chapter v: burn part two

The couple left behind a note on the door of Belphegor's bedroom. Three words scribbled on the paper.

We'll be back

Squalo will probably tear the note apart while complaining of how irresponsible Tsunami is for leaving. Again.

But she left a note behind this time around. And Belphegor is coming with her. It won't be like last time.

Tsunami feels bad for leaving Chrome and Lambo so soon after they just reunited, but she can't put this off either.

Tsunami need to make this trip.

She wants to see her mother, her friends, Fuuta and I-pin.

It only took them a flat second to step into the black whirlpool and out. From Belphegor's bedroom to the front of Namimori Shrine. Flame of Night is unbelievably useful, it has to be said.

"Where to now?" Belphegor threw an arm around her shoulders.

"My childhood home," Tsunami answers. Since when did home become childhood home, she can't help but wonder. "I want to see my mother."

"We only dated for 24 hours and you already want to introduce me to your mother? You move fast." Belphegor hums. "I like it."

"Tell me if you feel uncomfortable, okay?" Tsunami tug on his jacket. Belphegor looked down. "We're not like most couples but I don't want to make you feel like you were forced..."

"No one is forcing the Prince to do anything," Belphegor pulled her closer. "I look forward to meeting your mother."

Tsunami smiles.

"Maybe not right now right now," She says, taking note of the dusky sky. The time difference between Japan and Italy had slipped her mind.

Belphegor's lips brushed against her temple. "We'll go to the hotel then."

The hotel staff recognised Belphegor on sight. The man behind the receptionist's desk hands over the keycard to Belphegor, eyes distant. Tsunami made a mental note to give a hefty tip for everyone in this hotel because frankly, they don't deserve Varia being thrown their way.

Tsunami explore the penthouse with Mink trailing after her. Belphegor already reclaimed the bedroom he used to stay in whenever Varia visited Namimori. Tsunami joins him in the bedroom, climbing over his lap, Mink on her shoulder. They called for room service and ordered the greasiest food on the menu. They feast on french fries, chicken wings and churros. Belphegor raided the counter for chips, chocolate and soft drinks.

Tsunami watched her first sunrise in years in Belphegor's arms. The sunlight hit her on the face. It doesn't feel like revelation. It's just warm.

And that is enough.

It made her feel bad, ambushing Nana like this, but her mother treated her reappearance as if she never left in the first place. Iemitsu had told her that Tsunami will follow in his footsteps to dig oil in parts of the world. Nana accepted that explanation with a breeze. Belphegor elicits a much more animated reaction from her mother.

"Your first boyfriend? This is a cause of celebration! Someone finally willing to settle with my dame daughter!"

Tsunami knows that Nana doesn't mean anything by it but it is still hurtful to hear nonetheless.

The blow is softened with Belphegor's next response, "I don't find your daughter to be dame, Sawada-san. In fact, one word is just not enough to perfectly capture her."

...What a sweet mouth her boyfriend has.

Fuuta and I-pin are watching from the hallway, worry etched on their faces. Those two have always been clever. They know how to keep their heads down after years of living under the same roof as Reborn and Bianchi. Vongola didn't bother to tell their friends and family Namimori of her disappearance. An information vacuum that lasted for six months should have clued them in that something is amiss. Tsunami doesn't exactly keep regular correspondence with Namimori when she leaves for Italy but at least she always makes sure to keep her inbox clear. Like Lambo, Fuuta and I-pin have grown. Fuuta is a middle schooler now. He even got taller than her. I-pin finally got used to wearing glasses. She wears her hair in twin braids now.

The Tsunami standing before them is not the same Tsunami they are used to.

Nana either didn't notice or didn't care enough to bring it up.

The children regard her with caution. They don't know what sort of person Tsunami is turning into now. Tsunami is not offended. She is not sure herself. Angrier, certainly. Full of bitterness, but that's not new either. Tsunami hopes that she still remembers how to be kind to others. Staying soft is next to impossible, but Tsunami hopes that whatever parts of her that are still soft will not rot underneath the rage and wants.

Tsunami smiles, greets the children, and asks Belphegor to entertain them while she talks to her mother. In private.

Belphegor whisk the children upstairs with promises of video games. Tsunami and Nana move to the kitchen. She brewed tea for her mother. Chamomile, Nana's favourite. Once they sat down, once Nana put down her cup, Tsunami opened her mouth.

She doesn't leave a single thing out.

Nana lived in a cotton candy world. Where everything is pastel coloured, sugar sweet and petal soft. Her feet tread upon fluffy clouds. Never the ground.

