"Beca, I swear to god if your ass doesn't get down here right now I am going to scream"
Beca rolled her eyes at her wife. Leave it to Chloe to make something super dramatic and over the top. This has been an on going thing in their marriage for the past sixteen years, she loves her wife, believe her, but things have been very rocky since Chloe got her new teaching job. Beca huffed and checked her appearance in the mirror before she made her way downstairs. She was met with two gorgeous blue eyes looking up at her.
"Mama, are you proud of me?"
Kayden Mitchell, Beca and Chloe's pride and joy. At just the tender age of 9 she was wise beyond her years. Here she was dressed in a nice purple and white dress, her gorgeous strawberry blonde hair up in a nice bun and her glasses sitting on her nose. Beca actually was the one who carried Kayden. Chloe had a hard time conceiving, after six failed times of IVF Chloe had given up and let Beca try. It took a few times for Beca to actually get pregnant but after the third try they were lucky enough to finally conceive. Things before then were tense and very on edge, divorce was a real option for the two, but they thought in some twisted way that having a child and starting a new chapter in their lives that things would change. Boy were they wrong.
"I'm so proud of you, bug" Beca said and hugged her daughter "I can't wait to see you preform tonight, I know you are going to kill it"
Kayden ran over to Chloe and got her shoes on.
Beca sighed and looked at her wife. Everything was so different. They have been together for over 19 years, married for 16 of those years. They met at some bar many years ago, Beca a doctor and Chloe an elementary teacher at a prestigious college preparatory school. They fell in love instantly, spending every moment from that day forward together, going on adventures and just enjoying each other's company. Six months later and they were living together and already talking about the future, ready to take the next step. A year later and they found themselves married. Their families thought they were insane for jumping into marriage as fast as they did but when you know you know, right?
There marriage was far from perfect, because they jumped into marriage so quickly they were still learning things about each other, like how Beca never puts her shoes in the right spot causing Chloe to trip and fall almost everyday, or how Chloe never caps the toothpaste causing it to dry out faster or how neither of them like to make the bed and they both suck at putting the laundry away. It made for many nights of hour long fights but soon enough they learned to navigate through their differences and found a routine that worked for them and it was smooth sailing for a moment there. Things were perfect for the couple. They had an amazing group of friends and their families were amazing and things were just good for the Mitchell clan.
It wasn't until about three years ago when Beca would make the biggest mistake of her life; She cheated. Cheated on the one person who loved her more than anything else in the world. It broke them. Chloe took Kayden and left for a little while staying with her best friend, Aubrey and her husband Andrew. Chloe was gone with Kayden for almost three months before she decided that Beca deserved a second chance. Little did she know it would eat her alive everyday. She knew deep down she would never forget what Beca did but for the sake of their precious daughter she swallowed those feelings and put on a brave face and tried to work through it, no matter how much she just wanted to pack up and leave.
"Can we get ice cream after my dance?" Kayden asked as she slipped her jacket on. Her blue eyes looking between both her moms. She was no stranger in the fact that their was major tension between her parents, she didn't know the exact reason but she knew that something was going on and she tried her hardest to make everything fun and happy, well, as much as she could for a nine year old "Please?"
"Of course, bug" Beca said and smiled at her daughter.
Chloe just glared at her wife and scoffed "Beca, she has already exceeded her sugar intake for the day, ice cream is not a good idea"
"Chloe, she is going to a dance recital, im sure she will burn enough calories to be able to have a small victory ice cream"
Chloe just huffed and grabbed her daughters dance bag. She grabbed her car keys and walked outside to the Tesla that Beca had bought her as an 'Im sorry I fucked a guy in our bed and you walked in and saw it' gift. It surprised a ton of people to find out Beca was the bisexual one and Chloe was as gay as they came, so imagine her reaction when she saw a buff sweaty guy fucking her wife in a way that she didn't even know Beca liked in their bed, in their home, a home they shared together with their daughter.
Beca smiled at her daughter, she picked her up and walked her outside to the car. She got her all buckled in before she slid into the passengers seat "Sorry" Beca said softly over to the redhead.
Chloe looked over at her wife "Don't be. You always do what you want, my opinion doesn't matter to you anyways so I don't know why i waste my breath anymore"
Beca rolled her eyes "Don't be like that, Chloe. You always take things to the extreme, it's just ice cream" Beca said and buckled in "If it make's you feel any better she can have sugar free frozen yogurt, it's not a big deal. Our daughter made it to a national dance competition, she deserves a treat for all her hard work" Beca pulled out her phone and started to look through the things her residents had done for the day. She had taken two months off from medicine due to a very scary health scare a few months ago. She just needed a small break.
