Author Note

Okay so I decided to do Harry Potter for Level 3 and I won't be posting it all at once as I'm taking my time with the second part of this story as I'm not sure that to write. If at all possible I want to do four chapters, to double the length of the last story, but I'm having a little trouble writing it. If you have any ideas that could help please send them my way via a message.

This first part is just a little record keeping. Feel free to skip it.

Documents used. Waifu Catalog CYOA and Waifu Catalog Rules, Controls, Perks, I found links to these on the Questionable Questing site. I can't link direct so look for posts by SwiftRosenthal to find the documents.

Diagon Alley. Wizarding World.

When time unfroze my waifu and I found ourselves in another location, we all quickly looked around the flat we'd suddenly appeared in, and after peeking out of a window it became clear that this apartment was above a shop within Diagon Alley. I'd have recognised the place even without my new memories filling me in on at least some of the details.

Once that was done I checked my phone for more data about what we would be doing while in this world. I had a new set of memories that would allow me to blend in here, and my own knowledge of the setting to help, but the more information I had about this world the better for us, and the more easily I should be able to fulfil whatever roles we had to play while here.

"According to the smartphone, the objective I need to complete for this level is to successfully teach Defence Against the Dark Arts for the entire school year" I informed the group "and that's going to take more than nine months to do".

I was rather surprised by this as while it made sense for each level to last longer than the last, as well as to be more difficult to complete, this was a rather large leap in terms of time spent. To go from hours, then to days, and now to more than half a year was more than a little unexpected by myself as well as the waifu with me.

"Perhaps the amount of time you have to complete the objective, and the objective itself, is based more on the setting than the difficulty of the level" suggested T'Pol "or maybe there are many waifu to captured here meaning that you will need more time".

Her logic turned out to be somewhat sound as there was a long list of potential waifu for me to try capturing.

Hermione Granger (Tier 5)

Fleur Delacour (Tier 5)

Nymphadora Tonks (Tier 5)

Luna Lovegood (Tier 4)

Ginny Weasley (Tier 4)

Cho Chang (Tier 3)

Susan Bones (Tier 3)

Hannah Abbot (Tier 3)

Lavender Brown (Tier 3)

Parvati Patil (Tier 3)

Padme Patil (Tier 3)

Eloise Midgen (Tier 3)

Romilda Vane (Tier 3)

Daphe Greengrass (Tier 3)

Lisa Turpin (Tier 3)

Flora Carrow (Tier 3)

Hestia Carrow (Tier 3)

Tracey Davis (Tier 3)

Li Su (Tier 3)

Soon all of this began to make sense to me thanks to the new memories in my mind. I'd been appointed Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher after the book and films ended, and because of the final battle the school had closed for repairs, then when the new school year started Hogwarts reopened and students who wished to could return to do their final year even if they should have already graduated so that they could do their NEWT exams.

It seemed as if many girls from Harry Potter's world had decided to do that, and since they were all over 18 according to their bios I could attempt to capture all of them, even those not in school, such as Tonks, who should be dead at this point in the timeline. Now that length of time to complete this level made much more sense. T'Pol's logic had indeed been sound.

I would have to be careful when luring and binding at least some of these girls, I didn't think I'd try to take them all, and any binding of students, if discovered by the staff, would get me sacked, and since my objective was to teach for the school year I couldn't afford to get caught so I would have to be careful in how I went about binding some witches to me.

If I took the risk I could end up making a lot of credits from this Jump as the capture value for a Tier 4 waifu was 8 points and a Tier 5 waifu was sixteen points, so I could sell some witches for their full values, assuming I would be able to bring myself to do that, and perhaps I wouldn't have to since their capture value was still rather good.

"So Velma you'll be my teaching assistant" I informed her "That will give you plenty of time to research the magic of this world".

Like me, all of my waifu had been given roles so that they could blend in within this world, Velma was my TA. As such even if she didn't share my affinity to rapidly learn magic thanks to the recent perk I'd gotten she'd have a long time to learn, and her natural intelligence would aid with that.

"Lara you are a curse breaker who works for Gringotts" I informed the Tomb Raider.

