The call came at 1:06 AM.
He blindly reached over and flipped it open to answer.
"Yeah, Gibbs." He had already started to swing his legs around to touch the floor, expecting to head to a crime scene.
He was instantly awake when he heard her voice. "Abs?"
"Still getting used to the time change, sorry."
He rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. "You okay?"
It had been weeks since he had heard from her. In the beginning, they spoke weekly, with even a few failed face time attempts. It took time for him to get used to his world without her, but he was moving forward.
He was an expert at moving forward.
"I'll call back later."
"No," he assured her. "It's fine Abs."
She sighed outwardly.
"Somethings wrong." He stated simply.
He always knew.
"I'm probably just being paranoid."
"Probably?"
"The last few nights, I've walked home…I've gotten this feeling like someone is following me? I know it's probably nothing. But I just wanted to call you, because…well…you're who I'd call if I was home."
Home.
God, he missed her.
"You haven't seen anyone?"
"No…at least, I don't think so…I sound crazy don't I? It's probably nothing…just some lingering fear from when…"
She couldn't finish and he understood.
"You don't sound crazy, Abs." He took in a breath. "What can I do?"
It went silent for a few moments.
"Abs?"
He heard a loud noise before he heard the phone drop to the floor.
"Gibbs!"
His name was getting further away.
"Abby!" He hollered into the phone before he heard someone breathing on the other end. "Abby?"
"No," the voice replied. "Abby's gone now."
Gibbs swallowed hard. "You hurt her, I'll kill you."
The man scoffed. "Have to find me first."
The line went dead right then. He collected himself before making all the necessarily calls to get help there. Making one final call before pulling away towards the airport.
"DiNozzo, it's me…something's happened. Need you to meet me in London…"
