It turns out the Narivan are all carriers of a virus harmless to them, but especially lethal to Chiss biology. Thrawn dies instantly.
Ezra falls off the side of the Narivan Presidential Compound, he cracks his skull and dies instantly.
What's left of the 7th fleet limps its way to the Ascendancy, before returning to the Empire and being reassigned to other fleets.
Eli Vanto is saddened to learn of Thrawn's death. He dies fighting the Grysk as they overwhelm the Ascendancy's defenses. Vah'nya and Ar'Alani both commit suicide to avoid capture. The Chiss are subjugated into the Grysk Empire and suffer years of brutal oppression under the new regime.
Ahsoka settles down and marries New Republic pilot Trapper Wolf. The marriage is an unhappy one and they divorce soon afterwards.
The guilt of being unable to save Ezra and the near total extermination of her people by the Empire proves to be too much for Sabine, she falls into a deep depression and lives out the rest of her days alone, bitter, miserable and full of regret.
Jacen Syndulla trains to become a Jedi for years, wanting to carry on the legacy of his father. He dies instantly when a bolt of lightning blows up Luke's temple. (This actually happens by the way, it's in the rise of kylo ren comic, they actually retconned it so that he didn't murder all the Jedi I'm not even kidding)
Years later, an Imperial fleet arrive at the borders of the Grysk Empire. With their seemingly bottomless supply of manpower, resources and ships, the First Order shatter the Grysk forces with ease. Afraid of another military leader of the same calibre as Thrawn rising to challenge them, Supreme Leader Snoke orders the total extermination of the Chiss race. All worlds within the Ascendancy are Base Delta Zero'd, and the few survivors are hunted down and killed. Karyn Faro and Gilad Pellaeon, now Generals of the First Order, protest against the needless genocide and attempts to launch a coup. They are both killed by Kylo Ren.
Kallus murders Zeb and proclaims loyalty to the First Order, but it subverted your expectations so its good writing.
After the deaths of Snoke, Kylo Ren, Hux, Pryde, and the destruction of the Final Order and the resurrected Palpatine, the Galaxy falls into complete and total chaos as various First Order warlords fight over the scraps. Without any political leaders, planets, shipyards, or really much of anything the Rebel Alliance had at its height the Resistance is unable to restore the Republic, an idea which the Galaxy at large has now largely turned against. A new dark age of war, chaos and anarchy begins.
A massive fleet of biological warships arrives at the edge of the galaxy. With the Galaxy more disunified than ever, and weakened by years of brutal carnage, the Far Outsiders effortlessly steamroll anybody foolish enough to try and mount a resistance against them.
Except for one.
Palpatine possesses his granddaughter who is actually the daughter of a failed clone I think (seriously it's in the novelization its really confusing) because he literally said he would do that if she struck him down and she struck him down, and returns to his (her?) secret fortress on Byss in the Deep Core. The full might of the Final Final Order is brought to bear against the extragalactic invaders, but neither side is able to win a decisive victory.
The entire Galaxy devolves into centuries of endless war between the immortal, now thoroughly insane Palpatine and the brutal Far Outsiders