She took this information in stride, because she already knew, and because it made sense.

"Well I do have experience recovering treasures from around the world," she said, "Now they'll just be even more magic involved".

I read out some more information. The waifu would already know their roles so mostly this was for my benefit, and to make sure that everyone understood what would be happening to them and other waifu, while I was off teaching and recruiting witches.

"Hoshi and T'Pol you both work for the ministry" I read out from the phone

The Ministry of Magic (M.o.M.) is the main governing body of the magical community of Great Britain (i.e. England, Scotland and Wales) as well as Ireland which wasn't a separate nation in the Magical World, with the intention of preservation of magical law. The Ministry connected the British government to the wizarding world as the Ministry of Magic is supposed to be like the Ministry of Transport or Education and in theory, the Minister of Magic answered to the Prime Minister, but in reality, few in the government of Great Britain even knew that magic existed.

"Hoshi you are in the Department of International Magical Cooperation," I said.

I knew that The Department of International Magical Cooperation was a division of the Ministry of Magic which, as its name suggests, tries to get wizards from different countries to work together. It is the closest thing the magical peoples had to the British Foreign & Commonwealth Office in the Muggle World.

The duties of this department are to work with magical governments of other countries, set standards for trade, create regulations for things like cauldron thickness, interpret international magical law, work with Department of Magical Games and Sports on stuff like the Triwizard Tournament, and to have a presence at the International Confederation of Wizards. I felt certain that Hoshi's language skills would serve her well at her new job.

"T'Pol you're with the Department of Mysteries," I said next.

The Department of Mysteries was a section of the Ministry of Magic that carried out confidential research. Most of its operations are carried out in total secrecy. Few wizards within the Ministry actually know what is located within this department, though it was known to me that the various mysteries of the world are studied there, these include, love, space, thought, time, death, and some others I had no knowledge about. Those wizards who work in the Department of Mysteries are known as Unspeakables because of the confidential nature of their work, and they were the closest thing the magical world that to scientists so it made sense that T'pol was going there.

Due to the highly classified nature of this department, it is granted a great deal of independence, being the only one within the entire Ministry that does not need to answer to the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. Even the Minister for Magic has very little authority over the department's operations, as the fifteenth Minister's attempt to shut down the branch was ignored by the Unspeakables.

"I will use this level to research as much as possible on the subject of magic and this magical world as I can," said the alien babe.

While setting up things for this level I'd decided to get a magic-user, and Isabela had suggested her friend Merril since she was magical and would bond quickly with the group with Isabela's help.

The history of this world seemed to have been re-written to allow for the existence of elves other than the house kind. I now had knowledge of three new races of elves that now existed as part of this world, wood elves, who basically the Dalish of Dragon Age in the world of Harry Potter, and the Dark Elves, who were much like the Drow of the Forgotten Realms.

While the wood elves lived in peace, hidden in forests that didn't appear on maps of the world's that muggles kept, the dark elves were much like the goblins, they lived hidden underground and were still somewhat evil, only rather than run the banks they were the Wizarding World's lawyers and stockbrokers.

From what my new knowledge told me some wood elves marry and bred with humans, much like the Veela, and the offspring of these mating can use wand-magic and look human, but they do have some elf traits, they can navigate the wilderness, communicate with plants in some sense and they can magically shape wood to make things such as the staffs they carried.

Lastly, there were the High Elves, the most powerful of the three Elf races, and T'pol was now a member of that race. Thankfully the High Elves were basically Vulcans with magic so this wouldn't be too much of an adjustment for her to put up with while we were here.

I knew about some stuff that didn't appear in the books/films. This made sense as the writings of JK Rowling centre around a schoolboy and the stories were aimed at children so they didn't need to explain everything. Also, I suspect that this version of Harry Potter's world had either been altered so that at least some of my group fitted in, or we'd been sent to a version of that world that suited us best. I had no idea which as the game didn't explain these things, it must not have been fully developed.

"Merril, you're a magical gardener" I read out "this should give you plenty of chances to gather potion ingredients for us".

The cute elf gave everyone a quick wave.

"Don't worry, I'll do my best" assured Merril.