Tsunami doused water over it and it melted, giving way to the cold, harsh reality. Nana is pulled back to Earth. Twenty years of repressed emotions come out in the open.

"I died in my room while you were downstairs," Tsunami told her. It feels like the final nail in the coffin. And the nails are so many. "Reborn shot me in the head daily. Your husband once beat me up so bad it drove me to swallow pills that induce death just so I can fight him back. I tried to kill myself. Someone who I cared about put their hands around my throat. I've woken up in my own coffin once. The Seal would've killed me before I see my twentieth birthday. I killed before. I chose a murderer to be my lover. So many people want to see me dead. We were the ones who hid this from you, true, but you are not at all blameless in this. Your ignorance will be the death of me and others one day. I tell you all this because despite everything I do love you. We owe you the truth. I wanted you to know, Mother, how Death has always been part of this family."

I've grown up. And you missed it despite it happening right in front of you. Tsunami wanted to say. I will always love you, despite everything, because of everything. Maybe you will come to hate me. Maybe you will still love Iemitsu even after this. Whatever happens after this, know that you have carved your legacy in me. It will be up to me what to make of it. What to do with it.

This is where I will leave you behind.

Nana cried until her throat was hoarse. Then she rushed to the toilet, running past Belphegor, I-pin and Fuuta who are definitely not playing video games upstairs. Tsunami can hear Nana puking from behind the door.

Call it cruelty. Call it mercy. The bond between a mother and daughter is made with blood first, everything else comes after that. It can be anything but never nothing. Never.

Nana unknowingly wed a lion. Nana is the mother of a disaster. There is no version in this where she will come out unscathed. Whether or not she can pick herself up from the wreckage is entirely up to her.

Tsunami doesn't leave immediately. She ordered take out for lunch because Nana is in no state to cook. She sat Fuuta and I-pin down and explained everything to them.

"If you want to leave," Tsunami measures her words carefully, "You can. No one will force you to stay. I don't want you to get caught in the crossfire. You will not pay for whatever sins the Sawada Family have done. Or Vongola, for that matter. This heartache is not worth it."

Love does exist in this family. Love and fear and resentment and ignorance. For a time, it worked. But they aren't meant to last this long. Something gotta give.

And they have gone way past that point.

"Maman needs help," Fuuta said.

"And she will get them," Tsunami promised. Loneliness, she thinks, is the one thing Nana can't stand the most. More than her husband's deception or the underestimation from others. How much has her mother given up? Because of her fear of being alone? She would rather die a little inside everyday than breaking the pretense. She won't even risk rocking the boat.

The tragedy is, in a way, Nana ended up all alone just like she always feared.

Tsunami lifted their chins, forcing the youths to look at her. "You two did nothing wrong, you hear me? None of this is your responsibility. Don't let anyone make you feel guilty for trying to survive." Especially when you know there is no guarantee that someone will come and save you.

"What are you going to do?" I-pin asked her.

"I'm going to make some changes."

Tsunami call Kyouko and Haru from the hotel that afternoon. She gave them a heads up of what is about to come. Tsunami didn't tell them the details, feeling that it will be better to tell them the full story face to face. She did tell them about Hana.

Kyouko and Haru asked her if this is wise. At least they don't ask her to reconsider or dissuade her from telling Hana. They still remember what it's like being left in the dark.

Kyouko then gives Hana the heads up so she won't be surprised when Tsunami shows up at her door.

She was still surprised when Tsunami showed up in front of her house the next day, but not to the degree Tsunami had feared. Belphegor didn't come with her. Tsunami about to change Hana's whole life, Belphegor will only overwhelm the poor girl. Hana takes in her uneven chopped hair, her changed scent along with Belphegor's scent on her skin and clothes. Hana is an Omega. More importantly, Hana takes things with a grain of salt. The two of them never were close like Kyouko-and-Hana close. Hana dropped the nickname Dame Tsuna after Kyouko befriended Tsunami and Tsunami felt compelled to leave Hana out of her crazy life, even before Ryohei and Hana became a thing. They don't get in each other's way. That is the dynamic they silently agreed on and it suits them well enough for the last few years.

"Kyouko told me you have something important to tell me," is what Hana says but her eyes say, What happened to you?

"I'm sorry," Tsunami says instead. Because she is about to break Hana's heart. Because she is about to throw Ryohei under the bus. She is sorry that this is the only way to save Hana. "We've kept secrets from you."

