Gallivanting God

Chapter 1

Rain poured over Konohagakure, unusual for the time of year, but not entirely foreign. The rain forced many of those who were usually out, in. Except for the young Uzumaki Naruto. He had been back in Konohagakure for only a day, since his first C-turned-A-Rank mission ended. That mission had been an eye opener for the young Genin. He experienced his first taste of death, the death of someone close to Naruto. He also experienced his first blood, having killed some of the thugs that had been stupid enough to remain after Zabuza's display of spirit. Because of the nature of their mission, Team 7 was given a week to recuperate and receive council if need be. The blonde Jinchuriki didn't think twice about going to council.

He would rather drop dead than let someone else know about the inner depths of his emotions. The fact that he had killed someone, hadn't bothered Naruto much, the blonde understood that as a Shinobi you had to get your hands dirty. Some may have questioned his mental sanity at that, but Naruto hadn't grown up in the best of conditions, so he didn't think twice of it. After all, he had some of the homeless of Konoha die in front of him.

The blonde was sitting on a tree branch that spread over the village and provided useful passageways over the town. Usually at this time, Naruto would be training. But today, the blonde just felt lethargic. The rain aside from taking away the Sun, it had the ability to take away his ever-present energy to do anything and everything? That was not the case. Rather, it stripped away the mask Naruto kept up, to always be happy and smile through everything. On this rainy day in Konoha, Naruto Uzumaki could relax. He didn't have to put up any false pretences of being happy or wanting to be acknowledged. The blonde could simply sit in the shade of one of the many trees that blossomed around the village and think.

To many, Naruto was thought of as someone who didn't think, but the boy did nothing but that. His temper was short, and he still gave in to impulses, but Naruto Uzumaki was someone who had more time to think than anyone. He was a lone orphan, who lived by himself. The blonde was very careful with how he acted around others, even his own Team. Whilst someone like Kakashi was a Jonin, Naruto was sure the man didn't think twice about why Naruto acted boisterous and cocky. Naruto was proud that he could fool someone like Kakashi Hatake. The same man who told him to always "Look underneath the underneath."

The blonde also realised, that Kakashi didn't seem to care much about actual training. Yes, the Jonin made them go through team formations, but it was becoming irksome. The only real Ninja Training they had ever gotten from him, was during the mission to Wave. Where they learned and mastered the Tree Walking exercise. The blonde had wanted to go to the library to see if there were any more Chakra control exercises, he could learn.

The only thing stopping him was the fact that the librarians hated his guts and wouldn't allow him through the front door. But, sitting alone on this branch, Naruto had come to decide many things, one of them was that, his pride be damned, he would get into the Library. The librarians themselves wouldn't allow him inside, but they would allow anyone else. A simple Henge and the blonde would be in, free to digest all the information he needed to. Another thing the Jinchuriki came to a decision about was, upping his training. He had never really known what it would be like in the outside world, outside of Konoha. His first C-Rank Mission, Naruto could never have been more grateful that it was to escort Tazuna to Wave.

Because of the struggle he faced fighting Zabuza and Haku, and even the Demon Brothers, Naruto was ready to up his training and truly break his limits. But still, he had to plan his training regime, so for today, it would be a trip to the library. With a simple hand sign, Naruto transformed into that a of a nondescript Chunin he had seen in the village at some point. Quickly hopping out of the branch he was in; Naruto made his way along the tree routes that spread throughout the village. Making sure to head on one that was closest to the library, the blonde arrived there not five minutes later.

Coming down from the tree branch soundlessly, Naruto casually strode into the library, no one being any wiser to his presence. The Librarians at the reception desk didn't spare a glance towards him, as they had seen a speck of green of the flak vest from the corner of their vision and didn't bother to look up. With that out the way, Naruto seamlessly made his way towards the section of the library that housed Jutsu and Chakra Control techniques. These were not readily available to the public and were only accessibly Shinobi. Higher Ranking shinobi could access more information from the library, but at that point, it's better to have a Sensei to teach you more advanced techniques.

