Unfortunately, the hiatus of Dixon Saga will continue. But Axel Dixon will appear later in this story as I planned out. Also, others's OCs will as well.

I don't own AMC's Walking Dead Characters. Neither the ones from Telltale's Walking Dead.

The New World

Arc 1

Chapter 1: End of the Road

Early this morning as the sun shining up, there was an abandoned railroad reached almost over Georgia that it never had single wagon rolling over it in many years. Until, a black train with a red boxcar appeared from the distance that it was running over the old railway. The train came from Savannah, and now the next stop is Atlanta. Possible if it can make it to reach there. Inside of the boxcar, there was a group of five adolescents with a young child. They have been part of a group that it had fall down while the rest went MIA two nights ago.

To start with what, how and why. For three months ago, an outbreak started by reanimated corpses raising up and eat living people instead of laying down and rotten away after the death. They are nothing left whom they were before. Only their matter is the hunger for flesh and blood without a question or doubt either. The dead people never go back or neither get tired of hunting people and animal for food like the mobility is unlimited. Nothing like someone in the world had ever seen that kind before. The people whom were devoured by the dead ones will come back with what's left on them and eat more living people.

In the first days, the cities fell in tragedy situations as the number of dead people did just increase each day. The military tried to clear the mess of chaos, but it didn't going so well as what the population were hoping for and just getting worse than anyone could've imagine it. Some people are still alive and try to survive, some are dead, some are missing, most of had turn into the walkers.

The group called the dead ones the 'walkers' since the skin-eating monsters are just walking but slowly and never take a break. But if the walkers are many like hundreds or thousands, the group better run as it's no worth it to try kill them all.

Many groups of survivors including the one whom driven the train managed to learn about how to kill the walkers. Only way to do it is to destroy the brain that keeps them walking around and eat people while needed to be careful with them or otherwise, the person will get a bite and then an infection that will killing the brain. At some point, the group did also learned that no matter how people die, they will always come back as walkers. For that, everyone are infected...

In the wagon, there was four teenagers and a little girl whom sitting down in gloomy and unfortunate. After losing their new friends from another group they have been with in several weeks, and worst; they recently lost a friend from their group. It was quiet impact on all of them.

One of the teens had shoulder-length brown hair with hazel eyes. He was wearing a blue t-shirt. Over it, a hooded varsity jacket that it has red sleeves, black front parts that each had a dark yellow double up-arrows, dark yellow packet and hood, and then with a pair of blue jeans and black boots. The boy had two holsters on his back and the other on his waist for a machete and a red colored Desert Eagle. His skin is light brown like tanned as anyone would believe that he used to spending in the sunshine in every summers, but the truth is his father was an African and later suffered by vitiligo before his birth. His name was Connor Drake, the leader despite he was thirteen and a half years old though neither the teenager was the oldest or youngest of all in the group.

Next to him, right beside the door there was a girl who just become a teenager last month ago. Connor's childhood friend, Ellie Reilly. She had ash brunette hair in Lob style, and her eyes are green like shining pure grass in a moon night. Ellie's outfit consisted of a denim jacket that had green tank-top under it, along with black casual jeans and running shoes. Ellie can be sassy when someone tried to expect her what to do she doesn't like. Her hard-headed personality was usually an straight-spear that hitting the source of argument of meaningless. Ellie and Connor was a couple once over six months last year until Connor's mother died in a train accident a half year ago before the outbreak which created a strain in the middle of relationship and cut all romantic feelings, but no matter what became of between them Ellie and Connor were still remained together as best friends. Ellie would always support Connor if her best friend getting feel down like classic abyss.

Across from Connor to the other side, there was an old teenager named Brandley Miller, with his innocent little sister Sue. Brandley had a blond hair in a buzz cut style as he did cutting his hair when it was long enough to his neck, and his eye-color was a light grey. He was wearing a blue checkered shirt that had a brown cotton jacket over that, along with a pair of regular blue cargo pants and brown wolf leather farmer boots. Brandley was sixteen years old and supposed to become a doctor as his dream, also his medical studies would display himself as an extraordinary student of all in his high school. He was also an religious though he was near in the brink of faithless after witnessed the calculations of humanity in the plague. Until Connor given him a reason why continue with his beliefs and help anyone when he can. Brandley did eventually become a doctor what he wanted to be but not in that way, and also a morale compass in the group when he and Sue joined with Connor and Ellie.

Sue was innocent and positive little girl, and the youngest of all in the group as at the age of six. Her hair was blonde that reached all the way down to her shoulders along with bangs that would reached down far enough to cover several parts of her eyebrows and some of a small number of freckles that dotted around her face when she growing up. the group got some experiences from a old hobo who used to live this train that it may be dangerous to have a long hair enough for the walkers can grab it from behind. So they probably gonna make a decision about cutting Sue's hair a little too. Like her older brother, her eyes are light grey. She was wearing a blue green long sleeve shirt along with a pair of light blue jeans. She was the second youngest of all eight siblings while Brandley was the oldest and also the most caring and popular in the family. Their family was actually from Europe, but then moved on and lived in a farm in America. Sue joined with her brother to read a bible that she wasn't much enjoyed of it, but it was because of due her young age, and also didn't make a complaint about it. Since the plague didn't took just many life, but a lot of activities for joy and happy as well. No phones. No computer. No TV. No network. Everything was gone. But despite being not so much of religious like Brandley, Sue was still hoping the nightmare will be over soon as possible.

