AN: Hey everybody, it's good to be back to this fic. Real quick I want to talk to everyone about this story and its development. As I've mentioned before the direction its going has changed drastically from the initial plan. In the first plan there was no political plot points but with that one scene with Cardin and his grandpa things started spiraling down a new path. New direction means new change and old ideas not working as well. For example, Jaune's armor is very barbarian which I'm not sure how well it would fit with the whole idea of him being guided to taking over the ruling of Vale. If I'd planned the politic stuff from the beginning his armor might look more like what Weiss' grandfather's armor looked like in the paintings in Schnee manor. Point is, I'm updating things as it evolves and one of the points would be with the semblance options now that I've had more time to think on it. Teleport and the corrosive aura are still on the table, but a couple others seemed to fit the new path really well too. So, this chapter is a collection of little Omakes that cover the different potential semblances and how Jaune would use them, one Omake for each semblance. Please in the review tell me your thoughts on them, which ones you liked, which ones you didn't, and WHY. My goal is to become a full-time author eventually so feedback on stories like this is essential. Thanks everybody!
True Potential 11
Chapter 11
-Omake: Teleport-
"Come on Jaune, you need to move faster!" Annette laughed as she kept firing at him with a paintball gun for training, his sisters having decided to work on improving his reflexes and ability to dodge. The various splatters of paint on him showing that progress was slow.
"Try a backflip!" Blake shouted, sitting with the rest of his sisters and mother as they all sipped Lemonade, enjoying the show that was his pain.
"Make him look like a Jackson Pollock painting!" Daisy called out.
"Make a smiley face!" Kelly laughed.
"You are all evil!" Jaune cried as he ran, dodging paintballs aimed to take away his dignity, what little was left anyway.
"So many good options, so little time!" Annette cackled as Jaune's eye twitched. Feeling a tug in his gut, his aura flared for a moment but instead of putting up a shield like he expected there was a brief flash of white before he found himself behind a confused Annette. "What the-?" was all she got out before he managed to wrestle the paintball gun away from her. "…Oh shit. Um… mercy?"
"Nah." Jaune grinned, chasing after his sister as he fired, occasionally teleporting in front of her or to flank her. Semblances were awesome!
-Omake: Toxic Aura Cloak-
"Alright Jaune, let's try it again." His mother spoke, watching him seriously as he stood out in the training field, having found his semblance the day before while training with Blake and his sisters. It was dangerous though, so he needed his mother's help given her own ability to shut off people's semblances by looking at them. Jokes about it being just a mom power instead of a semblance aside, it was needed here. Picking up a cast weapon, he called on his semblance as a bubbling dark cloak of energy appeared all around him, spreading onto his weapon as he struggled to keep it contained and stable. Bellow his feet, he could hear the grass sizzling as he'd once again made the cloak go too far down his legs as it began killing the grass.
"Ignore the ground, try attacking." His mother ordered, pointing at a log as he nodded. Letting out a yell, Jaune charged, swinging the cast sword as it hit the log, the impact digging in somewhat before his toxic aura cloak began to melt and corrode into his target, the cast weapon taking some damage as well given he wasn't the best at controlling what was and wasn't affected just yet.
As he grit his teeth, pushing more effort into the attack, he felt the cloak growing stronger, fluctuating wildly before his mother's quirk triggered, her eyes glowing red as his own power shut down. "Better." His mom smiled once he stopped calling on the cloak, "You're improving Jaune and that's all that matters." Smiling proudly, he nodded to her, glancing back at the log which the dull cast sword had still cut over halfway through, his semblance having let it corrode, burn, and eat away at whatever was in its path.
-Omake: Bastion/Damage taker-
"What the hell do you mean no?!" an angry drunken voice slurred, glaring at Saffron. Jaune, Blake, and his sisters had all gone into town to relax at the pub and share stories, give their mom some time alone with little Adrian to unwind. What they hadn't intended was for one of his sister's old classmates to be at the bar too and for the asshole to still not be willing to accept that Saffron not only wasn't into him, she wasn't into dudes.