Hana let her in. Her parents are out at the moment, leaving the house all to themselves. Tsunami waited until Hana brought the tea before she began.

Unlike with Nana, Tsunami does leave several things out. That unwanted trip to the future and the subsequent fight for the, well, future, is too bizarre to wrap one's head around. Time travel conundrum and all that. Tsunami simply told her that the enemy had her file and Ryohei freaked out. He was freaking out back then. She left the Tri-Ni-Sette out as well.

Unlike with Nana, Tsunami showed Hana her Flame of the Night. To her credit, Hana doesn't scream. One step is all that it takes to go from Hana's bedroom to the sunset lit beach in South America. Hana fell on her butt and she still doesn't scream. Tsunami pulled her up and they returned to Japan without much fuss.

Hana simply lies there on her bed for ten minutes. Tsunami sip her tea, waiting. She has said what needs to be said. Hana not yelling at her to get out is a good sign she supposed.

"Ryohei is planning to propose," Hana says without taking her eyes off the ceiling.

Tsunami set down her tea. "Ah."

"He has zero subtlety in his bones, that dumbass. But I… I love him. I was planning to say yes. I don't mind the wait. But that was before… This."

"I told him that he will not do to you what Iemitsu did to my mother when I last saw him," Tsunami told her. "I told her, by the way. She screamed and then she puked. You are handling this way better than her."

"This-" Hana sat up and turned to face her. "This is mean of you. To get between me and Ryohei like this."

Tsunami doesn't deny the mean part, "I want to see where all the chips fall. I want to see what Ryohei will do next. You need to be told anyways. I won't let you become another sacrifice if I can help it. I'm not sorry for telling you."

Hana put her chin on her knee, "I'm glad you told me. So many things in the last few years make so much more sense now."

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you."

Hana takes a deep breath. "Tsu-"

"I am. I did have the choice to tell you about it. I should have told you a long time ago. But- I was afraid. And they told me I don't have a choice day after day after day I begin to believe. I never had a choice. I was never meant to. So I kept silent. Because I am afraid of what will happen to you and the others if you find out. I don't want you to end up like my mother. Or worse. Me."

"Stop right there," Hana said tiredly. "I'm not angry at you, okay? Well- Maybe a little but not to the point that I want to hate you. I'm glad you told me. I'm glad you came here and told me everything before I said yes to Ryohei. This is you trying to help me. You are doing the right thing."

Tsunami stares at her.

"What is it?"

"Oh. Sorry. I was bracing myself for a freakout or an attack. I'm not used to people being rational."

"Those people really fucked you up."

"They did. I'm planning to fuck with them right back."

That does make the corner of Hana's mouth quirk but then she sobered. "Your Alpha. Is he good to you?"

Tsunami thought back to this morning. The sunlight felt warm against her skin with Belphegor's arms around her. When Tsunami looked below, she didn't feel the urge to jump. Or any urge, really. It was a fleeting moment where everything is still. No pain, no worry, no confusion. Belphegor was there with her for that moment. Nothing in her life ever makes any sense but that morning on the balcony, Tsunami is glad Belphegor is with her for that one moment.

"I want to watch the sunrise with him again," She says instead.

For the first time since this conversation started, Hana truly smiles.

Belphegor hung out at TakeSushi while Tsunami paid Hana a visit. A customer who sat next to Belphegor chatted him up and that's how Belphegor learned that couples in Japan would wear matching outfits. He is all over the idea.

That's how Tsunami found herself at the mall, carrying several striped shirts. Belphegor too got himself some more striped shirts. As if he didn't have tons of them already. But Tsunami can see the appeal, when the two of them stood side by side in front of the mirror in their new striped shirts. Belphegor is about to kiss her right there and then but Tsunami slips back to the changing room before he can do so. It doesn't take Hyper Intuition to predict that they will go overboard with their PDA if Tsunami welcome his advances.

Princes do not carry their own shopping bags so they have their purchase sent to the hotel. Belphegor's Household will take care of the rest.

They are having a break at the park when Belphegor tells her. "I always hunt down other killers whenever I visit another country. Wanna come and watch?"

Tsunami regarded him carefully. She is honestly not surprised. This is Prince the Ripper we are talking about here. She had accepted that their relationship will be anything but normal. A younger Tsunami would have freaked out but this Tsunami doesn't. Is it because she is used to it now? Or is it because she is now a killer herself?

Or maybe it's because she was raised by Death that she is no longer afraid of it? Not in the conventional sense anyway.

