Day Two
The three stooges (Mina, Serena, and Jason) were recovering all morning, then the afternoon was spent on the beach. Zayne and Amy went walking at a nearby boardwalk. Raye was in the water swimming with Lita as the blondes kept away from the sun under the umbrella.
"I'm so bored!" Mina cried.
"Same, can we go to that karaoke place we saw yesterday?"Jason asked.
"You sing?" Mina questioned.
"He's as good as you," Serena stated.
"Duet tonight?" Mina and Jason promised each other.
Mina suggested to the group to do karaoke. All agreed and got dressed to go. The place was packed as they saw drunk people attempting to sing. Amara signaled for the group to join her and Michelle. Trista was there as well, but no Malcolm.
"Are you going to sing?" Michelle asked.
Mina nodded and placed her name with Jason's on the list. When their name was called, the group had their phones ready on Livestream. Raye wanted to embarrass Jason and support Mina. Serena wanted to record Raye's face when she heard Jason singing.
The two got on stage and Mina whispered the song to Jason. Jason smiled. They waited until the beat began. "Into the Unknown" from Frozen 2 began. The two sang, taking one line each. When the chorus hit, they harmonized causing the audience to clap and sing along with them. When the song was over, the crowd demanded an encore. The owner of the club begged them for another performance. Mina and Jason sang "We don't talk anymore" by Charlie Puth featuring Selena Gomez. Mina and Jason decided to dance and "flirt" with each other on stage. The audience ate it up and some began dancing. Serena grabbed Raye and Lita and started dancing with them.
"Are you upset?" Serena asked Raye.
Raye rolled her eyes and continued dancing. Raye looked at Jason. He winked at her as he sang. When the song was over, the owner handed Mina and Jason a small trophy for best performance. The owner whispered in Mina's ear for a quick second. Mina shook her head and walked back to friends. Jason followed her and asked Raye to dance to the next song. She agreed.
"He asked for your number or something else?" Lita asked.
"Something else," Mina laughed. "I need a drink. Any requests?"
"I'll go with you," Lita said.
"Me too, there are too many couples here." Serena looked at Raye dancing Jason, Zayne whispering in Amy's ear. Amara laughing with Michelle. Trista was already at the bar. The girls joined her. The bartender gave Mina a free drink for her performance. Mina winked at him and bought drinks for the rest of the girls.
"In times like these, I wish I wasn't single," Lita said as she drank her scotch.
"What do you mean?" Serena asked.
Lita pursed her lips towards all the couples in the place. Mina and Serena laughed. Trista looked at the girls with her eyebrows raised.
"Who gives a f-" Serena began, but was cut off by a familiar male entering the building.
"Darien!" Trista called out and waved at him. Serena turned to Trista. "He wanted to come too, but he couldn't get a flight until this morning. He didn't tell you."
"No!" Serena yelled. She groaned. She was debating whether on walking away, but she didn't want to give Darien that power. She unbuttoned her top two buttons from her crop top and fixed her bra to make them ampler. Mina quickly fixed Serena's hair to accentuate her facial features. Lita and Trista shook their heads.
Darien smiled at the ladies, greeting them (except Serena), and ordering a drink. Serena glanced at her two best friends. Mina's eyes were wide and her mouth opened. Lita glared at Darien's rudeness. Serena scoffed and walked away. Lita and Mina following her.
"I'm going home," Serena told Raye and Amy.
"Should we leave with you?" Amy asked.
"No way, I'm staying," Raye said and dragged Jason to the dancefloor as the place turned into a club after a winner was announced.
"Heathen," Serena said as she stuck her tongue out at a long-gone Raye. "And Nah, I'll go by myself. I've embarrassed myself today. I need to go."
Lita ordered a taxi for Serena and the three girls plus Zayne waited with her.
"So how did you embarrass yourself?" Zayne asked.
Serena explained what happened ten minutes ago. Zayne laughed. Amy blushed.
"Can you believe that?" Mina yelled causing some people to look at her.
"Mina's drunk," the girls announced.
"Maybe you have to go home too," Lita said.
Mina cried out how much she didn't want to. Lita had to promise Mina sugar cookies to convince her to go home as well. Lita decided to leave since she didn't want to be the fifth wheel. When the taxi arrived, Serena entered the car and waited for the girls to enter. However, a tall black-haired male decided to enter the car and give another address.
"What are you doing?" Serena asked.
"We need to talk," Darien said, looking at Serena in the eyes. "I asked Lita to take another cab home."
"I can't believe you."
"We will talk more later."
Serena ignored him throughout the ride. When they got to their destination, Darien paid him and grabbed Serena's hand and led her to his hotel room. The same one that Amara and the rest of their gang were staying at. They reached his hotel room and Serena refused to enter.
"Seems like you want to be in your hotel bed, but not your real one?" Serena questioned with disdain in her voice.
Darien sighed. "Please, enter the room."
Serena entered slowly and sat on the desk chair across from the best. Darien sat on the King-sized bed.
"So?" Serena crossed her right leg over her left as she waited for Darien to speak.
"I hate loose girls," Darien began. Serena stood quiet. "And...I thought that day you were being loose with me. It turned me off so I rejected you. I don't do one night stands or friends with benefits. I'm not that type of guy. The woman I sleep with has to be someone I see myself with for a long time. And I honestly thought that maybe it...could be you."
"You ignore me for a long time, then show up on my vacation to get away from you for you to tell me you think I'm loose?"
"That's not what I meant."
"But it was highly implied." Serena paused. "Darien, if I like you, then I'll sleep with you. I just don't do it with anyone."
"How many guys have you been with?"
"How is that important?"
"Please answer."
"Three." Darien's eyes widened. "See, I'm not loose. I bet you've had more females."
"I'm sorry, Serena. I guess my assumptions made me an ass. But I just want you to know that something was still tugging at me so when I saw you leave the place I had to follow. I want us to start over." Darien said.
Serena looked down at her opened shirt. She couldn't completely blame Darien for his assumptions. She did unbutton her shirt to get his attention. "We can start as friends. I don't want a relationship with anyone at the moment. I like your way of thinking, but I don't agree with it."
"I don't believe you. You think I don't pay attention to your sad eyes when your students talk about weddings, having kids, and how they gained a new sibling or cousin? Do you think I don't see when the other teachers invite you to their wedding that you politely decline? Someone hurt you and I'm sorry if I added more wounds to the hurt, but you can't let it stop you from finding love, Serena. You are too lovely for that."
Serena rose from her chair. Her hands clenching at her side. She stared at him straight in the eyes as she spoke, "No, I'm too loose to be in a relationship." She smirked when she saw him flinched at her words. "I just wanted a taste of you like Beryl does and see where it goes from there, but since you don't like girls like me, I will make sure to steer away from guys like you." She placed her hand in front of his. "Let's stay coworkers and friends. I don't need anything else." When Darien didn't shake her hand, Serena thanked him and wished him a great trip as she left.