Like the other Waifu that I'd paid for she seemed to understand her role, and would quickly adjust to what she needed to do.

"I'm a bloody bar wench again!" Isabela yelled when I finally got to her.

This was the case. She was the barmaid at the Three Broomsticks in Hogsmede.

Hogsmeade Village, simply called Hogsmeade by most people, was the only all-wizarding village in Britain. It was founded by Hengist of Woodcroft. Since before 1714 (when the 1714 Edict was passed), Hogwarts third years and above have been permitted weekend trips into the village. Which for some reason the game had decided that I needed to know.

Due to my new memories, I knew that many witches and wizards would visit the High Street in the village which contains the named speciality shops and pubs that are mentioned in the books, such as Zonko's Joke Shop and the sweet shop called Honeydukes. Otherwise, they wander on to observe the infamous Shrieking Shack, from a safe distance.

"Sorry," I told the waifu "The game controls our identities and I don't know how the perks and stuff I pick affects them".

Isabela decided to grumble for a while as there was no around here for her to blame. Well, she could have blamed me for picking her as waifu, but chose not to do that.

"You'll have time to read a lot about magic," I told the pirate babe "and someone as good looking as you will make loads of money in tips, and that means plenty of shopping".

That cheered her up.

"My new memories have informed me that this street is a major shopping centre for the magical community" T'pol was now saying "Perhaps we should tour it and see what we can buy here that will aid us in future levels".

I gave this some thought.

"In this world, they have a kind of pouches of holding," I told the group, in case they didn't already know, "If we each get one of those we'll be able to carry a lot around with us, but the best ones will be expensive".

Money could be an issue as I not been able to gather anything to use for barter or currency. An oversight of mine, but in my defence this whole thing had been poorly organised, I'd not had much time to plan things out, and I didn't know what would happen during levels until after they started.

"If we all have jobs won't we have a salary?" questioned Velma.

While I hadn't started my job yet, I had been a member of The Magical Law Enforcement Squad which was a subdivision of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement in the Ministry of Magic. The squad was comprised of a team of wizards and witches tasked with general law enforcement.

Aurors like Alistair Moody were the elite dark wizard catchers, and they went after Death Eaters, dangerous creatures, the big stuff like that, but most arrests in this world were carried out on lesser crooks, and while that meant I wasn't as skilled in magical combat as the Aurors, I still had training and some talent for combat with magic. Plus I was very good at Apparition, which was a magical form of transportation, in which the user travels instantly from one location to another, without traversing the space in-between, and had to be good at this when most of the adult population you policed could also teleport.

It made sense that I wouldn't be one of the Aurors as I was supposed to be able to blend in with the background as characters the Aurors were somewhat famous or infamous depending on whose side you were on. Basically put the Aurors were like government agents who went after dangerous terrorists were as I was a police detective who'd been sent to teach at a school.

There were some important differences between myself and the Aurors, they were allowed to use even the Unforgivable Curses when facing dark wizards were as I was not, and wouldn't even know how to use them correctly, but stuff like that I could ponder over later on.

From what I could recall I hadn't been too lowly ranked in the Law Enforcement department of the Ministry so I should have gotten paid well enough.

"Then we should have accounts at Gringotts," I said to the group "and if so we should have keys to vaults at the bank, and wands too, let's have a look around".

The flat we were in seemed to be much larger on the inside than it could be on the outside, and we all had our own bedrooms. Within my rather plain bedroom, I found a wand in a draw along with a small money pouch, robes in the wardrobe, a broomstick under the bed, a flying one hopefully, and what I knew to be my badge from my last job, that I still technically had as I'd been transferred to Hogwarts to teach for a school year, I also found some male hygiene products that were magical in origin.

I took this chance to change into the set of robes that made me feel the least like a dork, grabbed my wand (that felt good in my hands even if I had no idea what it was made from) the money pouch and then I made my way back into the living room. Since there was no Wizarding television the chairs and such were arranged to face the fireplace, and there was a wizarding wireless set in here, that along with the books shelves meant that we had some forms of entertainment in our new home.