The drive to the dance recital was a long one. It was about an hour away. Kayden was in the back singing a long to literally every song that had come on the radio. Beca was happy that Kayden possessed some type of musical inclination. Beca was a very musical kid and at one point thought that music was going to be her passion and she was going to make a career out of it but her parents had different plans for her and basically forced her to go to medical school and get a medical degree. It was a great decision to say the least. It lead her to the bar where she met her wife but it also led her to the bar where she met Jesse, the guy she cheated on Chloe with.
It was never her intention to cheat, and yeah, i know that's what everyone says but she was so incredibly lonely and extremely drunk. She never in a million years thought it would be possible that she would do something like that and still to this day she doesn't even really remember what all went down. She went to the bar after a long shift, drank a few beers and sang karaoke with some of her coworkers and was all in all having an extremely good time. Hours later she was a ton of beers in and it was safe to say she was drunk. She remembers meeting Jesse. She can remember that they sang a few dumb songs and doing some shots together. After that things are foggy. The last thing she remembers of that night is Chloe standing in the doorway, tears running down her face. Beca had never ran after someone so fast in her life.
After they found a parking spot Kayden jumped out of the car and ran inside. Chloe turned and faced Beca. She took a deep breath "Beca. I need you to listen to every word that I am going to say and I need you to not interrupt me, got it?" Chloe asked. When she saw Beca nod she continued "I want a divorce" Chloe said tears now falling "I have done all that I can do to try and fix this marriage but nothing i do is working and it's killing me to pretend to be happy, our daughter deserves that best life and I know staying in an unhealthy marriage where she can constantly feel the tension between us is going to hurt her. She is a bright young girl and I know she knows more than she is letting on. She doesn't deserve to have that on her shoulders. In going through with this divorce I want it to be quick and easy, okay?"
Beca didn't know what to say. She knew things were bad and she knew it was going to take a lot of work to fix things but never in a million years did she think they would be divorcing. Chloe was it for her and she lost the best thing to ever happen in her life. All gone because she was way too stupid to realize what she had. Beca took a deep breath, she was so emotionless she didn't know how to feel. Of all the places they could've had this conversation. Leave it to Chloe to choose horrible timing. Beca collected her thoughts and nodded "Okay. Take anything and everything you want" Beca said softly. She grabbed Chloe's hands and kissed them "I just want you to know that I am so fucking sorry for what I have done and never in a million years did I think we were going to be this couple. A couple that had to divorce. You deserve so much more than i've given you and for that I am also sorry. Chloe Beale you are a superstar and I hope that you find the happiness I wasn't able to give you" Beca said through tears "I really do love you. More than you know, more than I ever showed. I knew from the start I didn't deserve you"
Chloe was crying even harder now. Beca always had a way with words, always knew what to say at the right time "Beca. I know you love me, trust me, I know" Chloe said as she took her hands back "And I forgive you for what you've done but I will never be able to forget or get the image out of my head and that is the reason I am asking for a divorce. It's eating my alive, I can't eat or sleep in that house knowing you brought another man into our home while our daughter was home and had sex in our bed. A place that was meant for you and me. I will never be able to forget that and in the long run it's not fair to me and it's not fair to our daughter. You have to know that and understand that" Chloe said. Beca nodded and took a deep breath "You are my first real love and you always will be, Beca Mitchell, but I guess we weren't meant to be and that's okay. We had an amazing 16 years of marriage and I will be forever thankful for all the gifts and trips and all the love that was given to me by you and those memories will never fade or go away. You will always have a piece of my heart"
Beca closed her eyes for a second. She needed to process what was going on and what was being said to her. Beca leaned across and pulled Chloe in for a kiss. When Chloe held her close and kissed her back the tears came running back down her face. This was the last time she would be kissing Chloe Beale. Their shared tears made for one of those sappy romantic movies. Her life was becoming a sad movie and she never thought she'd say that. After a few minutes Beca pulled back and rested her forehead on Chloe's "I'm such an idiot Chloe' Beca said crying harder than she has ever before "I am so sorry" Beca cried for a few more minutes before she sat back and looked at Chloe who was equally as teary eyed "Fuck. Quick and easy, take whatever you want and just send the papers my way when you are ready and I will sign them. I really don't want lawyers involved, they make things complicated and it's just a waste of money, okay?" Beca said and Chloe nodded "So you can keep the house and I will find something closer to the hospital since the house is in Kaydens school district and close to your work, I wouldn't want to move Kayden, she loves that home. She can just come stay with me on the weekends" Beca said trying to wrap her head around what she was actually saying. She couldn't believe they were actually speaking of this, right now, at their daughters dance recital "And if you think about anything else you need or want please just tell me"
Chloe nodded.
The pair sat in silence for a little while before Chloe spoke up again.
"I want full custody of our daughter"
