Yondu's Funeral:

"Why did you zap me?!" Gamora shouted in tears at Rocket. "I could have saved them!"

Rocket didn't look at her. He was too ashamed of himself to answer

"How could you?!"

"Because you would have died if you did!" Nebula answered for her. "He saved your life!"

"But they're dead now!" Drax bellowed. "We could have saved them if we were quick enough!"

"That wouldn't have made a difference," a solemn Mantis spoke. He was sitting with his knees across against a wall, hanging in his head down in sadness, surrounded by Groot and the Guntrins. He had woken a little while ago and after learning what had happened to the twins, particularly Tina, had become very upset. He didn't feel like lashing out at Rocket like Drax and Gamora, because he had done what he had to do to save everyone.

He stood up and leaned his arms on the ledge of a window panel and looked out. His attenaes twitched as he noticed something, or somethings, drift out there. "Guys! Look!" Mantis pointed towards three floating figures out in space. "It's them!"

Gamora, Rocket and Drax instantly dashed to the window and saw what Mantis was seeing. Meredith and Groot hopped onto the ledges and looked out to them as well.

"It's them! It's them!" Drax cheered.

"Quickly Kraglin! Open the space hatch!" Gamora called up.

Kraglin did as she asked. He made the Quadrat drift closer and closer to the three float figures until he pressed another button and they were sucked inside.

Instantly the Guardians dashed down, hoping it was the twins and Yondu. They heard coughing and then crying.

"Guys!" Gamora shouted, earning their attention. She instantly the twins before they were engulfed in a giant group hug by Drax, Rocket, Groot and their Guntrins. Mantis smiled at the sight, but wasn't sure if he should join in.

Drax noticed he was feeling left out and held out a hand. He accepted it and pulled into the warm bear hug. Nebula didn't join in as she wasn't into 'warm family stuff' like that.

They noticed that Yondu's body was frozen and silent. They were so caught up in reuniting with the twins again that they'd forgotten about him.

They held flabbergasted faces as they realised, he was dead.

"He's dead," Tina began to cry again.

"He saved us," Peter sniffled.

"I am so sorry," Mantis sympathised sadly.

With that horrifying revelation, Tina and Peter were given another huge hug of comfort from the rest of their family.

Yondu's body was placed a carrier. The carrier was then decorated with candles and dolls and flowers. He still eyes and his face was then covered with all broken belt-buckles. Everyone except Nebula who slouched against a wall nearby surrounded him and looked at Peter and Tina as they shed silent tears.

"I told Gamora, how when the two of us were kids, we used to pretend that David Hasselhoff was our dad," Peter began.

Everyone except Gamora held a confused look.

"He's a singer and actor from Earth, who was a really famous guy, it really struck us," Tina explained to them.

"Yondu didn't have a talking car but he did have a flying arrow. He didn't have the beautiful voice of an angel, but he did have the whistle of one. Both Yondu and David Hasselhoff went on kick-ass adventures and hooked up with hot women and fought robots. I guess David Hasselhoff did kind of end up being our dad after all, and it was you, Yondu. We had had a pretty cool dad."

"I guess what we're trying to say is…sometimes the thing, that you've searching for, your whole life, it's been right there by your side all along," Tina wept. "And you don't even know it,"

Nebula, standing nearby unexpectantly left quietly. Gamora noticed and decided to follow her.

"I am Groot," Groot said.

"He did call you: 'Twig'," Rocket said to him.

Nebula was walking towards a ship when she heard her sister call to her, and stopped walking.

"Nebula, I was a child like you. And I was trying to stay alive until the next day and every day, but I never considered what Thanos was doing to you. I wish I had done now. I want to make it right.

There are many little girls out there, like us, across the universe. You can stay with us, and help them."
"I can help them, by killing Thanos," Nebula gently refused.

"I don't know if that's possible," Gamora shook her head.

Nebula tried to turn around but Gamora pulled her arm.

She turned on her with a grunt, holding up her fist to attack her if she tried to prevent her from leaving. But instead, what she received a slow gentle embrace.

"You will always be my sister," Gamora promised.

