A/N: Post Avengers Endgame, Nick Fury is reunited with Carol Danvers. SPOILERS FOR ENDGAME AND CAPTAIN MARVEL!

How's That Eye?

S.H.I.E.L.D Director Nicholas J. Fury sat in his private office aboard the helicarrier, which had lifted off the previous day. He'd decided that they couldn't let anything like Thanos (or worse) happen again and had decided that they lap the United States to look for any possible dangers. So far, everything seemed peaceful, but he knew from experience that you couldn't assume so before you've flown over everything.

Fury thought back to when he first saw Carol Danvers. She was still just as powerful and as confident as ever. Still strong willing and determined, unable to give in to Thanos and his army. It'd been over twenty years since he'd seen her, and he was glad that not much had changed. They'd not talked yet, but he had a feeling that it wasn't far off from happening. Especially, now that all the other planets' problems have been solved because of the Avengers; because of Tony Stark; because of Natasha Romanov. Two necessary sacrifices, that held the mood of the team low. Clint Barton seemed much happier, now that he had his family back, but still not the same. Bruce Banner seemed constantly distracted. James Rhodes seemed lost, without Stark. Fury's own spirits were still low, as he mourned Romanov. She's been the best of the best of all of S.H.I.E.L.D. and now she was gone.

"Fury." A familiar voice came from his door, footsteps coming towards him.

"Danvers." He greeted, looking up from his screen. "You've kept well over the last twenty years."

"You don't look so bad yourself." Carol smiled, stopping before his desk. "How's that eye?"

He couldn't help, but to grin at that. "No longer usable. Goose did it in good."

"She is a flerken." She reminded him.

"I know." Fury gave a huff of amusement, the smile fading. "I'm glad you got my request to get here."

"I haven't heard from you in so long and I was wondering how you were doing." She admitted. "It's a good thing I came, or you would probably still be in the Soul Stone."

"Probably." He agreed. "It's only one more time you saved me."

Carol grinned, remembering saving him from Talos. "And how many more time will I have to?"

"Hopefully, none." He replied, leaning back and crossing his arms. "You should stay. There's an open slot for another hero. Two, actually."

She shook her head. "There's other planets for me to watch over, Fury."

He nodded. "Knew you'd say something like that."

"Nick, we need you on the bridge!" Maria Hill called into the room as she walked passed.

"I'll be right there." Fury answered back, getting up from his seat.

"Why didn't she call you Fury?" Danvers asked.

"Not now." He headed for the door. "I don't have time for this argument."

"Okay then, Nick, I'll see you next time I stop by Earth." She told him.

He sighed, rolling his eyes as he exited the room. He stopped and turned back to look at her. "See you when you do."

Nick Fury headed for the main area of the helicarrier, to see what Agent Hill had for him now.