Connor took a look at another teenager who was an African and sitting far away from the others, at the end of wagon and grieving over his dead girlfriend who the group have lost yesterday ago. The fifth person was Jack Robinson and the oldest of all as one year older than Brandley. Jack had black hair, though it was barely to easy to see since his hair was currently in a buzz cut style, and his eyes are dark brown. He was wearing a black top with a pair olive jeans. Due his bodybuilder and size, Jack was simply considered as the muscles in the group. Jack didn't have much speeches in seriousness except his bare hands had some answer when it comes. Now he was deeply distressed over the death of his girlfriend, Anna who was only sixteen years old when she died...

Jack was just stare down at his own hands that raised up and didn't speak a word to anyone. His friends couldn't help but feel worry about his well-being and wondered how is he going to bear the lose. Or at least, can he?

Connor had his back leaned against the wall and circled the things what he have been through around in his head while he stared down at the laps. Only a deep sigh came out of his mouth before taking a breath. He wondered what could have happened with his cousin, Clementine after he got separated from her and a good friend who is dead after got a bite, Lee Everett when they were getting out of Savannah as the city was overrun by thousands of walkers. Lee Everett who took with and look after Clementine when the plague started while Connor or anyone couldn't. Not even Clementine's parents since they were on vacation in Savannah when everything went to the south. Additionally, Connor was on summer vacation too with his class, including Ellie.

Summarizing the story of Connor and Ellie's: They had been on L.A. on the summer vacation, came there in the same day when the deads starting rise up and eat people. Connor, Ellie and their teachers, Opal and Coach Marvin separated from the rest of class when Connor decided to head off to cut little his formerly long hair in the city. They were ended up a barbershop that called 'Salazar's Cuts' owned by a family. Not long until the city fell down not because of the virus or the walkers either, but the bystanders whom thought the police was out of their minds and killed some 'sick man' before their eyes which incited a mass of protest from them. Coach Marvin decided not go out from the shop with Opal, Connor and Ellie when people went gone crazy and panic as a riot appeared. Just then, a family came into Salazar's place to take refuge from the riot after Marvin convinced the owner, Daniel Salazar to let them stay until everything will be cleared out. But after a while, they found out as no long able to stay in the city and decided to leave fast as possible. Connor, Ellie, Opal and Coach Marvin wasn't at the liberty to choose where would they go like find the rest of class in that moment so they and Salazar Family desperately join with Family Manawa. Well, the husband was actually a ex-husband, but was with his son, Christopher, and ex-wife and mother, Elizabeth Ortiz. Also, Daniel Salazar, his religious wife, Griselda and their daughter, Ofelia. They went to a neighborhood right outside of L.A. where Travis lived with his new family. His new wife, Madison Clark and her own two children, Nicholas and Alicia. Between those families except Salazars it was a unhealthy complex especially for Travis. But despite that, they allowed Connor Ellie, Opal, Marvin and Salazars to stay there until everything will be sorted out. The National Guard appeared and converted the neighborhood into a safe-zone. They thought they were safe. But the truth was that the military did planned to send napalms into the city, including safe-zones when they gonna leave which Connor, his friends and the three families did found out and then escaped before the clock was ran out. They lost Griselda and Elizabeth, and also they meet a strange businessman with his mysterious character, Victor Strand who had a big yacht and given them a offer to join a boat trip down to Baja California, Mexico. With the military bombed L.A. down, there was no going back and reluctantly took the opportunity. Everything went to the south in Mexico. They lost Opal, Christopher and... Travis. With the latter's death, it did give the birth to a heavy tension between Madison and Marvin. Madison has become darker than anyone including her own children would expect what's she had it in herself. They have been in a conflict between people of a ranch and Indians, fighting over the property where the ranch located. Until Madison secretly ended it in her own way that something non of her friends would go on with. Before someone could figure that out, a large herd walked straight into the ranch and infested there. Connor and the others made it out, but lost Ofelia later who were bitten in the process. In the end, Connor, Ellie and Marvin separated from Madison, Alicia and Victor as each of the two small groups took a boat in order to escape from another hostile group that took over an active dam until Nick who was left there behind plus with Daniel to sacrifice to give his family and his friends a time to escape and then blew it up which the water bursts the dam into the flood on the other side. Madison, Alicia and Victor did lost the maintain of motor on their own boat and dragged away by the stream into the dam and then sucked into the water of the flood. Connor, Ellie and Marvin didn't lost the motor and managed to get away from being sicked into the water, but couldn't stop thinking about Alicia, Nick, Victor, Daniel and Madison if they survived after the dam or not... After that, they got back to a helicopter that Marvin was working on since the ranch and hoped it will take them back to their home, to Georgia. As Marvin was used to be a pilot once in a helicopter on the military before the strain and then become a coach in Connor and Ellie's high school. They managed got back to Georgia, but didn't landed on the ground pretty well. And then they finally came to their school that it was still hold up by their schoolmates even after two months passed since the outbreak started. Something really terrible happened there then... Marvin died... Something that Connor or anyone in his group didn't want to remember even a single puzzle of it. Though it was there when Connor and Ellie found the others whom was in the group.