When my waifu rejoined me, and they now all looked as if they would blend in, we headed out to visit the bank. As we did I noticed that the elves in the group carried staffs rather than wands. Merril's looked more like a tree branch than anything else while T'pols staff was made out of some sort of metal and had symbols carved into it. I knew this was important because it was against the law for a non-human to make use of wand as such we couldn't just go and buy them one. Not that they would need them as elves had powerful magic.

"Okay let's go check out Diagon Alley," I said to my waifu.

(Line Break)

Diagon Alley. Wizarding World.

After visiting the bank my waifu and I had decided to split up so that we could get an idea of what was here in the alley and do some shopping before the stores closed. Velma and I headed right for the main bookstore here in the alley.

Carefully I pushed the door to the bookstore open. Then I walked inside a few steps before I stopped and once Velma was inside I let the door close behind me as I took in the smell. Candles and dry paper. That was a very nice smell, although it seemed like a big fire waiting to happen. If I'd gone to Hogwarts as a student I'd have so been a Ravenclaw, that was for sure. I really did love books. Knowledge was worth far more than things like jewels, yet it was not normally something you could touch. Books changed that. You could own the knowledge, treasure it, at least in part.

Seeing as there was nobody insight to help me find what I sought. I continued further into the store and ventured into the stacks in order to see what I could find. This place was a gold mine of magical learning and I hummed happily to myself while wandering through the stacks, ignoring the more advanced books for now and continued to the shelf with the sign 'First Year Literature' hanging above.

I had the memories of someone who'd been homeschooled rather than sent to Hogwarts as such my education hadn't come from books like these, rather I'd been taught to do things by example, as such I didn't much knowledge of how magic actually worked. Not that this stopped me from casting spells or getting a job at the Ministry as I just needed to know how to cast the spells in my line of work.

After taking the book with the imaginative name 'The Standard Book of Spells, Grade 1' from the shelf I started to flip through it. I smiled slightly as I spotted a familiar spell from the first movie, one that unlocked doors. Here it was, the incantation, wand movement, the intent of the spell. An entire page worth in total. But no 'how' and 'why does it work' explanation. I kept flipping through the book and found that all of the spells were like that. This was an issue as I wanted to understand why wand magic worked, what made it so easy to use compared to the other forms of spell casting I'd seen in fiction.

Wanting to find this knowledge in its most simply explained form, which it should be in these books, I pulled out a charms class book and began flipping through it while looking for the information I desired. Yet I found nothing that even hinted at why the spells worked. Perhaps that knowledge was elsewhere.

Moving on I continued slowly along the shelf, checking the titles for something a bit more informative, or at the very least something I can learn from to make my spellcasting more effective in battle. So far I'd not been placed in any danger, but that could change in future levels and I wanted to be prepared.

It didn't take me long before on a new shelf I found a book called 'Magical Duels' that looked promising and I pulled it from the shelf, starting to flip through it, skimming the text before deciding if I would use my limited funds to buy it or not. My salary wasn't very impressive, but my expenses would be minor during my time in this world as Hogwarts teachers got free room and board, or at least they paid for it directly out of their quite generous salaries. I would have to pay my share of the rent on the flat here in the ally but that was divided between myself and my waifu and they would have to pay the rest of their expenses themselves.

Upon skimming the book I discovered that it went on about how different wand movements and the syllables of the incantation which made up spells that were used in duels, as well how they could be used non-verbally. Again it didn't have much to say on why these spells worked, but they did work, as such the book could be useful so I closed it and checked the price. Two Galleons, rather pricey, but likely worth it. It was a good starting point at the very least to learn some battle magic beyond that know by a magical police officer.

On the way to the store's counter, I went back and picked up the standard book of spells grade one as well as I would need to make sure that I understood the basics. More books I would get from the library at the school.

Next, I grabbed a book on potions, as well as the Complete Encyclopedia of Wizarding Charms, Hexes, Jinxes, Spells and Curses, A compendium of some five-hundred-plus spells, compiled by some called Everard Alabastor Underwood.

Nobody was at the front counter so I rang the small bell that was on it. It only took a moment before a tired-looking man wandered in from the back room.

