand around before finding the source of the noise and hitting the snooze button to silence her alarm clock.

"Ruby, breakfast is ready," Yang called from down in the living room.

Ruby groaned and slowly sat up and stretched her arms as she yawned. Still only half awake she mindlessly went into the bathroom took a shower, brushed her teeth then went back into her room and put on her normal clothes and red cloak.

"Ruby!"

"I'm coming" Ruby yelled back before wandering down the hall and towards the stairs.

Halfway down her dad called up to her.

"Ruby please don't stomp down the stairs." He requested in an absent-minded tone.

"Sorry." She apologised and slowed down despite a familiar yet delicious smell filling her nostrils

As she got down the stairs she was greeted by Zwei.

"Morning Zwei." The dog barked a greeting in response as she stepped past him and towards the kitchen.

When she entered she saw Yang and her dad sat at the kitchen counter on stools. Near the stove, however, Ruby determined was the source of the delicious smell. It was a tray of chocolate chip cookies. She zoomed over to the tray and took a deep smell of the scent.

"Ah, cookies." She repeated just stopping herself from drooling. Ruby didn't need to look behind her to see her sister and father rolling their eyes.

Driven totally by instinct she reached down for one of the fresh cookies. Suddenly another hand grabbed hers and stopped it.

"Young lady, I've told you no cookies before breakfast."

Upon hearing the voice it was as if curtains in a dark room had been flung open letting in the bright sunlight. A haze she hadn't realised lifted. She remembered Beacon, Initiation, her team, her new class, going to the store with Jaune and then...nothing.

But it all was brushed aside at the impossibility of the situation, the woman who stood there holding her hand, with a familiar face, white cloak and silver eyes, the woman who she knew in her heart to be dead. Summer Rose.

"Mom?"