After escaped from the school, they were terrified of the experiences from there, but moved on as far as possible and focus on the preparations for their journey. On their way, Connor's group came across to a Motel run by a group and that's the one they recently lost and separated two days ago. Most of them actually. That was there when Clementine and Connor found each other. It took some hash between Motel Survivors and Connor's group like too many months to go around, but things were settled up then. After a less month, they had meet some people whom have become inhumanity just because of the status of the new world. No rules. No justice. No rights. No wrong. Just survival. People had become more violent, ruthless, even cannibals too. Also, the leader of Motel Survivors lost her father who was so rude and selfish on anyone but the leader, Lilly.

Few days ago...

They were arguing in the side of the road after got away alive with a RV that Kenny had been working on over weeks from a raid that it took place in the motel by a group of bandits, as what they used to call those crazy people in the forest. They were happy that no one didn't died during the raid, but the relief was a short moment when Lilly couldn't just drop it and demanded who worked with the bandits by given some of supplies under their noses.

Connor and the others refused to believe that, not until Lee confirmed that he found a bag of medicine that it was meant for the bandits right before the raid. A true traitor among the group. Though most of the group wanted to leave the motel because of the bandits whom attacked them earlier at the motel until it had been calm and quiet in a few days. They didn't assumed the bandits had just given up, but couldn't figure why did they stopped attacking. Now they know that someone in the group cut a deal with them instead warning the group.

But Connor, Lee and some others was more worried about Lilly's mental and wondered what's gonna happen if the woman crossed over the line. Lilly accused Carley, Jack, Anna and Ben without the facts except her suspicions.

"Ben, you don't have other options here!" Lilly snapped at the teenager who looked frightened by the woman like always once he feels her presence every time.

"Leave him alone." Carley glared at Lily, but the latter didn't listened and still stand by her irrationally interrogation.

"I think we maybe need to collect all the factors by our feet in a shelter before the outcry in this press can be tremendous out here." Harry said as he tried to reason with Lilly.

"No, this is the right time. I'm not taking any risks anymore as long as there's a traitor here!" Lilly snapped before looked at Ben again. "You can tell it was Carley, Anna or Jack, and then everything will be right as rain." She then looked over at Kenny who was dealing with a walker that it was caught beneath the RV in the road. "Don't you think so, Kenny?"

Before the former fisherman could answer, Ellie chimed in and said, "This is bullshit! This ain't getting nowhere! Jack and Anna would never do something like that!"

"Ellie's right, Lilly. We might will never know who made a deal with those crazy son-of-bitches in the wood. This isn't worth it." Connor said.

"You two don't just lay off! Think about Clementine. Would you really have her around with the traitor?" Lilly retorted, crossed her arms.

Connor was losing his patience, and also he was getting angry at Lilly for bringing Clementine up to this. "Don't tell me what I doing the best for my cousin! And I am doing right now! Like planning what's the next preparation here outside! We have lost our home, and now you wanna find this person who caused all this instead of watching over your ass for the walkers or any crazy fuckers in this opening!"

Lilly glared at Connor in a moment before she steeled herself and shook her head. "Fine then. Have it in your way. Kenny?"

"I don't know- Fuck! Just stop, will you?" Kenny took a look at Lilly as a respond before continued with the walker. He wasn't follow with the argument since his focus are aimed at the problem on the RV most of all.

"Well, your vote counts for you and Katjaa." Lilly remarked.

"We don't need all these VOTES!" Ben screamed out in a heavy panic. "What do I have to do for you to TRUST me? I'll do ANYTHING! I'll-I'll do watches for months!"

"Oh god... Let us pretend we don't know this yellow-belly." Ellie whispered to Connor who just sighed in respond, but kept his alert on the currently situation.

"Ha, the hell you will." Lilly scoffed with a glare aimed at Ben.

"I'll get more food, more medicine, anything, just-" Ben made a lot of suggestions that it sounded pointless when he was acted so nervous, until Lilly interrupted him.

"You think any of that is good now?!" Lilly exclaimed.

"JUST LET ME STAY, PLEASE! GOD, PLEASE!" Ben pleaded in horror so hysterically.

Lilly crossed her arms again and shook her head before looked at the scarred teenager. "You're pathetic. Look at you."

"And who are you right now, so-called leader? I mean, who the hell give you the right to be judge, jury, and executioner?" Ellie asked with a sarcasm tone.

"I've heard enough of you, Ellie!" Lilly spat at the girl and continued with the argument, but Ellie's speech were hitting in her nerves.