She feels like Kore, young and inexperienced. Belphegor is Hades. Death is written all over him. He will even teach her if she asks. Whatever choice she makes here, Belphegor won't chastise nor will he patronize her.

Tsunami doesn't hesitate to take a bite of the offered pomegranate.

Later that night, she followed him to dark alleys, watched him tear apart the criminals unfortunate enough to come across him and careful not to blink. Belphegor seemed to like it when he got an audience. Maybe it's the Alpha in him that wanted to impress an Omega. Tsunami watch from the sidelines, never commenting or interfering. She did ask him to teach her how to burn the bodies. Belphegor is more than happy to grant her request.

Red and orange illuminate the night. The flames eat away the victim until there is nothing left. Belphegor held her hand. Tsunami doesn't feel the urge to burn the world. The knowledge that she can do so if she chooses to is enough for now.

The following morning, Tsunami and Belphegor head to the shopping district to meet up with Kyouko and Haru. They agreed to meet up at a brand new coffee shop. The girls want to try out the cakes the shop has to offer. Some things never change. Tsunami can't help but take comfort in this one little thing.

Belphegor will come with her this time around. Kyouko and Haru technically have met him in the past but never got properly introduced. Now that Tsunami and Belphegor are a thing, it's only right to introduce him to her girl friends.

Once they are all bundled up to survive the cold winter air, Tsunami and Belphegor leave the building. Belphegor's crown hidden underneath his hood. Tsunami doesn't bother to wear gloves. Belphegor put their intertwined hands inside the pocket of his jacket. A childish, girlish part in her soar at the gesture.

The cafe turned out to be a two story building. The surprise didn't stop there. Kyouko had reserved the entire second floor for them. 'For privacy,' Tsunami realised. Honestly, she doesn't deserve Kyouko and Haru.

It doesn't take long for the two girls to arrive. Tsunami leap to her feet at the sight of her oldest, bestest friends. The three of them squealed in delight as they threw their arms around each other to a three-way hug.

Then Tsunami feel the two stiffens.

"Tsunami-chan-" Kyouko is the one who withdrew first. "Your scent…"

Tsunami give them a weak smile. "Let's sit down and order us some cake first. Oh, and meet my boyfriend."

"Hahi?"

Belphegor snickered at the girls' gobsmacked expression.

So they take their seats, order their cakes and drinks, and Tsunami spin her tale. The girls listened with rapt attention. Haru abandon her blueberry cheesecake entirely when Tsunami got to the part of her suicide attempt. But they don't interrupt her. By the end of it, all three girls are in tears. Tsunami didn't shed a tear when she told Nana and Hana. Those tears fall with Kyouko and Haru.

They know of Vongola, but they don't know them like Tsunami does. How lucky of them. The rest of the mafia, men, speak of Vongola with religious reverence. Not all of them are fans of Vongola of course, but it doesn't change the fact that Vongola had been hyped up so much to the point that even the most cynical believe they are untouchable. Timoteo definitely bought it. This blind faith in Vongola is exactly why many didn't see Byakuran coming in the bad future.

And now, Kyouko and Haru are added into the ranks of people who don't worship Vongola. Two more women who know the truth. Two more women aware of the ugliness of the mafia many seldom speak. Vongola won't be able to ensnare them fully. There are loyalties that go beyond famiglia. Tsunami is content to know that this truth will protect Kyouko and Haru even when she is gone. Less ignorant. They will know what to watch out for. Tsunami had done them a great disservice when they were forcibly sent to the bad future. Well, no more of that.

There is a vivacity in Kyouko and Haru that Tsunami so often envy. So foreign to a Death-touched like her. Tsunami loath to see them being broken in by the world. There are enough dead mothers and lost daughters out there. Her friends are neither dead or lost. They are just being unapologetically themselves.

"They made me this way and they don't want to take responsibility. If they wanted to, it's too late for that, don't you agree?" Tsunami smiled at her friends, teeth bared. "Here I am, despite everything. I am here because I willed myself to be here. They can't make me apologize. I refuse. They'll get used to it. They have no choice."

Kyouko studies her. She bore zero likeness to Ryohei but Tsunami easily recognized that look of intent the boxer wears whenever he steps into a ring. Kyouko has it too. Tsunami wondered how many people noticed. Most people mistake Kyouko for being a soft Omega and don't bother to look deeper. Most people are idiots.

"You remind me of your future self."

Tsunami did not see that coming. She truly doesn't. "Oh?"

