Useless...
Useless...
Useless...
Those were the words one shy freckled pre-teen known as Izuku Midoriya had heard his entire life from the person he thought was his best friend. Ever since he was diagnosed Quirkless, Izuku had faced discrimination at every turn. Everyone had told him to give up on his dreams of becoming a Hero, telling him it was unrealistic. Other kids bullied him for being a 'Quirkless Weakling' and leading the pack was Katsuki Bakugou, who Izuku thought was his best friend. Sometimes, Izuku would come home with burns on his body or walk with a limp. Over the years, he had gotten very good at avoiding Bakugou's wrath but other than that, he had not gotten around to making another friend, mostly because he was afraid they'd just cast him aside as useless once they knew he was basically powerless.
However, all this changed one day when, on the way home from school, he was ambushed by Bakugou and a couple of his cronies and he had no other means of escaping today. The look of fury in Bakugou's eyes was particularly nasty because he had just learned that Izuku was planning on going to UA High, the most prestigious high school that trained people to become Pro Heroes. It was the same school that the Symbol of Peace and #1 Pro Hero All-Might graduated from with flying colors.
"Now listen here, Deku. I'm the only one here who's getting into UA. You just be a good useless bitch and stay as the stepping stone you are!"
Izuku shook his head as he gave a half-determined look at his ex-best friend. "T-That's not true, Kaachan! They allow Quirkless people to attend too!"
"Really? You hear that, guys? Deku thinks UA lets Quirkless people attend!" The two punks besides Katsuki laughed before the ashen blonde turned to his green-haired victim with a murderous glare.
"Deku, let me give you some advice. Don't bother going to UA. No way they'll allow you in, Quirkless or not, you're good for one thing only; Being USELESS!"
"Um, am I interrupting something here?" Spoke a new voice, everyone turned to see a boy with spikey black hair and slightly tanned skin giving a glare Bakugou's way. He was wearing a black coat with an orange undershirt and black pants and he was currently approaching with his right hand in his pocket.
"Beat it, loser, this doesn't concern you! This is just between me and the useless Deku here." Bakugou snarled at the boy, who kept a cool head and a narrow gaze. Bakugou's two cronies actually felt slightly intimidated as they backed up a single step.
"Bakugou, I don't think we should mess with that guy! His Quirk may seem lame but it's actually no joke!"
"HA? What can this loser even do to me?" Bakugou barked as he pushed Izuku away and walked over to the boy, who did not falter even as the explosive teen approached him with menace in his blood-red eyes. Soon, they were eye-to-eye but the boy stood quite a few inches taller than Bakugou.
"Wow, no wonder you're so angry. You probably didn't get breastfed by your mother enough."
A vein popped in Bakugo's forehead while his cronies actually let out silent 'Ooooh's' in response to the burn while Izuku looked shocked before shakily getting up but his legs for some reason did not make any attempt to move. It's as if he was curious to see what this boy had that made him able to stare into Bakugou's eyes and not even flinch.
"SAY THAT TO MY FACE, BITCH!" Bakugou roared as he lashed an explosion but the boy whipped out his right hand and held it out. A sound akin to breaking glass echoed through the hallway as the explosion dissipated harmlessly. Everyone present looked shocked at what the mysterious boy had done before Katsuki prepared to launch another explosion when he was uppercut in the jaw by the boy, using the same right hand clenched into a fist.
As the explosive boy spun in the air before falling hard on his face, the boy looked at his cronies, who were staring at him in shock and fear. "Care to try your luck as well?"
The two punks turned tail and ran as the boy walked over to Izuku and helped him up to his feet as the freckled greenette blushed nervously. He did not expect someone to actually step in and defend him from Bakugou's wrath like that.
"Sheesh, I can't stand jackasses who pick on people who can't fight back. It's such misfortune that I have to stumble across stuff like that."
"T-Thank you...W-Who are you?"
The boy smiled as he shook Izuku's hand firmly. "Touma Kamijou, just call me Touma."
"L-Likewise, call me Izuku Midoriya..."
And just like that, a new, true, beautiful friendship was blessed onto Izuku, and this wasn't the only friend he would make on his way to UA High.
Yeah, what if the cast of A Certain Magical Index, namely Touma and the Level-5 Espers plus Shirai, were all in the BNHA Universe and their powers were Quirks and they were considered potential candidates for the next #1 Pro Hero but they instead decide to protect an abused cinnamon roll? You get this story.