"ENOUGH, BEN! You will just tearing yourself apart if you don't cool down." Connor snapped him out of the state. Ben was actually frozen up by then.

"Do we need more evidence than this?!" Lilly asked angrily.

"Fuck evidence! Stop treating him like that!" Carley spat, defended Ben.

"Please Lilly, just stop! Take a breath and think this through." Anna acted like a voice of reason.

"Shut up both of you!" Lilly snapped at Carley and Anna.

Jack didn't looked happy for screaming at his girlfriend who had been so honest and reasonable even after being accused. "Don't talk her like that!"

Lilly simply ignored Jake and his words as she turned her face to Kenny again. "Kenny, what's it gonna be?"

"Just gimme a damn minute..." Kenny responded without laying his eyes off from the walker.

The argument was getting more intense in every second as Lilly tried to scare Ben off enough so the teenager can spit his confession out which it wasn't pleasant for the rest. Connor couldn't keep this up, but losing it would making the situation worse than ever he tried to ignore the pointless talk. It also reminded himself how Martin and Madison were arguing about the situation with the Indians back to the Ranch by the border between America and Mexico. But it also made him start to understand why didn't Martin and Madison didn't see eye to eye anymore after the latter did lost Travis and it actually changed her.

Connor was snapped out of his thoughts when he and everyone jumped little up by Jack's tone as the oldest teenager couldn't take it anymore with Lilly. "That's it! I'm tired with this shit!"

"Jack, no. Please calm-" His girlfriend tried to calm him down, but Jack shook his head and kept his glare aimed at Lilly.

"No sweetie, I'm sorry but I wanna have her hearing this in front of us! Ever since we joined in this group, you have been treating us like goddamn slaves, like we should doing for your fucking BIDDING! While you letting your fucking racist daddy treat us like we are cattle and didn't doing any shit about it! Did he treat you like that too?! Huh?! Every time Connor, Ellie, Lee, Kenny and I came back with supplies no matter how much or little they were, you were never EVER appreciated about what we did! Maybe it is time to elect a new leader who is better than you and your ass! You're not a leader, you are a-wanna-be-queen, bitch!" Jack exclaimed right straight to Lilly.

Everyone including Anna was so surprised that Jack was either stupid or bold enough to yell something like that since Lilly can be a quiet intimidating woman and no one would know what can happen if someone steeped into her bad sides. Even Jack was full of muscles and taller than Lilly, the woman just looked angry and felt so humiliated than ever like a thread is about to tear apart into two by the rage.

"I might didn't bothered much with the treatment back to the Motel, but I think Jack's right, Lilly. You acted like a tough bitch, that no one can't lay a finger on you, but in the reality you're just a scared little girl. Get the fuck over it. Take a page from Lee's book and try helping somebody for once. Or otherwise, we will appointing one of us but you as the new leader in this group." Carley stated, crossed her arms.

The former reporter did shared the hateful glance of Lilly's with Jack. Ellie noticed that and prepared himself for what will come after Jack and Carley's speeches. Unfortunately, Kenny unwittingly paid everyone's except Ellie's attention from Lilly as he finally pulled the walker out from under the RV and tossed it away off the road. He stomped on the head with his foot to kill the walker and then approached the group. Ellie just only look at the edge of her right eye in a second before she saw Lilly grabbed her Glock from her hips and aimed with it at Carley!

"Now, what the fuck's the problem?" Kenny rose an eyebrow up.

Ellie widened her eyes and free her crossed arms instinctively once what she just saw, ran into Carley as a gunshot rang out and a bullet hit straight into the former reporter's cheek. In the second, Ellie were about to give a dead glare toward the woman she actually didn't ever like, but she just then saw Lilly aimed with her gun at Jack with no doubt. Ellie only just saw a cold shameless murderer as she roughly shoved against Jack with all strength she had since the oldest teenager weighed much than Ellie herself like he simply wouldn't move a couple inches away when someone given him a push. But that was uncalled and didn't get a chance to pay his attention on as Jack stumbled away to the side of the RV. Another gunshot rang out and Ellie felt something roughly stick through her left shoulder and lost the balance in her legs as she fell to the ground, landed on her unharmed shoulder.

"Ellie!" Several of her friends including Clementine who stand at the doorway on the side of RV screamed in horror at what just happened.

"Oh my god!" Harry gasped at the sight, frozen up and covered his mouth with both hands.

"Ellie, ELLIE!" A stressful Connor rushed over to check with his best friend who laid on the ground unconsciously. Her left shoulder bleed out where the bullet hit as Connor bent down and examined it to see if the bullet are still in there or not. Her eyes was shut down and the mouth was just slightly opened. No grunt or sigh came out of it. Meanwhile, Lee immediately grabbed Lilly's wrist and slammed her against the side of RV as everyone gathered around Carley, but the former reporter didn't seemed had lucky... She was dead. Shot straight into the cheek. "Don't die... don't die- Brandley!" Connor called out for his other friend who were still sitting in the RV with Sue since he didn't wanted to be part of the argument and especially involving his little sister into that.

