Welcome back Y'all. So I know that the last chapter was rather boring and didn't have much development in it, but I forgot to say this last time and I'm too lazy to go back and edit it but I planned to keep going on that chapter until I realized that it would have been stupid long and I didn't want to keep you guys waiting any longer and tbh I just didn't want to have to proofread like 20k words. So this chapter starts right where the last one ends, and is almost an extension to it, so hopefully, this one won't be a disappointment. Also, for those of you that read the A/N about where I have been and why I hadn't updated the story, you already know this, but for those that haven't since I'm going to remove it, I currently work in the field of Fire/EMS and this whole virus thing is making my job suck right now since I'm always busy, so it might be more than a month between chapters, so sorry for the wait (not). So with all that said and done, Enjoy!
Tama was currently walking towards where Nala had gone, wondering if she had found Simba yet as she was bored out of her mind and wanted someone to talk to. Tama heard someone running in the grass in front of her and looked up to see that Nala shot out from it, and wondered where she was running to or what she was running from.
"Nala?" Tama asked, wondering what was going on.
"Can't talk now" Nala said with a chuckle, looking behind her before continuing to run back towards Pride Rock, making Tama wonder what was going on. Tama heard another person running towards her from the tall grass and looked over to see that Simba emerged from the tall grass this time, looking over at her with a slightly surprised look, before looking past her and seeing Nala, and taking off after her.
Tama was unsure of what was going on, and curiosity got the better of her, and she took off after the two, wanting to know why Nala was running away from him. Tama could see from a distance as Nala ran up into Pride Rock, turning around and laughing into Simba's face, before Simba wrapped her into a hug and fell over, taking her with him, and heard laughing from over the edge of Pride Rock.
Tama rushed up the hill that led to Pride Rock and once at the top, saw that Simba was pinning Nala down, tickling the side of her face with his muzzle, and Nala looked helpless to resist. Tama then realized that they were probably racing back to Pride Rock, and since Nala won, Simba was taking his revenge.
"Stop" Nala shrieked in laughter, starting to feel lightheaded from all the laughing she was doing and felt him stop and kiss her cheek. "You know I hate it when you do that" Nala said with a chuckle while she stood up.
"Do you?" Simba said in a sarcastic voice, knowing that she didn't.
"Ok, maybe not but at least have some mercy" Nala said, playfully nuzzling into him, and felt him return her nuzzle.
"Uh..." Tama said from the side after watching them cuddle for a few seconds, figuring that now would be the best time to get their attention. Tama watched as both Simba and Nala looked over at her with a confused look, not having realized that she was standing there the entire time, and Tama felt a small urge to chuckle. "Whatcha doing?" Tama asked, already knowing that they were playing a game but wasn't sure was else to say to get a conversation going.
"Messing around" Nala said, nuzzling in under Simba's chin.
"Huh..." Tama said, wishing that she could join in as she was still bored, but didn't want to interrupt their little moment.
"Come on, help me get at Simba" Nala said, wrapping her arms around Simba and pushing off the ground, but bearly made him budge. Tama smiled as she walked up to him, watching as he also had a playful look on his face, and Tama dove down at his legs and tripped him, using a hunting technique to account for their size and strength difference, and upon doing this, quickly flipped over and pinned him.
"How's it feel now?" Nala said, also pinning him down and licking the side of his face, trying to make him laugh, but wasn't having much of an effect on him.
"Like bedtime" Simba said with a chuckle, feeling like the girls were ready for bed, but he wasn't, and resorting to pinning him so they had a source of softness and warmth to last them throughout the night.
"It is getting late" Nala said, never being opposed to cuddling into him a few hours early.
"It's barely past noon" Simba said with a chuckle, knowing that Nala was just looking for an excuse to cuddle.
"And?" Nala asked, wondering why that meant they couldn't lay down in Pride Rock all afternoon and not move until sunrise.
"And there's still a whole day to be doing stuff" Simba said, wondering why she wanted to turn in when there were several hours of daylight left.
"Exactly, Like cuddling" Nala said with a chuckle, before rolling off of him. "I'm just teasing you" Nala said with a chuckle, leaning down and gently kissing him. "Although If you'd like to I wouldn't say no" Nala finished, and watched as he rolled his eyes with a chuckle.