"They barely mention your future self by name when we were stuck in the bad future. No traces of her too. It's almost as if someone deliberately made future you a ghost. Gokudera-kun told me that no one attended her funeral… She was left in her casket in the middle of nowhere. They tried to forget you, but they couldn't." Her smile mirrors Tsunami's own. "That Tsunami took away their most prized possessions; their rings. Their pride. Their identity. Vongola will die with her. Millefiore is not their end. It was Tsunami."

Kyouko left her breathless. Tsunami has lost count of how many times Kyouko took her breath away. There's the sunset hair of hers. That disarming smile. The kindness that acts as balm to her bleeding heart. Kyouko was her Sun before Reborn and Ryohei. How could anyone, especially Ryohei of all people, not know of her brilliance?

"They hurt her," Haru said with a pensive look. "They hurt you. There is so much one can take before they break. Future you was alone." She glanced at Belphegor. It should have been a Guardian sitting next to her but Tsunami chose to bring her lover instead. "She became cruel for it. Yet even in her cruelest moment, she was not horrid. Confusing, yes, but horrid?" Haru shakes her head. "She sent us too, didn't she? Future Tsunami didn't have to, but she chose us. We can't fight. We can't build weapons or robots. We were just teenage girls. But she made sure we would be protected when we got blasted to the bad future. She wanted us to be together until the very end. That's not a bad person. Only a human being who just wanted to be with her friends."

Haru. Child of spring. She is an elemental just like her namesake. Kinder than Tsunami for sure. Oh, but Haru is not just kind. She is stubborn, creative, and loud. Haru throws her entire being into her convictions. Even though she finds the idea of mafia repulsive at first, Haru doesn't hesitate to stand up for Reborn, for her. People who she literally just met. That kind of loyalty is hard to find. And Haru chose them.

Reborn and the boys dismiss them as weak. They pegged them as their cheerleaders at the sidelines. A role neither Kyouko and Haru asked for. What the boys deemed as weakness is what Tsunami needed.

Tsunami give them a tearful smile. "You two are the best friends a girl could ask for."

Kyouko and Haru burst into tears. Belphegor patiently waited for them to hug it out. He doesn't even make fun of them. He gives them each a strawberry from his strawberry pie at the end of it. Even the Beta Haru got one. Tsunami got the biggest strawberry.

"Hahi, you are a very well mannered Alpha." Haru stabs her strawberry.

"I am the prince after all~"

"But it's still rude to stab people you just met!"

Tsunami blinks in surprise. "Wait, what?"

"Ushishishi~ I actually met your friends before."

"What? When was this? How come I didn't know about this? Bel, you tell me everything right now. Bel. Bel."

"Ushishishi~"

Their meeting started with a hug and ended with one.

Tsunami is beyond annoyed right now. There is no true anger in it, for both sides decided to let bygones be bygones. But like hell she will allow herself to simply move on. Tsunami must let herself to feel first before she can move on.

Belphegor took her back to the hotel. The moment the door closed behind them, Tsunami pressed him against the wooden frame.

"They are mine." Tsunami hissed. "Kyouko, Haru and Hana are my people. You will not harm them. Poke them with your words all you want but not with weapons of any kind." Her Sky Flame and Night Flame flares at the same time. They are meant to be a warning. That Tsunami means business. Belphegor may be her lover but he is not her keeper. Nor is he a superior she must bow her head to.

Belphegor's form remains lax but his Storm Flame flares back in response. "They are yours," He agrees easily.

"I mean it, Belphegor."

"The prince is serious too."

Slowly, Tsunami removed her hands from the door. "I'm actually a very possessive person."

"I don't mind." Bel tucked a lock of hair behind her ear. "Royalty are possessive by nature. Royalty take care of their people."

Tsunami can't help but get curious. "What about your people?"

"You've met most of them," Belphegor wrapped an arm around her waist. "The rest, they are in safe hands. Right now you have all my attention."

She regarded him curiously "All?"

"Princes are the best lovers around. Alphas are the greatest guardians," Belphegor answered. "How could I not give you my utmost care and attention?" The way he says it- As if it is the most natural thing in the world.

Is he talking to her as a Mate?

"We have a big day tomorrow," Tsunami hastily changed the subject. She is not ready to have The Talk with Belphegor. Not yet. "I will need Lambo for this- And your silence."

"I didn't tell the peasants anything when you were away."

"I know. I'm grateful for that. This one is different though."

"How?"

