Bring Me a Dream, Mr. Sandman
Gang Orca~Sakamata Kugo

"Thank you for inviting me out again, Kugo-san," the greenette said.

And well, Sakamata Kugo had always had a soft spot for Midoriya Izuku.

The first time he'd met her was on the 'battlefield'. She'd literally kicked his arm bracer with enough force to crack it and nearly break it off of him, and he'd watched her practically float in the air in front of him, yelling at those two boys.

It was mesmerizing.

When the exam was over, after the results were given out, he'd sought her out before she could leave. He had absolutely no qualms asking her out, and her wide eyes were amusing as much as she looked adorable.

"Would you go out with me, Midoriya-san?"

Though he knew he'd caught her off guard, the beatific smile he got in return after was worth him daring to come after the exam and ask.

"Yes, that would be lovely!"

She rejoined her class and had gone back to Musutafu, where a day or two passed before he'd traveled there and contacted her. They'd had a wonderful dinner together and kept up a correspondence, to which he ended up asking her out to this date.

Sitting at the diner, he watched her over the menu. Her wild green hair was tied up messily and she looked content being there with him. It made him feel odd inside, and though he was used to the fact most found him intimidating or scary, the fact someone like her didn't made him extraordinarily pleased.

He hadn't been named one of the Heroes that looked most like a Villain for nothing after all, and no matter how he dressed, he couldn't escape that fact.

With Izuku, none of that mattered though.

"Thank you for coming out with me," he told her, smiling. He wondered if she could even tell that he was though. His face had a hard time translating non-intimidating expressions.

But the way she grinned, her freckles spread across her cheeks like stars against the skies of her skin, made his stomach twist.

"I'm glad that we've become such good friends, Kugo-san," she told him sincerely. She reached a hand out and touched his, and he gripped the menu harder. "I kind of have a hard time making friends usually."

He couldn't believe that.

Still —friends. As much as the dates they go on were something he wished were more romantic and what he'd intended, somewhere along the way, it had gotten construed as something else by her, and he was too afraid to correct her by now. He'd rather have her in his life like this, than to not at all.

"I am too," he said then. "I do not have an easy time convincing others I'm not as villainous as I look."

She laughed lightly. "You, villainous? Not at all, Kugo-san!"

Kugo grinned, grateful to have met someone who cared little for his looks and wasn't intimidated by him.

Their food came and went, they talked long over it and past, and soon enough he was leading her out of the restaurant. His arm rested hesitantly around her and she chattered about her days in school. He listened intently, wanting to hear all of it, because he wanted to hear everything she had to say and give her all of his attention.

"This has been a pretty surreal dream," Izuku noted quietly, looking up thoughtfully at the darkened skies. "I never thought I'd actually become such good friends with a Pro-Hero."

"I'm really not even all that high up amongst Pro-Heroes, especially to meet," he dismissed humbly.

She shook her head, smiling gently at him. She stopped short and turned towards him, hugging him gently before moving back and then up on her toes, kissing his cheek.

"Not at all, Kugo-san," she repeated, a much softer tone used. "You deserve much more credit and praise than you get."

And if her scarred fingers slipped through his to hold his hand, he was more than happy to reciprocate and hold hers back.

A week later, they hadn't been able to see each other again. That said, they corresponded frequently and Kugo was relieved that he had managed to get her number back then when he did. Striding through his offices, he distractedly watched over his subordinates and sidekicks, wondering when it would be time to have interns over.

He really would like to ask Izuku if she'd like to intern with him.

That idea made him smile to himself, and he imagined it. Having her trail by his side, asking him questions, learning from him, and he being able to help her progress in her Hero path. Would she continue to enjoy his company? Would she enjoy working alongside him?

"Sir?"

Kugo glanced at his employee, quickly tending to him before going back to his thoughts. They were straight back to Izuku and he wondered what she was doing then.

He considered himself lucky to have met her and become so well acquainted with her. Izuku was the sweetest and kindest girl he'd ever met, and for her to find time and want to even talk to him was unbelievable.

His phone rang and he answered it, seeing it was none other than Izuku.

"Hey," her voice made him automatically smile. "I was bored and it's basically a free period right now. Thought I'd call you —which I hope was okay?"

"More than okay," he said, leaning back in his chair and grinning stupidly, he could bet. "How's your day been so far?"

She began chattering and he listened contently, letting her voice waft over him.

He wished he could dream all his nights to life, because every night since he'd met her were full of dreams of her. Dreams where Izuku and he were always more than friends, where he could kiss her soft lips, hold her head in his hands, cradle her body to his…

"I'm kind of lonely," she'd once told him.

He'd bitten back the desire to tell her that her lonely nights could be over if she'd let him take care of her.

Kugo clenched his jaw and closed his eyes, listening to Izuku and wanting to be near to her then.

"Izuku," he interrupted her.

"Kugo-san?"

He focused on his breathing and bid himself to say something.

'I always want to have you in my dreams.'

But he was a long way from confessing and Izuku was probably never meant for the likes of him.

"I hope Sandman comes to visit you tonight," he said quietly. 'And give you a dream to keep the loneliness away.'

"Thank you, Kugo-san!"

Because his nights had become a contradiction, dreaming of her and kept company by a dream of her…

But just as lonely being kept by a figment of her, while the reality of her was elsewhere.

Kugo and Izuku talked a while longer before she had to hang up, and then he was closing his eyes and leaning back in his chair, thinking of her again.

"Hey Sandman, bring me a dream, won't you?" he mumbled.

Give me the cutest girl, hair as wild and green as a jungle, with freckled cheeks and peridots for eyes…