Connor was never been so scared after what he saw his childhood friend was shot and nearly died in that night, but thanks to Brandley's medical treatment and antibiotic they got from a former ruthless place called Crawford in Savannah Ellie lived and felt better than ever now. But if she didn't risked her life, Jack would probably be dead along with Carley and rotten in the road. Jack himself couldn't help but felt guilty about the actions Lilly committed back to the road in that night. Didn't feel proud of his insult on Lilly after Carley was killed, and Ellie instead almost paid the price.

But the young leader forgiven Jack as he kinda already knew that Lilly couldn't cope over her father's death, throw her anger on someone else, and she did. Connor did actually compared her to Madison as what Marvin told him and Ellie how the blonde woman killed a person named Troy Otto who was hostile to their first group when they first meet in Mexico. But the things between him and them kinda sorted out though he was not right in his head. Yet it was complicated and complex with him. Madison did killed him later the same day Connor, Ellie and Marvin were separated from her group after she learned that Troy was the responsible for leading a herd of walkers to the ranch, got people killed. Madison claimed it was for necessary. For their safety and be better off without Troy, but Marvin and Nick just believed it was for malice intent of the vengeance and it did not bring back anything of the ranch alive. Neither Connor or Ellie couldn't imagining what would they feel if they reunited with Madison after she was turning into something worse like Lilly. Sure, they missed Nick, Alicia and even Victor too, and wanted to find them.

Connor took a view outside through the open door of the boxcar and saw nothing but a big field that was beside the railroad with a few of walkers that they were roaming around until the sound of train paid their attention as the walking corpses started to walk in the direction towards the train. But they weren't much matters to be worry about as long the train don't stop and get as far away from the walkers.

The group was hoping they will getting far away from those monsters and also some living people after witnessed the tragic many times than anyone could barely make a count while Connor just believed his cousin must got away from Savannah and hopefully be with Omid and Christa somewhere out there...

A hour went by and then...

"HOLY MOLY! EVERYONE, HOLD TIGHT!" The group released themselves from the long silence moment to their other friend's yell from the PA system on the train. Connor, Ellie and Brandley took hold of one of the metal bars that made up the skeleton of the boxcar while Brandley grabbed his sister's shoulder so she won't fall to other side instead of on the brother's laps. Jack, however, was the only one who just sat down and didn't make a move even after hearing their friend's announcement. He was just sulked and sit very tight when the train screeched to a halt as if he doesn't even care about what can happen outside like now.

After the train stopped, Connor and Ellie jumped out of the boxcar through the open doorway to outside while Brandley decided to stay with his little sister and Jake who were not in the mood to find out in the boxcar just in case if something go rough. Connor and Ellie found out that they were ended up on a level crossing in a two-lane highway littered with a long jammed traffic of abandoned vehicles. Some of them were wrecked by car accidents because of an attempt to escape from the walkers or the bombardment on the cities. The duo saw some of the closest ones to themselves and the train had one, two or five corpses were sitting on the seats, but fortunately non of them didn't make a move and distracted by them which means they completely died in their vehicles.

"Man... Can't imagine how things were when the people waiting for their shelter in the cities." Connor mumbled, looked shock and horrified at the sight of highway.

"If it wasn't for him, our schoolmates and other students would have ended up in this and then being stranded until in the end everything went into a massive pileup." Ellie stated, nodded in the agreement with Connor. She then observed over the highway. There was no walker as far as she could see from where standing at now. While it looked risky like walking into a graveyard where the deads started arising up out of the ground, there must be supplies, ammunition, whatever they need to survive since not all of people didn't died and managed to escape out of the road but left their belongings behind in their vehicles. "You know this place ain't seemed to being in the state of parlous to scavenge anything what we need. Maybe we can take at least a break from this goddamn train."

Connor wasn't sure about her idea, but he knew his group had low on ammo, water and medicine. Traveled that far, they gotta take risks "We'll see... But first let's find out the reason why did Harry stopped the train."

Connor and Ellie walked over to the train while kept an eye out for walkers even they didn't saw any just yet. Upon their way, they found a large truck that it's wrecked down, fell to its side on the railroad that across the highway. Just only less thirty feet away from the train or otherwise, it would be a crash.

"Fuck. How did this happened? No way we can push this thing away out of the railway when the wheels aren't on the ground anymore." Ellie groaned, putted her hands on the hips.

Just then, they heard a door of the black train opened up as turned around and saw their friend who has been drove the train. A boy who was eleven years old named Harry-Wilkins Hardly. Harry had unkempt titian colored hair that reached down to his neck, but with some bangs that reached down to cover parts of his eyebrows with blue colored eyed. Obviously, he had a reason why didn't fixing with his hair. His clothing consisted of a burlywood colored t-shirt with slightly beige sleeves, over that a canvas west with six pockets so he can collected four parts, contact device and other stuff, and a pair of green pants. Despite his young age, he was a quiet intelligent boy with a lot of knowledge, and learned things once he spent with like the control in the train. However, he can be so observed of the explosions, as one of the rules the group made said don't make a loud noise or otherwise the walkers will be right to top of them. Though a explosion would be useful like distracting the walkers away from the group. The problem was that Harry would be uncomfortable with the weapon and even melee weapon like knife and machete. The group especially Ellie and Jack wished Harry will learn one beautiful day hopefully.