"Maybe later" Simba said, swatting up at her head as Tama was still pinning him down, and watched as Nala leaned down and kissed him, before turning around and walking in the den. Simba watched her enter the den and lay down, resting her eyes, and couldn't stop thinking about how beautiful she was when she was laying like that when he heard a small purr, and look back over to see that Tama wasn't happy that he wasn't giving her any affection now that they were alone.
"I haven't forgotten about you" Simba said with a chuckle, leaning up and nuzzling her, and feeling her return it. "Although, I've been meaning to talk to you" Simba finished.
"Go ahead" Tama said, snuggling into his fur with a purr, and felt him gently push her up, breaking her snuggle, making her wonder what was going on.
"I'm being serious" Simba said, laying up and breaking the pin she had on him with ease, and saw she didn't look to be that happy that he was breaking up their playful moment to talk about more serious things. "Look, I'm sorry but I need to talk to you, specifically about your anger issues" Simba said, and heard her scoff a bit.
"I don't have anger issues, I just get moody" Tama said, not liking it when people said she had anger issues because she didn't.
"Ok... well more about your consistency of punching me in the face when you get mad" Simba said, and watched as her look went from annoyed to concerned and guilty.
"I didn't... hurt you, did I?" Tama asked, knowing she had punched him in the face yesterday and was fearing that she had hurt him but he didn't tell her.
"No... but auntie wasn't happy about it. She wants me to talk to you about it and try to get you to calm down in situations like that" Simba said, and watched as Tama frowned a bit, making him wonder what was going on in her head.
"I know…" Tama said, knowing she got out of control when he got hurt.
"I'm not saying you shouldn't be concerned or scared about me being ok, I understand that part, but you need to learn to calm down" Simba said, hoping she would be able to do that in the future.
"I know, it's just you got hit by a buffalo. Most people don't survive that so I was mad you risked your life like that" Tama said, trying to defend herself the best she could.
"But in general, if and when I get hurt, can you try and remain as calm as possible?" Simba asked, hoping that she could at least be more understanding in different situations that were more likely to happen.
"I'm almost always calmer than Nala is, it's just that you could have died, and that to me was just…. well… it just upset me more than usual" Tama said, not wanting to have to talk about her feelings, but knew that he was just trying to help her.
"You didn't think that I would die without asking for your permission did you?" Simba said sarcastically, and Tama took this as a sign that the seriousness of the situation was gone and she could return to being playful.
"Of course not, because then I would have to punish you for all of eternity" Tama said, moving over and pinning him down once again, watching as he smiled at her when she did this.
"Seeing as your methods of punishment usually involve nuzzling and other affectionate behavior, I could get used to it" Simba said, looking over to the side out towards the savanna, and then back at Tama, and then back towards the savanna after having thought to see something.
Simba could see a single hyena running in the distance, and it wasn't long until he saw several more hyenas chasing him, and knew exactly who it was and exactly what was going on. "Ah shit…" Simba said, before pushing Tama off him and sprinting after the group, hoping Jason didn't get himself into an even worse situation this time.
Tama was leaning down to kiss Simba to get his attention, and was abruptly pushed off with a curse and saw him run off, making her wonder what was wrong. Tama took off after Simba, wondering where he was going and why their little moment had to be ruined.
Simba continued to run in the direction of the hyenas, and soon saw them on the other side of a hill, and sprinted over to catch up to them, being able to hear Jason yell insults and taunts to keep them lured. Upon reaching them, Simba was able to max out five hyenas chasing Jason, and moved in to resolve the issue.
Jason looked over his shoulder to yell another insult when he saw Simba in the background, and came to a sudden stop, and saw the hyenas corner him between a tree.
"Finally out of breath?" A hyena said as he took a step towards Jason.
"No, I've been saving it for the fight" Jason said, and heard them all snarl and get into fighting positions.
"You mean the massacre?" The hyena said, knowing that a five to one fight against him couldn't be lost.
"Trust me, you'd need an army to stop what's coming" Jason said, looking past him to see Simba charging them, and then could make out that overprotective moody lioness that he always ran into emerging behind him, knowing that the odds just got even better.