"I mean no. Do you need me to read you the dictionary definition?" Saffron was completely done with the asshole's bullshit as she glared back at him, "I knew you were stupid back in high school but if you're this bad now I don't understand how you ever graduated."
"Shut it you bitch!" the drunk yelled, throwing a wild punch at his sister's face that hit her aura, bruising his hand before six other Arc woman lunged, dragging the drunkard outside for a lengthy discussion via the tried and true Arc sign language, punching shit.
"Are you alright Saff?!" Terra fretted over her wife, aura or not it was still reasonable.
"It's fine Terra." Saff smiled, kissing her wife tenderly, "That guy was so wimpy I didn't even feel it on my aura levels." Pulling out her Scroll to check, Terra blinked confused "Wait…it didn't drop my aura levels."
"No," Jaune's eyes were wide as he looked at his own Scroll "it dropped mine."
"Say what?" Blake demanded, glancing at his phone to see that his own aura had dropped slightly.
"We need to be sure." Terra frowned, pulling over her fork as she pushed the tines against her own aura field. Her levels stayed the same while his took the drop.
"Well…looks like we found your semblance." Blake offered as he tried to figure out how to shut it off.
"And it's a damn good thing I have a shield."
-Omake: Ultimate eye (Like from Wrath the Furious in FMA brotherhood)-
"Get him!" Kelly shouted as the seven Arc sisters all leapt out of their hiding places, random pillows, squirt guns, and other prank tools in hand as they worked to make up for lost time on messing with him while he was home for a bit. Eyes wide, he flared his aura in response only for everything to start to slow down. He saw all his sisters barely moving, he saw where their squirt guns were aimed, he saw the tensing of their muscles, and he saw where he needed to move to avoid getting hit. Reacting, not taking a moment to think, Jaune scooped Blake into his arms bridal style as he moved, seamlessly avoiding every attack as his sisters inadvertently hit each other and crashed into one big pile, making a mess of themselves while he and Blake remained untouched.
"Jaune, your eyes!" Blake was starting at his eyes with an intensity that was making him blush, "They're glowing!"
"I saw everything. I saw where to go, what to do, and what they were going to do." Jaune couldn't keep the grin from his face, butterflied be damned.
"Your semblance is bullshit." Margaret groaned from the bottom of the pile of sisters.
-Omake: King's blessing-
"Why the hell wasn't anyone patrolling enough to find this thing?!" Jaune shouted angrily as he dodged yet another attack from the large King Taijitu who's heads were trying to eat himself, Blake, and Brittney.
"I don't know!" Brittney shouted as she dodged, she and Blake's weapons not doing enough damage to really punch through the creature while he just had his pistol which could also only do so much.
"We just need to hold out till your sisters see the flare and come help!" Blake shouted, using her semblance to avoid a strike as one of the heads got its teeth stuck in a tree.
"Jaune look out!" Brittney shouted, the other head having lunged for him, mouth open wide. Eyes wide, Jaune dropped his shield and pistol arms reaching out in a desperate attempt to hold back the fangs of the colossal beast. That's when he felt it, he felt the souls of his friends, his family. Everyone he cared about and trusted. He felt them, their faith in him, their loyalty, their friendship, their love. New strength started pouring into his muscles, fueled by the loyalty and trust his loved ones held in him. With a yell, he caught the upper and lower jaws of the massive snake grim before wrenching his arms apart as the jaws broke easily.
"W-what?" Blake gaped, stunned as Jaune gave a yell, wrenching the other head out of the tree and into his waiting fist as this awakened power surged, his blow caving in the second skull. As the adrenaline left though, so too did his grip on what could only have been a semblance, his legs giving out for a moment at the sudden loss of power.