"Looks like this is the end of the road." Harry marked after observing the wrecked truck on the railroad, climbed down of the train and putted his feet down on the ground and joined with Connor and Ellie on the highway right front of train. "A truck in class 8 like this one with thirty three thousands pounds would take many days to push while every single walker near to the railroad that across over many miles from Savannah to here are distracted by the noise of the train. Unless, we found a working tow truck in this aftermath of multiple-vehicle collision." He glanced down the highway with full of wrecked vehicles.

"This world isn't full of options anymore, Harry. Almost everything is so fucked up." Ellie sighed with a groan. "I wished we should take this fucking train when we escaped from Savannah."

"We would probably be dead last night. It was train or our possible fate, so we did took the first and I'd do that again. I even wished we could have stay longer and waiting for Clementine and the others too, but we couldn't." Connor added up with a slightly frown. "Anyway, Harry's got a point. We better figure out immediately before-" Connor was interrupted when he heard some familiar snarls from the left down the highway as he turned to the direction and tried to find the source. Ellie and Harry did as well when they saw Connor paid his attention on those snarls. It didn't took a few seconds for them to figure out it was the walkers as they saw just only four of those monsters appeared from behind of abandoned cars and stirred over to the train.

"Got some uninvited passengers who didn't have any tickets..." Harry quipped in some nervous tone as he was hoping no more than just four walkers that limped down the highway towards the train. I had been so horrified two last nights ago after they had to deal with the escape from Savannah when it was overrun by thousands of walkers like they never did experienced with that before. They had never thought they would success to get out of that city alive, but they did. Though some of them got traumas after had losing their other friends and people they cared about.

"Well, deliver the bill to them." Ellie scoffed as she grabbed her grandfather's old military knife and drew it out of the holster on her hip and prepared herself to fight.

Before Connor was about to grab his machete from his back, he removed the left sleeve up to his biceps as usually when it's about to fight with a melee weapon, since he was left-handed and would be completely movable to performing a heavy swing with his machete without a strain.

Once Connor drew his machete out of the holster, he looked at Harry and said, "Go and tell Brandley to get our gears just in case if there's more of them." He and Ellie then walked straight to the walkers, left Harry behind by the train as the young boy was just stunned and stare at the walkers in a moment before started to walk over to the boxcar to alert the rest of group.

Connor approached the closest one that it had reached its arms out for the boy, but the young leader quickly made a short leap to the side and swung his machete to slicing its left leg clean off its body as the walker lost its balance and fell straight down the ground. Before it could react back for that, Connor held the handle with both hands and had the top of machete aimed at the walker and then stick it into the head, killing it.

Ellie roughly showed the second one against the side of an abandoned car and stabbed it with her knife. She felt little pain from the gunshot wound on her left shoulder that Lilly given to her when that grieved unstable woman was tried to gun down Jack after Carley, but it didn't bothered her enough to lose the focus and the will to fight back. Just as another walker appeared from the right and grabbed Ellie's arm the one hold onto the knife. Ellie sent a blow into the head with her free hand when it was about to bite her right arm, only just stumbled a step back in the process, and didn't lost its grasp on the teenager girl.

"Shit!" Ellie cursed to herself as she struggled with the walker who tried get to the top on her.

Connor made a powerful swing with his machete to slicing at the fourth and last right into the head, cutting it clean in two. He then looked back up at his friend and saw she was in trouble. Connor desperately sprint over to help Ellie. First thought of his was to use his Desert Eagle to shoot the walker, but couldn't risk it when Ellie was in the sight while possibly alerting more walkers down in the highway. When he got there in no time, Connor tackled the walker from behind and drag it away from Ellie as it lost its grasp on the girl who immediately attacked again. Ellie used her knife to stab at the head and Connor throw it to the ground. Yet it slightly moved again on the ground as Ellie didn't stabbed in the head deeply enough to kill it and just she realized out, the girl raised her left foot up and stomped on the head to kill it.

Her foot was covered by some bits of the walker's brains with its blood before she started to shake them off.

"Disgusting... I'm getting tired of this." Ellie sighed with a groan as Connor took a small towel from his pocket and handed it to Ellie as she accepted it.

"At least the worst didn't get us." Connor added up, being little optimistic as Ellie used the towel Connor given to her to wipe the blood off of her foot.

"But how for long?" Ellie asked without looking at him, finished with the towel and gave it back to Connor. "Let's get back to the others."

Connor nodded in the response as the duo walked back to the train to announce that everything is clear for now. Though they were still planning about the next step since they didn't figured out or found a way to remove the truck that blocked the railroad for their train either. They were at least worried that they might have to continue but on their foot while there was a chance that another herd is right behind them and follow the direction where the noise of train came from, right to the group now. But there was no way that they can't stay by the train longer than they could.