"Find everything you need, sir?" he asked in a bored tone of voice.

It looked that way.

"Yes, thank you. I would like these books" I said.

He nodded and checked their prices.

"That will be twelve Galleons for the lot," he said.

I grimaced slightly and counted it out from my pockets. That was a lot more money than it sounded. Clearly they had printing presses here, otherwise, there would be no newspaper, so the books seemed pricey. Perhaps the authors just got paid a lot more in this world or some of the books were first editions. Given the exchange rate, I'd just spent nearly sixty pounds in Muggle money.

"Here you go," I said as I handed him the gold.

The wizard nodded.

"Have a nice day," he said before he wandered off again, causing me to frown.

Not the best customer service, he hadn't even offered me a bag, but then again how much business this place get when there isn't the rush for the school books? All the kids must be waiting for the last week of the holidays before they did their back to school shopping. If I spent the rest of the year barely getting customers I wouldn't be too energetic about my work either. Plus I'd worked in retail I knew how dull it could get sometimes.

It was at this point that I remembered that there were books I needed for teaching my class and that no one had told me what they were. I could only hope the store clerk knew as the books would have been on the students reading list on their Hogwarts letters and he must have seen those by now.

(Line Break)

Hogwarts. Wizarding World.

"These are your quarters, Professor" Filch said as he opened the door.

I nodded as I walked inside, looking around. It all seemed serviceable enough to me. The stone walls had at some point been covered with wooden panels. There were a pair of windows in the furthest wall. Also some paintings on the walls that moved, they would have to go, as I didn't want people spying on me even if they weren't really people. Other than that it was basically a small two-room apartment. A living area, a bedroom, and there was actually a bathroom too with modern plumbing, so make that three rooms.

"Thank you, Mr Filch," I said as I turned to the sour old caretaker

He just grunted, and I was left wondering if I should tip him or not.

"What about the furniture?" I asked.

Moving it in myself would be a pain but I would handle it if I had to. Most of the school was bare at this point due to all of the rebuilding

"Call the elves," he said as he motioned towards a bell hanging from a string in the corner next to the door.

I had wondered how one summoned a house-elf if you didn't know their name, now I knew.

"Would you like me to show you your classroom now?" he then asked "If so be quick I have work to do. Things need to be put in order before the horrid brats return to ruin my life".

I shook my head

"No, that is fine, Mr Filch. I'm sure you have better things to do than play tour guide" I said.

He nodded and turned to leave before he paused

"Welcome to Hogwarts, Professor Gothic," the squib said just before he closed the door behind him on his way out.

At this point in my day, I spent a few moments simply chuckling to myself. I never would have imagined myself to be teaching at any school, never mind a school of magic. This game that I was playing it didn't always make sense as I didn't understand all the rules, but it sure was a lot of fun.

I took another quick look around my quarters, before pushing the door open into the bathroom that I'd already given a quick glance. It had the usual facilities, as well as one of those fancy baths with several faucets, even another of those damn portraits. Who the hell would put one of these things in the damn bathroom? That was just downright creepy.

Once I had some idea of what I wanted in here I walked over to ring the bell. It took only a moment until a small grey creature with giant eyes was looking up at me

"Yous call Happy, sir?" the creature asked me.

He or she, assuming they had any gender, didn't look that happy.

"Ah, yes. I need some furniture" I requested.

The entire place needed filling it was going to be made not only habitable but also comfortable. After all, I would be living here at the school for more than half a year, and I might even be here for Christmas as a certain number of teachers had to remain at the school over the holidays depending on how many students needed to. This also applied to the weeks off at Easter.

"I need a bed and so on," I said "A comfy chair by the fire, a desk if you can fit it in. I'm sure you know what's best".

It wasn't as if I couldn't change things later.

"And I want those portraits removed" I then finished.

The small creature nodded.

"Yes, sir. We can do that. What sort furniture do yous want?" it then asked.

I frowned slightly. I had been hoping that the House Elves didn't need precise instructions. In the books, they just seemed to get on with things.

"Something that goes with the dark wood on the walls, and it must be comfortable. A large bed, some chairs, a table, some bookshelves. You know, the usual? Oh, and a comfy chair by the fire. I must have a comfy chair for my reading".