Naruto stopped in one of the Chakra control sections, seeing as there were so many scrolls and books about all this, he decided to speed up the process. Silently putting his fingers into a cross shape, Naruto made four Kage Bunshin, they already knew what to do and set off to find more books for the blonde to read. After five minutes of searching, the original winced in pain, feeling a phantom throb on his head. He clearly remembered something falling and hitting him in the head. But at the same time, Naruto knew that he didn't have that happen to him. Naruto walked over to where he remembered being hit in the head, and could see a couple of scrolls strewn about on the floor, with a large black book in the centre of them all that simply read, "Fuinjutsu Vol. 1 – An Introduction"

"The hell… " Naruto muttered under his breath. It must have been one of his clones, all the scrolls were about Jutsu exercises. Something began forming in Naruto's mind, making another clone to pick up all the items on the floor, he went to find another one of his clones. It didn't take long, as he almost bumped into one on the way back to his table.
"Perfect, put those books on the table and I'll dispel you." The clone looked confused but complied none the less. After depositing the collection of scrolls and books on his reading table, Naruto dispelled the clone, and immediately his brain was filled with memories of the scrolls he had collected. Naruto's transformed face lit up with excitement. This newfound ability of his Kage Bunshin provided him with so many options, new ones being discovered as his brain connected all the dots.

"This… this is amazing! How the hell did I not know about this when learning the Kage Bunshin from that scroll? Then again, I was a wreck that night." Naruto questioned himself mentally as he made his way towards the other clones. Once Naruto had gotten all the clones back to his reading table, he dispelled them all. Letting his mind settle from the influx of memories, Naruto then began collecting all the reading material into a box and headed to reception. After a lengthy process of getting all his scrolls and books signed out, Naruto made his way towards his apartment, after going into an alley, Naruto dispelled his Henge and returned to his normal appearance.

Despite the rain persisting, Naruto couldn't help but feel a little bit happier. He had discovered a secret side to his Kage Bunshin technique. With how many Naruto could summon, Naruto had a feeling his training was going to drastically improve. But he still had many questions about the technique. Could the clones transfer physical fatigue? Physical Progress? Or perhaps it was only limited to Mental capabilities? He would have to test this out thoroughly.

Upon arriving in his apartment, Naruto set the box on his dining table and set about to making himself some lunch. On the way to the Library, Naruto also had made clones to do some proper grocery shopping for himself. As such his Kitchen, was fully stocked with all kinds of goods, including good cleaning supplies. Naruto quickly set about to making himself a proper lunch. His scrawny body, whilst powerful, could be better, stronger, faster. And that all started with a proper diet. Naruto had only ever eaten Ramen before because that's all he could afford. The villagers often overpriced their products to him. It happened even before he started his pranking spree, but now Naruto understood why they hated him. Even though the villagers were utterly pathetic and downright stupid, he didn't want to do anything that would hurt them. That would only impact his Ninja Career negatively. Unless of course, it fell under the protection of his S-Class Secret.

Once lunch was made, he sat down at his table and decided to pull out the book that hit one of the clones in the head. Extracting the large book entitled "Fuinjutsu Vol.1", Naruto sat the book down just in front of him, moving his plate to the side. Opening the book, Naruto was intrigued to see, a message inside, with that strange swirl that he'd seen on the back of every Jonin and Chunin's vest. The message was simple.

"Greetings,

It matters not who writes this message, it matters only who reads it. This book is about the most difficult of Shinobi Arts, Fuinjutsu. This book is also covered in seals, one of them scans the DNA of those who touch this. The reason why you can see this message is because you are of the same blood as I who writes this. You are of the Uzumaki Clan. A clan renown for their prowess and mastery of Fuinjutsu. However, due to recent events, the Uzumaki clan are on the brink of extinction. I leave this book in the hands of this village, in the hopes that you will learn your birth right and continue the legacy of the Uzumaki. Make your clan proud, Uzumaki, for you are only one of the few remaining of a dying clan."

