A/N: I was pondering late at night trying to sleep, thinking about how angsty this character is... and so dawned the beginning of a new poem. *shrugs* It might be good. Some things written at night sound good to a half-asleep brain... then you wake up and find that they're just stupid. ^_^ It doesn't actually SAY who the character IS... so you can either take my POV that I reveal at the end, or make it so it's another character. Whateva.

Disclaimer: I don't own it! And if you try and sue me, I'll cry, and I'm so cute that the judge will take pity on me and you won't get a DIME! HA! *cough*

Don't Tell

*

Don't tell a man who has shamed himself to jump from a cliff.

He will do it without hesitation.

Don't compete for honor with a man

Who has no honor left.

Don't tell a man that he has failed.

He already knows.

Don't tell a man he is a good person inside

When he is still haunted by things that he's done.

Don't steal gory from a man

Who has the type you must look twice to see.

Don't insult that man for something that is not true.

He believes you.

Don't hit him in his secret sore spot.

It will break all the faith he's put into you.

Don't accuse him of crimes he has never committed.

It will make him start building barriers against you.

Don't try to beat this man.

He will win.

Don't think that this man cannot change.

He can.

Don't tell him that he won't.

He will.

Don't tell him that he isn't capable.

He will go to any lengths to prove you wrong.

Don't tell this man that he cannot understand.

Don't tell him that he can't understand murder,

Hate,

Darkness,

Yearning,

Change,

Affection,

Parenthood,

Or love.

Don't tell him that.

He understands better than you do.

A/N: ... and the bongo drums bongoed, and the author bowed, and the people in the coffeehouse snapped. ^_^

So who was it? I had Vegeta in mind while writing, but I was typing and realized it COULD fit Kenshin (from Rurouni Kenshin... duh!) as well. Maybe. Especially the first part, ne?

Anyway... this is something I thought I'd better post. Tell me whatcha think of my attempt at poetry, wouldja? I'd be ever so appreciative. ^_^