At those words, Nebula gently embraced her back. She then let Gamora go and went on her way out. Gamora watched her with tearful eyes.

Peter and Tina watched in tears as Yondu was loaded into the fire engine to be burnt into ashes, so he'd be lifted out into space to spend their afterlife in the stars.

They would never forget him. He was their real father, a 'daddy' who had given his life to save them both, who had raised them with love and care.

Peter embraced his twin and Tina tightly hugged him back.

"Hey twins," Kraglin said. "Yondu thought that you two might one day come back so he picked out these," he held to little devices that looked like two phones with earphones plugged in it. "They're called Zunes," he handed them over the twins.

"It's got 300 hundred songs each,"

"300 hundred songs?" both twins breathed out. Never in their lives had they had that much songs. It was such a lovely gift to have that would remind them of their 'dad'

"Hey Kraglin, Tina fished out from her waist bag, the newly-fix Yaka arrow. "Rocket grabbed the pieces and reassembled them. I think Yondu would want you to have it,"

"Thank you," Kraglin said.

Yondu's body was burnt in the fire engine, turning into ash that was then realised into space.

Peter and Tina decided to try out their new Zunes. They both selected Father and Son. Peter allowed Groot to share an earphone with him. So did Tina with Mantis when she noticed how interested he was in it.

Orlins and Meredith laid in small bundles on their owner's laps and they stroked their furry backs.

Rocket and Drax sat in seats feeling sad and sorrowful. Rocket looked outside the massive windshield. "They came," he held up a smile.

Tina looked out like he did to see what made him say that.

"Look," Tina pointed outwards and the Guardians saw hundreds of giant ships approaching them.

"What is it?" Drax asked as everyone stood up and Gamora rejoined them.

"I sent word to Yondu's old Ravanger buddies and told them what he did," Rocket answered.

They watched as the Ravangers surrounded them all.

"It's a Ravanger funeral," Peter realised.

Groot hopped from his shoulder onto Gamora's.

Outside the ship, all the ships started released multiple coloured blasts like fireworks. It was beautiful. Magnificent.

"Yes!" Kraglin exploded into peals of enjoyment. "Yes!"

"He didn't chase them away," Rocket said sadly.

"No," Tina agreed.

Even though he yelled at them. It was always mean. And he stole batteries he didn't need,"

"Well of course not," Peter agreed.

Meredith hopped down to allow Peter and Gamora to have their moment.

She came next to Rocket and became his size and stood up next to him on her back legs, allowing them to have a moment.

They nuzzled each other and held each other's paws.

Gamora noticed that Groot wanted to be with Orlins. She gently put him down and Orlins let Groot sit on his back as they watched the show. Groot yawned and he laid his head against Orlins's soft fury.

Peter noticed Gamora was looking at him. "What?"

"It's just…some unspoken thing,"

Peter smiled a little. Gamora smiled a little back to him.

He offered an arm and she let him wrap it around her shoulders and he held an arm around his waist.

Tina gave a happy tearful smile at her brother and Gamora; she wanted them to be happy.

"It's beautiful," Mantis said. "I've never anything more wonderful,"

Tina looked at him and saw how astounded he was feeling with watching all this light. "You're happy to join us? Like Drax said earlier, 'You're one of us now,'

Mantis looked into her eyes as a warm glow eradiated from his face. "Yes,"

Tina smiled a little.

"I always dreamed of seeing the galaxy, finding adventure, but now, I found something better,"

"What's that?"

"A family,"

Mantis gently sipped his hand into Tina's, and she accepted it. They stood there together and continued watching the show.

Peter and Tina smiled at each other. They had finally found their true family. With the Guardians.

The family stared out at the funeral service as it commenced in honour of Yondu. His floating ashes transformed into a fiery arrow.

Rocket and Meredith nuzzled each other as they shed some tears.

The service went on for hours. Some sad music was played to bring comfort to their hearts. Some parting words seemed to lift their hearts up as they bid their final farewells to Yondu. He was a brave, true, and loyal Ravanger, who would always be remembered both by his buddies and by the Guardians, especially his children.
