What d'you think of this tune, Joel?"

Joel smiled at the peaceful sound of sweet music filled the air. It was being made by the auburn-haired girl sitting before him with the guitar he had taught her to play. Ever since their life-changing journey together, things had become more peaceful for the two of them. After saving her life, Joel hadn't had to deal with anymore Fireflies or Infected. All he had to take care of was the fourteen-year old who he had become a father figure to.

"You're playing good, baby girl." Joel reached forward from his armchair to gently ruffle the youth's hair. "You're playing good."

"Not bad for a girl who spent most of her life in a military base!" Ellie grinned before lowering her gaze, her fingers strumming away endlessly on the guitar strings. "I'd never known a life like this before I met you … I'd never have even lived to experience it if it weren't for you."

Joel's gaze softened. He had become very protective towards the young girl through their journey together – especially after he had lost his daughter. Having grown to care for Ellie in the same way that he had for Sarah before she was taken from him, he was not willing to let the same thing happen to her.

"Look! I've even learnt something which pro-guitarists do!"

Joel was snapped out of his awed thoughts towards the girl he'd become a father to as she did something which made him nearly him jump out of his skin.

Ellie swung her guitar through the air before striking it on the floor as hard as she could. It instantly smashed into pieces, causing Joel to leap up with surprise. His eyes widened as the red-haired teenager ran around the lounge, hitting anything she could find with the instrument. Joel could only watch as his furniture and ornaments that filled his living room were wrecked. The sound of the nice music that had just been filling the room was replaced by loud crashing and breaking noises.

When she'd completely destroyed the guitar, Ellie was looking very pleased with herself. She gazed up with a naïve smile at a stunned Joel. After what she had just done in front of him, she was expecting him to be very proud of her.

"Wasn't that cool? I just had to try it when I found out today that's what pro-guitarists do!"

"They sure do..." Joel nodded slowly. "...when they have the cash the afford a new one. I hope you'll still have some left to get yourself a new one, Ellie, when you're done buying replacements for all the stuff you just destroyed in this house."

Ellie's face fell. She looked around at what was left of the household items she had just broken. She was stunned by all the ruins she had made. With her mouth falling open, her shocked gaze dropped onto her wrecked guitar as it dawned on her she didn't have a cent to spend on getting a replacement.

"Oh..." Ellie murmured, realising her mistake. "...shit!"