The house-elf nodded quickly and snapped its fingers, causing the portraits to float off the walls and shrink down to nothing before the elf took them popped out. What followed that was a flurry of house-elves popping in with furniture for me to approve and to tell them where to put them.

Once it was all over I collapsed into my new comfy chair, feeling slightly overwhelmed. I might be somewhat used to strangeness since starting this game, but as it turned house-elves were less like happy servants and more like small grey cleaning versions of Pinky Pie, at least in terms of energy levels. I felt tired just from watching them work.

"Yous have anything you wants now Professor?" Happy then asked me.

I soon nodded

"Yes Happy, to start with, I'd like to say thank you very much for all your help," I said before making my request "I could use a nice cup of tea. Milk with two sugars if you please".

The elf nodded happily and popped out. A second later she popped back in carrying a tray with sandwiches, a slice of cake, and a pot of tea upon it. She/he or it put it all on the small table next to my chair and then popped back out again. Apparently the House-elves believe in serving proper afternoon tea. How British.

Once the House Elf was gone I decided that I had time to do some reading before arranging my class I took out the book on battle magic and started to read. I had a lot of studying to do. I intended to become a very powerful magic user so that I would not be helpless in any future levels. So far I'd been lucky, but the easy levels would soon be behind me and I had to be prepared.

(Line Break)

Classroom. Hogwarts School.

Currently, I stood in the middle of my classroom, or what soon would be my classroom, and looked around. Wooden floor, stone walls, windows on each side and a blackboard. However, there were no desks or chairs for the students to use.

The stairs to my office could be found behind my desk. I was pretty sure that this was the same classroom used by Glidory Lockhart in the second Harry Potter movie only with almost everything taken out. Thankfully for my students, I wouldn't even think about unleashing pixies upon them, if only because I'd feel sorry for the pixies.

"Happy?" I asked the empty air and the elf popped out of nowhere.

I'd already discovered that if you knew a House Elf's name you could summon them with it. Which in my view was another valid reason not to go around giving people your real name. I for one did not want to end up popping up in odd places every time someone wanted my help. Not that this was likely to happen during this level, but it paid to be careful when you were dealing with magical forces.

"Happy help, sir?" the magical creature asked me.

I told the elf that I needed desks and chairs for twenty students. Classes sizes would vary as Defence was a mandatory subject until the OWL exams were done, and after that I got to set the standard for entry into the NEWT classes, meaning I could take only the best students for my NEWT class if I wished, but I wouldn't do that as it would deny students a chance to have their desired careers.

From what my teacher's guide told me, and this was a book that new teachers were given, mandatory classes always contained half of each year, two houses worth, this meant about twenty students in a full pre-OWL class with some variation as birthrates in the Wizarding World began to increase after Voldemort's first fall so the classes below the 7th year started to get bigger the younger the students were.

Since there were seven years in total that meant I had fourteen classes a week, with three lessons a day, aside from Friday when I only had two classes in the morning before lunch, meaning that I had Friday afternoons off unless I had to cover for another teacher. My mornings would involve teaching the fuller classes leaving the afternoons for the more advanced NEWT level students, and they'd need the most help.

"You like, Sir?" asked the elf.

I nodded as I eyed the closest desk. It was made from brown wood and was just about wide enough for two people to share it. This would do.

"Anything else, sir?" the creature asked

This all looked fine to me.

"Not at the moment, Happy. Thanks again for all your help," I replied.

The elf smiled and then popped out. Leaving me to think. While leaning against my desk, I crossed my arms and spent some time thinking.

One problem with taking this post: I would actually need to teach. Putting together the lesson plans was a total female dog I'd already discovered even with Velma's help. An exam both written and practical was something that I would have to create for everyone who wasn't doing their OWLs or NEWTs

I pushed off the desk and started to make my way towards the door, nodding in approval at the change of furniture in the main room. This now looked like a proper classroom, and I might actually be able to pull off teaching while in here.

Now for a quick look around the castle and then to the library to see if I could find some books to for my own studies.
