Chapter 2
The next morning we can find Naruto, Jiraiya, and the Sandaime in his office waiting for Minato and Kushina.
Naruto was still shocked by how the Sandaime easily had believed in her story. It seemed that all of her worries were for nothing. Then again, the Hokage wasn't known as Professor without a reason.
A dozen minutes after her appearance in the Hokage's office a knock on the door startled Naruto. She hadn't expected this to happen so fast. For her, it was almost too fast but she knew it needed to be done. When the Hokage opened the door, Naruto at least tried to mentally prepare herself.
Kushina had been summoned to the Hokage's office at exactly eight in the morning. She didn't know why, though. Maybe it was about the Fox's disappearance? Or maybe another mission?. Suddenly she had run into Minato on the way there. She had known him since she entered the Academy when she came here.
At first, she had thought he was just a pansy. A sissy boy who would never ever beat anyone. But, after the incident with Kumo, she found herself to fall in love with him. Of course, that oblivious idiot's never realized it. And he was supposed to be called a prodigy. Yeah. One big joke.
"Minato! You were called there too?" she asked keeping pace with him. "I haven't seen you around much lately! Where have you been, dattebane?!"
Minato laughed a little nervously. Honestly, Kushina often scared him with her temper. She was a great friend to have, one of the few women in Konoha that weren't part of his fan club and the best person to scare his fangirls off. It was also because of her he had become interested in Fuuinjutsu. Despite her temper, he considered her as one of his best friends if not his best friend.
"I'm sorry Kushina. I've been busy with my new genin team." She looked skeptical, however, she accepted the excuse when they reached the door to the Hokage's office. Knocking on the door they stepped in.
Naruto almost choked when she saw the male figure. The man had spiky blond hair and dark blue eyes.
This was no doubt Namikze Minato, her father, Konoha's Yellow Flash, the Future Yondaime Hokage, the man who died sealing Kyuubi into her.
'He's not your father anymore kit.'
After when she used this damn scroll she found that her appearance has changed. Her earlier long spiky hair was now straight and from half of their length wavy. Its color was still blond but had fairer hue. The same was with the hue of the color of her eyes. Earlier dark blue, now fair blue. The biggest change was, though, the color of her skin. It used to be tanned, but now it was pale.
Kurama explained to her when she had found out the differences in her appearance that it is one of the consequences of traveling back in time before your birth. He explained that her DNA has changed because genetically it was impossible for her original DNA existed. She still was an Uzumaki though because it was essential she could survive as the Jinchuuriki of the Kyuubi. So right now she was a very distant cousin to her mother and in no degree related to her father.
'I know Kurama. I don't even consider this Minato as my father. After all, he's only a few years older than me and I'm not even related to him right now. The same applies to this Kushina.'
She turned to take a glance at the female figure. Her breath hitched. Uzumaki Kushina, her future mother in her original time, and the ex-vessel of the Kyuubi.
'Kit, calm down.'
'I know, I know. I'm calming down, Kyu.'
"Minato-kun, Kushina-san this is Uzumaki Naruto." the Sandaime introduced, deciding to start up simple. The next information wouldn't be an easy one.
"What?! She's an Uzumaki?! Sandaime-sama but you had told me that no one survived the attack on my former village, dattebane. And how she can be an Uzumaki. She doesn't have red hair, dattebane." Kushina screamed out.
Naruto sweatdropped. 'Seriously? I'm not an Uzumaki because I don't have red hair?!' In her mind, she could hear Kurama burst into laughter. She could see Sandaime and Ero-sennin silently laughed from Kushina's comment.
"That's true. But Naruto wasn't born in Uzushiogakure and she's never even visited the village before the attack. And she doesn't have red hair because she isn't full-blooded Uzumaki. But I can assure you Kushina-san that you both are from the same clan."
"For many years I even haven't known I was a member of a clan. Only a few years ago I have found out about this. But it was too late." the blond girl said sadly. Minato and Kushina's expressions were a mixture of shock and disbelief.
"But how is it even possible? Even now the Uzumaki name is still famous." asked Minato who snapped out of the shock.