Naruto stared at the book in shock, his food having fallen onto his table as he read the contents of the message. He was part of a clan? The Hokage had told him he was an orphan and didn't belong to a clan. Why had the Hokage lied to him? Why had the man he trusted the most in his life lied to him so easily? Perhaps, it was necessary, for the village, but that didn't mean Naruto had to like it. Naruto hated being lied to. Naruto hated a lot of things; he just didn't let on about them. The old man lost some of his esteemed footing in Naruto's eyes. If the old man could lie about the clan Naruto belonged to, then perhaps the old man lied about more things in Naruto's life? Naruto shook his head; he was losing focus. Quickly scarfing down his food, Naruto created as many Kage Bunshin as possible to read all the literature he acquired.

The blonde Jinchuriki's apartment was filled with many copies of himself reading. Some of them were on the ceiling, some were on the walls, but they all had scrolls and books in their hands. The blonde had closed his curtains as it hit 6pm. The blonde had never told anyone, but despite all that happened in his life, Naruto loved the night. It gave him privacy; it gave him a proper place to hide. That's why he loved being stealthy as well, it gave him the ability to go undetected by those who hated his guts. His orange jumpsuits, despite how much he detested how bright it was, proved to be an invaluable training material. His stealth skills had only increased after he bought them. Granted it was the only thing he could afford because everything else was so jacked up in price.

That was another thing Naruto had decided to change. His wardrobe. It couldn't be immediate; people would grow suspicious of the sudden lack of orange that many attributed that to his mask. In truth, Naruto did like orange, but only a small bit of it. He would rather something black or darker in colour. Even white was a good stealth colour. He had experimented over the years of his pranks; white was especially effective in the night. Whilst many looked for dark shapes, they wouldn't expect to look for something so bright in a dark setting. That was how Naruto had scaled the Hokage Monument at night which lead to him painting it during the early hours of morning, having abandoned his white sheet.

Naruto was interrupted from reading his Fuinjutsu book as a set of memories crashed into his brain. "A clone dispelled itself" he mused. The memories of learning about the leaf chakra control exercise were firmly implanted in his brain. He had forgotten them during the academy, the blonde had really hated learning in the academy. Half of the stuff he was taught seemed to do more damage to his learning experience rather than help it. Looking up from his book about Fuinjutsu, Naruto spoke to his clones.

"If any of you lot are done, take turns dispelling yourself, I don't want my brain to explode if you all dispel at the same time." Naruto heard numerous grunts in reply to his order. Deciding to take a break from reading his own book, Naruto stood up and stretched his limbs out. Hearing satisfying pops all over his body, Naruto could feel hunger calling to him. The blonde was about to get his sandals on and head to Ichiraku's but remembered, he had gone shopping earlier, and his kitchen was full of healthier food to eat. Naruto went over to his kitchen and peered over the contents of one magazine he had bought earlier. It detailed the instructions on how to make many meals. Naruto diligently got to work preparing his meal as his clones continued to dispel themselves in the background.

Once the blonde was done with dinner, all his clones had finished reading their literature and had dispelled. Naruto headed to his bedroom, taking the large book of Fuinjutsu with him. In only a matter of hours, it had become one of his most prized possessions. It was a link, to his clan. To his family. It was something Naruto would hold onto for life. The blonde sunk down into the mattress with his Fuinjutsu book in hand, reading it all the way up until he was ready to sleep at 10pm.

As Naruto was swallowed up in his pillows getting ready to sleep, he could only feel excitement. He had a gut feeling that his life was going to great for the next couple of months.

As he fell asleep, Naruto did not see holographic screen that appeared in front of his face. It was something only he could see, and it was going to change his life forever.
