"Right," The god of light said, slowly pushing herself into a standing position. "This next one might be a bit… harder to watch. Especially because there are a few things I need to explain to you." They all skeptically nodded, concerned that they were about to watch something terrible. "First. In this parallel universe, there are five elemental stones that if someone were to combine them, they could make reality whatever they wanted it to be at the snap of their fingers. Even I…" she trailed off. "Point is, you don't want bad people getting them. Bad people got them. Did bad things. It was reversed. And now the same bad people are trying to do worse with the stones."

"Couldn't someone else just use the stones to send the bad guys away?" Nora asked.

"You would have to be one of the most powerful beings in the universe to survive the process. It's not really an option." She cracked a small smile. "Ya know, fair isn't something one takes into consideration when balancing the universe. But this… this brings a smile to my face."

And with that, the universe began.

This one began with a battle worn Ruby looking over her shoulder at Ozpin. He held up a single digit. This was their one chance.

"One opportunity?" Nora asked.

"To seize everything you ever wanted?" Yang added.

"Mom's spaghetti!" Taiyang quickly added, just wanting to be included. Yang and Nora thought it was funny. No one else did.

Ruby looked at him in understanding, and nodded.

Meanwhile, Salem placed the final stone on a gauntlet, screaming from the gamma radiation coursing throughout her body. As a last ditch effort, Ruby dove at Salem, grabbing onto the gauntlet, only to be swatted away.

"I am… inevitable!" With those words, Salem snapped her fingers with a loud clunk. Shocked, the witch gazed down at the stones, only to find them missing.

Ruby has them on her own gauntlet.

There was an audible gasp in the theater, they had a passable understanding of what the stones did to a person. They'd only been told just a few minutes ago.

Gamma radiation coursing through her. She tenses up, but does not shout or scream. She takes a few deep breaths, staring Salem dead in the eyes, before uttering a final phrase; "And I… am… a huntress!" She punctuated her statement with a SNAP of her fingers.

This brought a proud smirk to most everyone in the audience. The exception being Sun and Neptune, who just thought the scene was bad ass and were hyped as hell.

There's a blinding flash of white that fills the screen.

We see Qrow fighting a Nevermore, that sweeps down and swallows him whole, only to disappear into ash, leaving him unharmed.

"Holy—" Jaune began.

"Shit." Qrow finished. He turned to Jaune, "Main characters aren't allowed to curse. This is a kid's show, Dammit!" Jaune just stared at him, very confused.

Salem's followers begin to fade to ash as well; Watts, Hazel, Cinder, Tyrian all gone.

Taiyang and Ghira look on in disbelief. Jaune sighs in a relieved exhaustion.

Salem, in horror, watches her army of Grimm disintegrate before her very eyes. She simply takes a seat before she herself is erased from existence.

"Who doesn't feel so good now, bitch!" The god of light shouted from the back. "Sorry," she said, regaining her composure and sitting back down. "Not sure what came over me."

Cut back to Ruby. The power of the gauntlet raw energy has left her entire right side fatally injured. She stumbles for a bit before her body collapses besides a pile of debris.

"She doesn't look so good." Pyrrha softly said.

The music softly swelled, and it pushed in on Ruby's face as she began to softly sing. "God on high. Hear my prayer. Take me now. To thy care. Where you are, Let me be! Take me now. Take me there! Bring me home! Bring me home…" her voice sizzled out, but she was not yet dead.

"I guess it's a musical now?" Weiss stated, very very confused by the mixing of the genres.

"I bless your name." A very similar voice sang.

"Who's that?" Sun asked.

"I am ready, mother." Ruby sang back.

"Nevermind."

"Lay Down your burden."

"At the end of my days."

"You raised my child with love." A feminine voice softly sang in Taiyang's ear.

"She's the best of my life." He answered without thinking. He turned to see who it was, and it was none other than Qrow. Tai put his palm on his old teammate's forehead and pushed. "That's enough fourth wall breaking for you!"

"And you will be with God!"

"Rubes!" A voice cried out. Ruby's fading attention was pulled back to the land of the living by her team rushing towards her.

"Now you are here, again beside me." Ruby sang. "Now I can die in peace. For my life is blessed."

"Something about her singing voice reminds me of a certain canuckle head." Qrow suddenly added, only to find himself on the receiving end of a squirt gun. He hissed as though it were holy water and he was a demon.

"I said no more fourth wall breaks!" Tai scolded him.

"It was a pop culture reference, not a fourth wall break!"