After telling the rest, Connor and Brandley were discussing about their next move while checked with the supplies and ammo they had left. Sue was with them, and didn't involve or bother the discussion at all. Jack was still in the state of devastation as he leaned his back against the wall of boxcar little far away from his friends. He was still grieving over the death of his girlfriend. After holstered a Beretta 92FS on her waist and a Remington 700 BDL on her back, Ellie decided to see what is Harry doing now in the railroad between the front of train and the wrecked truck.

Harry was actually spending around there to try find a way to remove truck though it seemed didn't processing further yet.

"Well, Einstein. Did you find any solutions to get rid off that big junk?" Ellie asked as Harry opened his mouth to response, but the girl interrupted him and forgot something to add up. "Except blowing it up with an explosion to ease your attachment's sake than our safety."

The expression on the young boy's face was blow up by her latest words.

"At least it's not a bad idea after all... Technically, we wouldn't be here no longer once the permanent way is passable and then we resume our little train travel." Harry explained.

"'Permanent way'?" Ellie raised an eyebrow at that word.

"The track. Refers to it in addition to lineside structures such as the fences." Harry explained.

Ellie just stare at him and his explanation in a moment before shrugged her shoulders.

"Well, the passable in the track isn't permanently after all." Ellie chuckled little, referred to the truck that blocked on the railroad, and walked away to join with the others.

Back to Connor and Brandley, they were checking in a map of Georgia and located many points on it at the doorway of boxcar. Already figured out that the highway they were staying at was the part of Interstate 85 and also learned it had served as the main entrance and exit to Atlanta which it explained why there was many abandoned cars when the city fell down and the remaining survivors escaped out of there until everything went oblique down the highway.

"I ain't much fan of the military, but I'd put my faith in Fort Benning since that place gotta have the walls and more security than what we had back in the motel and the high school." Brandley suggested, pointed with his finger at the point where Fort Benning located on the map.

But after the things what he have been through with the soldiers back in L.A. right when the outbreak started, Connor wasn't really sure about the suggestion and also didn't trusted the military anymore. If there were soldiers still out in the outbreak, would they willingly to help people or kill them that the military believed they might be were infected. Something like that Connor don't wanna go through it again, especially with his friends.

"Did you forgot what Ellie and I told you when we got back to you guys in the high school with Marvin?" Connor reminded with a frown on his face.

"Look, Connor. I know what you had experienced their actions, but we can't just considering the military as an enemy. It would be a conflict if we came across them one day." Brandley said.

"After they promised to clear this mess out while protecting the people in the safe-zone, they just left us like we were hungry dogs... and then sent who-knows-many-napalms in the cities as it didn't worked at all and make the outbreak worse by increasing the number of walkers up and lowering the living down to the abyss." Connor stated. "Like the people here died down the highway for example. The only way to avoid a conflict with them is to stay away from their post."

Brandley sighed out, but didn't say a word afterward and kept his opinions in himself. He just wanna find a destination where it could be worth to find a safe place. But he knew they gotta be careful when they choosing a new destination. Like always since Savannah. Though all the mess didn't offered options for the group.

"But where else would we be go?" Brandley asked.

"I have to make this clear as what Christa said there earlier before the separation, no more cities anymore. We got so lucky when we arrived in Savannah as we already expected heavy odds from there. Those Crawford bastards did one good thing by clearing the walkers of the city until later the herd that was distracted by the train and then infested into Savannah. Despite it was our own mistake, it proved us that a city is more than enough times to be nothing but deathtrap." Connor made a decision which Brandley nodded to agree with that.

"You're right. This will cross over our minds." Brandley said. "God only knows what would have happen if it wasn't for Crawford when we arrived to Savannah..."

"Probably being chomped up and torn apart by now." Connor mumbled, and then shake with his head to focus on important matters. "Anyway, how much medicine do we have?"

Brandley turned around to his backpack and took up a notebook from inside of it. He always used it to make a list every single day as long as the trouble don't occupied his mind and the trouble don't take the time of writing in the notebook like in the last day of Savannah.

"... Antibiotics. Not much pills to spare as long no one get a critical wound. Pain-killers..." Brandley brought up from the list on his notebook.

The young leader sighed out in the response and took a look down at the highway once again. Not another walker didn't appeared in his sight yet. The track is blocked as the usefulness in the train had reached to its end in that case so Connor saw the group got no choice but continue on their foot in a new direction with a new goal. Scavenge in the highway for anything they need to survive.

"We gear us up and be ready to move fast as possible. This highway might looks risky, but the odds are better than in a city. Hopefully we can find a RV or something like that where we can find to sleep in the night." Connor stated.

After nodded at that, Brandley turned back to his backpack to lay his notebook in it. Right he was going to close the backpack, Brandley grabbed a Smith & Wesson Model 686 from it and holstered in the pocket of his pants. Sometimes he was reluctantly to have it on himself before the critical situation as the teenager thought he was meant to help people, not kill them and had hard times to kill the walkers in the beginning. Aside from his gun, Brandley had a small brush axe, and a pocketknife that he would give it to his little sister just in case. But his knife, his rules.