"Oh yeah, and what's that?" The hyena said, taking another step forward, and saw that Jason was smirking.
"Have a look for yourself" Jason said, quickly moving to the side to dodge the hyena's body when Simba would slam into him.
The hyena looked behind him and had just enough time to see Simba, before being knocked out cold. The remaining hyenas looked over in surprise to see Simba, and all panicked, knowing who he was.
"Oh shit, it's Red Mane!" One of them said, turning around and running away, not wanting to look like the few guys that came limping back after having attempted to fight him.
Simba charged at the others, knocking three of them out back to back, and then grabbed the hyena who was trying to flee by the tail and pulled him back.
Tama was running down the hill to assist Simba, ready to kill each and every one of them for threatening his safety when in a few seconds they were all on the ground and the other was desperately trying to escape.
"Good afternoon" Simba said towards the hyena as he walked up to him, and grabbed him by the leg as he got up to run away.
"Please, wait! I'll tell you everything I know just don't break my leg" The hyena said, knowing that every time a group of hyenas fought him it always ended up with someone breaking a leg.
"And what information do you know that I would want?" Simba asked, wondering what the hyena had that would be at all a use to him.
"Uh… well… ok fine, I got nothing but please don't do nothing to me. I'm after him and not anyone else I swear" the hyenas said, pointing at Jason, hoping that Simba would spare him mercy as he never wanted to hurt a member of his pride.
"Very well. Leave" Simba said, letting go of his leg. Simba saw that the hyena appeared to be a little confused at first that Simba was letting him leave, but quickly got up and ran away, not wanting him to change his mind.
"What are you doing?!" Tama asked, wondering why Simba was letting him go.
"He was no use to us" Simba said, not seeing a reason to either knock him out or hold him hostage any longer.
"But he's one of them. He'll just come back later and be a problem" Tama said, wondering why Simba thought that it was a good idea to let him go.
"We'll talk about this later" Simba said, glancing over at Jason and that back over at her. Simba saw Tama give him an annoyed look, and Simba knew what was going to happen.
"I'm not leaving" Tama said, wanting to know what business Simba had with a hyena, especially one that wanted him dead for a long time.
"I can fill you in later" Simba said, knowing that Jason wouldn't talk until they were alone.
"If you're going to fill me in later, why can't I just listen in" Tama said, wanting to know what was going on between him and Jason.
"Because I said so" Simba said, and then realized that he probably should have been so harsh towards Tama. Simba saw anger flash across her eyes, and knew that he wasn't going to be able to avoid this conversation, and motioned for Jason to leave. Once Jason was far enough away from the two of them, Simba looked back at Tama to see that she had an expression that told him she wanted answers.
"We just want to figure out what these guys want besides killing me" Simba said, hoping that Tama would leave it at that and not press the matter any farther.
"Simba..." Tama started, before releasing a small sigh and gathering her thoughts. "I don't want to sound like an overreactive bitch, but don't you think that I, or maybe someone else from the pride could help you with the same thing if not do it any better?" Tama asked, wondering why Simba was getting help from a hyena rather than his pride.
"Because Jason has information that no one else on my side has. While I'd much rather have you or someone else from this pride as an ally, he's the only one who's going to help me figure out who wants me dead" Simba said, wanting to talk some sense into Tama.
"I... Fine. I'll see you tonight" Tama said, nuzzling into him before walking back to Pride Rock. Simba knew that this conversation wasn't over yet and that Tama still had a lot to say on the matter, but was at least glad that he was able to talk her down without causing her to get moody.
"He's coming for you..." Simba heard, and turned around to see that one of the hyenas was awake. Simba walked over to the hyena and saw that the hyena was still afraid of him, and Simba wondered who the hyena was talking about.
"Who?" Simba asked, not expecting the hyena to be any use to him, but decided that he would at least try and get some information out of him if he could.
"You know who. If he didn't want you to know his name then he would have made sure your father wouldn't have survived the fall" the hyena said with a laugh towards the end. "He's been waiting a long time to meet the runt that is Mufasa's son" the hyena added.
"Well, then what is he waiting for?" Simba asked, wondering why Scar hadn't sought him out yet as he had the power to do so.
"He's had other things to attend to, but now that you're all that's left in his past, he'll be coming for you" the hyena said, watching as his words didn't seem to affect Simba.