"I don't care!"

"You will live." Weiss sang back, fighting back tears, "dunce, you are going to live! It's too soon! Too soon to say goodbye!"

"Is it?" Blake asked, receiving many blank and questioning stares, "I mean, this looks like the end of a long and well thought out character arc of which we are only catching the tail end of.

There was a silence in the room as everyone thought about what the cat Faunas had just said….

Before Tai sprayed her with the squirt gun too. She hissed and climbed over and onto the back of her chair, pawing the air in Tai's direction.

"The fourth wall thing goes for all of you!" He waved the gun around and narrowed his eyes, before stopping on a snickering Yang.

She immediately stopped laughing and narrowed her eyes at her father.

"You're out of ammo, old man." She playfully said.

"I know what you're thinking… 'did he fire five shots… or six?' Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement, I've kinda lost track myself. But this being a top of the line Super Soaker, the most powerful in the world, and would mat your hair right down, you've got to ask yourself one question; 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya, punk?"

Yang slowly put her hands up.

"Good call." He simply said.

"Yes, my friends, forbid me now to die! I'll obey… I will try." She suddenly held out a small disk to them, her eyes telling them that she wasn't going to make it. "On this page,"

"That ain't a page, sister!" Nora shouted at the screen.

"I write my last confession. Read it well, when I, at last, am sleeping." She sang, "it's the story of one who turned from hating. A girl who only learned to love, when you were in her keeping!"

"That doesn't sound right." Weiss noted.

"Alternate universe!" Nora yelled back.

The sniffles and subdued sobs of her teammates could be heard, but said teammates could not be seen, as a white cloak dipped into view beside Ruby. It's owner kneeled down, singing in the same voice from earlier, "Come with me," the person dipped into frame to reveal that it was none other than Summer Rose. "Where chains will never bind you." She rested a hand on her daughter's shoulder. "All your grief; at last, at last behind you. Lord in heaven. Look down on her in mercy!"

WBY couldn't help but each crack a small smile at the idea of Ruby being reunited with her mother.

"Forgive me all my trespasses," Ruby weakly chimed in, "and take me to your glory." With those final words, Ruby slumped forward, exhaling a final breath.

Ruby Rose was dead.

"Oof." Was all that was said, by every inhabitant of the room.

It showed Team WBY's understandably distraught reactions to losing their leader. Weiss was ugly crying, Yang was sobbing into her hands, and Blake just stared sadly at the corpse of one of her closest friends.

"Take my hand," Summer continued, "I'll lead you to salvation." Ruby could now be seen, walking hand and hand with her mother away from her own corpse. "Take my love," Summer releases Ruby's hand and stays behind while Ruby continues on. "For love is everlasting." Summer finished, turning back to WBY.

"And remember," Ruby and Summer both sang, as Ruby stepped through a doorway. A man's voice suddenly joined in, and they could see the outline of a man in front of Ruby. "The truth that once was spoken." It cut to reveal the man as the one and only Monty Oum.

"Who's that?" Jaune asked.

"A friend." Was all the god of light said, rather fondly.

He held out a hand to Ruby, "To love another person is to see the face of God!" Ruby took one last look back at her friends before joining Monty.

"There's your Bygone Jim moment." Nora said.

"I'm not even going to pretend like I know what that means." Ren simply said.

Jaune stared at his fallen friend in disbelief. The screen shows the unbelieving reactions of SSSN, JNR, CFVY, Ghira, Kali, TRQ. Even CRDL.

Then, Cardin did something none of them ever thought they'd see. He kneeled. For Ruby of all people, and then he began to sing.

"Do you hear the people sing?" The rest of CRDL dropped into a kneel. "Lost in the valley of the night." They all sang. Ghira turned, saw the boys kneeling and followed suit. "It is the music of a people," Kali followed Ghira. "Who are climbing to the light."

They all just kind of watched in astonishment as the people they knew, some of which had never met Ruby in their timeline, knelt for the fallen girl.

Next to kneel was Jaune, who tiredly dropped himself to one knee, rather than carefully set himself down like everyone else had done. He was obviously injured.

"You okay there, Jaune?" Pyrrha asked.

"Never." He quickly responded.

"For the wretched of Remnant," he continued alongside those already kneeling.

"There is a flame that never dies," Sun dropped, then Neptune. Sage and Scarlet watched their teammates kneel, then hesitantly did the same.

Yang loudly snorted, "they're just like, 'should we—? Eh, screw it'!"

"Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise!" Qrow kneeled next, looking sad to have seen Ruby go, but proud of the woman she'd become. Tai just looked heartbroken as he kneeled. "They will live again in freedom," Even Raven seemed to be saddened by Ruby's death, kneeling alongside her teammates, "In the garden of the Lord!"

"Raven wouldn't kneel to anyone, so you know she respects Rubes." Qrow said with a small smile.

"We will walk behind the ploughshare," Ren sang, kneeling in unison with Nora, "We will put away the sword!"

Ozpin kneeled next, his face laced with regret, "the chain will be broken, and all men will have their reward!"

There were several sweeping shots of CFVY, Ironwood, Penny, and Winter all kneeling, and singing. "Will you join in our crusade? Who will be strong and stand with me?" It cut between different groups of kneeling people as they continued to sing. "Somewhere beyond the barricade is there a world you long to see? Do you hear the people sing?"

"What do you guys think that place was before the battle?" Yang suddenly blurred out.

"What? You mean the place where they're all kneeling?" Jaune asked. "Maybe like someone's house. Weiss' house?"

"Airport." Weiss chimed in. "I'm betting it was an airport."

"Military Outpost." Blake guessed.

"I agree with the emo one." Qrow said, earning a glare from Blake.

"I bet it was a whole city that was flattened by the awesome battle!" Nora chimed in.

"No, it was probably one or two large buildings. Maybe a hangar." Ren said.

"It was an Atlas funded headquarters for a task force assembled for the sole purpose of preventing cataclysmic events." The god of light suddenly cut in.

"What, like the Future Foundation?" Weiss asked.

"Sure."

"What were they called?" Jaune suddenly asked.

"They were known as the Avengers. Remnant's mightiest heroes."

"Say, do you hear the distant drums? It is the future that they bring when tomorrow comes! Will you join in our crusade, who will be strong and stand with me?" It cut to Ruby, presumably in the afterlife, smiling down on them. "Somewhere beyond the barricade is there a world you long to see?" It cut back to the JNR, and CFVY kneeling. "Do you hear the people sing?" It cut back to Ruby, who was now singing, then to CRDL, Ghira and Kali. "Say, do you hear the distant drums? It is the future that they bring when tomorrow comes!" Back to Ruby as they all began to harmonize. It built and built, cutting to a sweeping shot of the kneeling people, then to Jaune for half of the final line before cutting back to Ruby for the rest. "Tomorrow comes!" They held that final note, as the camera pulled away from the group of kneeling people. The song ended with a flourish and it cut to black.

"So more about these Avengers…" Weiss began. "Who leads them?"

"Previously?" GoL asked, "Jaune Arc. After him? Ruby Rose. Then Blake Belladonna. Then Jaune Arc again."

"Wait, I led the team after Ruby died?" Blake asked.

"Yeah."

"Why don't I anymore?"

"Oh, you went totally psycho, took on a powerful entity, tried to remake the world as you wanted it, got bodied by a future version of Ruby's daughter from another timeline, who was also a faunas, and used the leftover power to rekindle the faunas population on Remnant. It had been dying out due to a very powerful psychic uttering the phrase, 'no more faunas' and getting rid of almost all of you."

"This is a really interesting timeline." Jaune suddenly piped up. "Tell us more."

"I'll tell you what Ruby was involved in so we can at least stay on topic." GoL conceded. "Right before what you just saw, there was a schism between Ruby and Jaune that temporarily broke up the Avengers. Jaune opened a school on one side of the planet, Ruby on the other, and they both did things their way. Jaune's philosophy was to let kids be kids. Ruby's was that a storm was coming and letting kids be kids was not a luxury they could afford. They got into an all out brawl. Some things were said."

"This is all sounding very comic book-y." Jaune pointed out. "Does Ruby ever come back to life?"

"She's actually the only one who ever stays dead. I wanted her death to mean something. To give her some much needed rest. Jim Shooter ain't bringing her back behind my back." The God of Light explained.

"Jim who?" Yang asked.

"Don't worry about it."

A/N: Sorry about that, got a bit too deep into the lore. If you couldn't tell, everything the god of light tells them is X-Men history (ex. House of M, Schism, Wolverine & The X-Men, Avengers Vs X-Men, with a little Dark Phoenix reference stuffed in there at the end.) The scene is Avengers: Endgame, and the song is the Epilogue from Les Misérables.

This was a lot of fun to write, and I tried to keep this Death scene as light hearted as possible without poking fun at the death of their close friend.