As most of the group was geared up, Brandley and Connor noticed Jack approached them with a couple of backpacks that they looked heavy on his back, but no strain for the muscle teenager, and held a Mossberg 500 with his both hands. Jack sometimes lost his melee weapon, but usually they were crowbar, tire iron and something was consisting of a metal bar.

The oldest teenager was still devastated as he didn't say a word after joined with the rest which leaving Connor and Brandley wondered about Jack's state. Despite they were told together to give Jack some space, the group need to check with him and see if he's alright. His act was completely hollow and didn't react but was so quiet and sit still when the train was halting at the level crossing in the highway.

Harry interrupted the moment when Ellie and Harry came over to the rest and ask, "Pardon me, but are we serious going to walk straight into the middle of that..." Harry referred to the highway with abandoned cars.

"We're out of options. Unless you got an idea to get some supplies without step a foot down there. Unless we can tell to the walkers give some food and water from there." Connor said with a little joke.

"It's not like the walkers are willingly to help someone outside of their breed like the bees never appreciating the honey is taken. The road down there is like a graveyard." Harry stated.

"I think we can handle this. This would be easy than it was in Macon and Savannah." Ellie said, checked with the ammo in her rifle.

"Don't jinx it now, Ellie." Connor warned.

"Hey, more space it is, more easy to see incoming walkers ahead." Ellie retorted, remembered how it was to being so careful when she, Connor, Jack, Lee and Kenny getting supplies back in Macon where it had many walkers that can appeared out of nowhere like from corner of building and almost be top on them inside of a building when the monsters infesting in like in Lee's parents's drugstore. Now the group were going to a place in ground-level where they can see. Though they gotta be careful when they walking around a truck or a RV. Wouldn't ever know what's behind next corner. "As long there's no herd ahead us, we'll be fine."

"Walkers are one thing. Lurkers are more concern since there are several corpses around there in the highway..." Harry added up, gained all looks from the group including Jack's too.

"Lurkers?" Sue asked.

"What the hell is 'lurkers'?" Ellie raised an eyebrow.

"There are some walkers that just sit or lay down the ground to playing 'dead' until a prey approached them and 'whoop'." Harry explained.

That statement from the little smart boy made Connor to remember how Lee was attacked by a walker that was lived in trashes when Clementine was missing and kidnapped. Until Lee came closer and reached his arm out for the radio that Clem used to pretend to talk with her parents right beside the walker that attacked Lee then, and bite in the wrist. It didn't paid its attention on the statics of Clem's radio until Lee was getting closer and then... he was bitten then. Despite Lee stated that walker was a small and stupid thing as it couldn't get up before the former teacher stomped on it after got the bite, the sight of their act like playing dead would lower their guard down and getting them in the danger.

"How many nicknames do you have to give for those fucking motherfuckers..." Jack said with a low tone, but it was a little bit intimidate as most of group looked at him concernedly.

But Harry didn't pulled himself back from the oldest teenager since the boy knew Jack a long time when he started to the school in the first year, and both of them have kind a brother-bond. Like Jack sometimes defended Harry when the latter was bullied by other older students.

"More like monikers I'd say." Harry said as Jack rolled his eyes and returned to keep an eye out for sure for walkers.

"Anyway, are you saying that these 'lurkers' has intelligence?" Ellie asked.

"Not exactly... As far as I learned more about these things in last days, they have just a shell driven by madness instinct. Like an aggressive animal. I'm not sure why the lurkers doesn't walking around. Could be that they have suffered some type of major injury or are otherwise in some kind of a weakened state like paralyzation or amputation before they died. But whatever prevented them, they playing dead until using their unlimited, but low strength to attack their prey when it approached them." Harry explained.

"I hate to say this, but Harry's right there. They might be looked less dangerous and weak, but the truth is that they are more threat than a normal walking walker. The fact is Lee was bitten by a lurker... We need to keep ourselves behind this valid statement. Once we see a corpse we gonna bypass it, pay attention and stabbed through the brain in case whatever it's dead or not." Connor stated, earned nods from the rest.

Jack by the way just walked straight down to the abandoned cars as the group wondered about if their big friend made it clear with Harry's statement or not...

Just then, they heard some groans from behind which the group turned around and saw some walkers were making their way to to the train from the track. So without a word and no time to argue, the group immediately hurry straight as following Jack's pace down the highway with abandoned cars. They were hoping the walkers didn't noticed them running away from the train...

They were also hoping that running away will not take as long as how they got out of Savannah alive or otherwise they will be exhausted and the deads will reached for them, unless the group found a shelter somewhere in the middle of jammed traffic wrecked cars and hide there until things will looking up.

To be continued

This series is a crossover of AMC's Walking Dead Universe and Telltale's Walking Dead, but this first part won't have any Telltale-characters except in the flashbacks.

The next chapter will explore more about my OCs like their unmentioned families and will be little shorter than this first one.