-Omake: Dragon Form-
"So, what does it look like doctor?" Jaune's mother asked the family physician, a retired huntsman field medic, as they stood in the back of the Arc family manor, Jaune struggling to move about in the new dragon body he'd shapeshifted into. The man had been called the moment Jaune's semblance was found during a training session, the doctor's own ability to understand semblances he sees used being invaluable as a huntsman's doctor.
"Well your son's semblance is clearly this dragon form." The man moved about Jaune's new form, white scales shining brightly, "And it looks like the more Grimm he kills the more powerful this form will grow. At the moment it just takes focus to shift into it or back but if he exhausts himself, he'll revert back regardless." The doctor gave a playful chuckle as he poked one of Jaune's scaley ribs "Well my boy, now you're the Knight and the Dragon. All you need now is a princess."
"He's already on that!" Saffron shouted, pointing at Blake who blushed and squawked, Jaune's own fluster only hidden by his new scales.
-Omake: Ark form (Like in White Knight Chronicles) (look up the White Knight Chronicles transformations on you tube for a better idea, which Ark is used is still up for decision)-
"So Jaune, find your semblance yet?" Daisy asked as the siblings all sat down to lunch over leftovers, Jaune and Blake both suffering from their brains being fried due to excessive schoolwork.
"Not yet." He groaned miserably as he ate a slice of pizza, hoping the cheesy goodness would revitalize him.
"Well have you tried to see if you have the family semblance?" Kelly piped up, already on her fourth slice and second soda, where that girl put all the food, she inhaled was a mystery for the ages.
"Wait, family semblance?" Blake looked confused "Like the Schnee's?"
"Not really, everyone in the Schnee family has the same semblance." Jaune shook his head, "The 'Arc family semblance' isn't a guaranteed thing but has shown up a few times. It's turns the wielder into a giant suit of battle armor we call an 'Ark'. And no, not since I got rid of dad's cursed armor. It honestly didn't occur to me since the last one to have it was Ozmium himself. What was his, Larvayne the Vermillion Drake?"
"Yeah, the leveler of ancient lands." Annette nodded, "But you should try it!"
"Fine, fine, if it'll make y'all happy I'll try it." Jaune shook his head, eating his slice of pizza as he walked outside while the others watched from the window. Finishing his bit of lunch, he sat cross legged, meditating as he searched for the power as the past users had all described. After a while, he felt a warm energy in his core, the words coming forth.
"O' Adolmaea, Shining Sovereign, supreme light of the ancient skies, grant me your power. Verto!" golden light poured off of him as he let his power burst forth, feeling like he had the sun itself crammed under his skin. His new form stood tall, shining gold and ivory, flames ready to obey his command and the weapon of the Sun King held tightly in his grip.
-Omake: Inescapable duel-
"Come on Jaune, keep trying!" Joan ordered, the writer of the family having taken her turn to help try and coax out his semblance, "I want my baby bro to have a semblance to show off when he gets home!"
"I'm trying!" he grit out, pushing himself back to his feet, his energy starting to waver after fighting so many of his sisters.
"Try harder." She pressed even as Saffron started walking over to tag in. Fed up, something within him snapped as a ring appeared around himself and Joan, separating them from the others.
"What the?!" Saffron gaped, having walked into the barrier, pounding a fist on it as the barrier refused to budge for her, or for Joan who kicked at it.
"I can feel it." Jaune was transfixed as he ran his fingers along the barrier, innately understanding its purpose, "It's my semblance, an inescapable duel."
"A what now?" Joan turned back to him.
"When I use my semblance, me and my opponent or opponents get cut off from everyone else. Nobody can escape the fight and other people can't join in. the fight will last until the terms of victory that I set with it are met."
"…Oh, I can think of so many ideas for this." Joan rubbed her hands together eagerly as she pulled out her idea notebook.
"DON'T USE MY SEMBLANCE FOR PORN IDEAS DAMNIT!"