"Well…," Tsunami pulled him closer so she could whisper in his ears. The bangs hide his eyes but the way Belphegor tense under her touch, she knows she surprises him.

Next thing she knew, Belphegor grabbed her by the buttocks. He lifted her up and pressed her against the door. Before Tsunami can get a word out, Belphegor's mouth already found hers. Tsunami internally shrugged and wrapped her legs around his waist. Their makeout session lasted long enough that Belphegor is out of breath.

"You have the best ideas, babe." Belphegor whispers in her ear.

"So you're down with it."

"Baby, I'm so down with it."

"Easy there, tiger," Tsunami playfully tugged on his hair. "There's the couch if you can't wait until we get to the bedroom."

Belphegor considered it for a moment. "I'm fine with where we are right now."

Well, why not?

"Help me with my shirt."

Belphegor is more than happy to oblige.

"Are you fucking serious? Oh shit- I mean- Oops?"

"You can swear all you want, Lambo. This is no small favour I'm asking you. I won't get mad if you turn it down."

"But what are you doing there in the first place?"

"To pick up a friend. Maybe two if everything goes smoothly."

"...You're going in no matter what I say, aren't you?"

"Yes."

"Fine," Lambo groans. "Text me the details. Make sure to erase this call as well- You know what? I'll erase the trace myself. But are you absolutely sure you want it tomorrow?"

"Positive."

"How in the world are you going to get here so quickly? The others are still scratching their heads over your little getaway with Belphegor. What if they cotton on?"

"Let me worry about that. Save your energy. You have a long night ahead of you."

"Gokudera is going to kill me when he finds out."

"I have complete faith in you."

"...Thanks. That means a lot, coming from you."

"Lambo?"

"Yeah?"

"Thank you. You didn't have to do this."

"I said yes because it's you, Tsuna-nee. How could I turn you down?"

The Iron Fortress is said to be impenetrable. That is nothing more than some bullshit rumour spread by Vongola to build up their image. The Varia invaded the place twice in the last ten years. The Cradle Affair was the first time. Timoteo's kidnapping was the second. Xanxus installed a fake to pretend to be the Ninth and none are the wiser. Timoteo's Guardians? Some Guardians they are.

Timoteo held promise at the beginning of his reign. The man had what it takes to survive the mafia. He can use the Zero Point Breakthrough but his true strength lies in mind games. His charisma can only bring him so far. Timoteo was able to keep his allies and enemies alike in line in the first few decades. Yet it was the moment he decided to rest his laurels Timoteo made his first mistake. He stagnated. Whatever promise that man once showed the world began to decay. He lost his sons, turned his adopted son to his enemy, outplayed by so many others, let his little games get so out of control he can no longer fix it. Timoteo fancied himself to be a master when he is anything but.

Timoteo is not the weakest boss in Vongola's history. He is the worst of them all.

That is how history will remember him once Tsunami gets her hands on him.

Tsunami can't hardly wait.

Tsunami and Belphegor step out of the black portal. Why should they go through the door when they have Night Flame on their disposal? Lambo already hacked into the security system way ahead. He can't keep it up forever though. It is a race against time. They must not dally.

Their objective is situated right in front of them. Timoteo put it inside a chest but that was it. No locks, no lasers, no nothing. So easy to swipe. Timoteo thought that putting it behind a steel vault and installing the security measures outside will suffice. How naive of him. Oh, well. He just made their task easier.

With a gloved hand, Tsunami opened the lid.

And there it was, the source of so many bloodshed in past centuries. The Vongola Ring. Or what supposed to be the Vongola Ring. It is still in its raw form. So they were unable to transform it back.

Tsunami pick it up. Belphegor quickly put a decoy in place. Tsunami let him choose what they should use as decoy. Belphegore chose Jack-in-the-box. Yes, the toy.

Tsunami looked down on the stone she's holding. Natsu is inside this thing. And the echoes of the past holders. And…

"Belphegor? Can you give me a kiss? For good luck."

Belphegor snickered. He bent down to give her a quick peck on the lips.

"I'll see you in a bit."

"Don't take too long now. The prince has something special planned for this evening."

"I'll try."

Tsunami shifts her focus back to the Vongola Stone.

'All right, Spirits. It's time for us to have a little chat.'

The Vongola Stone grows warmer in her hands. A bright white light envelops her.

Tsunami closes her eyes.

In the beginning I meant for this chapter to be a two parter but it gotten so long I have to break it to three.

Belphegor and Haru did meet in the past. It was a sidestory in the novel/extra materials.

Thank you for reading