"Well, then you may tell your leader that if he wants to meet me in the gorge at midnight I'd be more than happy to talk to him face to face. If he's not scared to that is" Simba said, wanting this hyena to crawl back to his master and get him to finally reveal himself.
"Then I'd make sure you spend these last few hours wisely, as they may be your last" the hyena said and watched as Simba smirked.
"That just makes me all the more excited to meet him" Simba said with a small chuckle at the end, and watched as the hyena looked at him with a confused look, wondering what was wrong with Simba for him to be excited about such an event. Simba winked at the hyena before walking away, wondering in the back of his mind why Scar wanted to meet him now compared to other times.
(TLKTLKTLKTLKTLK)
After walking around for a while, only being able to think about Scar, Simba found himself standing at the top of a tall hill that overlooked the Pride Lands, and stopped. Simba looked across the Pride Lands and sat down, wondering how he was going to manage to run this place when he wasn't even two. Simba knew that he had been doing it for a few days already, but he hadn't encountered any major problems so far and when he did, he wasn't even sure if he'd be able to solve them.
"I'm sorry dad" Simba said. "I'm sorry I wasn't there to stop Scar before he pushed you. I know you're probably happy with her up there and are proud of me and all... I just wish that I had more time. I wasn't ready to be king... but they needed me to... So I'll do my best not to let you down..." Simba said, knowing that both his mother and father could hear him, and wanted to reassure them he would try his best.
"Simba?" Simba heard and turned around to see that Sarafina and Alana were standing behind him with concerned looks on their faces, and Simba had a good idea that they overheard him.
"Hey..." Simba said, watching as they walked up to him and gave him supportive nuzzles, and knew they weren't going to leave anytime soon.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Sarafina said, wondering why Simba would keep that from her when all she ever wanted to do was help and protect him.
"I don't know..." Simba said, looking down and felt her gently push his head back up so that he was looking at her, and Simba saw for the first time that he could remember that Sarafina had a hurt look in her eyes, making him feel guilty.
"Simba I'm here to help you. To protect you. I can't do that if you won't let me" Sarafina said, wondering why he never told her. Even though Sarafina had to choose her cubs over him, she had always done everything in her power to make sure he was safe.
"I know" Simba said, wishing that he could have been more careful and made sure no one was around before talking out to his father like that.
"I ruled over my Pride for several years Simba. If this is too much for you I'd be more than happy to help you" Alana said, wanting Simba to know that he wasn't alone in this struggle and that she would be there for him when he needed her.
"Thanks" Simba said, feeling as they started to nuzzle into him again. After what felt like several minutes of comforting gestures, Simba felt Sarafina pull away and look into his eyes, making him wonder what she was thinking.
"You mentioned a name. Someone who pushed your father. Who was it?" Sarafina said, having heard that he said something that sounded like what would have been a name, but she and Alana were still too far away to make it out. Sarafina saw Simba wear a hesitant look, and knew he was debating on whether he should tell her, making her all the more suspicious.
"Scar..." Simba said, and watched as her pupils dilated.
"Scar?!" Sarafina said, grabbing him by the mane and pulling him over to her so that he could tell her upfront that she had heard him right.
"Yea, he's the one who's been after me this whole time" Simba said, wondering why she was so scared of him. After all, he was only one lion, and seeing as he needed hyenas to do his dirty work, he probably wouldn't be that hard to beat if he could find him while he was alone.
"What... but... No. That's impossible. It can't be him" Sarafina said, and Simba could see that she had a bit of fear in her eyes.
"Who is he anyway and why are you making such a big deal about it?" Simba asked, and looked over to see that even Alana looked to be a little nervous about whoever scar was.
"Well... He's Mufasa's brother. Your Uncle" Sarafina said, and watched as Simba looked to be shocked. "He tried to kill the king, kill Mufasa, kill Sarabi, and now he must be trying to kill you" Sarafina said, knowing that Scar was demented and would stop at nothing to claim the throne.
"Wait, what? My uncle is the one trying to kill me? Also, why couldn't he be alive?" Simba asked, wondering why Sarafina had kept Scar a secret from him and why she thought that it couldn't be him.