"That's a part of the reason why I called you here Minato-kun, Kusina-san. From now on, Naruto-san is the new Jinchuuriki of the Kyuubi." Hiruzen informed both of them.
The reaction was instant. Kushina whirled around, staring at Naruto in shock while Minato stared blankly at the blond girl.
"What do you mean she is the new Jinchuuriki, dattebane?" Kushina and Minato stared at the Hokage demanding answers.
"I very well understand your shock. It was a shock to me as well, but let me explain first." It was not a request, and both of them understood that. "Please, sit down Kusina-san, Minato kun."
Reluctantly, the redhead sat down but shot Naruto a glare. Minato, however, was wary but willing to listen so he could better understand what was going on.
When finally everyone was calm, Sarutobi started telling the story he, Jiraiya and Naruto had come up with.
"On the day when Naruto-san was born a couple of people from her birthland wished to turn her into a weapon. Apparently, they had a portion of Kyuubi's chakra locked away. Unfortunately, I do not know how they had such a thing. In the short time after Naruto-san was born, the chakra was sealed into her. However there was a huge price. Her own father used a forbidden seal giving his own life to seal the vile chakra into her. Her seal, unlike yours Kushina-san, allows Naruto-san to access and draw on the Kyuubi chakra. After this, Naruto-san was raised in an orphanage and it was hidden from her for years that the Uzumaki name was actually a clan name. She was shunned, abandoned and seen as a monster for the burden she held into her. Naruto-san informed me that she didn't know what she held until she was twelve when she first time encountered the Fox. Soon afterwards, she found out what happened on the day of her birth and decided to leave her homeland. As she grew and traveled she formed a bond with the Kyuubi. Kushina-san, she did not know you were also the vessel of the Kyuubi. She only knew she had a portion of the Fox inside of her."
Sarutobi stopped letting them both absorb what he'd told them. It was exactly as Naruto had said. The best lie was the one that was created of half-truths and lies.
After letting them take it in he continued speaking.
"During her travels, she met Jiraiya. When he had found out she is an Uzumaki he proposed her to come to our village..."
"But this little girl is very stubborn and it had taken some time before she agreed to come here." interrupted Jiraiya.
"And are you surprised?" Naruto asked rhetorically with a raised eyebrow.
Minato's mind was reeling. Her own father had sealed that vile chakra inside his own daughter? What kind of monster tries to make his own child into a weapon? He looked at the blond girl with sad eyes. He wanted to say something but had completely no idea what he should tell the burdened girl.
Kushina stayed silent, reviewing what she'd just been told. She'd come to Konoha to become the next Jinchuuriki giving up her life in her own village to take on such a burden. Right now, she's informed that this girl she'd never heard of before is taking the burden away from her. She didn't know how she was supposed to feel. Guilty, because she was taking it all on her own? Mad, because this girl had been used when she was just a little baby?
"It's alright." Naruto suddenly spoke up, drawing everybody's attention. "I don't mind being a Jinchuuriki anymore. I've lived for sixteen years with the furball. In fact, we've gotten along pretty well." she smiled a bit trying to assure both of them.
Alright? Kushina didn't see how this could be 'alright'. After a moment, she stood up and came to Naruto stopping in front of her. Looking into her eyes she saw sincerity. Then she leaned down pulling a very confused blond into a hug.
"I'm really sorry for what happened to you." Kushina said softly. She was sorry for her. She was that she had been forced to with such a burden as a baby. She was sorry she had been used in that horrible way by her own father. The bastard was lucky he was dead because if she ever met him, she would beat him to a pulp.
"It's ok. Really. I actually like the furball so I really don't mind." Naruto stammered surprised by the unexpected hug.
"You won't be alone in this. I'll help you the best as I can. It's the least I can do. And after all we are a family." Kushina promised.
"I... Thank you." Naruto said softly, surprised. Then again, she was the only one who could truly understand what she was going through when it came to being a Jinchuuriki. "I really appreciate it."
Sarutobi was pleased this went so well. Minato was oddly silent, but Kushina seemed to have accepted everything.
"Does anyone has any questions?" They all shook their heads. "Good I have paperwork to do, so you are all dismissed."
About to leave, Naruto suddenly hesitated. "Actually, I have a question. Where will I be living?"
