Chapter 1

Ed was working on the roof of the house. 'If I still had alchemy this would have been a cinch' Ed thought to himself. Even though he lost his alchemy, it was worth it for his brother. He would have done it again in a heartbeat. When Ed finally finished, he went in and greeted Winry and Granny Pinako.

"Hey Ed, did you finish the roof?" Winry asked. "Yeah, took a while though. It was a pain in the ass" Ed replied. Granny Pinako then said, "Looks like you're finally becoming a man!" "Hey what's that supposed to mean?" Yelled Ed. He sighed. "I'm gonna go to bed early. I'm pretty beat." "I'll join you later then." Said Winry. Ed gave her a kiss and went to their bedroom.

Ed got to his and Winry's bed and within minutes fell asleep. He was in a dreamless sleep and suddenly... he was in a very familiar white space. 'Oh no. This better not be what I thi-' "Hello Edward Elric!" Truth replied. "God damn it! This better be a dream!" Ed yelled. "Unfortunately for you and good for me, I have summoned you here." "Why the fuck am I here Truth?" "Aww. Can't I just see my favorite alchemist?" Truth joked. Ed glared and replied "Nope and in case you've forgotten, I'm not an alchemist anymore." "Do you really think so poor of my memory? I'm hurt." "Cut the bullshit and tell me why I'm here!"

"Ok ok." Said Truth. "I need a favor, Edward Elric." "Ha! YOU need a favor from ME? That's priceless." "Oh come on, help an old buddy out?" "You and me? Buddies? You wish." Ed said scornfully. "What if I return your alchemy to you?" "Nope. I already told you my family and friends are more important than alchemy." "Sigh. Ok... what if I guaranteed the safety and protection of you and your friends and family. Even your descendants?"

Ed hesitated. It was a very tempting deal. And it would probably be good in the long run. "Can you tell me what exactly is this favor?" "Nope! Not until you agree to do it!" Truth said with his obnoxious grin. "Sigh. Fine. I'll take the stupid job" Said Ed. "Wonderful!" With a snap of his fingers, Ed's gate suddenly appeared again. "Congratulations on being an alchemist once again." "Yeah yeah, now tell me what this favor is!" Ed said impatiently. "Impatient are we? Well, I suppose the sooner the better." Said Truth.

"Alright. First of all let me say that there are different dimensions." "Wait WHAT?" Ed exclaimed. "Hush! Let me finish! Yes, there are different dimensions. I control all of them. Well… except for one." "Let me guess, you want me to go to the one you can't control." Said an irritated Ed. "Bingo! Yes, I want you to go to that dimension. There is no alchemy there so I cannot do much in that dimension."

"In this dimension, humanity is at the edge of extinction. There is only a little over a million people left. The reason for this is from these strange creatures called titans. They are giant mindless humanoids that exist to eat humans. No one knows where they came from or much about them in general except their description and that they mysteriously appeared a little over 100 years ago. They are similar to homunculus in a way that they can regenerate." 'Just great' Ed thought. "But they do have a weak spot- the nape. Slice the nape deep enough, and it's an instant kill."

"The humans in this dimension have poor technology with little improvements. For some reason the government is against any advancements in technology, which is strange considering that they should be fighting for humanity. However, they do have something called 3D maneuver gear, or 3DMG. I'll tell you the rest when I take you there. However, there's one more thing I should tell you." "And that would be…?" "In this world, I'll give you the ability to bring five people back to life." Ed's eyes widened. "Choose wisely though, make sure that they will help humanity. You should also probably hide your alchemy and your automail limbs. The government doesn't take well to strange things and will most likely see you as some sort of devil."

"Ok then… wait did you say limbs?" Ed asked. "Ah, yes. You still need some sort of payment to get to that world, so you'll have an automail arm again." "Great… and how about my friends and family. They're definitely gonna realise I'm gone." "I'll leave a note. Now enough questions! See you later alchemist!"

Suddenly, Ed was thrusted into his gate and it felt like everything was spinning. 'Make it stop' Ed thought weakly. And he felt the area around him go black.

Ed woke up in what looks to be an apartment. There was a suitcase next to him containing some necessities such as clothes, money, and identification. There was also a small book, which Ed opened up. It contained any other information that Truth didn't tell him. Even after reading that, Ed still felt like he was missing some important parts. 'That bastard Truth probably just wants some entertainment so he didn't tell me everything and left me to figure out the rest' At the end there was a note that reminded him not to show people his automail limbs and alchemy unless it's to people he can trust. 'Wait… I can do alchemy again!'

Ed clapped his hands, and sure enough he was able to make his signature blade from his automail. "Yes!" Ed shouted. 'Wait… why does my voice sound squeakier? And come to think of it… I feel a lot shorter too… Don't tell me…'

Ed was 12 years old again.