"He would stop at nothing to kill you and take Pride Rock for himself. When he tried to kill your mother, Ahadi had to stop him. He had gone too far. Ahadi banished him, and after one final attempt at vengeance, Ahadi put a stop to him once and for all" Sarafina said.
"Well clearly he's still alive" Simba said, wondering how he survived if King Ahadi has supposedly killed him.
"Which means you're in even greater danger than I thought. If Scar is hunting you, you'll need to be careful until we put an end to him" Sarafina said, knowing that he was a genius at making people disappear.
"I can put an end to him tonight. He had a hyena tell me to meet him in the gorge" Simba said, and watched as Sarafina looked ready to explode.
"Wha... You... No. Absolutely not. You may be king but I will not let you face him. It's a trap. He'll kill you" Sarafina said, wondering what Simba was even thinking when he decided it would be a good idea to go.
"Of course it's a trap. And if it's not to kill me then it's a trap to get me away from Pride Rock while he sends a pack of hyenas after Pride Rock. I accepted to meet him there and I have to do this" Simba said.
Sarafina was a little surprised that Simba knew it was going to be a trap, and even more so that he had considered it might just be a diversion, as that's how scar tended to be, but still thought it was unnecessary for Simba to confront scar.
"You have nothing to prove to anyone if this is some sort of move to show him you're brave and not afraid to meet your problems head-on Simba. You have my trust, and trust of your pride. What more do you need?" Sarafina asked, hoping he wasn't doing this to prove to them he could be brave.
"That's not what this is about Auntie. I'm not trying to prove my worth as a king. I want to show Scar that he's going to have to try much harder than sending some poorly trained hyenas after me if he wants my throne" Simba said, and saw that his argument had no effect on either Sarafina or Alana and they both looked to be against the idea of him going.
"I... It's too dangerous, and you don't have an heir" Sarafina said, trying to win the argument to keep Simba away from that monster.
"Aunite. I'm not asking for your permission" Simba said gently, not wanting to make it seem like he was yelling at her, but still wanted her to know that he was going to do this with or without her help.
Simba watched as Sarafina released a sigh, looking at him with a look that was pleading him to change his mind, and Simba felt a little guilty that he wasn't going to listen to her on the choice but knew this was something he was going to have to do.
"Then... at least let me come with you" Sarafina said, wanting to be there so she could do her part in protecting him.
"Of course" Simba said, and watched as Sarafina wore a grateful look. "I was supposed to come alone but I don't expect scar to play fairly" Simba added, and saw Sarafina wear a small smile, and was glad that she wasn't totally upset.
"He never did" Sarafina said, remembering back to how twisted Scar was.
"I think Tama should come" Simba said, and saw that both Sarafina and Alana had looks that told him they were questioning whether his decision was right.
"Are you sure you want Tama and not someone better tempered?" Alana asked, knowing that Tama was a great fighter for her age but her anger clouded her judgment, and Alana feared that Tama would do something stupid and cause unnecessary conflict.
"She'll do fine" Simba said sounding a little unsure himself, which didn't help convince his aunts at all. Simba saw that they still seemed to doubt him, but watched as they nodded after a few seconds, accepting his choice.
"You should brief her" Sarafina said, knowing that Tama was going to have a lot of questions and wanted to make sure that she had time to think this over as it was situations like these that Tama often failed to fully comprehend.
"Yea..." Simba said, wondering what, if at all, should he tell the others, unsure if it was best to inform everyone or other those who needed to know right now. "What are you going to do" Simba asked, and saw the two of them look over at each other.
"We're going to inform your other aunts. Meet us at the bottom of Pride Rock at sunset" Sarafina said, knowing that they would need more than just four lions to take on scar since it was most definitely a trap of some sort.
Simba nodded his head and watched as they both walked up to him and gently nuzzled into him, before walking away to go and find Matimba and Khanya. Simba watched them for a few seconds, before turning towards Pride Rock to find Tama, wondering how to explain this to her, and then, finally being able to meet the man that wants him dead...
I could have extended this to something were there all in the gorge and then drop the cliff hanger but I'm a lazy piece of shit and I should have posted this a while ago, so don't complain. Anyway that all for this time, so as always, Mr_Toast out!
